- Lucy Parker (10/5): Stunning views & Spa, exceptional service, and the perfect central Tokyo luxury stay. - Absolutely beautiful hotel in the heart of the city within 15 mins walk to Imperial Palace. Minutes away from the mall Coredo Muromachi with a huge selection of some of the best sushi I have ever tasted in Japan. Get the hotel concierge to book you in or go book in advance. Hotel Rooms - the views are absolutely stunning and I sat on my chaise longue for hours working with that view to inspire me! The Italian restaurant were really helpful with my non dairy diet and did me a fabulous meal. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough for me. Honestly their service was some of the best I have ever experienced. Spa - really lovely to have those morning hours to chill here with those views..worth doing. Check in - no-one told me at check in about the free spa opening hours from 0630-0900 until I had been down to the Spa myself and they kindly informed me there. please ensure you do mention this to guests on check in.

The room itself was a perfect combination of luxury and functionality. The laundry service was great with a very clever return system. Breakfast was also excellent. The MO is in a great location, literally beside the subway. It’s 15 minutes to everywhere. It will definitely be our choice of stay when we return to this remarkable city.

- 939aloud (10/5): Stay here for the skyline views - The skyline view from the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo was amazing. I cannot wait to come back just to see it again. The lobby is on the 38th floor with panoramic views that you also experience from your room, the restaurants, and the pool (you must visit the pool to experience it). The location was excellent as was the service and housekeeping. The breakfast buffet was very, very good. And this is coming from someone that doesn’t like breakfast or buffets. I highly recommend staying here.

Everyone we encountered was extremely kind and went out of their way to help us feel welcome. Early check in and late check out. Panoramic views from our room and from the restaurants. Food and drinks were top notch all around- breakfast, lunch and dinner. The spa area was great and very relaxing. One of the best hotel experiences we have had. Though we spent a lot of money, we felt we got good value for our money and we will do it again if and when are in Tokyo next. It isn’t in the most exciting area of Tokyo, but it’s not a bad location either.

- LuckySevenN (10/5): Tokyo hotel recommendation - Japan is one of my favorite travel destinations, and I visited Tokyo two weeks ago for a holiday. This stay at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo was a wonderful experience. One of the highlights of the hotel is its excellent location. While the property feels calm and uncrowded, everything is conveniently within reach. Mitsukoshi is just a short walk away for luxury shopping, and there is a food mall directly opposite the hotel offering a wide variety of dining options. Within the hotel itself, there are several Michelin‑starred restaurants, as well as the renowned Pizza Bar on the 38th floor. Unfortunately, I was unable to secure a seat at the Pizza Bar during this visit, which only gives me a reason to return. My room had a beautiful view of Tokyo Skytree, and I was especially lucky to catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji while passing through the lobby — a memorable and unexpected moment. Service throughout the stay was very good: professional, warm, and attentive. Overall, it was a highly enjoyable experience, and I am already planning to return again in December.

- James (10/5): Fabulous stay in Tokyo. - The location on the higher floors of the building ensures great views. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the property is spotlessly clean. The concierge desk were super helpful with recommendations and information.

Really great servers in the restaurant and THEY ACCEPTED GRATUITIES with a truly gracious and polite attitude. Many hotels have staff that insult the client by refusing gratuities. The world has changed and some of the best hotels in Tokyo are allowing their staff to receive gratuities. I do not believe in all the nonsense on the Internet regarding gratuities being unnecessary in Japan. Door staff downstairs are very professional and stayed outside with the guests even though it was really cold. All in all, it was a great stay. One staff member from either Reception or the Concierge was really arrogant and not cooperative. I believe it is due to the lack of experience. She has personal judgements and did not see the client's viewpoint.
- RichardE233 (6/5): A former show stopper in need of a remodel and a staff that needs better training. - It seems strange to give a Mandarin Oriental a 3 star review. Especially as a returning guest. I was there pre covid and it seems its lost its luster. Arrival to the hotel was fine and the lobby is on the 38th floor. The personnel was fine but made no mention of my return or emails I sent in. I am a Centurion card holder as well and they did not acknowledge it or offer a upgrade which was strange with every room category still available with a last minute reservation. After quite a day of travel I was looking forward to the pizza counter that seems to still be going strong. Unfortunately there was no availability for the rest of the night and the woman at the front desk was curt and quick to say they don’t serve pizza in the incorporated dining area only at the counter. I was put off and left. I went up to the room and it was the same as I remembered but in need of a update as a “crown jewel” in the Mandarin collection should be in pristine updated condition. It’s very nice but not up to today’s standards. After exploring Tokyo at night I returned to the hotel bar and wanted a bite to eat. I waited 10 minutes before the barman acknowledged I was there. I had a menu in front of me and he ignored me for 15 minutes. I got the bill and left. I had breakfast at the buffet in the morning and that was great. Plenty of fresh fruits and baked goods and a menu of quality breakfast. My flight was delayed and found myself with a few hours to kill so I went to the concierge desk to see if he had a suggestion that was in the area /walking distance. He directed me to the palace that was in the park/gardens about 20 min away. Upon arrival it was closed as it always is on Mondays and Fridays so I was upset to have wasted an hour. He was not there when I returned to let him know but ….. oh well. Overall nothing stood out at this former show stopper and I would not return when in Tokyo. I interacted with 5-6 hotel personnel and the only person who was friendly was a young girl in the valet who helped with directions and took my picture.
- Joseph (1/5): Never bother with this place , there is a lot better and even cheaper hotels - Nothing at all,doesn’t worth the money , big propaganda for no reason I was doing same day reservation, and was mentioned that it’s a free cancellation but once you reserve, you can’t cancel for free and the hotel insists on charging me even if I don’t want to stay at third property. It’s not suitable for a 5 star hotel like that

Each time, I was greeted with such warm and genuine hospitality from the staff, which truly made me feel welcomed and at home. The rooms are always clean, comfortable, and well maintained, providing a relaxing space after a long day. Overall, it’s a hotel I trust and truly enjoy returning to, and I would happily recommend it to others.

View was nice of the city, service was good but overall felt savory items and dessert items both could have been improved with the price that was charged. Great location to subway Mitsukoshimae station is only 2 minutes (Ginza Lane); amazing view as photo attached; exceptional service as always from the 1st floor till the reception, from the arrival until departure. You will be captivated by the FAN.
- JM2007SJ (10/5): Fantastic Location, Outstanding Views & Service - We stayed at the Mandarin on our first trip to Tokyo. We did a ton of research in advance, and based on all my reading, determined this location would be ideal for exploring all the sites we wanted to visit. The hotel is comprised of top floors (32-38 I think) of a high rise office building, which means the subway station is under the building. With the amount of walking you do in the city, having the subway this accessible is outstanding. Next, the room and views were better than we expected. Our room was on the side of the hotel that faced Mt Fuji - and wow - we couldn’t have had a better views. The bathroom was large, with a tub, separate shower and decent sized vanity area. We used the tub most nights to soak our achy feet after all the walking we did! The room was extremely quiet, the bed was very comfortable and we loved the robes they provided for you to use while there. We really appreciated the onsite restaurants and bar. We ate breakfast at the hotel every morning and it was fantastic with a ton of variety and options that would please anyone or any dietary need. We also dined at the Chinese restaurant and the Italian restaurant - both were excellent. After a long day exploring, we also enjoyed a drink at the bar a few times. The service was phenomenal, the staff was very helpful no matter what question we had. I highly recommend this hotel for your trip to Japan! This hotel felt like a retreat from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo after long days of exploring.

- sonalis0 (10/5): Mandarin Tokyo and Hong Kong are incredible and we are now excited about trying their hotels in other cities. - We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Mandarin in Tokyo and in Hong Kong. Even though the hotels are large, the service is personal and warm. You want to spend more time at the hotel, because you feel welcomed and appreciated. The contrast between the other hotels and the Mandarin was so stark that we want to stay only at the Mandarin from now on. Mr Besjon Vokshi in Hong Kong Mandarin and Ms Karen Hung in Tokyo were incredibly kind and hospitable. We felt Karen was a longstanding friend by the time we ended our stay at Mandarin Tokyo. We were six of us from London and we cannot wait to return. Thank you so much.

Breakfast was so crowded you had to stay in line to get a table. Lots of Americans eating breakfast in T shirts, shorts and slippers took away a bit of the atmosphere. Restaurant recommendations by the hotel were so-so and the service was correct but not very warm. This is definitely a nice hotel but its sister hotel in Bangkok is much nicer and in Tokyo we easily preferred the Peninsula.

The property is a little dated but still extremely well maintained. The service is excellent , from housekeeping to breakfast and the concierge. Special mention to Karen at guest services for being extremely helpful on our final day, felt totally at home and no request was too much. Highly recommended!

- abdulmohsen8 (4/5): Beautiful property, but service breakdown and unacceptable check-out handling - I stayed at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo for the final part of my Japan trip. The hotel is undeniably beautiful and the overall presentation is what you expect from a luxury brand. However, the service experience was surprisingly inconsistent and, at times, unacceptable for this level and price point. The main issue throughout the stay was poor internal coordination. Different staff members provided conflicting information and seemed unaware of what others had already confirmed. Simple requests required repeated follow-ups and unnecessary back-and-forth. While the team eventually delivered what I requested (and I appreciate the effort), it took far more time and energy than it should have in a top-tier hotel. Another clear example of this lack of coordination was my airport taxi arrangement. I was quoted one price in advance, but when it was time to leave—after my luggage had already been loaded and I was seated in the taxi—I asked for confirmation and was told a completely different amount, with a significant difference. It created an uncomfortable situation at the worst possible moment. During my stay, it also felt like the hotel’s priority was clearly an official delegation rather than regular paying guests. The common areas were crowded with delegation-related activity, which created a tense atmosphere and made the hotel feel less comfortable and less relaxing than expected. The most disappointing moment was check-out. We were directed to exit through the back entrance due to the delegation, and the team attempted to move us to another taxi even though our luggage was already in the original taxi arranged by the hotel. This caused an unnecessary delay while heading to a flight. Even if the delay was short, it is still a delay—and it felt disrespectful and poorly managed. Overall, the property itself is impressive, but the service consistency and guest handling—especially during VIP/official events—needs serious improvement. Based on this experience, I would not choose this hotel again.

Before arriving at the hotel, I read several guest reviews, and I must say that they did not reflect at all what we personally experienced. Everything we encountered was excellent. The room was very nice, spacious, modern, and impeccably clean. The service throughout our stay was outstanding, and honestly, we could not find a single thing to complain about. The concierge team was extremely helpful, especially Mr. Ahil Tiwari, who assisted us at all times with great professionalism, knowledge, and experience. His support truly enhanced our stay. We dined several times at the Italian restaurant, where Chef Fulvio Ventura went above and beyond to fulfill our wishes. The food was excellent, and the service was truly amazing. Last but not least, we would like to thank Mrs. Yumi Fujii, the manager of the breakfast and Italian dining, and her wonderful team. They did their very best to provide us with outstanding meals and breakfasts. The breakfast atmosphere was fantastic, with a very wide and impressive variety. All in all, this is a very high-level hotel. As someone who travels frequently around the world, I can confidently say that the standard here is excellent. To the entire team — you have done a great job.

- davidandemily20 (10/5): Second stay, better experience - We had a really enjoyable second stay at the MO Tokyo. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Sake on arrival was a nice touch we did not get when we stayed previously. The room was lovely with a fantastic view of the Skytree. Last time we felt the hotel was too busy, especially with people coming from outside the hotel for afternoon tea or drinks. However this time it seemed much calmer & there was plenty of space to sit and enjoy a drink. We only stayed 1 night but really enjoyed our last night in Tokyo staying here.

- MichelleJ491 (10/5): The Perfect Torii through which to enter Japan - This was my third visit to the MO Tokyo, and there was no drop off in my experience at all. The arrival was perfectly executed. The festive afternoon tea was perfect, the setting highly memorable, and I concluded the first day with a highly skilled dry massage Spa Treatment in the clouds. The room was maintained to the usual standard, though the new echo-friendly toothpaste sachets are fiendishly difficult to open and create a lot of mess. One has no control over the paste emerging from the sachet. I very much appreciated staying Fuji side and enjoying the sunset, thank you. I also appreciated the Fan recognition throughout my stay, which gives one a sense of home. I look forward to my fourth visit. Inshallah, as we say in Abu Dhabi!

- glenneF1927OC (10/5): Glorious luxury oasis in the heart of Tokyo - Our first entrance into the hotel lobby on the 38th floor was breathtaking - what a view of Tokyo right at the check-in desk. Everything in this hotel is gorgeous and well designed, but the real stand-out was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. We were staying on the last night of a Japan trip to celebrate our anniversary, and the entire hotel staff, starting with the wonderful Karen Hung, made it a celebration to remember. So many special touches that went way beyond the beautiful hotel itself. We also had a splurge last night dinner at the hotel's Sushi Shin on the 38th floor - and we were so glad we did - that merits its own review - it was superb.
- abmilw (8/5): Very nice hotel, great views, - Black out curtains good, a/c worked well, mattress was good , TV stations ok, shower water pressure decent, front desk good, Breakfast decent, but opens at 7am. If you want their highly rated pizza place book well in advance, as dine in only and limited seats. We had a few rooms for our family, one was booked for a nicer room, wasn't worth the additional fee, not much bigger nor nicer. Hotel was expensive, Location good, but felt a tad away from where we spent out tourist time. Lobby has great views.

- AviationNZ (10/5): Amazing five star hotel in Tokyo - Our stay here was simply amazing. The hotel is in a great location not far from Tokyo Central Station and the views over Tokyo are absolutely breathtaking…on clear days you can see across to Mount Fuji in the distance. We stayed in a Deluxe Premier Room King room which was spacious and luxurious, and had views of Tokyo Skytree. The service was excellent at every interaction, and the breakfast was great too, one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had globally.
