Guest Reviews
- magdapO6827DZ (10/5): A Pearl in the heart of Athens - The hotel administration and the staff is the most helpful, friendly and hospitable members!
The hotel location is in the heart of Athens city , everything are on a walking distance, the hotel have beautiful rooms and amazing view on the top floor .
- Roam444320 (8/5): A clean, convenient, and enjoyable place to stay — an excellent base for exploring Athens. - We spent two nights here at the end of a 13-day trip that included a cruise, and found this hotel to be a great value. It’s moderately priced and well located—an easy walk to restaurants, shops, and public transportation. By American standards, the hotel felt familiar in comfort and amenities.
We arrived early and appreciated the professional, accommodating staff who stored our luggage until our room was ready. The lobby area was pleasant for waiting. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a standard U.S.-sized bed (two XL twins combined) and a modern bathroom. One small drawback: the tub/shower has only a partial glass screen, so some water tends to splash out, and washcloths aren’t provided. Otherwise, housekeeping was great—beds made and bathroom refreshed daily.
Breakfast was a highlight, with plenty of options including fresh pastries, homemade yogurt, eggs, and delicious Greek specialties like olives and dried fruits.
The hotel is located on a quieter side street about a 5-minute walk from Monastiraki Square, where we enjoyed charming restaurants and shopping. While the location was very convenient, the street itself is bordered by some vacant buildings with graffiti and uneven sidewalks, which initially felt a bit run-down and gave us a moment of unease. However, this seemed fairly typical of many areas we encountered throughout Athens, and we still felt comfortable walking during the day and early evening.
A bonus is the rooftop seating area with a lovely view of the Agora and Parthenon — a great spot to unwind.
Overall, a clean, convenient, and enjoyable place to stay — an excellent base for exploring Athens.
- Dionne (10/5): - Great option and very friendly staff. Clean, modern and the breakfast included was good quality. Happy that we booked here.
- Diane (10/5): - We liked that the location was near everything, with a bit of a walk to some places, and you can get anywhere. The breakfast was good. The place does need a few updates and repairs, and some rooms are laid out strangely for use. Staff are friendly. The view is wonderful.
- Brenda (10/5): - Excellent location
- Franklin (2/5): - BED BUGS!!!! I woke up in the middle of the night and felt something crawling on me. It was a bed bug. I squashed it and found more on my pillow and in the middle of the bed.
- Reuben (8/5): - Fast, efficient checkin. Only issue was the swipe card which malfunctioned later but was easily replaced.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Wonderful stay - Friendly employees
- CAROLINE (8/5): - none
- Vanina T (8/5): - It was small and quiet. But it was in the heart of everything we needed
- Emily (10/5): - Great location and wonderful staff
- alecc237 (10/5): Arion hotel Athens - Arion hotel is a really nice little hotel situated in a nice neighborhood, short walks to restaurants and small cafes. friendly service as one of the awesome guys had to sort out a taxi for me as the one I booked never showed as I needed to get to the airport. The rooms were very clean as they are everyday. I do have some concerns over the bathroom door that creaked and crackled every time I opened and shut the door. overall really nice hotel 5/5 stars
- Audrey (8/5): - The staff of the Arion was very accommodating and friendly. The surprising sight of graffiti on buildings near the hotel brought me back to the70’s and 80’s in NYC.
- Lynn (8/5): - Good stay!
- Adam (10/5): - We stayed here 15+ years ago for a honeymoon and were happy to come back with our kid. The location is great and the room had a great view of the Acropolis and Parthenon. Laundry service was great and in general had a good time.
- Peter (10/5): - Very pleasant experience....clean premises and pleasant staff
- Susan (10/5): - Good price, good breakfast, friendly staff, decent location
- Lora (10/5): - Last minute booking and was very impressed with the visit. Very kind staff. Very clean property. The area was in a great location and very walkable. The only thing was that in my specific room the WiFi would go in and out but that did not impact my stay at all! Would stay here again.
- 149kallyk (8/5): Clean, Close to Acropolis location, Nice breakfast, solid service. - Good location and a short walk to the Acropolis and Plaka area.
Nice lobby area and gracious front desk personnel. A suitcase scale in the lobby was especially helpful for international travel.
Rooms were small and no balcony, but we knew that ahead of time. Still the room had a nice view over a courtyard and also had a view of the Acropolis!
Great service and helped with taxi services as needed.
Breakfast was delightfully good with lots of options, all of which were delicious. Eggs, breads, yogurts, meats and cheeses, coffees, etc. A nice touch to have that included in the room rate.
Overall, a good deal for the practical traveler.
- James (6/5): - Near major areas of the city. Hotel could have been better
- Stephanie0988 (6/5): Decent hotel - Mid range hotel. Close to the sights, 15 min walk to the acropolis. The room was small, as expected for the city center. Nice acropolis view from the terrace. Breakfast was ok. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of restaurants within walking distance.
- Kristin (10/5): - The front desk was so helpful. This is a spot to stay. It is steps away from Psiri where there is a lot of delicious Greek restaurants and bars. I would definitely come back to this hotel.
- Larry (8/5): - Hotel is clean, accommodations are average (it is a 3 star hotel), front desk service is terrific (especially Stavros). The breakfast which is included is very good. The location is the best. It’s a 2 minute walk to the restaurants and shops. The bottom line is that I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would stay there again.
- G Paul (10/5): Family Vacay to Europe - Excellent location, staff was very hospitable. Excellent breakfast included. Roof top patio beautiful view of Acropolis.
- scott (8/5): - Wonderful view of the acropolis on the roof! Great breakfast, pretty quiet location for the city. Room was a little on the small side, Overall a great place to stay++++++++++++
- esther (6/5): - I did not like the hotel room. Very small t v no place to put your toiletries or you luggage no micro wave and no coffee in your room. No extra outlet in bathroom for flat iron for hair. And no wash cloths for your face. I would perfect anti bacterial body wash as well.
- Travelling_Meowch (10/5): Great 3⭐ hotel - We stayed here both before and after a group tour, both our rooms were clean and comfortable (although the bathrooms were a little oddly laid out, they were functional).
The location is pretty handy for the metro, and the Acropolis is around a 20 minute walk away.
We very much enjoyed the breakfasts, and our stays in general.
- Venture497989 (10/5): Love Love This Hotel - I stayed 22 nights in this wonderful hotel!!! Everything was walkable and the metro 5 minutes away. Markets and great restaurants really close by. First of all, my check in was smooth with a kind and very helpful receptionist, Niko. He was always pleasant, smiling and so helpful. All the other receptionists were great too, like Bill. I loved their delicious breakfast that was included and the breakfast staff especially, Anastasia who was so accomodating and pleasant to the guests! Her smile and demeanor were so welcoming especially to a Texan traveler. And the balcony view was stunning, with the Acropolis in full view. I had my capuccino up there just to enjoy the view and sunrise. This is the second time I stay in this hotel and I highly recommend it!!! I'll be back in Athens next year and will stay here again and again! Thank you so much to the hotel staff for your excellent hospitality that has made me a Loyal Customer. By the way, My room was great too!
- Steven (10/5): - Great place
- Aakanksha (10/5): - Amazing view of the Acropolis. Very helpful staff. Property clean and tidy. Close to the main attractions and markets, walkable distance.
- Enrico (10/5): - The hotel is just walking distance to many historical sites, restaurants and shopping centers.
- Kimberli (10/5): - Great rooms. Close to everything!
- brett (8/5): Good hidden hotel. - Service and staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast selection was great and changed each day. Ordered double bed but was provided twin singles that moved. So you had to re arrange often. Could be difficult for some people to find the hotel. Good view of acropolis from the roof.
- Nancy (10/5): - Very close to many sites and restaurants. Helpful staff.
- Beatrice (10/5): - Ottima posizione. Staff molto gentile. Terrazza panoramica meravigliosa.
- Betsabe C. (10/5): - Super bien ubicado
- ROGER (10/5): Wonderful! - Wonderful hotel with a great breakfast and view.
- Armine (10/5): - Arion is a great hotel located perfectly in the Monastiraki/Psiri neighborhood, a couple of minutes from the Monastiraki metro station. I traveled light so it was a convenient walk from the station to the hotel. There are lots of restaurants and stores near the hotel. Everything is pretty much in a walkable distance from the hotel. The breakfast is decent. They serve eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, olives, yogurt, tea and coffee, fruit, cereal, all kinds of cookies, croissant and bread, a variety of jams, etc. The staff is absolutely amazing. A shoutout to Stavros - he’s the best! So is Nikos! They both were extremely helpful and very nice. Thank you very much!
- Hannah (8/5): The rooftop can't be beat - The rooftop view is just incredible!! Beautiful roof top. Location is great and easily accessible to walk out and explore, see the sites, grab public transportation. I only stayed one night and had to leave too early to grab breakfast. Might be the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in, but hotel is nice and quiet/comfortable. Nice, clean bathroom - standup shower only in my room. I chose this hotel specifically for the rooftop and location. A perfect stunner for the last night of my time in Athens.
- V7712OColiviam (6/5): Good stay at a convenient walking location - The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room had a good view and was nice, but the bathroom was laid out in a funky way that was not very practical. I would have been frustrated with it if we'd stayed more than one night. The location is great; it's pretty close to many of the main attractions. It's farther off the main streets, so it's pretty quiet, which was great for my boyfriend who is a sensitive sleeper. We had the breakfast-included package. It was buffet style with a lot of options; the quality was fine.
- Craig (8/5): - Great location, central and within easy access of some good places to eat or relax and have a drink
- Zulekha (10/5): - No access by vehicles. Hard with family members in wheelchairs.
- John C (2/5): - Nothing
- Fe (8/5): - Reception Staff is very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast staff is not friendly and accommodating. Food choice is very simple and plain. Small bathroom and room. Didn’t get any upgrades even VIP holder. Need to remind the free wine to the staff to give to us.
- Xena (10/5): - The view of the Parthenon was absolutely stunning!
- Mobile56573704390 (10/5): Stay at Arion hotel, Athens. - Very nice hotel with view of the acropolis. Friendly staff. Very clean place. Great breakfast. Excellent location, walking distance to acropolis and lots of restaurants.Lots of little shops for souvenirs.Very centrally located. We flew in so I don’t know if they have parking.
- David (10/5): - Great location Front desk was very helpful.
- Alyssa (10/5): - Room was spacious, restroom was clean, view was great, breakfast had good choices, and rooftop had excellent views.
- Teresa (10/5): - Very nice
- Lori (10/5): - The balcony view in Athens was awesome. It was easy walking to everything we wanted to do. I loved this place.
- 247tessa (6/5): Excellent location - EXCELLENT location right around the corner of bustling Plaka! Reception staaf super friendly and helpful. Roof terrace gives great view of the city and Pantheon.
Rooms are… functional. We had no view and though beds were comfy, they had seen better times. The blankets are in need of replacement. The pillows were good, they offer several to choose from. There was an extra bed in the room, that we used for luggage. We didn’t like the bathroom: a glass box in the middle of the room, with a glass door that leaves a gap - privacy is hence rather limited. Could also do with extra hooks and a rail to dry towels on. The doorstop is exactly where you will stub your toe going in and out of the tub😝 Wifi works well downstairs, off and on in the room.
Breakfast offers surprisingly many choices, and fresh fruit is refilled till the last minute. The breakfast room is pretty uninviting without daylight.
The lounge downstairs is modern and nice to hang out.
If you are in Athens for Athens, this is a great place to stay. If you are looking for a hotel with character, this might not be for you.
- Omar (4/5): Basic but great location - Amazing location and great view of acropolis. Basic but convenient.
- Wayne (10/5): The Arion: Monastiraki—the heart of Athens - The Monastiraki area looks like hell but is actually the best area to stay in Athens. The Arion is right in the heart of this vibrant, colorful and varied place.
- Lovick16 (6/5): Think Twice - After an overnight flight from the USA, we arrive at the hotel to check in.
First impressions are bad. The lobby is tired and dark, furniture is stained and in general not welcoming,
Now lets talk about the Receptionist. Since we arrived in the early morning, our room was not ready yet. NO problem, in most hotels one would expect that Reception would store your luggage until your room was ready. Here, the Receptionist gave us a key to a luggage room in the basement and told us we could store our bags there. No Assistance, no security in the luggage closet. Signage says they are not responsible for lost or stolen valuables.
Once we finally got into our room, it was better than the Lobby and welcome experience, The included breakfast was okay.
The one highlight of this hotel is the rooftop view of the Acropolis. That is truly beautiful and the only reason this hotel received an AVERAGE rating.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent location - The location is excellent, close to everything. The room is also very clean and bright. The air con works well - this is esp important in hot summer. But it's a bit pricy for a 3-star hotel.
- moly (10/5): Great hotel, prefect location. - Rated as 3 star but it is high end of it. Very nice and classy hotel, very clean. Front desk was very helpful. There was no coffee machine in the room but they provided a kettle. Roof top view at night is amazing. unfortunately we didn't get a room with a balcony. Plaka is walking distance and nice and safe to walk around around 10pm. Lots of eating area arouind this hotel.
Roads are very narrow so taxi's may not able to come to the hotel all the time, but only small walk
- Kimberley (8/5): - Excellent location!
Limited amenities at hotel. However was clean and felt safe.
- Yaisyry (10/5): - The sraff are very friendly and very and helpful informative ,Great customer servive ,I strongly recomend this hotel ,the view in the roof top is spectacular.
- Carol (10/5): Great choice and value - This is wonderful 3 star hotel in the best location just outside of the Plaka area. It was quiet as across from a church - our room faced the street. A decent breakfast is included and just a block from a busier square with many good restaurants. The room was clean & big enough for our 3 day stay and the bed was comfortable.
- SP1889 (10/5): Room with a view, great location, friendly staff - I had booked a room with an Acropolis View and had asked for a room on a high floor. I was not disappointed - it was a pleasure to sit out on the balcony in the evening (indeed at any time) with such a spectacular backdrop. The room, though not large, was perfect for my needs and very clean. Breakfast was relatively basic but perfectly adequate and again I was not expecting anything more. I found reception staff at all times friendly and helpful. The location was down a narrow side street, but was close to Psirri Square (which seemed always to be buzzing with locals) and numerous eateries both on the square itself and in the surrounding streets. A few minutes away on foot to Monastiraki Square and the metro, and another 15/20 minutes to the Acropolis. I could not have chosen a more suitable and friendly hotel and would have no hesitation in returning to it.
- Anne H (10/5): Great location and reasonable price for service. - The location is great and very close to a variety of places to eat and shop. The rooftop has a lovely night view of the Acropolis.
Staff was very kind.
- Joseph (10/5): - Good staff and clean rooms. Location closed to center, restaurants and transportation. Located in old part of Athens.
- Tammy (10/5): - Loved our stay. The rooftop patio has fantastic views.
- Esat (10/5): Lovely hotel - Perfect location
- Rochelle (8/5): Good hotel great location - Hotel very good location. Staff very helpful.
Clean and friendly. Would recommend
- Steve (8/5): - Very convenient location, restaurants within steps from the hotel. You can easily walk to most famous attractions in Athens. Metro/subway to/from airport is an easy walk (max. 10 minutes). And the front desk people are very friendly and courteous.
- 627ilanab (8/5): Very good 3* hotel - Outstanding location. Near all the tourist attractions. Great service. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The reception service is very good, and they offered lots of tips what to do. Breakfast is good. Better than expected for a 3 star. Will definitely return..
- MattHM (8/5): Great location - This hotel is superbly located in a side street close to a great selection of restaurants and bars and a short walk to all the main sight seeing attractions.
The room was clean and the bed comfy. The bathroom is on the small side, but the shower worked well and plenty of hot water.
Breakfast was OK, a little basic, but did the job and set you up for the day.
The staff were all really friendly.
The view from the roof top is very good
- Rami (10/5): - Overall excellent hotel. Convenient, clean room,OK bed and shower. Nice balcony with views of psirri, Plaka to the south, and lycattus hill to the east. Easy parking in the area.
- Elanit (10/5): - Location is close to everything.
Safe and easy to find places by walking
- Nigel (6/5): - Great location
- Luz (8/5): Nice and friendly accomodation. - Nice Hotel in a very good location with friendly staff and free bottle of wine. The room view was somewhat dissapoiting and it was also smaller than other Hotel rooms we've been to.
- Mohammed (2/5): - Uncomfortable
- Lea (10/5): Great view of the Acropolis - Very nice hotel, with fantastic view of the Acropolis. Close walk to Monastaraki and Plaka and an easy walk to the Acropolis. Be sure to go in and out the front door as the neighborhood out the back door is a little sketchy. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We requested two twin beds, but were given a room with one queen and one rollaway twin, which made the room crowded. The queen was fairly comfortable, but the twin was hard. Very good breakfast buffet from 7:30 to 10:00. Lots of restaurants nearby. Overall, a nice clean hotel with good location.
- Ramprakash Coniki (10/5): - Good hotel and proximity to all sights
- Steve (10/5): - Service is great and great location.
- Ettore (10/5): - Very courteous staff, very central location
- Jose (10/5): - The staff and accommodations were excellent. Great location with easy access to restaurants and transportation.
- John (10/5): - Close to everything! Awesome location
- Dorothee (8/5): - Very well located to see all the historical sights. If you're coming with a car make sure it's a small ones as the streets are very small! We paid for parking in a close by parking.
Room is comfortable.
A shame the breakfast room is so gloomy.
- Jeanelle (8/5): - A very convenient location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice room - Room was good and the staff friendly. Good location.
- marta silva (8/5): - location, you can use the airport bus or the undreground
- ILIAS (10/5): - Very good location and people
- Sergei (10/5): - No soda mashin.
- Milind (10/5): Enjoying Athens - Nice hotel, comfortable stay, great view of the Acropolis from our room (though slightly obstructed by the building in front) and the terrace. Good choices for breakfast, clean rooms. Being winter they had heat from the A/C so had to open the window to cool off (we are from America so 16C is not cold for us).
Staff was very friendly, hotel is walkable distance to everything and public transport and Metro Monastraki stn. 6 min. walk or Omonia stn. 10 min. and Cecil hotel at 100m where most tour operators will pick you up.
Great local food in restaurants all along the hotel street.
Enjoyed my wine on the terrace with great day and night views of the Acropolis.
Would recommend this hotel over others in the area at higher prices. Get the rooms with the view as it's definitely worth the price of €83 off-season price.
- Alissa (10/5): - Staff was super friendly and helpful. Location was EXCELLENT. Acropolis, shopping, Plaka neighborhood, restaurants, train station all walking distance. Neighborhood was cool, nightlife everywhere, lots of unique shops. Must check out Karras Leather, a shop selling one of a kind handmade leather bags and goods. Antony is a true artist (just look for a small shop with amazing bags in window and hand drawn patterns hanging on the back wall). I would stay here again. The view of the Acropolis from our balcony was awesome!
- Bridget (10/5): Highly recommended - Easy check-in. 2 lifts. View from 6th Floor balcony and roof terrace to the acropolis was amazing. Location was very central and felt very safe despite numerous side streets. Metro station 5 minutes walk. Surrounded by numerous friendly, fun restaurants catering for all budgets. Breakfast was more than adequate and staff kept the breakfast room very clean and well stocked.
- Ronny (10/5): - Great Location, perfect view , very clean , nice breakfast
- marilyn (10/5): - At first, i thought the area was ghetto. Full of Graffiti everywhere. We weee afraid to go out at 1st but at our surprised the area was full of fun specially at night. The area was a party atreet for everyone. Restaurants, stores and bars. Its was block away from the train station square. The hotel has a roof top that shows the Acropolis. It was magical to just stair at it night and day. Highly recommended
- James Allen (10/5): - The staff was very helpful and attentive
It was close to restaurants and shopping. The breakfast buffet was good. The only thing I can say I would change was a larger bathroom the door blocked a clear entrance. Overall I give it 5 stars.
- Avraam (8/5): - Decent hotel. Room was okay but nothing made it stand out. Very basic breakfast!
- carla (10/5): - Great location, breakfest, kind customer service! Low budget and amazing hotel
- Thayra (8/5): - I loved the location of this hotel. It is within one minute walking of a beautiful area full of restaurants and bars. Yet I was not disturbed at all by outside noises. In fact, I didn't hear any noise from my room. The check-in was quick and the staff were all very nice and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and it was the perfect mix between Greek items and more traditional breakfast for tourists. Lastly, the rooftop was a true hidden gem! That view of the Acropolis at night was majestic. My only minor complaint of my experience is the room feels small, yet I must say it met my needs (shower and sleep). I would definitely stay here again!
- Lorraine (8/5): - Nice guest chill area with couches. Full range of options for breakfast. View of Acropolis! Near restaurants and shopping. Quick taxi ride to/from Larissis train station.
- Mariella (10/5): - Great price for this gem. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and so many choices to choose from. the view of the acropolis on their balcony was impressive. Hotel located in the perfect spot. Centralized area with restaurants within a block away. Within walking distance to all the areas we wanted to sightsee. I would definitely recommend to anyone.
- Natasha (10/5): - It is very well located in Athens. The rooms were very nice and clean and the staff were very helpful when checking in and out.
- Farrah (10/5): - I thought that this hotel was located in a cute neighborhood. The customer service was amazing!
- Naylofar (2/5): - It should not be considered as a hotel… it’s a small in… never again
- rita (8/5): - Excellent location, friendly staff. Could be better if they would provide a water kettle in the room. Roof terrace would be amazing if there was a bar. Need to order drinks at reception. But not very early or late because there’s only one person at reception.
