• Colettejmeyer (10/5): Wonderful Respite - This is a gem tucked beside wetlands and a short walk to Playa del Rey Beach. I had a lovely room overlooking the preserve filled with a blue heron and other birds by day and a beautiful sunset and some city lights by night. The facility itself is nicely appointed with a lovely living room area for the afternoon wine hour and a breakfast room with outdoor patio. The breakfast was fresh, healthy and delicious. My room was very tastefully decorated, clean and peaceful. The staff was so kind and helpful. I enjoyed being able to walk to the adjacent restaurants for dinner, and especially the lovely beach and boardwalk area. I arrived solo for two nights to help my daughter move out of her dorm room at LMU, but felt treated to a luxurious retreat! Sipping wine while sitting in the Adirondack chair, basking in the setting sun while overlooking the ecological reserves the night before driving my daughter and her belongings 12 hours home was a welcome respite!

• Sightsee516966 (10/5): Absolutely delightful! - This pretty, well appointed boutique hotel was an absolute delight. If you're looking for an out-of-the-ordinary place to stay, this is it! We enjoyed a pretty, cozy room complete with a big bathroom and its own outdoor porch. My only small issue was being able to hear kitchen noises early in the morning-stuffed a bath towel under the door. Every staff member we met was kind and professional. Breakfast included fresh hand-cut fruit, yoghurt, homemade granola, a baked treat and eggs to order among others items. Afternoon included 3 choices of wine and snacks (enough cheese, but definitely ran out of crackers which were sadly never replenished). The beach is about 10 minutes walk. They offer towels, chairs & beach toys- just ask! This lovely lodging is a bit pricey, however the return on investment was big! This East coast person would definitely stay again, if ever in the area!

• PE-0987 (8/5): Great location, nice rooms, and staff but some rooms are quite noisy. - This is a very nice bed and breakfast inn located in a small business area of Playa del Rey. The back of the inn faces the Ballona Creek wetlands reserve which can be full of birds at times. The front of the inn faces Culver Blvd, a busy and usually noisy street, with heavy traffic in the morning and late afternoon/early evening. Within a 5 to 10 minute walk of the inn there are several small restaurants, a great coffee shop (Tanners), a liquor store and a local grocery store selling great sandwiches and imported Italian food products. The inn staff are helpful and friendly, serving a nice breakfast. The rooms facing the wetlands are usually quiet whereas I'd suspect that those facing the street are quite noisy (though I've never stayed in one of those rooms). Parking is free. Depending on the day and time of day it can take 15 to 45 minutes to get to Venice, Santa Monica and points north and the same amount of time to get to Manhattan Beach by car. LAX is an easy 15 minute drive away. I've stayed here twice, once in 307 and once in 304, both rooms facing the wetlands. Room 304 is very large, nicely furnished, very clean and comfortable. However it can be quite loud because immediately above it is the air conditioning compressor, and because water pipes in the room wall or ceiling provide water to other rooms on the floor so that you know when someone has flushed a toilet in another room. In addition there is a fireplace that faces both the large soaking tub in the bathroom and the main room, so that you can look through the fireplace glass doors from one room to another - there is no way to cover this and in the mornings there is bright light shining from the bathroom windows directly onto the bed. We had to cover this with a chair and blankets. The WiFi signal is weak and very slow with frequent outages. I'd suggest that you not book room 304. Room 307, which is smaller, had none of the noise issues found in 304.
• Jean (10/5): Wonderful spot to stay in a great location where you can just walk everywhere - Room was big and comfortable, common area includes a lovely "family room" with couches, chairs, tables, a fireplace and some great books with view of wetlands and this was location of a wonderfully well curated happy hour of wine and charcuterie, dining area in adjacent space also had view of wetlands and a deck where you could sit and eat. There are numerous great dining spots and the beach within walking distance
• Anna (10/5): Great hotel, will definitely be our go to in LA next time! - The rooms are large and well designed, there is a field and birds in front of the hotel (national reserver), wine&cheese every afternoon, great service, good value, stuff is very friendly and helpful, good breakfast, charming lobby with space to chill and read. Short drive to surfing beach! Some of the rooms are a bit noisy due to proximity to the road (closing the windows helps).

Good breakfast, though I wish they had something like pancakes or waffles. Room has what you need, but the fashionable furniture they have in the room looks like they got it at a Kmart sale. Nice living room area to sit in, if you have the time. Will stay again.

• AlvinI_12 (10/5): Perfect quiet spot near LAX! - The reviews are true! This is a gem of an "Inn" in the city of LA only 10-15 mins away from LAX. Better yet, there is almost never any traffic on route to LAX to or from this hotel. Nestled at the edge of the Ballona Wetlands marsh, this inn is an oasis in the jungle of LA. It has the atmosphere of a family run hotel--all the employees are personable and welcoming. I stayed in the Queen room partial view and was treated to a 3rd floor room overlooking the wetlands with a full balcony! Room was very large and bathroom boasts double sinks separate from toilet/shower area. Best of all, room was very quiet--no street or airplane noise! On top of that, there is a complimentary daily evening wine and cheese with 3-4 selection of wines and plenty of cheese, crackers and fruit. And even better, a complimentary breakfast every morning featuring the usual breads, pastries and fruit plus homemade granola and made to order omelets. Delicious! The only downside was the breakfast opens at 7:30 am so if you've got an early flight out, you'll miss the breakfast. Overall a definite hidden gem and quite reasonably priced as well given its location. I will definitely be staying here if the next time i need accommodations near LAX.

I will never stay on a big box LA hotel again... And I won't stay in Santa Monica because it is crazy close and a fraction of the price. Das Frühstück war sehr gut und frisch und wurde bis zum Schluss immer wieder nachgefüllt. Unser Zimmer war zur Strasse, welche sehr laut war und so hatten wir leider sehr wenig Schlaf. Das nächste Mal würde ich nach einem Zimmer zum Naturschutzgebiet fragen. Leider gab es diesmal keine Möglichkeit zu wechseln, da alles ausgebucht war.
• Judith (10/5): - Casa Riviera was a great place to stay. Everything was set up very well functionally and we had everything we needed. The location was ideal, walking distance from restaurants & shopping. The rooom was very pleasantly decorated. We would highly recommend staying there!

• 657cherg (10/5): Wonderful! - What a lovely Inn! The room we stayed in was large, clean and newly updated with a wonderful view. The breakfast was fantastic. Caroline was the host with most! She was so kind and friendly that by the time we left, she felt like family!

The breakfast ambiance was a little different every day, often even personalized to the guests – such a wonderful touch! We especially enjoyed the wider selection of egg dishes, breads, and cupcakes compared to last year. The warm and caring hospitality of Ms. Caroline Appel and her delightful young team made us feel happy and content every single day. Her valuable recommendations enriched our stay and made it even more relaxing. We sincerely thank Caroline Appel and her amazing team, and we are already looking forward to returning next year!
• Joshua (2/5): - AC was broken, called and informed the manager. Manager said they’d be there in 10-15 minutes. Manager name was Ken. He never showed up, left a message on the service. It was deleted Day team said, “sorry” and that was it no offer for anything else. The hotel itself was cute The elevator sounds like it’s going to break
• CathySiz (10/5): Lovely start to the holiday - We flew to Los Angeles from the UK and this inn was perfect for us to acclimatise to the time difference and have a relaxing evening. Stayed for 1 night: lovely, welcoming staff, beautifully clean reception and dining area, patio to enjoy the views and cheese/wine hour also breakfast the next morning. The breakfast was varied and very nice, with a lovely frittata dish as the special. The room was spacious with new bedding and towels and a comfy bed. A bonus was the free below ground level parking. A perfect stay.

It was very nice after a 4 hour plane ride. The room was very nice and clean. The breakfast was SO good! Lots of options and very yummy. Would recommend

Für kalifornische Verhältnisse wenig Autoverkehr in unmittelbarer Umgebung, daher angenehme Geräuschkulisse. Feines Frühstück, nette Zimmer. Nachmittags gab es Wein und Käse auf der Terrasse mit Blick auf ein Naturschutzgebiet. Absolut empfehlenswert,wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

• Carla (10/5): Perfect and quiet place to stay near the airport! - Great location; 10 minute walk to the beach, 10 minute drive to the airport! Short walk to restaurants. Lovely b&b accommodations with free parking onsite. Friendly and helpful staff; they even have beach towels and beach chairs. Very good breakfast. Situated in scenic wetlands. You don’t hear the planes! Perfect place to stay before flying out of LAX. Nothing!

• John (7/5): Great location, great staff, but needs a renovation. - I like the location and the friendliness of staff. While I do like staying here, I think this last visit will be my last. This place is in need of a renovation. I saw what seemed to be signs of a renovation a couple of months ago, but none of the rooms I have stayed in have been renovated. While this place can get away with being charming (and a great location), at some point they need to bite the bullet and renovate...especially the bathrooms. The layouts are terrible, doors hit each other, the exhaust fans are incredibly loud, there were signs of mold in the shower ceiling. I am usually out of the hotel before the breakfast, but I was able to see it this last trip...after seeing it I left and went to a local bakery instead. They also need to upgrade the security and access control...there is a reason that hotels left brass keys behind. These old residential grade locks and keys are not secure. I want this place to be good; so I hope they give it the investment it deserves.

• stacym617 (10/5): Simply Perfect - I travel all arounf the world. To say this is my favorote place seems like an understatement. Beautiful accomodations in a beautiful area down the street from the beach, view of Ballona wetlands and the friendliest hotel staff I have ever met. Home baked cookies in the afternoon, wine and cheese at 5 and easiiy the best breaskfast i have ever had in an hotel or inn - soufflés, pefectly cooked omelets, home made granola and baked goods.. This is the place I recommend for family, friends and colleagues. The worst thing I can say about this Inn is that I want to extend my stay whenever I stay there. And sometimes I do.

The location is great ... near the beach, bike/walking paths, restaurants, LAX, and beautiful nature-park in the back. The breakfast is totally lovely ... something for everyone, fresh, and beautifully presented. The coffee is really good and there's a nice collection of teas. There's a no-touch water bottle filler ... with hot and cold water. The wine & cheese hour is so nice with added delicacies to pair. I was struck by the attention to detail throughout the Inn. The staff are friendly and helpful. I look forward to another stay.

So convenient to LAX, and full of nice touches, like cookies, the wine hour, and all day coffee bar. I loved the newly renovated Marina facing rooms and the French doors to the marsh make this a very special place in LA!
• Excursion14079534620 (10/5): Best stay of our trip - Lovely property, staff where so helpful and polite, a great welcome that continued though out our stay. The room was a good size, very clean with a good size comfortable bed. Breakfast was fantastic with fresh fruit and bakery products as well as cheeses and sliced meat and scrambled eggs cooked to order. A lovely relaxing atmosphere to be able to relax and unwind. The property is also close to the beach and some places to eat.

• stephanie (10/5): - We love staying at Inn Playa Del Rey when visiting our daughter at college nearby- easy to get @ LA, parking is a breeze, staff are always friendly. We enjoy the afternoon happy hour and breakfast in the am- a cozy and homelike inn. Beautiful looking out over Balboa Reserve. Be sure to ask for a room facing out the reserve and not the busy road if you want to sleep well.

Really good location for exploring Santa Monica beach, Marina Del Ray & LA in general. Beautiful location, right on the edge of town.
• James (8/5): - Great location. Very nice interiors; however, the room phones were not working and when upgraded to another room the fire place was not working, which was part of the upgrade. Otherwise, nice breakfasts, wine & cheese in the evenings, very nice staff, and clean facility. I'd considering visiting again.
