• Erik (3/5): In die Jahre gekommen und sehr unflexibel weit ausserhalb der Stadt - Das Hotel wirbt mit einer Sauna; diese ist aber schon sicher viele Monate nicht mehr in Betrieb. Kurz gesagt der Spa ist vollkommen veraltet. Das Hotel wird geführt wie zu Kaisers Zeiten; extrem steif und es gibt keine Abweichung von den Regeln. Verlangt also niemals einen späteren check out; er wird einfach wegen der Regel nicht gewährt. So ist es mit allen Dingen. Zudem ist das Hotel ausserhalb der Stadt; das Zentrum ist so weit weg, dass man auf den Hotel-Transfer oder den Leihwagen angewiesen ist. Alles in allem ist auch wenn das Personal nett ist, ist die Art wie das Hotel geführt wird nicht kundenorientiert Man sieht auch nie einen Manager; das Hotel hat kein Gesicht

• Padmininagachandra (8/5): Our stay in April 2025. Just the beginning of Fall and getting colder by the day! The hotel is atop an amazing hillock!! - The hotel is atop a hill facing the massive Argentino lake. The view by day and night is just outstanding. The staff need to be trained in courtesy and customer service especially the dining area staff! They had no smile on their faces. The tongs used for cold cut meats were being used for tomato slices. There was no live counter for eggs etc. All the items were cold and very unpalatable in the cold weather
• 1lornie (4/5): Out of the Way and Tired - This hotel is so old! NOTHING has been done to make improvements since it was built. The carpets are stained. The furniture is fabric and hasn't been changed. The bed is lumpy, and the pillows were hard as a rock. The food in the restaurant is not good. Breakfast is ridiculous with canned fruit cocktail and peaches, which I haven't seen since a child. It is also very expensive. Some of the staff is pleasant, some quite disagreeable. It is a hefty price to get to the downtown. They have a shuttle, but it doesn't run until 3:30pm! There aren't many options if staying here. I'd still check for something downtown to save a lot of time and expense.
• suedO4736OC (2/5): Disappointing. Tiny single beds - Tired bedrooms, single small beds. Water £4 per small bottle. Few complimentary bathroom items. Tea bags provided on the first day but after you are charged. No milk provided, unless you pay . Disappointing. This hotel says shuttle service but this does not run until mid afternoon. The hotel can basically charge what it wishes because you are out of town. We had to wait until 30m to check in but had to Che k out at 10.30.

• Michael (10/5): Great views, nice rooms - Hotel has beautiful views. Hotel is nice and breakfast is very good. Rooms are dated and a little small… sound travels thru the walls very easily. Note the hotel is outside of town, need a car or bus, too far to walk.
• D8600TFangelab (6/5): Great views and … - Nice views, room without wifi for days, a bit run down and slightly out of town but friendly staff, good breakfast and restaurant. As many options in Calafate will probably not repeat. The glaciers are a must so going to Calafate is certainly a must.
• BVIFun (6/5): Better Options in El Calafate - Our travel agent booked us into this run down hotel outside town. The entire place needs a re-do. The big pool was nice and they offered a shuttle into town that runs from 3 pm to 11 pm. Luckily, it is a cheap uber ride. The rooms lack sound proofing so you hear everyone coming/going. I think there would be much nicer places in town that are more convenient to restaurants.

• SiLem123 (10/5): Recommended for location and quality of service - Superb location with views over mountains, but be aware it is some way out of town and quite a way to walk. That said, the free shuttle bus works well. Room was clean and comfortable, no issues except my wife accidentally broke the bathroom door lock trying to exit the bathroom. Warped wood and stiff doorknob. We reported it to reception and it was fully fixed during the following day. Impressed! Surprised to read negative comments about breakfast, we found it very good with plenty of variety especially the pastries and cakes. Very clear rules about not taking breakfast food out of the dining room (you will be charged for the food!). We did not put the warning to the test, but not an unreasonable or unreasonable request and suspect they might have had issues previously. Excellent indoor pool, proper size for doing lengths and lovely and warm. Also, a children’s pool. Sauna/hot room not operating when we stayed. Staff friendly and helpful. They use WhatsApp to send you the basic housekeeping information hence why they will ask for your mobile phone when you check in. Overall, highly recommended.

Reception staff were warm and helpful. Easy transfer to airport or the center of El Calafate. An excellent choice at the gateway to Patagonia!
• DeniseL3209 (8/5): Nice views, lovely pool - This hotel is a bit out of town, but has a good shuttle bus to get you there and back, as long as you can negotiate the booking service. the hotel is pleasant, the rooms clean, and have lovely views over the lake. The pool and spa area were really nice & staff there helpful; the pool was open till quite late, so nice to have a swim as the sun was going down. Breakfast selection was good, and I had an enjoyable meal on my first evening stay.
• use2024 (4/5): hotel experience =4 // restaurant experience =1 ( I would say 0, but the buffet breakfast was good! ) - The hotel was clean. The hotel staff was polite and professional. The buffet breakfast had a lot of variety and the food was quite good. Dinner at the restaurant was terrible. The food was of poor quality, poorly prepared, and both dishes --BOTH, were overcooked and served dry and cool. What motivated me to write this is the restaurant staff. I will not waste your time with details, but in addition to being impolite and disrespectful, one staff member was underhanded, unprofessional, and a bit unethical.

• diana (10/5): - Beautiful facility with a breathtaking view of the lake and mountains. The hotel is far from down town, where the restaurants and shopping places are. Although the hotel provides a shuttle service, it is limited to the late afternoon/night. You will ended paying several taxi rides to move back and forth.
• Simone (9/5): Very nice view over El Calafate - Very nice hotel located on the top of a hill above El Calafate. We had our own car but the hotel offers shuttle service in the afternoon and evening into "downtown". Staff was very nice and helpful. They even let us change our rooms to a more silent part of the hotel when we did not have a good night sleep in the first rooms. Hotel has a nice and large lap pool, pretty warm and another smaller pool as well as a nice gym area with a view. Breakfast choice was plenty, buffet style. Over all one could notice that is main tourist season and that the staff cannot pay as much attention as maybe needed. (i.e. maintenance of the pool area) But we experienced the hotel as one of the best in Patagonia in this category and price range.
• Dimple (3/5): it isn’t value for money. very noisy and rooms are hot with mo ventilation - location overlooking the town and the lake is fabulous. and breakfast was good rooms were hot and noisy. there was a noise coming from the bathroom all the time - water and air suction. we complained but it happened all night anyway. we had 3 rooms and none of us slept well. expensive hotel and I would never stay there again

Kalen, in particular, was extremely helpful and we were lucky to have met him and stayed there. Highly recommend for those visiting El Calafate!

The only turn off was all the smokers smoke in front of the hotel so when you walk through the lobby of the hotel you see all the smokers and smell the smoke walking inside. It’s a turn off. You should move the smoking area to the side of the hotel. The first impression you get of the hotel is the front entrance porch with all the smokers.
• Rollo (10/5): - I loved the location of this hotel in El Calafate. Sits on top of the hill you see everything. Only 5 minutes from the main area, but they have a shuttle to drop you off and pick you up. The hotel was reasonable priced and great value for the type of room you get. I thought the staff were very helpful. The food was good in this hotel as well. For the value and price I would recommend this hotel easily over some of the higher priced hotels. This one is very classy and personable.
• Paul (8/5): Great location for a quick stay - Great location hotel has good facilities but is a bit tired and needs updating. That said it is a great base and staff were very helpful. Didn’t use spa but looks a good option for those that want a pool. Shuttle bus runs hourly and works very well.

Very good breakfast, dinner not that much. The gnocchi dish was inedible, when mentioned to the server he removed it from the bill. I would strongly recommend this hotel when visiting El Calafate.
• hilary (8/5): HIGH HOTEL IN CALAFATE - We had the absolutely best room, #301...beautiful views, a suite that was gorgeous and clean. The staff, although helpful, had some issues with communication. Although I speak a little Spanish, it took 30 + minutes to check out (due to translation problems) and we felt pressured to make our plane. The staff in the restaurant also has a hard time communicating in English. Between my simple Spanish and their non English, we could understand each other. The Manager is proficient in English so that helped. All in all it was a lovely experience!

We liked the staff, the lunchboxes they could pack for excursions, the spa was decent and the restaurant had good food. We wished we could better control the heat in the rooms (it was done via central control) but were generally happy. Good value for the money. And the shuttle to town was convenient.

Restaurant is empty yet needs two hours booking. Weak service, weak offering 3. Shuttle into town only starts at 10:15 and has to be pre booked. 4. Room upkeep very average. Not 5 star quality 5. When I checked out they tried to charge me in Pesos higher than booked at Expedia, till I checked the dollar rate and converted back. Then they said it’s taxes. Finally after 30 minutes they changed to the rate booked with Expedia. Do NOT stay here is my recommendation

• Juan J. (8/5): Acceptable expensive option to stay in El Calafate - El Calafate is an expensive destination in Argentina. The hotel is greatly located for the view and has a shuttle to town every hour or so. A bit overpriced for the overall condition of the facility. Reduced staff though friendly, food OK though not delicious, breakfast monotonous day-after-day, nice swimming pool. They took 2 whole days to fix the safe in the room. I would recommend you do more research for your stay in El Calafate. We saw several nice hotels in town and I bet they are not as expensive.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Over all Alto Calafate - Everything was good. I have nothing but good things to say. (except) Room Comfort: #1. Room 228: When weather is comfortable, temperature reached almost 80F, could not open the window for fresh air and there is no room fan either. Since window mesh (net) is old and broken in places, the bugs started crawling in thru them moment window was opened. #2. Room 706: Since all Aerolineas Argentina flights were cancelled on Feb 25, 2017 Saturday afternoon from El Calafate airport (FTE), I have to go back to Alto Calafate, the staffs were nice enough to accommodate me for the night. Now I find a nice fat juicy Spider in the bathroom. No problem with the window mesh. In both cases I did not bother to complain to the staffs, it seemed so snotty!! Thank you
• Cristina (8/5): Out of town with nice views - E had 3 days there and after the day excursions , it was nice to be able to use the Spa. We did also eat in the hotel , the food was just about ok , with slow service. We would have liked to go out but too far after a long day .

• LMS (2/5): Rude staff, false advertising, overpriced. - When I arrived at the reception an unfriendly girl checked me in .. making me feel as If she was making me a big favor for doing so. I had a confirmed city view and got a room overlooking the back of the building . When I complaint she said they were full and she coudnt do anything. I tried to have dinner at the restaurant but only to found out you need to make a reservation at least two hours before you want to go. Tried calling room service and they kept on answering and hanging up.. Until JUAN took my order and the order never arrived. The fitness center opens at 9:00 am !! Which I consider a bit late and weird .. They are far from EL Calafate maybe 15 minutes offer transfers but once again you need to reserve at least two hours before.. Staff is unfriendly and I got the feeling that they were trying to rip me off all the time. Wifi was not working for the entire weekend. No AC adaptors or USB connectors. Cable TV was blurred all the time.. Make yourself a favor and choose another hotel
• Verified traveler (6/5): Bad location - This hotel is on top of a hill 2 miles away from El Calafate. There is nothing around it, no amenities, no stores, no nothing. There is a shuttle service that runs every other hour (more or less) but te first one starts at 10:15, so if you want to do anything in town before that time good luck. I was under the impression that service also covered the airport but it doesn't. Other hotels pick up their guests at the airport but this hotel doesn't and you have to arrange your own transportation. I was completely unimpressed with my room. The hotel is very stuffy and I had to sleep with windows open. Walls apparently are very thin and you can hear everything your next door guests are doing. Room was clean, breakfast was good, staff was OK in general, some were good others not so eager to help that much.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice calm hotel - Nice hotel, just before Calafate. it has a nice restaurant. it has a shuttle service to the town since its 30 mins walk away. Wifi worked ok and the staff was helpful about explaining the different tour options offered in town.

Unbelievable views and sunsets about 5 km from the main town which you can see in the distance. there is an adequate gym and a small swimming pool with adjacent spa area. We use the restaurant quite a bit and meals were absolutely fine especially the lomo

• Ian (10/5): Honeymoon - My wife and I decided to have a honeymoon in Patagonia. The hotel was really great. It was expensive compared to the others in the area, but was really worth it. The room was very large and comfortable. It felt like more of an apartment than room. The staff was very helpful.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Setting Out Of Town - The hotel is located on a hill about 10 minutes out of town which is nice if you want peace and quiet. Rooms are extremely stuffy and hot as reported by other reviewers. Breakfast choices are also very limited. Overall a very nice hotel which is let down by the room temperature and lackluster breakfast choices.

• William (6/5): Not good value for its price. - First of all, the location of theAlto Calfate Patagonia Hotel is inconvenient. Guests must take an hourly shuttle service to get into town. The shuttle runs up to 20 minutes late. We discovered many other hotels that were more luxurious and less expensive in El Calafate (e.g., Hotel Posada Los Alamos, Hotel Hostem Aike, etc.). The rooms were comfortable, but the elevator needs servicing, one of the two pools had no water and the water in the other pool was too hot. Not good value for its price.
