• priyadarshan_salkar (2/5): Disappointing Hotel Experience: Booked Hotel Closed Without Notice - We had booked a hotel through Agoda approximately 4 months prior to our trip to Singapore, scheduled from January 30 to February 2 year 2026. The payment was deducted on January 28, and we were all set for our trip. However, upon arrival with our elderly parents (senior citizens, 70+), we were shocked to find the hotel closed and under renovation. The staff on site refused to provide the owner's contact information. We tried checking into nearby hotels, but they were fully booked at the time. Upon further investigation, we found that the hotel staff had informed the booking sites about the renovation, but it wasn't updated on Agoda's end. We contacted Agoda, and they promptly provided a refund. Unfortunately, the overall experience was quite disappointing and stressful, especially considering our elderly parents' situation.
• MJB007007 (2/5): Terrible little dump - The worst place I’ve ever stayed. Rude dishonest staff, filthy rooms with dangerous wiring. Horrible food. Not a nice area of Singapore. Grubby people with horrible men leering at my daughter. Stay away from the area and this hotel. The staff are lazy and do not man the doors at night so we got locked out. Very grubby little place. Out dirty room had no window. Nothing worked
• Gloria Timpug (6/5): - Front desk staff are friendly. The breakfast food is not good and has limited choices. The older woman in charge in the dining looks grumpy and not friendly. Our room is ok. The property is old and the outside sorrounding is not pleasant but it is convenient to MRT and walking distance to Bugis Street Market. Also the elevator is the older version, we used the stairs most of the time even we are on the 3rd floor, i don’t feel comfortable using the elevator (lift).
• Oldbutsane (8/5): Good, Budget-friendly and Well Located in Little India - This hotel is good value for Singapore, at about $S100pn. Yes, it is not a 4 or 5 star hotel, but my room was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked and the staff were friendly. Amenities are basic but adequate - only body wash/shampoo provided and whilst there is a fridge and jug to boil water there was no coffee, tea, milk or sugar provided (didn’t bother me as I always BYO tea bags and toiletries). Room had a TV, decent wardrobe and safe. It was pretty much like the photos, although my room only had two small (maybe 30cm x 30cm) windows (which didn’t open, but I knew they would not). Room was pretty quiet, only heard voices when neighbours came home and were in the corridor (not from their rooms). Bathroom was adequate with instantaneous hot water system (easily worked, just press clearly labelled button on wall). Yes, bathroom is a bit old and had some obvious repairs, but it was clean (some mould on grout, but, and speaking from experience, it is almost impossible to not have a problem in hot and humid climates). Breakfast was very basic with cereal (cornflakes or coco pops), toast, noodles, chicken nuggets (replacing them with eggs would significantly improve the breakfast) and a piece of fruit. The area around the hotel is typical old Singapore and one of the few inner city areas that has not been modernised so that it looks like any other. Yes, the area might look a bit grungy, but is typical of these older areas and I’ve never felt unsafe here (as an older solo female) and the restaurants serve some of the best Indian food you will come across for the price (typically under $S15, and often under $S10 for a lovely meal). There are also some lovely temples etc to see nearby. Hotel is also close to the Metro and buses downtown (very useful when wet, otherwise quite walkable). Would definitely stay here again if I wanted something in this price range again and would probably get a larger room on an upper floor if travelling with someone else (whilst you could manage in a standard room, there would not be a lot of space for two suitcases).
• MJB007007 (2/5): Terrible dirty dump - Avoid this filthy dump. We arrived and this horribly rude lady in a headscarf on reception barely looked up and then just stared at us without smiling. The other guy gave us a key to our hot dingy grubby room. The bathroom was dirty, it was windowless and the aircon was barely working. It got very hot. They instructed us to put the key at reception as they have 24 hour reception, but one night I couldn't sleep because of the heat so went down stairs at 3.30am where the guy on reception was fast asleep on a couch and the phone was ringing. I picked it up and some poor girl was locked out of the hotel as the door buzzer did not wake up this lazy receptionist. This was actually quite dangerous for a loan female. I had to shake him awake. The place is filthy and unfriendly. Nothing like the pictures and the breakfast was some kind of flavoured processed mash and chicken nuggets. No effort at all. Don't stay here. There are a few interested things to see in the area although it is really grubby compared to the rest of Singapore, but is like me you have daughters, be prepared for lots of the local men to stare at them in a menacing unhealthy way. No hot tap means shaving is hard.

• Sunshine52920359766 (10/5): - We recently stayed at Perak Hotel, Singapore, as a family (my wife, 10-year-old child, and I) for five nights in June 2025. We booked a family room for the first two nights and a triple room for the next three nights. Honestly, I was a bit concerned before the stay after reading some recent negative reviews, but I am happy to share that our overall experience was excellent. What We Liked: * Contrary to the negative reviews, we found the staff to be very friendly, courteous, and helpful. They provided useful guidance throughout our stay. * Breakfast was simple but fresh and satisfying—more than enough to start the day well. * The family room was very spacious and comfortable. I would recommend avoiding the triple room if you have knee or mobility issues since the mattresses are placed on a raised platform accessed by a few steps. Triple room is also a bit small for luggage if you have a 2-3 bags. * Rooms were cleaned daily and had a cupboard, safe, small refrigerator, and a water heating pot for hot water. * The hotel’s location is a big plus—right opposite the MRT station and within walking distance of several eateries. As vegetarians, we had no trouble finding good food nearby. * Mustafa Centre is a quick 8–10 minute walk, and Bugis Street is about 15 minutes away. * Washrooms are compact, but that is quite standard in Singapore budget hotels. Suggestions for Fellow Travellers: * The hotel does not provide complimentary dental kits, soap bars (only liquid soap is provided), bottled water, or in-room tea/coffee sachets. However, there is a 7-Eleven store within a 2-minute walk where you can easily purchase these essentials.
• Joachim (4/5): - I had a roof over my head and the location was convenient. That’s all it gets for me. The bed was hard, hardly any window, super dark room! The shower was small and the water in the sink kept dripping. The flush was barely working and the AC loud. For what I paid it was hardy worth it.

• Namasteandgreetings (8/5): Not bad - I pre-booked and pre-paid for this budget hotel on Perak Road in the Little India area of Singapore via agoda.com a few months ago. The quality of my room for what i paid for was much better than what i originally expected. The bed was good and the air-conditioning worked well. My room was also somewhat bigger and more spacious than what i originally expected. For a solo budget traveller like myself on an ongoing 3-month trip in this region, i am actually completely satisfied. The staff members like Shan and Anifah were friendly, polite, helpful and respectful. Everyone got a quite simple but more than adequate complimentary breakfast as well. Recommended (for me anyway)

• Gerry (8/5): - Our family stayed here for one night. The hotel is lovely and very clean. We enjoyed the comfortable beds and air-conditioning. The WIFI was relatively strong as well. The staff is extremely friendly and assisted us with all of our questions and needs! The breakfast was also delicious, but a little crowded and served late. We also did struggle a little bit with our phone chargers, because we did not own a universal adaptor. We believe we should have been informed about that beforehand. Overall, our stay was quite enjoyable, even though it was only for one night.

The floor was grimy, sheets were stained, pillows stank of body odour and there was no handsoap in the bathroom. Breakfast was very poor with few options and it felt rather unclean. • Ducktalk (6/5): Great location, that is all - Greeted by a happy gent when we booked in, but that was it for happiness until he was back on duty again a few days later. Staff are not big on smiles or warmth. Bearing in mind that Singapore is highly over-priced, what you get is not much for the price. Room is very small, found it claustrophobic with 2 of us in there. Sound reduction between floors isn't happening so morons who stayed in the room above kept us awake all night by walking around and banging furniture and luggage. Tiny bathroom, took us a while to figure out how the hot water worked although smiley chap on reception did show us how the venetian blinds opened (!), didn't think to show the hot water. I would've appreciated the sheets fitting the bed too. That was weird. Breakfast, yes well, not much variety I'm afraid. It's pleasant but nothing special. Location is brilliant. We love Little India although there's times when it feels a tad dodgy. Great restaurants nearby and train station up the road.

• marianeez (2/5): Rude & Arrogant Staff - Check-in was wonderful by the local Singaporean owner (I think), but the following days weren't so good. Foreign staff during breakfast weren't friendly & not helpful at all. No tea or coffee was offered, as guests were supposed to request it (I only knew this on my 3rd day; I only requested hot water & made my own tea). The Muslim Pakistani lady at the counter was very rude and arrogant; she even yelled at me for taking my time to take my luggage. She even scolds us for requesting to leave our luggage as our flight was at 7pm, even though I thought we were doing them a favour by checking out early so they could clean the room for their next guests. The staff are mostly foreigners, who for us are quite racist because they mostly are pleasant to Caucasian guests; for us brown & yellow people, they hardly smile and act like we're some kind of nuisance for them. Hotel should train or maybe change all their foreign staff.

• OnAir21300091390 (2/5): Hotel I Do Not Want To Check In Ever Again - Perak Hotel is in quite good location. Their airconditioner is cold. But all the other things about the hotel is bad.The place is dirty and old. We would have stayed in the hotel even if it is old, if only the place is clean but it is not. The towels are not white but dirty white. The hotel also does not have a water dispenser or a drinking station. We were told to drink from tap water because it is clean, but we did not try to drink from it because we were not sure if it really is clean and given that the hotel is quite dirty; you cannot really be sure that the tap water is drinkable. Our room is dusty too like it has not been cleaned. The provided drinking glasses also has dust. The room also smell quite bad. Even the pillows has some kind of bad odor to them. We also felt itchy lying down or even just sitting on the bed. When riding the hotel's elevator you have to continously press the floor button in order for the elevator to move. The elevator also can accomodate only 3 guests at a time. When we told them that we want to move to another hotel because we were not satisfied with theirs they would not give us a refund. We even told them that they do not have to refund us fully. That they can just give us half of our payment even if we did not stay with them but they refused. When we left the hotel none of the staffs even asked us why we were leaving early and just let us leave. Overall I can say that Perak Hotel is the worst hotel we have checked in to.
• FeloraT (2/5): Worst visit ever in my life - If there is zero , that’s what i will give this hotel , it should not be operating at all . The facility is so filthy , has a weird smell , rooms and furniture are full of dust. The beddings and towels are supposed to be white but it’s not white anymore but tan . There is bed bugs . Our vacation was ruined because of this hotel . We voiced our issue to the staff but they didn’t help us at all . We were told to wait in the morning coz there is no more housekeeping . So we just have to inhale the dust and bad smell all night . We even asked for a room deodorizer but they don’t have it . We have to go to a store nearby to buy antibacterial wipes to wipe all the dust and sanitized all the surroundings and also buy deodorizer spray to at least neutralize the smell . We asked to shorten our stay coz there’s no way we can stay here . My nephew was having allergy attack due to the dust and my niece had rashes from the bed bugs . The reviews online about this property are not accurate. Most reviews are saying the hotel is clean and comfortable to stay . We made reservation via agoda website, so we contacted them and talked to an agent , but the issue was not resolve . We check out after one night instead of 4 nights and luckily we were able to make another reservation in another hotel . They did not give us any refund . I was told to send an email to the reservation manager , which i did . I didn’t get any reply at all . We always go on vacation 3-4 x a year , this is the worst experience we ever had and the worst hotel ever .Very disappointed coz we have to pay for another reservation.
• Devika (2/5): - Terrible, extremely dirty: stains on sheets, layer of dust and dirt on every surface, cups and glasses filthy, sheets smell of vomit, poor and un-accomodating service. I was told by the person at reception I could leave by bag after checkout until 7pm. The next day when I go to check out, another person at reception says nope can’t leave your bags. I had to then on the spot make other costly arrangements for my bag. Complete waste of money. And the room was definitely smaller than advertised.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Comfortable overnight stay - Our overall experience was good. The hotel was clean, the bed was comfortable and the hotel was conveniently located near a subway station and there’s lots of food stalls around the area. Most staff were friendly however the female receptionist during our stay was rude and unfriendly. All other staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. Despite the bad experience with the female receptionist, we had a comfortable stay at Perak hotel.
• Saul_True (8/5): Pros and Cons - We stayed here for one night in January 2025 on a transit in Singapore. How to judge this place? You’ll either love it or hate it, depending on what’s important to you. Location: 30 seconds’ walk from Rochor MRT station, 35 minutes from Changi Airport. Excellent. Vibe: Slightly seedy vibe around the hotel with clubs, spas, loitering moustachioed fellows, 24 hour eateries and the like. But well-lit and safe. Staff: Night front desk staff friendly and chatty, morning front desk staff grumpy and miserable. Was it something we said? Breakfast: Noodles, rice, cereal, toast. Adequate enough. Have to ask for tea and coffee from the staff. We asked for a second cup and got a disapproving frown. Room: Has seen better days but who cares as long as it’s clean(ish)comfy and quiet. At the end of the day, Perak Hotel isn’t going to win any design or customer service awards but for a convenient transit hotel, it takes some beating.
• 616shah (8/5): Location - The hotel is strategically located near to ronchor MRT station. Just a few minutes walk. Can find halal restaurant around the hotel too. The 24hrs mustafa store also walking distance. Room though quite small but okay. Room is cleaned. Will come back

• Nevada (6/5): - Disappointing stay, worst hotel we've stayed at in Singapore. Hotel has the potential to be good, colonial style building, but is let down by multiple things. When booking months prior, we requested adjoining rooms but ened up on separate floors. The bathrooms were awful, I've never seen so much mould. It's the only time I've felt the need to wear slippers in the shower in Singapore. Found a massive black spider in my bed. Staff are not friendly. We were surprised there was complimentary breakfast, but it was disappointing. Not enough crockery, had to wait for dishes to be hand washed. Not a great selection of food. Super noisy, can hear people above you & in adjacent rooms & walking in the hallway. Can hear ?karaoke music to the early hours of the morning. On the positive side, the location is great, close to Little India & Bugis. Rooms are spacious by Singapore standard.
• sonika (10/5): - Rustic look, small but well equipped rooms. Very good service. The delicious buffet breakfast was a bonus. Tons of cheap and good places to eat around. It’s 200m from a MTR station.
• salsaholic (4/5): We preferred to loose the money already paid for a week and go somewhere else. - My husband and I have a nice memory of the Perak Hotel 20 years ago,so we decided to choose it again for our stay of 7 days last November.Time has not been very kind for this property and things like decor and functionality deteriorated indeed.Starting with the functioning of the lift to the way to lock and unlock of our room on the first floor.Room was clean but small and we had to take turns in moving or even standing,there was a tray with 2 mugs but nothing else,no tea or coffee or sugar.Bathroom very small.Outside our door in the corner there were 2 mattresses just leaning against the wall,waiting for their stains to be cleaned I guess.Breakfast was basic andmessy,you actually had to ask 2 staff members for tea and coffee both placed behind the counter,sliced bread of 2 or 3 varieties still in the supermarket wrapping bags was available for people to fumble through.Emphasis was put to the fact that breakfast was “free”while everywhere else in our travels was just”included”What tipped the scale was the site of old rags that had been washed and placed to dry all over the stairs and some stains on the bed sheets.We decided to loose the money already paid for a week at this hotel and go somewhere else.The Sultan Hotel was 10 times better.Apparently this property has changed hands many times.
• Awdifa (6/5): - ⚠️ KEEP IN MIND: Expedia lists in multiple places that this hotel has laundry facilities and laundry services available. I'd planned to have my laundry done at the hotel, as I had a bit of a long stay, but upon inquiring at the front desk about this, I was told that there are no laundry facilities or laundry services. The hotel should really remove laundry from their list of amenities on Expedia as this is deceiving guests. Other than this, the breakfast buffet was just all right, nothing impressive. The hotel's location right next to the Rochor MRT station is a huge plus. The staff were also incredibly friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself is quite charming. Overall it was a comfortable stay and I would recommend this place to others (with a heads-up about the laundry).

• Michael1052 (8/5): Not the old Perak but still best in Little India - Read some previous/recent reviews, and although parts were excessive, there are nonetheless relevant aspects the owners should consider carefully. Perak changed hands earlier this year, and gone are the super-friendly Chinese owners and staff. Perak was always such a guest-responsive and helpful hotel in an area which, frankly, has little comparable options. In short, I will return to the Perak because it is still the best hotel in Little India - reasonable tariff, excellent location and acceptable room sizes (Little India is renowned for tiny rooms). One reviewer complained about noise - over the decades we have been staying at the Perak, we have come to know the better rooms for quiet sleep. In the past, you could stipulate this - I assume they will still accommodate that request - but in general, inside-facing ground floor rooms are best, then non-front-facing upstairs rooms. BUT, this is a problem all over Asia, so caution is always advised yet one has to just accept when that doesn't always work, and a bad night's sleep destroys one's next day - such is life on the road. Despite the new owners, the positives are that the tariff has not changed that much since post-Covid, the rooms ARE clean - I've never had trouble with cleanliness in The Perak, but then again, this is Asia, so don't expect too much. Now the negatives. Yes, the delightful woman at the desk indeed does not have a welcoming, friendly mien, but despite her stern abruptness, she is actually a very nice person, and will be helpful, once she has laid down the rules! She should realise that arrivals are often exhausted from long flights, and not in the most focused and efficient mind or body - a more gentle understanding would go a long way. The breakfast. ABYSMAL!!! Things were far better when they cancelled breakfast during the Covid days. The old pre-Covid breakfast was never super-duper, but at least it was relaxed and essentially suitable for a traveller's day of exploring Singapore. Outside, it is near impossible to get an egg breakfast, which most westerners prefer (for good reasons!) The Indian man who runs the breakfast is the most obnoxious person I've found in a hotel in Asia (he had such an arrogant swager that I suspect he may be the new owner). You want my opinion - get him out of the kitchen! In the past they staged breakfast, now it's all-in from 8 to 9am. Get there at 8am and there are no eggs yet (boiled are the only offer and they are HOT - obviously this man never eats these things himself). Get there at 8:40 am and there are no eggs left. The only other offering is mashed potato sludge, toasted white bread and some weird extra - potato cakes or poor pastry thingies. Even their tea and coffee is abysmal. And there are not enough seats and tables to cater for the flood of guests cramming in at this time!!! For God's Sake! Where are their brains? (And where are the newspapers?) My advise - outside and across the road, they will do an omelette if you ask them, and their fruit juices are good. Just remember that proper coffee is rare in Little India - they serve a version of Nescafe. In fact, good coffee is an unknown item in South East Asian cuisine. The worst change at The Perak, as another reviewer observed, is that they no longer store your luggage in the back room if you have a flight long after check-out, or arrive long before check-in. Their justification for this changed 'rule' (stipulated in bold type on the official instructions on arrival - easy to miss) is that people steal other's luggage. I'd bet this has never happened, but the owners are afraid of it, and don't want the risk. The previous Perak owners allowed this service for many decades, without any problems, so I'd say the new owners are highly risk-adverse and frankly, don't care about their guest's difficulties because they are currently almost always full. I believe this is simple bloody-minded disinterest in their guests. I know it is a feature across the world of many hotels, but if the owners really had empathy for the difficulties that guest travellers have, they would go to the trouble of recommending a reasonable luggage storage service nearby. Meanwhile, this is an enormous problem for travellers who's flights arrive and depart at awkward hours. My recommendation is that if you want to stay at the New Perak, book the day before arrival and the day beyond departure - that way you will at least have a room, even if you only use it for less than half a day. I asked if one could book extra half-days, and the delightful reception woman finally supposed that might be possible, but I had the feeling it was not an easy option to obtain. All said, the Perak is still my pick for Little India. We have scanned and visited many other alternatives and they all fall far short - mainly on room size. Travellers, just know the obfuscations and work around them. BUT, that does not absolve the new owners of the Perak from lifting their game and becoming a more guest-responsive hotel - it's the little things that stick in people's minds.
• malcolm (6/5): Clean comfortable guest house .A few teasing issue - There were a few teasing issues when i arrived.I had to ask for tea and coffee for my room.Tv only had very few channels.The safe needed new batteries.These were sorted out by the helpful man on reception.The lift was very slow and needed to hold down the button alll the way up so i used tge stairs.I found it very convenient being so close to Rochor MRT.Breakfast only continental but it was sufficient.U had to be esrly to get the chicken nuggets ! On leaving i was informed i could not leave bags to be collected later.In the end he allowed me to leave my suitcase if i carried my rucksack on my back.

• Pradipkumar (4/5): - Got a room with three single beds. Turns out you have to step up on stairs to get to the beds. It didn’t show that in the preview when i booked it online. My mother had bilateral knee surgery. She can’t get up and down the bed. So ended up getting another room.. delux room. On top of the room I had already gotten. Not really impressed with breakfast. I suppose if you can overlook these things. But experience could have been much better.
• Michymafia (2/5): Avoid - Scam - you don’t get your selected room - Worst hotel experience ever. We booked a room with a window and tv. The one we received was with neither. When we declared the situation at the reception, they simply answered there exist no room with tv or window (wtf?). So, I don’t know where they get these pictures as advertised from.. Or they simply lied and gave us a crap room (literally). The room was so close to the reception that even the employee (at night!) is so noisy (video call with his girlfriend) that it was disturbing our night sleep. When I asked politely to keep it down at 2am, he simply continued until around 3am. On top of this, he had such a spite that he was using deliberately the toilet of the room next to us at intervals of 45min-1hour. Just to add salt on the wound. We had to get up at 5am to catch a flight. Avoid this place, 100%.
• Abi1112569 (8/5): Good location and cheap for Singapore - Perfect location close to all public transport and walking distance to many sites. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. The only negative was that the aircon wasn’t as cold as we liked but it was so cheap it didn’t bother us too much. They changed our bedding and towels every day which was very kind.

• Brett (2/5): - We changed rooms 3 times in 3 nights due to rats and mice. It's an older hotel with character, but we did not expect that. We took photos of the vermin.The staff were very friendly and helpful for the most part, but there was no apologies or offers to upgrade for the fourth room. In each of the three rooms we ended up in, NONE of the safes actually worked. Even the staff were unable to operate them. There is a shortage of power points in an older place like this,so you need a power board. The hotels ones did not work. Mould etc in all bathrooms, one tiny bar of soap provided for 6 night stay....no refills.
• Celina (10/5): - We recently stayed at the Perak Hotel for 4 nights and were extremely satisfied with the their service. So friendly and accommodating. The reception staff were very helpful (shout out to Shaan). The hotel room was clean and the rooms made up every day. I appreciated having a shower stall, rather than opening shower room and toilet. The hotel is located in little India and it was a very short walk to the Tekka centre and a really great vegetarian restaurant (Komala Vilas) on the main Serangood Road. Mustafa centre is also nearby and if you like walking it wasn’t far to get to other areas of Singapore like Arab Quarter and Raffles area. If you don’t want to walk, the hotel is close to Rocher MRT (Downtown line) which made getting around very convenient and easy. The price was a little higher than expected, but I think this was due to Taylor Swift being in town and accomodation at a premium. We were happy with our stay and would definitely consider staying again on our next visit to Singapore and recommending Hotel Perak to family and friends.
• Simon (8/5): - This hotel has to be viewed in the context that it is two stars. In addition, on the days that I stayed the prices were inflated due to a large music event in the city. Overall it's safe, clean and fine for a few days stay. The staff are friendly. The place is old and a bit quirky, within the "little India" district. It is seconds from Rochor MRT and many restaurants - of course they are mostly Indian cuisine. There's a Starbucks about 5 mins away. The beds are not very comfortable but adequate. The rooms are pretty old and only a couple of channels on old TV. Wifi is ok (don't forget a VPN). Ask for a room away from Perak Street and on the top floor to avoid street noise and from wood floors in rooms above.
• Magdalena (6/5): - It is a budget hotel in Singapore, so basically the price is the reason to stay there. Location is very good close to the metro, all other stuff is just mediocre.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - Great property in the heart of Little India. Close to numerous restaurants. Good breakfast each day and staff were fantastic in exceptionally trying times. This was our second stay at the property and did not let us down. The staff did everything to assist. Also a surprise was a laundromat straight over the road. The MRT (Train) is only 100 metres away. Will go back here again.
• inisolation (8/5): My preferred hotel in Singapore - I pass through Singapore a couple of times a year travelling between Europe and Australia and the PERAK HOTEL is my first choice. I've stayed at far more luxurious hotels in Singapore but frankly for me the expense is not worth it. I've also stayed in other budget hotels there and most are just too basic or located where I don't want to be. The PERAK, for me, gets the balance of comfort, convenience of location, cleanliness and price just right. This is not a new hotel, in fact I believe that it's a heritage listed building, so the rooms while not modern have a charm of their own. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, the breakfast is basic but good, the public area is clean and comfortable. The location is fantastic right on the edge of little India and a ten minute walk from Bugis street. I took the MRT from Changing airport, cost is $ 2-70, changed at Bugis junction station and came out of the station less than 100 Mtrs. from the hotel. There's an old saying "you get what you pay for" and in my view, given the cost of hotel accommodation in Singapore,the PERAK offers excellent value for money.
• kjpdavid (4/5): 2 star hotel - Booked this hotel via one of the well known booking sites for 3 nights on the basis that the hotel was 3 star. Well, it isn't - its a 2 star at very best. Pros: some of the staff were friendly and helpful (only reason I didn't give it 1 star), close proximity to some of sights. Cons: tiny, aged rooms badly in need of refurbishment, stardard rooms aren't available in a single, large bed format for couples (despite what the booking sites might indicate), TV that simply doesn't work (we booked 2 rooms, TV didn't work in either - when I asked for it to be fixed, I was given "so sorry" with obvious insincerity), ancient elevator that was scary to get into (we used it only twice, once when we took our luggage to our rooms and the second time when we took our luggage down to check out), having to commit the day before to one of 3 breakfast shifts (7.30 - 8.30, 8.30 - 9.30, 9.30 - 10.30) as the breakfast area wasn't big enough to cater for all guests at one sitting, loud and persistent noise of nearby construction that started very early morning. To say that my expectation on booking a 3 star hotel (so apparently self described) were not met would be an understatement. I definitely will not be returning and recommend that you don't if you're looking for 3 star accommodation.

All the pluses (good location, near to mrt, clean bed, good and friendly staff etc) have already been mentioned. The negatives? Nothing major for me. As long as you manage your expectations, you should be fine. Think budget airlines (no frills). Thanks JiaWen and your team for a very nice stay. Will be back..

Very helpful staff. The location is very close to Little India with easy access to Metro station and bus stop. Total value for money. Look for deals on Trip Advisor or other related portals.

• Sodi (4/5): Wouldn't Stay Here Again - Small hotel with small old rooms, in a noisy part of town. Tiny shower room, dated and needs modernising throughout, hard beds, limited breakfast choice. Was just uncomfortable. On arrival I was given a room with two tiny single beds despite having booked a double bed several weeks prior to arriving. The beds were not even long enough to sleep on, more like childrens beds. When I pointed this out, I was told to place the two beds together and to sleep across them; ridiculous. Then told that an email had been sent out to advise me that a double bed was not available, none was ever received. After a lot of argueing with the reception and asking to see the manger I was given what was supposed to be a "Free Upgrade" to a deluxe double room, which was very small with a rock hard and still quiet small double bed, and tiny shower room. Will not be staying here ever again. It's a run down old place that is in need of full modernisation and refurbishment. All the furniture is dated and old, breakfast is very limited, and I wouldn't rate this place above a bad 2-Star hotel.

Room is clean, comfortable. TV program unexciting. Didnt watch. However bathroom at times give bad odor ( improvement opportunity) Breakfast not luxurious however ample. Just like home. Staff are friendly. Overall not luxurious but cozy and homely. Rochor MRT station just across the road. 24 hr indian muslim restaurants/ 7 E near hotel. Will stay again.
• Coral (10/5): Location is Fabulous - We stayed 8 nights in superior room on top floor including minibar snacks & softdrink (not beer). Room is compact but this is Singapore & for the price it can't be beat! There is a lift if needed but we used the stairs. Breakfast has all you need to start the day: fruit, toast, cooked & tea coffee etc. MRT easy to use & just steps away Rochor station. We picked up Ezylink card at Changi & put $20.00 on it & still some left at end of week but lasts for 5 years. Used it from airport to Jalan Besar MRT then short walk to Perak. Staff v helpful & friendly. Fabulous Indian places to eat & drink next door open 24 hrs. Try the ginger tea or Tip Top for biryani. Nice quiet spot but full of charm & atmosphere. Money changer on Serangoon Rd near Tekka Centre had same rates as shown on XE.com
