- Elizabeth U (10/5): - The Russell Boutique Hotel went through renovations in recent months and it shows nicely. The real standout was the excellent staff led by Val. My initial reservations about the location were replaced with delight as everyone made my short stay a pleasant and welcoming experience. Be aware that some rooms have a shared bathroom. The restaurant downstairs was convenient and the service was prompt and friendly. I enjoyed my meal and slept well. In the morning, May, the night staff, helped me log my luggage to the front for my Uber pickup. She was friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. I would stay there again.
- J (8/5): Best location and a lovely hotel - This hotel is in a fabulous location in the Rocks and access to many attractions USA bonus. Lovely hotel but lots of stairs and managing luggage is difficult so next time I will use a backpack.

- Andrew (10/5): - Overall we had a great stay at the Russell boutique hotel. Conveniently located for what we required for the weekend. Parking right next door. Circular and the Rocks on our doorstep. Staff were very polite and welcoming. Our room was beautiful, comfortable and clean, a credit to the very recent refurbishment, and although no view and no seating in our room, this was made up for with the beautiful roof top balcony only steps away from our room. Breakfast was included in our stay and was cooked to order from the menu. Highly recommended.
- Mary (2/5): - I booked the hotel in March, I booked an economy double room. When I arrived, I was told that the room do not have a shower or toilet - that it had a shared toilet and shower. I showed them my booking and receipt that says nothing about a shared toilet or shower. They also told me they don't even have an economy double - the rooms all had names. They put me in a room with an en-suite for a few hundred more per night. I have learned that the hotel "reopened" in May, which I presumed was responsible for the change in price. They told me I would have to take it up with Expedia which I did but Expedia said there was nothing they could do. I believe the hotel should have honored the Expedia reservation at the price I paid for a room where amenities were listed as "bathroom." I was also told that breakfast was included but two mornings worth of breakfast was included in the bill - I have reached out to the hotel, but they have not answered. My advice: the hotel is lovely but make sure you deal directly with the hotel and get it in writing what you are paying for

Perfectly located to enjoy everything The Rocks has to offer including Vivid, we had lots to do and see within in a short stroll. Returning to the hotel we loved the live music in the small pub and it was the only place open until 12pm on the street. Our room was perfect, although no air conditioner, a ceiling fan and a heater was the only option, but it added to the antique charm. Breakfast is included and although limited, it had our favourite options on the menu. We would definitely stay there again, loved it!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The discount at the Fortune of War bistro was welcome. It is an easy walk from the car park. If you like antique Cedar furniture you will be very happy here.

The Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Circular Quay with the transport links (train, tram and ferry) are all within walking distance. The Hop-On-Hop-Off tour bus (red line) starts literally over the road and the 'Rocks' weekend market (fabulous) was a few minutes walk away. The only thing I would have liked to see was a room safe.

Maxine let us shower and use another room until our room was ready. We had just gotten off of a 17 hour flight and it was so nice of her to let us freshen up! The staff also made great recommendations for restaurants and things to do around Sydney. The room was great! It had a big bathroom and was quiet. The property is also close to everything and easy to walk to the bridge and opera house. We stayed in multiple hotels on our trip to Australia and this one was our favorite. Thank you to the Russell for making our stay so memorable!

The roome are small, and the building is far from new, but the location, staff, and cleanliness all make this a GREAT place to stay. The staff was as accommodating, friendly, and helpful as any place we have ever stayed. In addidition, the baked goods on the breakfast buffet were absolutely amazing.

- Scott (6/5): Secret chancers - We had someone try our door at 01:30 in the morning. Just a simple latch lock so found it difficult to get back to sleep after that. But it’s central, it’s clean and fairly priced
- Elisabeth (10/5): Delightful hotel - We loved our stay at the Russell. It's not the hotel for someone with mobility issues because there are lots of little groups of steps connecting the odd floor levels but we found this quirky and interesting. Our room was very clean and comfortable and surprisingly quiet given that we stayed Friday and Saturday nights and could barely hear the entertainment in the bars downstairs. The Russell is perfectly placed for attending a show at the Opera House (which is what we did) and very close to the Circular Quay ferries and trains. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in the area to chose from. Breakfast was a cold buffet but perfectly adequate. We'll definitely stay there again.
