- jennifergA6894HX (2/5): Judgmental Emergency handled horribly - I have to share this story although I have never left a hotel review before. This message is very important for me to make clear. I am a solo female traveler who arrived at hotel Casa Fuster on March 20, 2026. For three weeks prior to my reservation, I had sent emails to the hotel requesting an early check-in on an upper floor room. I clearly stated in my emails that I knew I was just putting in a request and it was not a guarantee. When I arrived at the hotel at noon, I tried to check in, but was immediately told there were no rooms available. I asked if any notes have been put in my reservation and the lady at the front desk denied seeing anything. She then told me she the only room she had available was on the first floor, but it would be quiet. After such a long flight, I agreed and took the room on the first floor. Immediately maintenance had to come three times because the safe in my room wouldn’t lock or unlock. That could’ve been user error I admit. The only thing I did for the rest of the day was go up to their rooftop terrace and had an appetizer. I went to bed early since I had an early start the next day but by 7 PM woke up with the most horrific, excruciating stomach pains. By 1 AM I had to go to the emergency room where they diagnosed me with food poisoning. The next morning I went down to the front desk to confront them about the fact I had just had to spend $1200 at a hospital because I had food poisoning from their rooftop terrace. Immediately they were defensive and did not care and stood there, asking me what I wanted them to do about it. I thought then a good customer service agent would agree to comp me or help me in someway. Due to the fact I paid such an extreme emergency room bill. They called me in my room later to inform me that because nobody else got sick they didn’t care. From that point on they made everything difficult for me and treated me as if I was some scam artist trying to come and work a free night off of them. That does not make any sense since they were already holding about $2000 on my credit card. My first night I went to take a shower and there was no hot water in my room and I paid extra to have a room with a balcony and come to find out. They remove the door handle off of the balcony so you can’t open the door. I asked how I could get fresh air in the room and was told they shut down their system during the winter and there is no air. Later that same day I had to return to the emergency room because my stomach pains had gotten worse. I did end up finding out that it was my gallbladder and I needed emergency surgery to have my gallbladder removed. So I admit it was not food poisoning. However, I had to come back to the hotel doubled over in pain crying because I was in a country all by myself when I didn’t speak, the language and an emergency was happening to me. I did not understand. The hotel was completely heartless kept treating me like scum when I asked for an ambulance or a taxi to take me to the hospital the front desk manager pointed to the street and told me to go catch a taxi outside. I am not a world traveler and I don’t get to stay in very nice places very often and I had planned for this trip for two years and saved all of my money for it. Yet the hotel I’m paying a lot of money for absolutely was heartless, cold, and I was treated like scum. The only thing the hotel was concerned about was making sure I paid for everything. I am no way showed any signs that I was trying to work a free room off of them however the manager and even the general manager came and spoke down to me and acted like I was trying to do something wrong. Even though I was crying, doubled over in pain and clearly had my credit card they still were not satisfied. At one moment, I thought I was going to be nauseous at their counter and I asked if I could get a sprite and the only thing they were concerned about was who was going to pay for the eight dollar half filled bottle of Sprite I wanted. I am not one to bicker at a hotel and even though there was no air in the room, I was still toughing it out. But to be treated so horribly by a judgmental front desk, whose judgment was completely off, showed that they were greedy instead of caring. The customer service at this hotel was horrible and I’m ashamed that people would treat others this way. I do have one positive thing to say about the hotel, and that is that they have the best Belman ever. He went above and beyond to be compassionate, caring and helpful for me. He felt bad for what I was going through, and even walked me across the street to the pharmacy to help me get my prescriptions filled since I didn’t understand Spanish. Otherwise, if you are looking for a safe and comfortable and caring hotel, I would suggest highly to not stay there. Their prices are outrageous for the service that you get and the rooftop terrace is a complete nightmare. But overall, they made a very false judgment of me and treated me poorly because of their false judgment. I have always heard that Barcelona is known for pickpocketing and scam artists. However, I showed no signs of either and it even took me a few days to figure out why they were treating me so horribly. I feel the hotel owes me an apology at least but I know I will never receive one. I will post this posting several times to make sure it does not get taken down. Best of luck to you.

The whole stay exceeded our expectations by a successful mix of old school service with a modern twist. The staff were very helpful, professional and and friendly, and they dealt with a problem in the best possible manner. We did not have Breakfast at the hotel, but did have a dinner there which was just delicious. The location etc. of course great, and one has a strong sense of the place as was originally built as a private house ( Lucky Mr and Mrs Fuster!) We left having had a thoroughly enjoyable stay- a big thank you to all the Staff!

- leecJ6313JK (10/5): Outstanding hotel. - The only thing that equals the impressive appearance of this hotel is the service you receive. ALL the staff are very helpful and polite. The breakfast offered is very good, varied and plentiful and your stay will be enhanced by the care taken of your room by the domestic staff. The location was perfect for us at the “quieter” part of Barcelona in our opinion, most things to see are walkable between 20-30 minutes or the hop on hop off bus is a great option and the pick up is 5 minutes from the hotel. Book this hotel, you won’t regret it.

- Samuel9612 (6/5): Historic hotel but many problems - We stayed at this hotel during our last stay in Barcelona. It was our first time at the casa Fuster as we stayed at other hotels before. We selected this property this time because of the city center location and the historic look. First I have to say staff was very friendly all over the property. The rooms are good but smoothie bit noisy and they added new tvs to the room but did not think about hiding cables, so these were visible and looked not nice. Breakfast was a mess, the offer was small and not high quality and the breakfast room is located in the cellar with no day light, really cold and also mold seen on the walls. For this price we will not go there any more there are better hotels in Barcelona
- wolfm7 (6/5): Great location but overpriced for the standard - I stayed for a few days on a business trip and had chosen the hotel based on the listing as LHW hotel and location. The location is definitely great, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. The room was very nice and pretty much what I would expect from an LHW hotel. Nonetheless, I was a bit disappointed with the standard of the room and choice / buffet and service of the breakfast which I felt did not match the price.
- MPR2310 (6/5): A rather mixed experience - First things first: the hotel is ideally located and looks stunning. The hotel staff is outstandingly friendly and professional as you can expect from a Leading Hotel Of The World. However there have been a few downsides which only refer to my individual experiences and to room 224 (Deluxe category) in which I stayed. Those experiences might not be representative for other guests or guest rooms. The interior design itself was very appealing and matched the pictures shown on the hotel website. The room was well equipped and the bathroom featured a very nice and richly filled amenity kit with products from Chopard. Also a complimentary bottle of water was provided - sadly not a standard anymore in nowadays. So far so good. Although this guest room was separated from the corridor with even two doors it was very noisy during our stay. The room is not ideally located close to a sort of facility or cleaning station which means that trolleys are stored somewhere next to the door and you could hear the staff talking and receiving phone calls in front of the room even during the late evening and early morning hours. Noises of clinking dishes, glasses and slamming doors are a constant companion during the night. There is no noise cancellation at all. Despite the room is facing a little side street from which noise is echoing right into the room. I very often book and prefer rooms with city view but usually hotels of this category have noise insulated windows. That did not seem to be the case in that particular room. Despite windows cannot be opened as the window handle was detached. If I could rate the room for noise pollution, it truly deserves a 10 out of 10. Absolutely nothing for people who are sensitive to noise or who have to struggle with an autistic impairment. However I would like to emphasize that the housekeeping staff was always very friendly and professional and I am sure that they were not aware of the situation. Nonetheless it might be the best - for guests and staff - if they had a social space for breaks instead of using the hallway. Although the room looked nice on the first sight it was very worn. The wallpaper had dozens of unpleasant stains and the wooden furniture was full of scratches, chips and dents. I was told that the hotel will face a renovation soon. However I have seen better maintained rooms in equally historic and iconic hotels. Another disturbing thing is a way too short cable of the hair dryer which forces you to kneel in front of the sink and a non matching description for the use of the mixer tap. It takes studies of rocket sciences to figure out how to finally receive warm water although a description is placed next to the tap. As one of us was vegan breakfast became a challenge. There were freshly and nicely prepared vegetables presented in a bowl with sausage next to it. Although there were tongs you could never be sure whether the tong for vegetables was not used for sausages and vice versa. That is not very thoughtful. However once mentioned that one of us is vegan a very polite gentleman from the restaurant staff took care of us and arranged some individually and freshly prepared vegan food for us. The quality and taste of the food was excellent. It was lovely prepared and presented. Service here was definitely way beyond expectations and matched highest standards. That for sure was hospitality at its best. Very well done. Chapeau and thank you for having us left with a smile. Would we come back or recommend the hotel? Definitely. We throughout the stay felt warmly welcomed but also noticed a struggle of keeping the standard. If you are looking for a hotel with an outstanding service and a distinctive architectural design then Casa Fuster is the place to stay.

- 1644 (10/5): Overall a little gem - Wow …we loved our stay here.The hotel was designed in the Antoni Gaudi style by Catalan architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner,who also designed The Hospital de Sant Pau and Palau de la Música Catalana, declared World The rooms were spacious and has everything you could think of…the turn down service is just one of the little finishing touch’s …the only thing I would say is the bath is very high and climbing into the shower could be tricky for some guests The breakfast room is beautiful and the selection of food excellent with lots of choice The bar area is stunning with fabulous views down the Passieg de Gràcia …and the rooftop area such perfect if the weather is ok …we had fabulous views of the Barcelona Christmas lights from here …although it was too cold to sit up there during our stay Overall a little gem

- StuckinBangers (10/5): Great hotel in great location - This is a beautifully atmospheric hotel in a fantastic location in the main part of Barcelona but a little bit outside of the crowds. It has so many streets near it that have beautiful little local restaurants. It doesn’t feel too touristy. The rooms are big high ceilings, great showers, comfy beds. The staff are very accommodating very good service.

The room we stayed on was dark and dingy and didnt have any outlook despite what it promised. If you going to stay there, make sure it's 4th floor or above. There is a "pool" upstairs the size of a jacuzzi. The hotel is dark and depressing.Breakfast was also disappointing and expensive.
- Shell-llehS (10/5): Short pre cruise stay - Fantastic stay would definitely recommend. We stayed for 2 nights pre cruise booking. Location is fantastic just a 10 minute walk to Las Rambles and 15 minutes to the beach. Service was excellent. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment. The rooms are quite dark our room overlooked a side street with a building straight opposite so the view wasn’t brilliant, but what you get for a city centre hotel. The roof top bar was great after a day sightseeing. The bar on the ground floor was great and luxurious. All in all would definitely recommend.

- martymO4916EQ (10/5): Casa Fuster is a hotel we will never forget - Wow, what an amazing place! I would call Casa Fuster a genuine Catalan hotel. If you want to stay in a commercial totally impersonal hotel then this one is not for you. But if you want to stay in a place with so much character and charm, where it’s slightly different then this is the perfect hotel. ALL the staff were absolutely wonderful, so smilie and very very helpful. We went to Casa Fuster for a family reunion and all the staff knew and celebrated with us, what a marvellous individual hotel. The breakfast restaurant manager always welcomed us, had time for a quick chat and remembered everyone’s coffee order - that was feat in itself. I would also like to say a massive thank you to all the staff on the roof terrace bar, they were such fun - and no request was to much. Thank you Casa Fuster, you made our stay in Barcelona so memorable.

- fleetoffoot (2/5): Absolutely Awful - Unfortunately my trip to Barcelona started very badly with my bag and phone being snatched within 20 minutes of arriving in the centre. It is only when you loose your phone that you realise your whole world is linked to it! What made the experience a zillion times worse was the hotel policy. Apparently I could not make any international calls from my room. I had to go to reception and ask them to place the call. Never in all my years of travelling have I come across this policy. I couldn’t easily call my family to let them know what had happened or my mobile provider to cancel my phone access. Apparently I was suppose to do this stood at reception, where there was no privacy. I was extremely upset and tearful, dealing with police, shock and trying to access passwords etc. Not being able to do this in my own room was completely ridiculous. I would not expect this policy in a 2 star hotel, let alone a supposedly 5 star one. Equally when I asked reception if they could call my husband and ask him to call me in the room, they seemed unable to do that too. In fact the lady at reception was completely disinterested in my plight. Having spent several hours at the police station, I was able to witness first hand the enormity of numbers of tourists having phones and passports stolen. There was quite literally a queue out of the door. The police were excellent, kind and helpful but this problem is at epidemic proportions in Barcelona. Si if that is the case, the hotel must have other guests facing the same trauma and needing to make international calls. How can they have such a terrible, archaic system in place. It makes no sense and made my experience of the hotel completely wretched.

He is a valuable employee at the Hotel!! Another team member that I want to acknowledge is Danka. Her vast knowledge and information at the front desk was invaluable and greatly appreciated! Her assistance in reservations for dinners or events as well as her warm smile and personality made our stay more comfortable. The terrace bar has a spectacular view and an appealing ambiance. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. If you like late 19th/early 20th century architecture and furniture, Casa Fuster will surpass your expectations. The staff is great. Anything you need is brought to your room in 5 minutes. Breakfast was excellent with a lot of variety and fast service, both buffet and a la carte. We were all thrilled to stay in this gem in Barcelona

- laura (10/5): - Beautiful and welcoming property and staff. We arrived around 10am after a very long travel day/night from Florida. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were able to go directly to our room. It was a wonderful surprise!! This was our first trip abroad where we were able to check in immediately and take a nap. Jazz night was very enjoyable and the Lara was our favorite cocktail. Highly recommend.
- Rare123 (6/5): Dissatisfied stay - This is a really beautiful historical hotel in a good quiet location . Breakfast is in a downstairs basement room, a very interesting location . I had the most delicious poached eggs and avocado on toast ever! The food choice is outstanding . This now is when I come to the disappointing part of our stay .We chose this hotel as it was part of Leading hotels of the world . It advertised a pool, rooftop and gym. When we went to use the rooftop we were told by a rude staff member there was a private function on that night and we could not use the area or gym . Secondly we had no hot water on our first night ,no staff explained this on check in. To top this off staff member entered our room in the afternoon without knocking or ringing the bell. This has never happened in all our years of travelling. Unfortunately we won’t be recommending this hotel .

- adventuretraveler4 (10/5): A beautiful hotel with character! - There are many beautiful hotels in Barcelona, but Casa Fuster absolutely tops the list for me. The location is superb in a quiet area of Passeig de Gracia, but also very close to many of the best Barcelona sights. (Casa Battlo, Pedrera, Sagrada familia, Casa Vicens). It was designed by Montaner with recognizable design details of his most famous architectural design, Palau Musica. The roof top restaurant looks down the most beautiful street in Barcelona. Breakfasts are plentiful, varied and delicious. Most importantly, the staff is absolutely amazing, very kind and helpful. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. I cannot think of a better place to stay in Barcelona. P.S. the turn down service includes the best chocolates I've ever had! P.P.S. when I was there in May both Ralph Fiennes and Richard Gere were also staying there!

Excellent breakfasts in room. (I guess it is common to find hotel lobbies are saturated by strong perfume. Not pleasant.)
- theyoussefs (8/5): Very nice hotel in a beautiful area, but with some small drawbacks that added up - The Hotel Casa Fuster is a beautiful and very nice hotel, but given that it is a 5 star hotel some of my (very high) expectations were not fully met. Starting with the strong points, the hotel is a beautiful and well-maintained building in one of Barcelona’s nicer neighborhoods. The rooms were quite beautifully furnished, the beds were huge (they seemed like oversized king beds), and the rooms and bathrooms were appointed as one would expect / hope in a 5 star hotel. The hotel has a very nice rooftop bar area, a lobby restaurant which had jazz one night while we were there, a Michelin star restaurant on the first floor, and a very nice breakfast buffet on the floor below the ground floor. The reception, door, and concierge staff were all warm and welcoming. In our room we had some nice chocolate, fruit and wine treats to welcome us upon our arrival, and turndown service includes leaving a couple of chocolates in the room nightly. All quite nice. It’s also worth noting that the hotel, at the end of the Paseo de Gracia, has great views of the nicest street in Barcelona and is quite centrally located. However, centrally located doesn’t mean that is very close to the main attractions! The Barcelona Cathedral (one of the closer points in the old city / Gothic Quarter) is a 1.5 mile walk to the southeast (and the start of La Rambla is slightly less than that), the Sagrada Familia is 1 mile walk to the east, Park Guell is a 1.4 mile walk to the north, the Christopher Columbus statue / monument a 2 mile walk to the south… so we found ourselves taking cabs most of the time and Barcelona traffic isn’t great! (The metro is another option, if you are inclined..) On to some of the drawbacks. While service was friendly there were a few occasions where things weren’t quite as expected. On three different occasions, something that was expected (based on what we’d arranged at booking or a request that was made during our stay) was missed. When I called the front desk it was promptly addressed each time, but I do expect more from a hotel of this caliber. When we checked in the room was very warm. When I lowered the temperature in the room it probably took about 6 hours to hit the target temperature. The hair dryer in the bathroom is attached to the side of the vanity and the cord isn’t long enough (or flexible enough) to allow a person to comfortably use it while standing in front of the mirror. (They do provide a small metal stool you can use, probably because they realize this). You need to keep your room key in one of those key slots to turn on the lights in the room, which is a bit annoying if you want to run out of the room with someone staying behind (in fairness I don’t know if this is a city requirement but if not then it’s something that maybe the hotel might wish to consider - perhaps providing guests an extra key on check-in). The room service staff were a bit overzealous in getting rid of extra papers (like the one we got on check-in that had the WiFi password written on it!) and unplugging and putting away my wall charger daily. We had no way to physically connect a laptop or iPad to our TV and the technology to wirelessly connect wasn’t working. Breakfast was great but you couldn’t serve yourself coffee, and ordering and receiving it could take a while. No one thing that big a deal, but in aggregate I ding them a bit for it. Maybe we’re overly picky… but at a hotel of this caliber we feel that the details matter, and honestly many of them were better addressed at the hotels we stayed at in other cities in our stay, none of which were 5 star properties… With all that said, when it comes to the fundamentals, it’s still a very nice and quite comfortable hotel with helpful, responsive, and friendly staff.

- Tonyhadley (8/5): Beautiful old girl!! - We have just returned from five nights at this beautiful hotel. The architecture is stunning and the location could not have been better for us. Situated at the head of a Barcelona street packed with luxury brands, it stands proud & rightly so. It is surprising that it hasn’t operated as a hotel for many decades as it feels like it could tell many tales and secrets of those that have passed through its doors. . The staff add to this grandeur - giving you a feeling they have worked there for ever. Delightfully friendly and welcoming, and with old fashioned values make them a joy to be around. Our room was on the fifth floor overlooking the beautiful street below. The room was big and well equipped. The bed was huge and one if the most comfortable we have ever slept on. If we were going to be critical, it was a tad tired in places but all added to the feel of an old matriarch of a hotel. Breakfast was in the basement of the building. The ceiling in this room was utterly stunning - very gaudi esq with beautiful natural contours and painted gold. Sadly the rest of the room did not live up to this. Depressing beige corporate chairs and pale walls completely rid the room of any personality. If you hadn’t looked up you’d think you were in a chain hotel somewhere - and quite a depressing one at that!! If this room was filled with sumptuous deep colours and textiles it would be utterly glorious - as it is, it is pretty soulless and doesn’t encourage you to hang around longer than necessary. That said, breakfast was good - not amazing - but a solid 7/10 with most things you would hope to find at a buffet breakfast. The toaster probably needs replacing though - you could eat a couple of courses prior to the toast popping up!!! We only visited the bar and the roof garden once each - drinks are mega expensive which is a shame. Feels a little unnecessarily mean. Overall, would we stay again? Yes, we absolutely would. The location, the fabulous bed and the staff more than make up for the imperfections of this beautiful old girl of a hotel. Thank you to all for looking after us so well.

Our room was perfect for two, and the best part was that it was just a lovely 30-minute walk to the Sagrada Familia. We really enjoyed our time at the Casa Fuster Hotel.

We had a beautiful suite with a fabulous view. Breakfast every morning was delicious with a superb choice. We also ate in Café Vienes -very atmospheric. What made the stay so memorable were the wonderful staff; everyone was helpful and warm from reception and concierge, breakfast, Café, doorman and room service. Please give our thanks to the wonderful concierge who secured tickets for us to Sagrada Família. We are very grateful to her.

- Sandra (10/5): I Can't Wait To Go Back - This was a beautiful hotel, on a beautiful street made even more so by the eye-catching Christmas decorations. We were within walking distance of lots of great shopping and wonderful restaurants. The hotel staff was friendly, cheerful and professional. We were always greeted with a smile and everyone was so helpful; giving us recommendations for restaurants, making reservations, directions, getting us taxis, etc. The rooms were spacious and clean and the beds very comfortable. We had the breakfast buffet every morning and everything was delicious. I've travelled all over the world and stayed in more hotels than I can remember but the Hotel Casa Fuster is definitely in my top ten.
- Rodrigo (8/5): Good hotel, not perfect. - Check-in experience was very bad, door man was very rude (not Eugene, he was pretty cool, it was his mate). Check-in woman at desk also kinda "I don't care"/unfriendly. Rooms are nice, bathtub "cork" was broken, other than that everything is clean and bed comfortable. At check out a good experience, everyone friendly. I'm used to rate every hotel at 5 stars but this will get a 4 this time.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Terrible customer service. - The service was terrible the first day. The AC was not working, it took an hour and a half to send someone to look at it. We had to call again because it wasn’t fixe, waited another half an hour for someone to come to resolve the issue.I asked for a luggage rack, waited 2 hours finally i got it after calling again. The internet was terrible and they kept giving excuses. Coffee machine was not working. Unacceptable customer service from a 5 star hotel. Not worth the money.

Fantastic staff and the hotel itself is extremely nice inside/rooms are well appointed and in my opinion well prices at $220 Euros per nightWell located in Barcelona, close to restaurants, tapa bars, cruise port,as well as tourist attractions, which includes the hop on/hop off bus and the famous cathedral.
- MissQ2017 (10/5): Warm and true hospitality at heart. Incredible experience! - The stay at Casa Fuster Hotel was one of the best experiences of my life. The hotel itself is really beautiful, but the people that work there are unparalleled. Every single person we encountered was exceptionally attentive and went above and beyond at every step. I was there with my 7 years-old daughter who loves her dolls and loves to travel. From the restaurant manager, to the bar manager, to the servers, to the bell man, to the pianist at the Cafe Vienes, every single person was absolutely incredible. The breakfast restaurant manager even learned the names of my daughter's dolls and brought "breakfast" to one of her toy horses. My daughter will always remember this experience and everyday still talks about it. This stay was so special and unique that we left with very full hearts and a great desire to return soon. Additionally, the hotel is incredibly well located and we walked to many points of interest, or just went for a short evening walk to get roasted chestnuts.

- Leanne (8/5): - The property needs serious physical upgrades. There were tears in the carpets in the hallways, and cracks in the marble in the bathrooms. A travel companion had noise problems with the air conditioning unit in the room, and a light in the closet in my particular room malfunctioned and stayed on all night. The staff was really wonderful, accommodating, and kind. The location is wonderful and I felt very safe in the neighborhood.
- tonyj380 (10/5): Top Quality Hotel - Super-posh hotel in a lovely building that we booked into for our 20th wedding anniversary. Room was huge, views from the room and the rooftop terrace were great. Staff were friendly and super helpful. They even gave us a bottle of cava for our anniversary, which was very nice! Thoroughly recommend! The only negative was that the room had a vast TV, but it was not possible to link it to any of our devices, so were limited to only the channels on the TV itself, which was quite frustrating.

- barbboston (10/5): Lovely Charming Hotel - The hotel is absolutely lovely. The architecture is amazing. We had a lovely suite that was large and gracious with a view of the Passeig de Gracia. The location is very convenient for walking everywhere in Barcelona. There are a lot of great tapas bars within walking distance of the hotel. The service was excellent. The hotel still provides a lot of additional old word amenities like turndown service and chocolates at night. Breakfast was amazing. The piano bar in the lobby is perfect to cap off a lovely day.

- vodaorl (10/5): Best hotel in Barcelona - What can be said about a luxurious, 5-star hotel in the center of Barcelona, near Casa Milà, built by Gaudi’s mentor—a true work of art. I had the chance to stay for five days, and I was profoundly impressed by the doormen’s warm smiles, their kindness, the discretion and attentiveness of the housekeeping staff who changed our silky sheets daily, bringing us exquisite dark chocolate. A top-notch bar, a fine restaurant… truly an unforgettable experience.
