• DaisyDuck44 (8/5): Good bit not excellent - The Golden Tulip Bund New Asia is a good option if you value location. It is well situated, making it easy to reach the Bund and other key points of interest in the city. For visitors who plan to explore Shanghai on foot or by metro, the position of the hotel is quite convenient. The rooms, while clean and functional, are on the small side. They work well for short stays but may feel a bit tight if you have large luggage or are staying several days. One pleasant surprise is the excellent toilet with modern bidet features, which adds unexpected comfort. Breakfast, however, could be improved. The selection and overall quality do not fully meet expectations, especially compared with other hotels in the same category. The common areas of the hotel also feel dated and could benefit from renovation, except for the breakfast room, which is surprisingly charming and nicely designed.
• russellsR9099JY (6/5): Good and bad - Nice, comfortable rooms and beds which you'd expect at this price. I slept very well. Not as much space to put or hang my stuff though and not enough mirrors either. My main gripe would be the breakfast experience. It's pretty chaotic and badly organised. Not enough seating. We ended up sitting as a couple at a table for 8 that was too low. The manager wore a suit and fiddled with with signage whilst the queues for the coffee machine built up. The overworked, struggling staff looked resentfully towards him and I didn't blame them. As a result of this schism I didn't feel the staff were particularly happy or friendly. The staff at the Beijing hotel we stayed at were much more helpful and friendly.

• Changhong (10/5): - A very nice place to stay. Staffs are very friendly and helpful, the room is very clean and comfortable. The atmosphere of the hotel is amazing, very historic. Also, we love the surrounding area, very convenient for shopping and dining. Walkability is also very good, as the hotel is close to the bund and North bund. Would be very happy to recommend it to our friends.

• bj_rnars814 (2/5): You better be deaf to stay here - The hotel is ok but with a room i second floor facing the street you might as well sleep on the pavement - heavy traffic 24/7 makes it very hard to sleep. This is by far the worst hotel we have stayed in in China. No help to get from the staff so there is no chance of comming back here.
• fr_d_ricl638 (10/5): A very comfortable and quiet hotel ideally located for exploring the city day and night. - A very comfortable hotel ideally located just steps from the Bound, the historic center, and the shopping streets. Friendly and welcoming staff. Quiet and pleasant rooms. A very varied and high-quality breakfast. Ideal for exploring the city on foot or by metro. A lively neighborhood of good quality. We spent 5 pleasant nights. I strongly recommend this place.

• liasusanto (8/5): Good location - Nice location, walking distance to the Bund, 1 metro station away from Nanjing street. Room was good, sound proof room, complete bathroom amenities, breakfast was good. The most disturbing issue for me was they don't have air conditioner at the bedroom on the winter season, just the heater. I ask the front office and they said the AC is turned off and the offered me electric fan when I complained the room was too hot for me. We don't have good enough sleep because of this unfortunately, we tried to open the window but it was too noisy because the room was facing the street.
• jaysantosph (8/5): Same breakfast choices for a week - At least the room was huge! Kept clean and smells fresh. It is a decent size even for a standard room. The shower area can cause leakage though in the floor. My main concern is the lack of variety and change in the food choices in the breakfast area. Better stick to your best choice or otherwise get bored about the food for the whole week.

Rooms are huge and clean. I enjoyed my stay in the room but the wifi connection in the room is very bad.
• 181allap (8/5): Good - Quite nice, conveniently located. Rooms are a bit worn out, but everything functions and is clean. Good breakfast with both European and Chinese dishes. Ask for a room with the view, it’s worth it. You can see the bund all lighted up in the evenings.

• Varsha (6/5): - The room Is very small And a bit dated. The tiles in bathroom Were cracked. The AC was not working well and after plugging on our iPhone charger there was an explosion and the electricity went off. It is in a nice walkable area.

Got a new guy to airdrop it to his phone and printed it out for 2 rmb Won’t be staying here again Staff need retraining especially breakfast guys and the senior front desk guys. Door guy and cleaning room lady were great.

May have to consider larger room/suite if you are staying with 2 persons. They have all the amenities in the room that a standard 4-star hotel must have. • StanUP (8/5): Comfortable stay - Located near to 2 mrt line, easily take us to most part of shanghai. 2 convenient stores & 1 mini mart nearby. No restaurants but got couple of cafes. Hotel restaurant foods do not taste good, we ordered fried rice and one soup with rice to take back to our room, both tasted bland. Room is comfortable, good for 2 to stay. Pillows are too soft though. Love the Japanese style bidet toilet, it is a big bonus. Walking to bund is slightly more than 1km. Definitely worth the walk. Price is very reasonable during our new year period.
• EBISU (8/5): - 立地は非常に便利で、地下鉄、天潼路駅の３番出口を出ると右手に見えています。歩くこと３分左手に正面玄関口があります。観光にも便利でBundにも歩いていけます。近くにコンビニが2件ありました。 サービスはレセプションで英語が通じる人が少ないことはやや不便ですが、スタッフは親切です。部屋はリフォームしてきれいですし、十分な広さもあります。またウォシュレットがあったのが良かったんです。ただトイレの扉が開けにくかったです。 近隣にレストランは少ないですが電車で一駅の南亰東路までいけばたくさんあります。歩いても15分程度です。 また上海に行く機会があれば利用したいと思っています。
• siobhanf865 (6/5): Nice room but poor service - The hotel is nicely decorated but we were immediately put off by the unfriendly service upon check in. The staff took forever with our passports and when I asked the English speaking concierge for xiao long bao recommendations she couldn’t give us any! That was a surprise considering it’s a Shanghai delicacy. She also smelt like BO and had dandruff on her uniform with dirty sneakers. The room itself is nice and we enjoyed views of the Pearl Tower from our room om the 7th floor. Initially our TV didn’t work but we contacted the front desk whi fixed it while we were out for the evening.
• MadHatterMom (8/5): Overall Great Experience - My family of five recently stayed at the Golden Tulip in order to be close to The Bund for New Year's. In fact, we were originally going to stay at the Radisson Blu but changed our ressie after reading the positive reviews on TA. We had one Deluxe Room and one Family Room. Both were pretty large and had good configurations - the Deluxe being a little more, well, Deluxe (but only room for two people). The family room had a small kitchen and dining table, which was perfect to have take-out meals or snacks. The odd thing about the Family Room was that it had a separate toilet at the front of the room by the door and then the shower and sink in another room. This was convenient for multiple people getting ready at the same time, but we kept going in the bathroom before remembering that there was no toilet in there. Oddly, the shower had the dreaded glass wall into the bedroom, which seemed like a very odd choice considering that this was supposed to be a family room. Even though you could push a button and the glass became opaque, you could still pretty much see through it. I really hate those glass walls since it's awkward for most families. The location could not be better. We had a great view of The Bund from our room and it was a very short walk to get there. We ate dinner at the restaurant one night thought it was really good. Service and food were great, so I'd recommend it. Especially since there are very few choices in the immediate neighborhood except convenience stores. In the lobby, there was a ping pong table and a basketball hoop-type game, which was fun. The hotel is not lavish or overly luxurious, but was stylish and clean. The front desk staff were a little curt upon check-in but proved to be quite accommodating and nice during the course of our stay. Last, we never heard a peep from the other rooms. It may be one of the quietest sleeping environments I've ever been in. It was awesome. In conclusion, I would highly recommend this hotel for its location, perfectly acceptable rooms, peaceful and laid-back feel and overall value. Would stay again when in Shanghai.

Location wise this place is convenient as you can get in terms of transportation , but kind of lacks in terms of good food nearby. • tokis62 (8/5): Great location - It is a wonderful hotel in a nice location, just 1 min walk to metro station, 5 min to Bund, 7 min to East Nanjing road,... The staff are really kind and helpful (although they cannot understand English well, they try their best to help you). We had a chance to get a free upgrade to a deluxe king room free of charge. The room was extremely clean with a modern bathroom and city overview was great from the 7th floor.
• SharonQQ (8/5): Great location. No toiletries in room - Good location closed to the Bund. close to bus and train station. Front desk was efficient and also kept my courier packages for me. When I booked this hotel I was informed of the environmental aspects of the hotel not providing toothbrush/toothpaste/ comb. But I didn't realise that included shower gel/shampoo/conditioner. The hotel provided one bar of soap, but had travel size sets of shower gel/shampoo for sale. so advice to bring your own shampoo and shower gel unless you want to pay exorbitant prices for minis. Otherwise comfortable room.
• Maxim (2/5): Don't use it. Not worth it - They are claiming that hotel is 4stars but it's not. A lot of issues here. For example, thermostat is not working. The temperature Durning the day was above 30C. At morning with all night open windows 27.5C. when I told manager about temperature he told me that temperature set to what is required by Shanghai government and cannot be changed. Looks like Shanghai government start regulating what temperature I should use in my room. Complete bools..t. Most of hotels provided 2 free bottle of water. This hotel has smallest bottles I have seen. The carpet in passage dirty and has stains. No pool or gym.l

• PCSim (10/5): Exceeded my Expectations - Stayed for 4 nights in the hotel. Was given a free upgrade. Room was extremely spacious and clean. Design was modern and chic, tastefully done. Only thing is it was located on second floor. Without the blinds down in the toilet, I can see the roads in full view. The bed was extremely comfortable. Conveniently located. There are convenience stalls within walking distance around it. Train station is about 5mins’ walk. There are some Malls around, including wholesale now. I attempted walking back from the bund, it was a nice walk and very peaceful in the night. In terms of service, I felt could be enhanced. Breakfast was ok, though I liked the dining area. Overall, I had enjoyed my stay. Will stay again if I next come here.

• Deevyaah (6/5): Modern, chic hotel- low on service, rude staff - A quick 5-7 minute walk to central bund area in Shanghai, this hotel was definitely worth the money. Large rooms, designed with french chic flair... walk-in closet, separate seating area in each room. There were some coffee shops, a spa and some convenient stores within a two minute walk from the hotel making it rather convenient. Couple of negatives- long check-in experience, with staff that was at best cordial. One bug Resteraunt that shut at 9pm with no facility for room service through out the day. While we had heard that China is not so high on service and hospitality, this was the only hotel where we actually experienced it. The most infuriating and humiliating part of the experience was when the staff accused us of ‘taking’ ONE stupid mini towel from one of our five rooms. We later realised that their house keeping staff clearly didn’t do a good job of checking the rooms. Without intimating us, they escalated the issue and emailed our booking agent back in India. This was day 2 of our 3 day stay. When I tried to inquire at the front desk about what the fuss was all about, they said they had re-checked the rooms and nothing was missing. What an unnecessarily dramatic reaction, and to top that it was appalling not a single apology was meted out to us for this behaviour. All in all, a strictly okay experience. Given the location, I think there are better options around.

• Karen A. (10/5): Highly recommended for first-time trip to Shanghai - I had a terrific day at this hotel for my first time in the city of Shanghai. The family room was spacious and comfortable, and was well equipped with most of the comforts of home. The housekeeping staff was very courteous and prompt in delivering what was needed for a comfortable stay. While the front desk staff could use a few lessons in customer service, they were efficient during check-in and checkout. This hotel is very nice for a mid-range hotel for the price I paid.
• MAKOTO (8/5): また泊まりたいですね。 - 交通アクセスがいい。南京東路駅（南京歩行街)から1駅です。周辺には美味しような店は少ないが、南京歩行街で美味しい店見つけることできます。（アップルが入っている建物内に「耶里夏丽」，少し歩きますが「上海姥姥」などがオススメです) 改装してから数年なのでホテル内もきれい。シャワー室のみ。外灘までも徒歩圏内。近くに家乐福、ファミリーマートあり。服飾問屋街「七浦路」も徒歩2-3分です。

• FX (10/5): - Great location. Walking distance to the Bund. Front desk people are very nice and helpful. Definitely will stay here again if in Shanghai.
• Patrick (4/5): Not for westerners - Hospitality Needs to be improved. Hardly any english speaking staff with experience in Service. Wrong Installation of the shower, means bathroom flooded. No reaction after reclaim. Poor western breakfast serving and dinner menu. ( Menu contains western Cuisine, but the cook can not cook it )

• Dongchae (10/5): 추천합니다.!!! - 멋모르고 떠난 상해 여행입니다. 호텔숙박에 대해서는 정말 좋았습니다. 호텔정문에서 나와 오른쪽으로 2~3분만 걸으면 한국의 동대문의류시장같은 빌딩이 있고 거기 지하가 바로 지하철이라서 관광지로 이동하기도 편리합니다. 호텔바로앞에는 오래된 중국 우체국이 있는데 헤리티지에서 관리하는 건물 같습니다. 5~7분정도 걸으면 100년이 된 철교가 있고 그 철교를 걸어서 넘으면 상해 금융가가 시작됩니다. 동방명주, 상해타워등의 야경을 볼수 있는 곳이며 월스티리트와 똑 같은 황소도 있습니다. 유람선 타는 곳까지 걸어서 갈수 있습니다. 경치 및 풍경 좋고 사람들도 많습니다. 음식점도 가까운데 많이 있습니다. 한국의 인사동과 같은곳이라는 티엔쯔앙도 택시로 20분정도면 갈수 있습니다. 호텔직원들은 말 할것 없이 친절합니다. 체크아웃 한 이후 아침식사하고 다시 와서 상해임시정부청사 택시좀 잡아달라고 하니 아주 친철하게 콜 택시 불러주시더라구요. 호텔 시설도 깔끔합니다. 호텔 조식은 하지 않아서 잘 모르겠습니다. 저처럼 처음으로 개별여행 하시는 분들에게 도움이 되었으면 합니다.

• Ron (10/5): Tulips form Shanghai - We had a really good experience at the Tulip The staff were helpful. Polite. Nothing was too much. The chef was really great always smiling ready to cook your choice of food. Really fresh. Bed was very comfortable possibly one of the best l have ever slept on.

• ben (10/5): Good location in The Bund - Breakfast is 108 RMB, the food has very good taste, we like the American size W/D , it cost 50 RMB per load of wash and dry, ambiance is nice.
• Verified traveler (4/5): - There is construction going on near this hotel and it lasted till midnight, lots of other noises basically can't sleep. Ask the staff when the construction will end and they said they have no control and not even feel sorry for the guess. Very rude!
• DJONI (8/5): - The building looked old, but the interior was impressive. The room was newly furnished, but small and the air inside was slightly dusty. The location is near metro station and a local food court.
• Greg (10/5): - We stayed in a room with a king size bed. The room was spacious and really on the luxurious side. It was nice and quiet as well. Plenty of toiletries provided, coffee making machine which was a real bonus and the room was always well maintained. The gym is fantastic for a hotel. Large, plenty of free weights and machines. The local area is good with a 15-20 minute walk to The Bund and to Nanjing Rd Walking Street. Short walk to Tiantong Rd subway. Great stay.

• Gregory (8/5): - Wonderful, clean, beautiful room. You can open the windows. Friendly (English speaking) staff. Tea kettle was broken but quickly replaced. Thermostat was buggy but wasn't really necessary in the end. The appointments in the room, clean, classy, comfortable bed, roomy, etc. There was construction on the sidewalk in front of their building (not their fault) and not really disruptive. It felt special.
• Grace (6/5): - A female Receptionist who served us was not friendly! Room air conditioning is too warm! Room is clean & comfy.
• Kim Sai (10/5): - The stay was good and staff was eager to make sure guests are well-taken care. The only downside is the wifi connection. The instruction is different from the actual set-up and you need a local mobile number in order to receive the codes. Not able to accommodate international guests' need to connect easily.
• kk (10/5): - Location is excellent ,5 mins to subway station with a whole sale under ground market and food court. We stayed in nov, room is hot , not sure there is AC available. Was told by the staff to open the window but window has no screen and noisy from the Main Street traffic
