Close to St. Stephen's Green, we either walked or took short rides to various destinations. The hotel is tucked inside a local street, surrounded by shops and food options, as well as a short distance to the Stephen's Green shopping center, which has good restaurants tucked outside of it. There were lots of places for coffee, desert, really nice meals, and the obvious pub scene. The bathroom was good, with a large soaking tub/shower combo and, like other reviewers mentioned, the light switch was on the outside wall (an odd little surprise). Towels were clean and reasonably soft, but not 5-star hotel quality. Staff were friendly, housekeeping was on task. Like a lot of reviewers, we noticed a mildewy smell to the room and immediately aired it out (but it wasn't black mold because I didn't get any headaches or vertigo). A lamp was lacking on the long tv and desk along one wall, but housekeeping brought us one. Instead of the beautiful "2 doubles" room pictured on the website, our 2-bed room was a queen moved to the left to make room for a twin against the wall; not optimal for two adults but we took it in stride. The restaurant attached to the hotel does a booming night-time pub business and a lot of people sit at the outdoor tables until midnight, when they are forced inside (think loud talking, laughter, cigarettes). This is to be expected. What was unexpected was the loud crashing each night, in the wee hours, as bottle bins were filled and moved around right under our window and picked up by loud trucks -- suggest you ask for a room away from Caribou restaurant. Also, you can do better than the Caribou breakfast so save your money and go elsewhere.

- maureen (10/5): An oasis in middle of lively Dublin - This is a fabulous central location with lively pubs and restaurants and teeming social life. It’s walking distance to posh stores on Grafton St, Trinity, and lively entertainment in Temple Bar; don’t miss the nearby Literary Pub Crawl!! Buses close by to other locations city-wide. We were surprised it was quiet for sleeping. Staff was super friendly and helpful for directions, restaurant suggestions, getting a bus and anything else needed! Thanks ladies!! The room was lovely. Nice shower and good beds too. Prices in the restaurant were a bit steep compared to local restaurants. Lots of other choices available.

Coffees and teas in the room were lovely. Was a bit expensive for what you got. Also there is a pub/bar at the bottom so if you’re a light sleeper that might be an issue. Also the shower don’t have conditioner - just conditioning shampoo - so if that matters to you, bring your own conditioner.

The girl who checked us in gave us the map took time to help us out and recommended a taxi to make a super early train. And she called it for us. Plus we are returning in two weeks. Very charming. My room was booked with a bathtub, however when I asked the staff at the front staff she very swiftly said that was not possible to get a room with one. I didn't argue, but I definitely would suggest that if I am not getting a room with a bath, than do not show that in the booking that my room will have one. Having that expectation beforehand only for it to not be fulfilled was a shame. I would recommend being extra thorough when making your booking if this is something you want, make it very clear to staff in your booking request.
