- MYUNGHUN (10/5): Amazing hotel! - I had a truly wonderful two-night stay here. Surrounded by nature, it was the perfect place to relax and recharge. During my stay, I enjoyed playing tennis and taking peaceful walks, which made the experience even more special. The staff were all incredibly kind and attentive, and the service was exceptional throughout. Both the breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious. It was a heated swimming pool, but a bit cold to swim in May. However, we were glad that we could use the jacuzzi with our child before the opening hours, which was very nice. I sincerely hope to return soon and stay for a longer time next visit.

Our room was beautiful, tidy, and equipped with all the main essentials. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially Diletta at the restaurant reception, who was exceptionally kind and professional. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed every moment. The food was good, the spa and facilities were excellent, and parking was easy with valet service available. This is the perfect place for anyone who wants to enjoy the Tuscan countryside without long drives from Florence. The whole experience was smooth, relaxing, and truly memorable. Right after check-in, Giulia gave us a warm tour of the property and walked us to our room—which was absolutely stunning. Spacious, elegant, and with views that immediately made us feel relaxed and spoiled. Later in the day, we met Fabio, the hotel manager—gracious, attentive, and clearly passionate about creating a memorable guest experience. The hotel is set in the most peaceful and breathtaking surroundings—rolling hills, vineyards, and a calm that’s hard to put into words. We spent hours on the terrace, soaking in the view over delicious lunches and romantic dinners. Every dish was wonderful, but a special thank you goes to Chef Giovanni—I’m still thinking about those ricotta pancakes at breakfast! The pool was perfect for a gentle dip and some quiet sun time, and the housekeeping staff were incredible—our room was always spotless, fresh, and beautifully maintained. This trip gave us exactly what we needed: time to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy some stillness before becoming parents. We left feeling rested, happy, and full of gratitude. We couldn’t recommend Como Castelo Del Nero more—it’s not just a beautiful hotel, it’s an experience.

- bennS5952RJ (2/5): Disappointing - Do Not Be Fooled by the Views - This Hotel Was a Huge Disappointment Jun 2025 My family and I stayed here for two nights and I must say, this is one of the most overrated hotel stays of our life. Sure, the view's nice. And that is where the pros end. Staff check-in took over an hour with attitudes from staff even though we were polite. We had two rooms-one Como Suite and one Estate Room-and both were outdated and underwhelming. Bare walls, horrible. The Estate Room had a terrible moldy smell-so much so that we all left with coughs and sinusitis. When we complained, the staff just said "okay" and that was the end of it. We also requested twin real beds in the Estate Suite-we received a queen and an awful, old, rollaway bed that was so uncomfortable my other son had to sleep on the couch-and he spent the whole trip in a bad mood due to lack of sleep. Ridiculously unacceptable for this price. Staff operates a Michelin star restaurant? A simple three course meal took three hours. There were no a la carte options. Which was an issue since one of are family members is pescatarian. The "non-fancy" restaurant was equally disappointing. The food was fine but it was a battle of hand waving to get the servers’ attention after waiting 15+ minutes. The pool was beautiful, but there was one overworked (and admittedly lovely) server forced to help 20 people, so again, service was tough. The pillows on the couch in the Estate Room smelled funny. We told staff and they did nothing. WE STAYED IN ROOM 403 AND 404. DO NOT STAY IN 403.

Undeniably - this is the BEST hotel breakfast I've ever had. This place makes a Ritz Carlton breakfast taste like school cafeteria food. The tiramisu I ordered via room service was better than tiramisu I had in US Italian restaurants with tasting menus. Overall food here, is on a new level! The room was cozy and had phenomenal views. Turndown service came with gummy candies that were on a new level. Lastly, The team strikes the last balance of professionalism and warmth. Receptionists and restaurant staff always were attentive and came with a smile. Would probably nudge Michelin to give this place 2 keys, instead of 1 key.

In looking at the map, I was unsure how the location would work out, as our goal was to drive to small Tuscan towns each day. Turns out this was a great location and a great property. The room was clean and large, staff was very friendly and accommodating, food was good we had breakfast and dinners, and the setting is very pretty. We have a special needs son, and everyone was very kind and helpful in handling any special requests we had to meet his needs. We left this property to go to Florence, and in retrospect wished we had stayed longer at Como Castello. The hotel is well located for driving in Tuscany - we enjoyed the pretty ~1 hour drives to some of the smaller towns we visited, and the roads are good. There is a small town near the property for gas, and a few restaurants. Overall a great location, superb friendly and helpful staff, and great property. We would absolutely stay here again.

It’s a castle overlooking beautiful Tuscan hills and olive groves. Amenities were top notch. Breakfast in the Pavilion was so delicious and everything was so fresh. Yoga with Giulia facing the hills in the morning was a wonderful way to begin our day. What made our stay even more special was the staff. From the bell hop to the breakfast wait staff everyone treated us like we were well liked family members :). Giulia at the front desk, Maria at the spa and Francesca , Valentina and Giuseppe at the Pavilion deserve special mention. If you are planning a trip to Tuscany you must stay here!

However, for this resort to feel more comfortable and welcoming as resort it will require a few changes: The rooms are to bright. The lights system are designed for business only. There are not one single dimmer in the entire room or bathroom. Secondly important thing are the steps to access the bathroom. Definitely is not recommended for elderly people. Another thing, there are no place for a makeup station. The heritage room is too big and not cozy at all. The fireplace it was only a decorative piece of art. The hallway needs a rugs for a better acoustic sound. The walls are missing pictures with a nice landscape of Tuscany or either a little bit of historic moments about Italy. It perhaps about the Nero… anyway. I have been traveling to over 68 countries, and I have had great experiences around the world. So I can feel the difference between welcoming resorts or a more business experience:

PROS: tranquil, serene, beautifully styled, gorgeous gardens, 10 mile vistas, incredible breakfast service, location CONS: limited private public areas, at peak service hours staff pressed, some rooms may be compact and lack views, dimmer lighting at Taverna and Pavillion in evening. My first COMO and I will try others. Used PLAT AMEX got upgraded to 201 suite which was incredible. Friendly and warm staff!
- EL0424 (8/5): Castle turned hotel - We stayed here for 2 nights of a Backroads cycling trip in Tuscany. The hotel is pretty with magnificent views of the hills and valleys of the region. Our room (204) had a nice view. The breakfasts were lovely and we also enjoyed a nice dinner outside on the terrace one night during our stay. The pool is lovely and offers incredible views. We utilized the spa at Como Castello del Nero and give our experience mixed reviews. The hotel only has about 50 rooms, but oddly feels much bigger and offers less intimate service than expected.
- LOM-NYC (8/5): Good but could be better - The view is fantastic, the service phenomenal, the food is good, and location convenient to visit Chianti towns with a car - all within 30 minutes. Our room was gorgeous, a suite, with fantastic views and large bathroom (albeit small shower); very well appointed. Bath products have a really strong smell fyi. Be aware that this hotel is VERY modern, almost too much for the setting, and it has some real misses in terms of design that will affect the quality of your stay: -there are eye sores everywhere, from the horrendous ATM machine, the fire extinguishers (could be placed in different corner), the mirror room, and the absolutely hideous main restaurant; more on that later. There are also HUGE misses on leveraging their fantastic view: -the pool has zero view, so it was a huge let down. The tree is beautiful but they really should trim all hedges around. Also, you look directly into the hideous towel stand; that should be moved. -Only 4 pool chairs have a view, four!! -their terraces feel “stale” once you sit down, you have zero view- again, they need to trim the plants. Also, the chairs where you’d have a view are turned the other way(!). They are also too modern and gray and drab. This place needs a professional visual designer to maximize their view; that’s why we’re there for. In addition, staff constantly walks back and forth on terraces carrying carts of glasses, food, electric equipment, etc. It’s honestly hard to relax with so much back and forth; felt stressful. They need to figure out a more discreet path for all the work. But the biggest eye sore is their main restaurant. It’s literally a makeshift tent and hideous. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it. It gets cold and damp if chilly or rainy and hot when hot outside. Has hideous fans on the ceiling and plastic sides. Forget white table cloths. Really unacceptable for this hotel category. AND is outside, so if it rains you’ll need an umbrella or walk through the dark gym. Not a great experience. The food was excellent during the week and disappointing on the weekend. Their bar inside is again too modern but aside from the Vegas style atm, you CANNOT order ANY food here. So if you’re hungry and it’s wet outside and don’t want their Michelin restaurant, you’re stuck with eating at the tent restaurant. On the good side is their proprietary Como wine - phenomenal, worth a trip for that. Their jacuzzi was the best ever, big and so so fun. Nice spa too. The service from Mattias, Matteo, Gabriel and Giulia (frontdesk) was outstanding. Ask for their printout sheets when visiting towns. Super helpful. In September, they have harvesting of grapes and an olive tree grove dinner that was totally worth it and lovely. Very unique and fun with music. Shuttle to siena/Florence only runs on specific days and leaves at 10am and comes back at 6pm, so rent your own car! Overall, we may come back but I’d be looking for more eye pleasing hotels before returning and definitely waiting for improved restaurant structure and a pool view.

Rolling Hills and Vineyards the grounds are absolutely stunning with Rolling Hills and breathtaking views around every corner. The hotel sits on 740 plus acres and has great hiking/walking trails. It is located in the heart of the Chianti region and a shirt trip to San Gimignano and Sienna. I would especially like to give a shout out to Matteo who was very accommodating to any request we have. All of the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We did not have a chance to try the Michelin star restaurany inside of the hotel but I heard it is absolutely wonderful from the other guests. I would highly reccomend!

Room Sizing was great and views from the room were AMAZING. The spa services were great BUT very expensive (we travel very regularly). Staff in areas except for the reception were pretty amazing! Breakfast area - Gabrielle is one they need to keep! He is so amazing always happy to appease! Pool side - Jay was so great always preempting our requests and always happy! Day Spa - Eva is a talented masseuse! The La Torre restaurant wasn’t as great as i expected considering the high prices. Reception staff could be a little friendlier and more helpful in organising external activities. At this price point an accessible activities/services planning support would be helpful. We requested services to Florence and the reception were not very helpful (yes they offer a shuttle but the timing did not suit us). We needed options so that we can have a private drop and pickup vs taxi due to the fear of being unable to get one back to the property at night after dinner. The reception weren’t very helpful which was frustrating. Overall improvement should be made to support activity/stay planning upon checkin as we would have loved to know about the Hot Air Balloon option, that we only found out about our last day because we saw it during breakfast. Upon arrival we were greeted and shown around by a lovely lady who also runs the yoga on-site. She was so engaging and genuine (I cannot remember her name but upon she is the perfect selection for greeting new guests! The grape harvest activity was pretty great! The staff and organisation of the activity considered attention to detail. Improvement could be made in communication in terms of what to wear and what to expect on the day. We also had a private Vespa tour with Samuelle (our private tour guide who was AMAZING). It was an experience that we will never forget. I was a little nervous but Samuelle (who is young but more mature than his age!) was great at providing me the confidence I needed. The activity was super expensive but one we won’t regret or forget! Etched memory!

- Pituttraveller (10/5): Our Favorite - We spent four beautiful days at Castello del Nero in July 2024. It was our fourth time and it is truly one of our favorite hotels we have ever stayed at. We were three friends and we received the gorgeous and huge Heritage Suite 116. We love that spacious Room so much: it has a separate living room with studio and desk, a fireplace (provided with candles). The highlight is the amazing high ceiling with frescos. Having an afterdinner drink with candles in that room was a magical feeling. The bedroom is separate and connected to a large bathroom with walk-in shower. Coming here from 2011 makes the Castello del Nero more special to us from time to time. Also the fantastic staff makes us feel very welcome. You can see and feel they really want guests to feel good and special. The hotel is an ancient beautiful castle throning on a hill with a spectacular and vast 360 degrees view on Tuscany. The huge Pool has a pleasant temperature in which we spent hours. We would like to thank the fantastic staff for the room and the special treatment. We will never forget this and look forward to coming back again in our Tuscan home.

We had a rental car, but the hotel offers a shuttle to both Florence and Siena as well. The aspect from the hotel is beautiful and exactly what you hope Tuscany will look like. The amenities were excellent, and we found the staff extremely helpful. The service was not as formal as some Italian hotels which we appreciated, and all the staff had some English (and were tolerant of our attempts to speak Italian!) We ate at their casual restaurant each night of our stay and the food and service were perfect. We also really enjoyed aperitif’s each evening on their terrace. The pool was great - really warm, and there were enough loungers for everyone (one day there was not and the staff bought out more). We had a room on the top floor and the views were very good. In all, one of the best hotels we have stayed at, and we would strongly recommend.

Absolutely stunning, uplifting views. Good dinners too. Reception staff very nice and helpful. The decor was horrible - grey everywhere, walls, ceiling, floor, furniture. There were no pictures on the walls. The furniture was modern corporate stuff - all grey, no charm - completely at odds with a historic castle. My friends (in two separate bedrooms) had horrible rooms, small with no windows / outlook. I had a fab room in terms of comfort and view but it was noisy as delivery vans came at 6 am each morning and noisily unloaded just outside my window. The bar was horrible and there was no comfortable lounge to sit in. There was a lovely outside terrace but the weather was not warm enough when we were there to use it and I suspect in the summer it could be too hot. The spa was weird - not nice. A steam room but no sauna. There was a good sized hot tub / jacuzzi but one could not access it from the swimming pool area as a hedge had been grown between the pool and the spa so that one had to go round to the main entrance of the spa which involved a long walk and flights of stairs from the pool area. The hedge also blocked the view from the jacuzzi and spa (and it should be a fab view across the hills/ olive groves and vineyards). The hedge is madness! Bar and restaurant staff slow and did not know how to make tea. They must have many English clients - why don't they learn how to make a pot of tea properly! Heat the tea pot, put in the tea-bags, then add boiling water. Simple!

The food was OUTSTANDING - cannot stress that enough. Such a great location. Did not want to leave. The hotel staff were so helpful in helping to organize our activities and accommodate us.
