• Linda (10/5): Perfect location and great hotel - Friendly service and comfortable hotel. This hotel was in the perfect location. It was not a busy street but only 1-2 blocks from great restaurants. There was also a tapas bar across the street and a little supermarket where we bought necessities. Breakfast was also good. I have to mention the front desk employee, Francisco was the best! He was so attentive and friendly. We had an issue with the AC of the first room and he changed our room and made sure the issue was resolved and fixed. If I can give him 10 stars I would.

Lovely rooms. Comfy beds, good air con. Would have liked to try the restaurant but it was closed over the bank holiday weekend when we were there. Will definitely stay here again.
• NewYorkCityNative (2/5): Terrible from Start to Finish - We stayed 3 nights. Every day, we were wondering how this is a 4-star hotel. We had a late check-in, around midnight. The receptionist didn't even look up or greet us. We had to say "hello, we're here to check in" and he looked annoyed, like we were bothering him. Check-in was slow. It took a bunch of printed forms on their giant, ancient printer and we were then charged 10 euro/night for room tax and fees. After 10 minutes and signing several forms, we finally got the keys, and this was a check-in with no one else around. When we got to our room, the 1st thing we noticed was how cold the room was. It was set to 15C (59F)! We turned up the thermostat to 25C (77F), hoping the room would warm up faster. Cold air kept blowing and it did not warm up until the next day. It was this cold temperature that partly caused us to get sick. Instead of exploring Barcelona, we spent the next day shivering in bed with a cold. We called downstairs about the thermostat and they basically said it is what it is. There was no offer to change rooms. We asked for an additional blanket and they gave us a disgusting pilled brown blanket that I wouldn't even donate. This blanket wasn't big enough for 2, so we asked for a 2nd and they got annoyed at us again. This was the worst hotel to catch a cold. The room was gross. The floors were dirty, the furniture was dirty, and the bathroom was dirty. For some reason, there was a sandy material everywhere in the main room until I finally decided to wipe up the floor at 6am since it was getting tracked everywhere. We had not left the room until that point so it wasn't from us. In the afternoon, we called downstairs for a towel and were interrogated as to why we need more. The sand eventually got on the bed as well. There were also random particles from previous guests all over the room chair and moldy caulk along the lines of the bathtub. The room was not soundproof at all. We could hear someone snoring upstairs and the person next door using the bathroom and shower. The pillows were flat like a pancake and the bed was not comfortable. It felt like sleeping on a cot and even makes the same noise. The towels had a musty smell and also had a weird powder feeling to them. Even the elevators smelled bad, like rancid oil. The bathroom was a bad experience as well. The shower pressure was lacking and water would get all over the floors because the glass was not long enough, no matter how far back we adjusted the shower head angle. The toilet paper was 1-ply and the 2 rolls were already half used. We finished both in 1 day and when we called downstairs to ask for more, it was met with "don't you have?" in a tone that suggested we were going to steal this awful toilet paper. I hope the 4 empty toilet paper rolls provided hotel management some solace. If you can't tell, we hated our stay here! The wood along the doors and hallways were all scratched, and the outdated wallpaper was visibly peeling off. No one asked at checkout about our stay. We turned in the key and he said we don't have any charges, and that was it. I'm really still wondering how this is a 4-star hotel. We've stayed at motels in better condition and with better service than Hotel Zenit Borrell.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Hotel very well located - I stayed 5 days on a business trip, the hotel was confortable the room looked maybe a bit smaller compared to the pictures. Overall everything fine, they should unclog all the pipings in the bathroom cos clearly there was a problem there a part from that it was ok, staff was friendly, breakfast was amazing.
• terryfT4577SH (6/5): It was OK, but probably would not stay there again - The decor of the hotel was cute but their rooms were just adequate. The breakfast buffet was OK also. Sadly, the lobby always had a foul smell to it so we didn’t really stay there much. Also, disappointing was that the Hotel Restaurant in Bar were closed so that did not make us happy at all ..the breakfast buffet also closed too early if you chose to enjoy the nightlife

• Verified traveler (8/5): Ok experience, but nothing fantastic - The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood, not very central but well connected by bus with the touristic downtown area. The room I stayed in was quite small. I imagine there are bigger ones. It was clean, but there were some details that could be improved. The towels were old (one had a hole in it). The soap dispenser needed to be refilled. I also do not like hotels that have a soap and shampoo dispenser in the shower. I prefer the ones that have little soaps and shampoo bottles. I paid for breakfast, and it was ok. I only had breakfast there one day, and I arrived after 10:00AM. There were several food items that were not available (or had not been replaced) in the buffet. With so many options nearby for late breakfast, I regretted paying for it. Overall, it was not a bad stay. People in the reception were friendly and helpful, and I did not have any major problems. It was just not a great experience, and I will look for other places next time I am in Barcelona.

• Voyage13087969136 (2/5): Bad staff = bad hotel - First of all to clear things up, I check 2 days late, with one night left only to my reservation, due to a health issue, of which the reception clearly asked why did I even bothered to check in for just one night, although I paid for the whole period. The maids were unprofessional, hitting the elevator’s buttons while screaming and cussing, The double bed was actually two single beds close to each other with a gap in mid, We told the reception that the air conditioning was not working properly, whom replied that it was our fault that we check in late, and they cant help us with anything, We told them that the mini fridge wasn’t cooling, of which they replied the same as above. The bathroom wasn’t clean, the towels weren’t clean, Not recommended at all,
• Tiffany (10/5): - I enjoyed staying at this hotel - the location was safe and close to metro/bus stations to easily get around Barcelona. The room was very comfortable - nice, clean beds. The front desk staff was also very helpful throughout our stay.

• periandro (8/5): Good hotel and helpful staff - t's a good hotel located in an agreeable district in Barcelona near Hospital Clinic. Albeit it's not too close to the center – about twenty minutes walk -, it's very well connected. The building is rather solid and elegant both outside and inside, though it's not apparently soundproof. The room I was allocated is rather small but comfortable anyway, especially the bed whose mattress has the adequate toughness to assure a good sleep mainly for people having some sort of backache. The desk is also suitable for working comfortably. They made a table lamp available to me so that I could read and write with no problem whatsoever. Since, as stated above, the building isn't apparently soundproof I sometimes heard the voices of the next door neighbours contingent upon the kind of people concerned. That was a bit annoying and made me once even knock on the wall in order to try to have the necessary calm for sleeping. The partition wall betwixt my room and that on the left as one comes into either sometimes got warped when pushed against from the other side. The staff is rather kind and helpful both the people working at the front desk and at the restaurant as well as the room maids who certainly do an excellent job. The breakfast is good and abundant, particularly the sweet fruits and the cheese of diverse types and also the croissants and other pastry. Some days there is Spanish omelette, which is usually very well cooked and tasty. That breakfast is therefore enough for one to keep on for several hours without feeling hungry again. At the same restaurant, to wit Restaurant Mares, one can have the other two day meals. I sometimes had lunch there. There is a set menu for those meals. Among the dishes included in it there is a sirloin steak, the ordering of which entails the payment of a moderate supplement, what is worthwhile taking the good quality of the meat into consideration. The only flaw in that restaurant is that sometimes the TV set is on at the same time as music, which doesn't make much sense actually. Whenever I asked them to stop the music however my entreaty was kindly acceded and implemented. By and large therefore, it's a recommendable place to stay while in Barcelona and, by the way, not expensive.

• gemmapZ3311RD (6/5): Don't expect coffee and milk - Rooms overall nice and spacious bathroom with double sink but although there is tea/coffee making facilities in the room don't expect anything other than green and red tea. We asked reception for coffee. First person said no, second person said yes then we asked for milk at which point we got refused. Never stayed at any hotel where tea, coffee and milk were not provided. No bar or restaurant open on a weekend either. I've given a 3 on purely the rest of the room but other than that staff and facilities pretty poor.

• Juan (8/5): Great place to stay away from touristy areas. - Very nice stay. The hotel is perfect if you want to be a bit away from the main touristy attractions, but very walkable to the main areas. Staff was great and very helpful.
• funkyfoodietraveler (8/5): Great hotel - Great hotel with quite sentral plasement. Close to metro like 5-7 min walk and about 15 min walk to the diagonal. On the negative side the air con was not to efficient, also we had a window to a "bakyard" witch is a 10×4m area, and we stayed at floor 2 from about 6 i think..so was really not easy to get any air in to the room. But we had a great expirience with hotel. Quite clean and silent from the outside tho.

I also paid for a city view and I was looking into the locals back garden (Room 209) try to avoid if you want a view. However 5 min walk from the Hospital Clinic metro station which was handy.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall, a great hotel for the money. It was clean, the staff was helpful, and the water pressure was excellent (always a risk in Europe). The lack of a gym was a bit of a bummer, but gyms are rare in smaller hotels in Spain. The buffet was quite acceptable, and there's a coffee shop across the street that's open early. Central location that's walkable to anywhere, from Monjuic to Sagrada Familia to Barcelona Cathedral to Parc Guell, so that was a plus. We walked absolutely everywhere. Lots of great restaurants nearby in Eixample. My biggest negative issue with the property was the piped-in fragrance in the lobby (constantly) and guest rooms (when the air conditioning is turned on). It was an overpowering scent of perfume that assaulted us every time we walked in. We actually began sleeping with the window open at night, despite the noise, so we wouldn't have to smell the fragrance. I understand that some visitors see this as a pleasant feature, and it did smell marginally better than the outside on a hot and muggy Sunday, but I'm not particularly sensitive to smells, and this still pretty substantial. Other than that, though, no complaints!

• Verified traveler (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay. I arrived without my luggage and the staff kept an eye out for its delivery even leaving a note about it for the next employee on duty. The hotel itself is pretty quiet. I did use earplugs and an eye mask to sleep but that’s because I’m a light sleeper. The air in the room doesn’t get too cool, which was the only downside from my stay. The room wasn’t stuffy but I would’ve liked it to be a bit cooler. You have to request an iron as it isn’t typically in the room like in the US but not a problem. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are small. I stayed alone and it wouldn’t be ideal for more than two people. There was enough room for the bed and my luggage. I like that the toilet area is completely separate from the sleep area. Overall, I stayed 5 nights and enjoyed my staff. I would stay again and as mentioned the room temperature was the only downside. The location isn’t central but it’s a short 3-5 minute walk to the metro and you’ll be in Plaça Catalunya in 9 minutes. Plenty of restaurants, Mercados, and ATMs nearby.

• Leon (4/5): - Beds are on wheels and not comfortable at all, in the morning you find your bed in different position from the night.the third person sofa as a bed was exactly like the army's beds. It was an another bad choice.

• DAVID (8/5): Good hotel, nice area & close to the metro - Good selection of food for breakfast which opens up at 7 am weekdays & 7.30 am weekends. Even though it was towards the end of September, still needed the air-con at night which I found too noisy to sleep.

• Ronald (10/5): Clean and efficient hotel - Expected 4 Star got 5 Star. Everything was wonderful. Front desk was sharp and helpful. Arranged discount for breakfast, printed boarding pass for flight. Arranged minivan taxis to airport. Room was modern, clean, and comfortable. Location was good, easy walk to good food and drink. Spoke excellent English (any time of day or night). Would recommend this hotel.

The area is not quite so touristy as nearer the port, more residential with markets and such. Also quieter which was a nice change from the Las Ramblas area hotels we stayed previously.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful Hotel - Personally, I like small rooms; it makes things cozy. This hotel was perfect. The staff cared about you and if you were walking, they’d give you map with directions drawn on.

As with most hotels unless you have a room overlooking the front the view from the windows is poor. This hotel has no view from the inside , other than looking across at opposite rooms.

• Kate (10/5): Very impressed! - We stayed for 6 nights and wasn't really expecting anything more than a Premier Inn type of hotel, however upon arrival we were so surprised and very impressed! A warm and friendly welcome from the staff (throughout the entire stay). Our room was great! So much space, with a separate (private) 'hallway' that accomodated the wardrobe and room to store our suitcase and the en-suite was off the hall way. A biscuit was left on our pillow upon our arrival which was a nice touch, along with a stationery set. The bathroom was very spacious, all mod cons, powerful shower and very clean. The bed was comfy and the mini bar was a nice surprise to find too. Our room was cleaned daily and a new box of toilettries were left for us on a daily basis. The food was very nice with plenty of choice. We ate in the restuarant on the 1st night as we arrived late and it was lovely, as was breakfast every morning. The hotel was in a good location and only 25 minutes or so walk to Placa Da Catalunya. Barcelona is a beautiful city with so much to see, gorgeous beaches and we plan on coming back. Hotel Zennit Borrell is a good choice! No complaints from us! :-) Top Tip - remember the plug adaptor is a round 2 pin! We took the wrong one but luckily the hotel loaned us one for our entire stay (for free!).

• Verified traveler (4/5): Needs a refit with lazy unattentive staff. - The hotel is in need of a refit - it my have been a 4 star hotel once but I think it would now be closer to a three. The rooms are also not particulalrly clean, upon arrival we had to change rooms due to lack of cleanliness (mould in bathroom & hairs). The staff are also lazy, not asking how your visit went. They do not engage in pleasentries. The breakfast was good, however the tables were never cleared - meaning you had to ask for one to be cleaned. The male attendent was lazy and work shy - doing the minimum required to keep the breakfast room running.
• Dee (10/5): Close to Metro, close to train station - The staff was so helpful. We signed up for breakfast on property. It was delicious. It was like a block or two from excellent Asian dining. Took Metro to major site seeing venues. Had great Museums like Picasso and Catalonia history.
• Jodie (10/5): Great stay in a great hotel. - We have just stayed here for a week and really enjoyed it. The hotel is nice and in a good quiet location with a metro station just round the corner. It is about a 30 minute walk to La Rambla (about 8 euros in a taxi), but the metro is so easy to use and takes about 12 minutes. The staff on reception were always very pleasent and helped with all our needs. The room was very clean and nice and cool with the air con. The only downside I would say is that the walls are thin and people were sometimes loud when coming back in the early hours of the morning, but I guess that's just disrespectful people and wouldn't stop me staying here again. Thanks for a great week in beautiful Barcelona!!
• Verified traveler (6/5): Unfortunate room problem - Stayed three nights here and found hotel rooms comfortable and clean. However, we were unlucky to have a room with a loud banging noise every hour or so, including through the night. Informed hotel staff, who were sympathetic and very helpful, moving us to another room, which was better, but still had a similar but much quieter noise that could be heard (maybe next door). Seemed to be some mechanical issue. Our new room had very thin walls, as we could hear the people next door. Area also got a bit noisy in the night on the weekend, as we could hear some street noise. Additionally, shower head bracket was flimsy, and easily fell while taking a shower. Overall, nice hotel, with good rooms and excellent staff, with unfortunate noise issues. Would still recommend to stay here, but be aware of noise issue.

Bathroom - great Our window looked onto a nearby wall. But as were there only 3 days we didn't mid it. Staff - lovely and helpful Breakfast good; But cold meats were kept very close to other food. Not comfortable with that (esp as a vegeatrian) !
