- shorner123 (10/5): Gorgeous hotel in a convenient location - This hotel is simply beautiful. The rooms are huge and the bathrooms well-appointed. Our view was incredible. The buffet breakfast was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen — you could happily stay there for a week and not sample all of the delicious options. The only negatives for me were the check-in experience (too much to go into here) and the very hard mattress. Aside from that, this hotel is an absolute gem.

- xfest (4/5): Ageing hotel and it shows - This hotel was built in 1998 and has not been renovated since then. It really shows. The air conditioning is really loud and I think it is poorly maintained because the room smells like mold. Unfortunately, the night I checked in, the hotel was quite full and I wasn't able to switch rooms to one that did not have a dysfunctional air conditioner. I was only offered another room that basically had the same problems. Second, the Wi-Fi stopped working in my room. Because of meetings, I wasn't able to contact the hotel until quite late in the evening when I needed to get some documents sent out. I was told that there was no way to fix the internet because the IT department had already left for the day. This was so frustrating, as I'm sure anybody who has a high-intensity job would understand. Finally, I've stayed in older hotels before where management took incredible care to give guests a good experience through things like service or amenities. This hotel does not seem to care about either. For example, the hair dryer sucks. If you're a woman with longer hair, basically you will burn it off before it's dry. Even the bottled water provided in the room is literally the cheapest type of bottled water that you can possible find. Everything is plastic. I guess this Shangrila only cares about sustainability when it comes to reducing the number of times sheets are changed. I just don't understand how this can be a five-star hotel. It's really too bad because the location is fantastic and you're essentially right on the button. It is such a shame, as the lobbies and interiors were once beautiful. It's such a shame that the standards of this hotel have been allowed to fall so far.

Everything was very clean, very comfortable, very beautiful, and when you select to go Horizon Club you get a high view room, as well as use of exclusive club floors and spaces. - HenryT271 (10/5): Going to Shanghai? Stay here. - We stayed at this wonderful hotel on 8th & 9th April at the start of our recent tour of China. We loved this Shanghai hotel and had a wonderful stay. The view across the river to the Bund was terrific - we spent many happy moments simply watching the waterborne traffic, the working boats and pleasure cruisers, and the light show across the river. Our room was excellent and the service superb. It has every facility a modern hotel requires including several eating options catering for local and western tastes. It really is an excellent, well-run hotel: one of the best we have ever stayed in. I recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai.

Die Zimmer sind renovierungsbedürftig. In der Kategorie gibt es bessere Hotels, speziell Badezimmer und Toilette wie vor 40 Jahren. Das Frühstück war die grösste Enttäuschung. Nichts schmeckte wirklich frisch und liebevoll zubereitet. Absoluter Durchschnitt und schlecht im Vergleich, bspw. zum Shangri-la in Hong Kong. Wartezeit an der Rezeption teilweise sehr lang, wenig effizient.

Вкусные и разнообразные завтраки, ужины превосходные. Сам отель очень красивый, особенно холл и ресепция. Чисто, убирались каждый день. Неплохой тренажерный зал и бассейн. Хорошая доступность от многих мест, до чего-то можно дойти пешком, до чего-то нужно ехать, но обычно недолго Отель, наверное, давно не обновлялся. В номерах классический, но устаревший дизайн и уставшая мебель. С потертостями, где-то отваливались ручки на ящиках. Также персонал в целом говорит по-английски, но к сожалению, недопонимания были. Завтраки рано заканчивались, в 11, также рано заканчивался ужин в 22

- Holidaymad (10/5): Great hotel - highly recommend! - We had booked a Grand Tower Horizon Club Premier Bund view room but when we arrived we were given a free upgrade to a suite room, which had a fantastic view of the Bund and the Oriental Pearl. The hotel has old world charm and feels very luxurious - we have stayed at several Shangri La Hotels and this was definitely one of the best. The room was quiet so it felt like a very peaceful haven - good for relaxing in after two weeks travelling around China. We didn't use any of the restaurants or facilities, but we did have access to the Horizon Lounge on the 29th floor. The lounge was great - very good service from the staff with good options for breakfast. We also went for Afternoon tea and they also had a good selection of food and drinks in the evening from 5:30-7:30pm. Great location - close to a the malls if you want to go shopping, and only a 10 minute walk to the Metro station for sightseeing. If we return to Shanghai, I would definitely stay at the Shangri-La Pudong again.

Selection of food is probably one of the biggest that I have seen lately. A lot of different cuisines to cater for any taste The bathroom had some parts broken. Door handles different color on different sides of the door. Towel hangers broken and not fixed well
- Gaziz (9/5): Good view, great location and delicious breakfast. - Good atmosphere for resting with the great view of the Huangpu river and Bind. Little bit cold in the room. I wanted to make it warmer but I couldn’t change the temperature using conditioner.
