Pancakes were so tough though could barely cut with a knife so we left them. Location is a bit far from city center so we had to cab it to and from.

There is a walk to most things and dining establishments were at times a bit of a walk. Not too much in the immediate area. We would possibly stay again as for the most part it was a good hotel stay.

Rene (6/5): - The property was very safe and in walking distance to most venues, under 2kms from Temple bar area (we enjoy getting out and walking around). The room was large and the bed was comfortable (we had larger king room). Unfortunately the hotel was being renovated at the time and we had issues with the water, which was out of the control of the staff, which was professional given the stressful situation. The rating would definitely be higher under normal circumstances. I would stay there again under the right circumstances.
Simon Ian (8/5): - Great location, city centre only 15/20minute walk away. Plenty of selection for breakfast, friendly staff, pool, sauna, steam room and a hot tub, a nice bonus. Currently building work in progress, which wasnt an issue but was not made aware prior to arrival. Also building work next door to the hotel again no issues with noise or anything. Rooms are slightly dated, shower water pressure poor, due an upgrade but very clean, spacious and a comfy bed. No air con in the room, a fan is provided but not the best. Overall great hotel, would stay again.

Staff couldn’t even give us a recommendation for where to eat when they advised the restaurant was closed at like 9pm. Meh. Wouldn’t stay there again. Oh and the pool sucked cause tons of kids and you have to wear swimmer hats. Weird.
Patrick Pearse (6/5): - If I had known the property was under renovation, I would have picked another hotel. Getting into the hotel involved a long walk from the street with our suitcases. My wife has mobility issues. Why there is not a way to request a porter at the taxi stand is beyond me. Then since the property wants to be "green", everyday we had to request more towels. It was not a very pleasant experience.

Scott (4/5): Under Renovation! - The hotel was a construction site and was booked to capacity which made everything extremely difficult from accessing reception, to breakfast and just finding rooms with areas closed off! Rooms do not have air con which during a summer day and night made it extremely uncomfortable. Considering the price this was definitely one not to return to!

We wished there was a larger selection on the dinner menu at night. And, 18 euro for the breakfast buffet was too much given the light breakfast we like. But, we had a wonderful two weeks and would return.
ryan (6/5): An average stay - This is not a 4 star property of experience, it is a 2.5-3. It is a bit dated and does not have a fan or fridge to aid in comfort. The construction was not a nuisance for us as it was for others leaving reviews. The pool is mainly used for kids lessons based on our time going to it. Parking on the weekend nearby on the street was not an issue for us, but guessing weekdays would be difficult. This hotel is proximal to Aviva stadium, epic and the theater, but not very close to the main shopping district, brewery, and such. The ability to pre-check in is nice and use the kiosk on arrival.

We were only thee for 3 days and 2 of these days we had no running water in the room.So we couldn’t get showered in the evening or even flush the toilet.Not ideal when you are going out for a meal and a show in the evening.Hotel staff not very helpful as they said it was out of there control.

Hotel rooms were comfortable although there some issues with towels/gowns (missing) and there was building works taking place whilst we were there. Also issues with the water supply on our last day but this was sorted and we were given a later check out time. Opted to take breakfast in the booking and this was good. Reasonable walk into the city centre and the sites and there were some local pubs nearby to visit. It would be somewhere I would consider staying again.

The chicken was maybe 2 ounces.

The smell of the carpets was not exactly pleasant. Various homeless folks hung out at the area and making noises throughout the night, which occasionally woke me up. Worst though was that both mattress and pillows felt like filled with rocks - not just firm, but extremely hard and uncomfortable. This made it impossible to get a decent sleep throughout the entire week of my stay.

Leslie (8/5): - The lady at reception, Mari, was efficient and really helpful, and took the time to guide us about how to catch buses and where to buy the leaf travel tickets . The hotel has no in-house parking and finding the discount public car park was very difficult as no map or coordinates were available .
Katherine (8/5): Self check-in……..not a fan. - Booked a one night stay with my adult son and daughter to attend a show at the Bord Gais theatre. We had limited time from check-in till the show started so we didn’t want any delays to give us time to grab a bite before the show. However when we arrived at the hotel I was directed to a self check-in machine that I was unfamiliar with and had a lot of sections to fill in, (even though there were 2 receptionists at the desk and no one else waiting to check-in). This took way more time than a check-in would, or should, normally take, putting us under pressure…………not a great start to our evening. The restaurant, bar and breakfast staff were lovely as was the food. Rooms very nice and comfy beds but we were roasting with the heat of the room and there was no air conditioning so not a great sleep. There was a desk-top electric fan left in the room but there was 3 of us so we had to pick which of us got the benefit of it.

Bernard F (8/5): - Lovely hotel. In middle of Reno’s so a bit inconvenient but staff were super accommodating and friendly. Walkable to bus station, restaurants and tourist attractions. Pubs around corner were great.

Helen (8/5): - Thr beds were comfortable and the buffet breakfast was lovely with a big choice. The pool was an added advantage. The hotel was convenient for transport and getting to places by walking. It was a shame we couldnt use the balconies.

Maureen (10/5): - We actually choose this hotel because it has a pool. After touring almost the entire Republic of Ireland, I thought my granddaughters would like it. THEY DID! And the breakfast buffet was amazing!

Carolyn (8/5): A very nice hotel - We had a lovely 2 night stay at The Clayton Hotel. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. An issue with early check in as room was not ready on time, however we received a small refund to compensate. Breakfast was not included when we came to check in however it was clear on our booking it was, again this was rectified quickly both issues sorted a lovely lady on Reception, who was professional and courteous. Breakfast was fabulous with a fantastic choice. A lovely swimming pool, good size. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel for a city break.

claire (8/5): Lovely - Hotel was excellent, clean and accessible. The only fault would be the lack of AC in the room when it was hot during our stay. We did use a fan however there was 3 of us and a mini one to share. I loved the water bottles provided and we enjoyed our stay. Breakfast choices were amazing but there weren’t enough supervision for children who would grab pastries with their hands and putting them back. But that’s on their parents rather than staff 😊

Joseph (8/5): - Overall a great experience. Very friendly, kind, helpful staff; Very clean hotel and room; Amazing breakfast! Full Irish breakfast and more! One problem is the lack of A/C and ventilation in the room. Not having A/C seems common in Ireland, which makes sense since it hardly ever gets very warm. However, the room still got pretty stuffy with 4 people in it, and the deck door only opened a few inches. The fan was helpful but it was still too warm and stuffy to sleep with any covers on.
