lelia (2/5): Malisima experiencia - El.hotel estaba todo tapiado y cerrado habia pegada una hoja toda mojada que apenas se.leia que quienes tenian reserva debian dirigirse a una direccion que quedaba como.a.15 cuadras del.lugar Cuando llegamos.al.otro.hotel la noche salio como 3000.pesos.mas. la.habitacion que nps dieron era super.pequeña y con muchisimo olor a humedad. Lo único rescatable fue el.desayuno
Daniel (2/5): - Wir haben keine Nachricht erhalten, dass das Hotel geschlossen ist!! Wir hatten eine lange Anreise und mussten zu einem anderen Hotel gehen (Hotel Colon gemäss Notiz am geschlossenen Eingang) und dort war auch Chaos! Eine Katastrophe!! Nach 4 Stunden warten und eine weitere Taxifahrt haben wir einen Tipp bekommen und sind leider in einem total anderen Stadtteil als geplant. Wir verlangen das Geld zurück oder eine Genugtuung dazu!! ¡¡¡No recibimos ningún mensaje de que el hotel estaba cerrado!!! ¡Tuvimos un largo viaje y tuvimos que ir a otro hotel (Hotel Colon según la nota en la entrada cerrada) y también hubo caos! ¡¡Un desastre!! Después de 4 horas de espera y otro viaje en taxi, conseguimos una propina y, por desgracia, estamos en una parte de la ciudad totalmente diferente a la prevista. Exigimos la devolución de nuestro dinero o la satisfacción.
ALFREDO (2/5): - This hotel does not exist. When we arrived the place was boarded up and there was a paper indicating to go to another hotel about 6 blocks away. There we had to wait quite a while until we were given a room to stay.
SHOGO (2/5): - When I arrived at the hotel, it was closed. There was an poster which said you needed to go to another hotel where it would take 25mins on foot from the original location. Nobody sent me anything in advance.

Ficamos em um quarto com paredes finas em que se ouvia tudo do outro quarto (inclusive momentos de relações íntimas e conversas ao telefone, TV tbm). Ouvíamos também o barulho do elevador. Recepcionista disse que nso havia outro quarto disponível. Café da manhã razoável com poucas opções. Internet não funciona nos quartos, do na recepção. A localização é muito boa.

Ricardo (8/5): Excelente Ubicación! - El hotel es antiguo, pero en general funcional. Habitaciones amplias, cómodas y limpias. El desayuno continental es basico, pero bueno y suficiente. La atencion es buena en general, personal amable. Lo mejor es la ubicación del hotel, Muy Céntrico, a 3 cuadras (6 minutos) está la calle peatonal La Florida, donde encuentras todo, y muy cerca de las Galerías Pacífico. También está a 3 cuadras hacia el mar el Puerto Madero, muy bonito, y ahi está la terminal de Buquebus, donde puedes tomar un tour a Colonia, y también una terminal de buses, donde puede tomar el bus Tienda León para ir/regresar a cualquiera de los aeropuertos, resulta más conveniente para grupos a partir de 5 personas, pues de otro modo tienes que tomar 2 taxis y resulta muy caro. Oficinas de bus turístico está cerca también, quizas la mejor opción de recorrer toda la zona turística de Buenos Aires. Resulta más conveniente tomar el bus de 48 horas. Para paseos por alguna Estancia ellos te recogen y dejan en el hotel, igual para alguna noche de tango. No cambiar dólares en cambistas de la calle, es mejor en casas de cambios. Llevar billetes de $ 50 o 100, pues te pagan menos por billetes de $ 20.

La habitación no tenía calefacción ni wifi, esto estaba incluído en los servicios que ofrecía el hotel, las chicas de la recepción muy amables y queridas. En general no lo recomiendo ni volveré a hospedarme ahí, por ese valor se encuentran otros lugares mejores. Es una lastima

Además para comunicarme con recepción tuve q llamar durante 40 minutos xq el teléfono daba siempre ocupado. Jesse (6/5): - What can I say that others haven’t said already? The hotel is in a good part of town but it looks like it hasn’t been renovated since the 1960s. Not worth the $100+ they charged for one night. The breakfast bar looked decent, we didn’t try it.

Doug (4/5): A sweltering oven. - I was there in July, i.e. the middle of winter. This was bad as the rooms don't have their own temperature controls. I.e. it is controlled by the front desk. They had the heat blasting so high it must have been 30 degrees in my room and requests to turn it down resulted in no effect. I had this booked for three nights. I stayed two, then had to find someplace else. Of course, I still had to pay the third night as "cancellations must be 24 hours prior to check-in". Additionally, very poor wifi and I had ants in my room. In fairness to the place, the location is good, they had a decent breakfast and the room sizes were ok.

Jeff (6/5): Good Price and Great Location - Pros for this hotel were the price and the location. We had two rooms and one was pretty good. In the other room, the fan did not work over the bed and central air for both rooms did not keep them as cool as we would have liked. Lots of mosquitos in one room and no screens on the windows, so I now have about ten bites, which are always a concern in a tropical location. Breakfast was OK, but standard pastries, ham and cheese and nothing too exciting. This hotel is showing its age and is priced accordingly. The Concord, a sister hotel around the block seemed a better choice, but did not see the rooms.

Verified traveler (4/5): Low budget hotel in BA - For the price, I guess it was okay. The pictures on the website looked nice, but the room was dirty, hairs everywhere, toilet won't flush. The elevator breaks down occasionally, and WIFI doesn't work, we had to use a ethernet cable connection to get very slow internet. Breakfast was good, staff is friendly and helpful, probably the only good things about this place.

Also did sightseeing, met new people, and visited some old friends, also did some footing around the city with a nice temperature and I liked it a lot.
solo traveller (6/5): Clean central hotel - Firstly the pros Clean Value for money as in it was affordable Location - close to bars on Reconquistador st and not far from Retiro and puerto Madero Great if you love self operated old style lifts Staff friendly enough Toiletries provided CRT tv provided Cons Shower head doesn't spread the water or adjust but this is ok if you like bring hosed down. Wifi was very patchy. Would not connect to floor wifi but could just get lobby wifi if I stood next to the room door. Then it cut in and out often.Not so good for travellers then. Asked for a double got twin singles that were lumpy / springy. Although perfectly clean etc room was just a little dated and needs a refresh. There are better options within a few blocks for a few dollars more but if only here a few nights its fine

Verified traveler (8/5): A good value hotel in a central location - This hotel was great value for money in a very central location. There were three of us, my parents and I, and so the room was perfect as it had the third bed on the otherside of the bathroom and near to the door and so I could get in later without disturbing anyone. We had the extra benefit of a balcony which seemed to be the only one in the hotel and had three chairs and a table, although it didn't seem to be part of the cleaning rota, There was a slight smell of damp as the extractor didn't work in the bathroom and the air conditioning was set rather cold and you couldn't adjust it but in general the room was lovely. The reception was very welcoming and there was a buzzer system and so you felt very secure. The staff were well presented and helpful and most spoke english. All in all a lovely experience.
old nomad (6/5): don't walk over there - from EZE you may take "Manuel Tienda Leon" shuttle @55 peso to Sheraton hotel and then walk to this Catalina Suites nearby, much cheaper than taxi @160 peso. But no one knew that when I was at the airport. I was directed to the Bus#8, which took me to a spot dozens of blocks away after 2 hours zigzag way throughout the city. worse than that, when i walked to the hotel via the street where the hotel is located, i was attacked by a couple of aggressive thieves who approached me pretending to clean the dirt they threw upon me from behind, i knew this old trick so that just tried to walk away from them but still too late. my money was all gone after i struggled out of them and found it later. bad to have such an experience, isn't it! the street where the hotel is located is a bit desolated and dirty. I don't recommend to walk over there. the hotel staff is nice and helpful. they helped me exchange some bucks after i discovered the situation otherwise i didn't know how to deal with it in the later afternoon at that time.

Pete (4/5): Felt unsafe and highly unimpressed with quality - I felt rather unsafe when walking to the hotel after dark, the neighborhood seemed to be right on the edge of good and bad, if I went two or three blocks in a couple directions, everything felt fine, but not at the hotel itself. To get in the door, you had to be buzzed in the front door! There was no air conditioning, and I think the heat was still on, as each time I got back to my room, it was extremely warm in the room. The towels were threadbare and rather rough. The first time I pulled the sheets down, I found a number of hairs all over the bed sheet - that certainly weren't mine! Ewww!
old nomad (8/5): updated information required - from EZE you may take "Manuel Tienda Leon" shuttle @55 peso to Sheraton hotel and then walk to this Catalina Suites nearby, much cheaper than taxi @160 peso. But no one knew that when I was at the airport. Alexei (8/5): Great location for a decent price - Pretty good overall experience. The hotel is old and requires renovation - it felt like I was staying in the a 1960s hotel. But rooms were clean, internet was fast, and location was excellent.
Verified traveler (2/5): Do not trust hotel photos and Location! - Look for other options. The hotel is NOT in Puerto Madero and the photos do not reflect the real conditions of rooms. I stayed with my wife here. There is no heating control in the room. The heating is centralized. We were freezing even that we call several time to reception to increase temperature, however they told us that other clients request to lower temperature. The treat of the staff is not the nicer and the location is horrible!! and dirty at night. Look for other places!! do not stay here!!

Verified traveler (4/5): Old, noisy, and run-down.... - The Hotel, like most in Argentina are old and run-down. The rooms near the road are VERY NOISY. But at least the sheets were clean.

It's dirty, staff lazy and unfriendly, room service doesn't exist unlike what's written on their leaflet... We stayed there 3 nights, I was sick the second night. We asked them not to do the room but to bring water and toilet paper :-( They never came... And this is only one example...
Peter (10/5): I booked on the internet not knowing - I booked on the internet not knowing what to expect. When I arrived the reception was very efficient friendly and organised. The room was simple and straightforward but I was not looking for anything else.It was located at the front overlooking the street and I thought it might be noisy. It was not. I was not disturbed during the night. The same with the bathroom, perhaps a little tired in appearance but there was a good supply of hot water and a good shower. Breakfast was a buffet well presented and plenty to eat. Location is subjective. It suited me as i was visiting the city and happy to walk round. taxis too are very cheap to get you to other areas. To me it was excellent value for money. My son who I was meeting up with in B A thought the room was good for the money. He was backpackig and staying in a hostel elsewhere in the city.checkout again was efficient and friendly. I would stay there again.
Verified traveler (8/5): Catalinas Suites Hotel - Buenos Aires - This is an OLD property, the elevators are open-shaft and look like they've been there for 100 years. The staff is only OK. I requested a wake-up call on two consecutive mornings and they messed it up both times. Bathroom fixtures are old, everything is old and in need of refurbishment. The suite was very big, bed was fairly comfortable. Location is OK, about 8 blocks from 9 de Julio (main avenue of town) but surrounding area is not too safe to walk around at night. Also, the address is not Tucman, it's Tucuman.
Anonymous (6/5): Convenient, but noisy - This hotel is reasonably near the heart of El Centro in Buenos Aires, just a couple blocks from the Florida (several blocks of pedestrian-only street with lots of shops) and 2 blocks from the Subte (subway system). Plaza del Mayo and Retiro are within easy walking range. So the location works well. My room was equipped with a kitchenette, which included a small stove, refrigerator, and some plates and utensils. Very workable. There is a small balcony (at least for those rooms facing the street -- I'm not sure about the rest). Now the downside: I didn't think it was possible for a place to be noisier than my first apartment. This place puts my first apartment to shame. The diesel engines of the buses going up and down the street resonate in the room, as does the loud music from the neighbors. Granted, this is a very urban area, so it is not unexpected. But if you're after peace and quiet in a hotel, this is not your place. The staff was very courteous and helpful (albeit you will need to know at least some Spanish).
Anonymous (6/5): Very Good value for the price - This older hotel is located on Tucuman, in El Centro, the main business district. The room was larger than most similar hotels as it had a kitchen/dining area, and it was rented as a suite. If you like older, Buenos Aires charm, this place has it. The breakfast was fairly good. The lobby is inviting. Antique elevators that actually worked fine, but small. It is close to the Reconquista Ave restaurant, pub district. Staff pretty helpful. For value, this is a good hotel to stay it if you are on a budget.
js (6/5): I got what I paid for - The hotel was very well situated and was within walking distance of everything I wanted to see. However, the hotel is a bit older and the rooms are in need of some renovation. The carpets, beds, bathroom fixtures were all showing some wear. For the most part, it was well cared for even if everything was new. I do have two criticisms. First, the carpets were dirty and were in need of being cleaned. Second off, they have old, rickety "cage style" elevators and quite often other guests would forget to close the door all the way when they got out. When this happened, I had to climb the stairs to wherever the elevator was stuck. All in all, I might stay again as long as I wasn't traveling with my family.
Dean (10/5): Good room for the money - The rooms are just big enough for my six foot frame. There is hot water, everything works, and the room temperature is comfortable. The breakfast buffet is better than most.

Verified traveler (8/5): Great location for price paid - If you have earplugs (because of really thin walls, and noise from halls that echo into your room), and don't mind an old hotel, this is your kind of 2.5 star hotel. In the heart of the Microcentro District of BA, this hotel is within walking distance of the Puerto Madero (10 minutes), the Casa Rosada (15 minutes), Teatro Colon & BA Obelisk (15 minutes), and many other sites in the Buenos Aires area. Catching a cab from this centrally located hotel is seamless because of its downtown-like location. Hotel WiFi goes on and off several times within a minute, air conditioning (when it is on) is central air.

Verified traveler (10/5): great room for the money - staff was friendly and courteous check in time was 200pm.My flight arrived at 930am and I expected to have the hotel hold my bag and walk about town until my room was ready.To my surprise when I arrived at the hotel at 1030am they checked me in with no hesitation.It was my first trip to Bunos Aires and I was there for only the day.The downtown location of the hotel was great and walking distance to great restuarants.I would highly recommend this hotel and I will stay there again.
