- Robin (6/5): Stay the night for easy access to Lembongan... - This is a classic Balinese hotel = quite old and not keeping up what you maybe are used to. The rooms are small and bathrooms quite outdated. Towels in bathroom should really be replaced for good... I would say it’s priceworthy to stay here for a night or two when passing through, but never travel here for the destination nor the hotel itself. The staff was however very tender and the restaurant, with both breakfast and dinner, filled its purpose. Get the coffee from the Kopi next door tough. Great location right by the beach and minutes away from the boats to Lembongan.

The environment is beautiful, breakfast was a good selection and the room was spacious and had all that was needed with a comfortable bed. The restaurant is on the beachfront - a great location for catching the boat to the islands. I had a massage too and was really happy with the spa service on-site - easy! Would stay here again

- Verified traveler (8/5): - There are a large number of hotels to choose from in Sanur. Like a lot of people we made our choice based on price and the pictures on the websites. It was a good choice. Sanur itself is a quiet resort, certainly compared to Kuta. It is a starting point for many of the ferries to the islands. Diwangkara hotel is well positioned in a great location with direct access to the beach and the ferries. The hotel has quite a few negative reviews on line; we can see where some of these are coming from but think that people are being a bit harsh. The towels do need replacing, the bathrooms need refurbishing. But they are clean, breakfast is good value, the restaurant looks onto the beach, the pool is excellent. The best bit was the staff who were pleasant and helpful throughout. We stayed for a week and were very happy there, using Sanur as a base to explore the island. Would we stay again? If we go back to Sanur then definitely.

- Amanda (6/5): Väldigt slitet!! - Väldigt slitet. Dörren till toaletten gick inte att stänga. För att låsa ytterdörren behövde man vara två då en behövde hålla igen dörren medans den andra låste. Skicket på hotellet och rummet (villa shared pool) var dåligt. Slitet. Polen var skräpig. Och de mesta var mer eller mindre sönder. Annars fint läge. Mysigt och lugnt.
- Sherri (8/5): Canadian Girl in Bali - This is a very nice property with beautiful pool& right on the beach! The Manager& staff are all very helpful at arranging cabs or recommendations where to eat! The room was huge with a stocked mini fridge& it's very quite at night for sleeping. You also get a delicious welcome cocktail& mini massage which was an excellent surprise. The hotel is at one end of the Promonade which goes on forever, but if you like walking as i do it only takes an hour or you can rent a bike. Overall, it's Good value for your money& i'm an a woman traveling alone& felt totally safe staying here😊
- Neil (10/5): Very handy location for Island transport. - Stayed one night. The staff at check in were very friendly. The room DJ or the price was great . The bed was comfortable for Bali standards. Linen a little grayish. Spa had the best massage. Hotel restaurant on the beach lovely food and service for dinner. Breakfast included in room price was very good. Enough choices. Unfortunately the pool was under repair due to earthquakes damage. With one night stay we didn't miss using it. Definitely recommend this hotel.

- Anthony (10/5): Old Original Balinese Hotel - The hotel has faded charm but work is starting on upgrading some areas. Restaurant served very good breakfast and food in the evening is excellent. Staff are young ambitious and gracious. All facilities worked and gardens are well established. The area is quiet, unlike the centre of Sanur and the more popular modern hotels. The best coffee in Sanur is at the Kopi Kiosk next to the restaurant on the paved walkway. We chose to stay here as my wife uses a wheelchair sometimes and the paved walkway which runs for 7kms was well suited for taking her out and about. Both my wife and daughter used the services of the Spa/Massage in the hotel and said it was excellent. I did not go as I am extremely tickleish!. Prices for food and drink are comparable with other hotels on the stretch. If you like to people watch, this is the place to do it. The beach is full of locals in the evening and at weekends and they are very friendly and nice to talk to. All in all, we enjoyed our 15 nights here, the bed was very comfortable and the hotel was half full, just the way we like it.

- Wendy (8/5): Relaxing beachfront hotel - The location on the beach near the Sanur beach walk is the reason we chose this hotel. The gardens are lovely and the restaurant is pleasant--looking out over the beach. The beach is nice, though it is adjacent to the public beach and the public market stalls so tends to get crowded on weekends and holidays.
- Geoff (8/5): Peaceful and relaxing, but needs a reno. - Stayed here 1 night as accomadation I had booked elsewhere was very poor. This is a very old and dated hotel, rooms are basic but with a comfy bed. Aircon was good, small fridge and a shower over bath. I much prefer a seperate shower. Plumbung was showing its age so getting the shower right was a task. The grounds of the hotel are very nice, as is the restaurant and bar area on the beach. Dinner on the beach was very nice. Hotel is at the top end of Sanur beach near all the cruise departures, lots of market stalls around, and they wernt pushy.
- Rozana (6/5): Not as good as 10 years ago - Mistaken as local (indonesian) me and my parents were not entertained the same as other tourist especially by a lady staff at coffee house. Not even good morning greeting. Our table were almost full of used plates and was only cleared after i called and spoke in english. And she showed her sour face throughout the breakfast. Eventhough are Malaysian, we paid the same price as the westerner. And we should be getting the same friendly treatment. We were here 10 years ago and it was better then.

- Mick Liggins (10/5): Like a home away from home - From the moment I walked in I knew I had made the right decision to stay at Diwangkara, the staff made you feel like a regular guest returning once again and I could not fault anything to be honest. I'm actually booked in again on the 12 August I liked it so much. A big thank you to staff and owners for a truly enjoyable stay.

Would recommend this hotel, and would certainly stay again.

- Lori (8/5): Great value and generally pleasant - Its an older hotel but fabulous location that backs up to the beach and is right beside the market! The beds were comfy and the buffet breakfast wonderful, but the showers were weak and there was only 1 outlet in the room. The office had outlet adapters free to borrow which was a huge blessing but on the negative side it took well over 20 minutes to check in. I think they don't check their online bookings because when I booked 6 weeks before staying there I made a request for a pickup at the airport and they finally replied a few days before my trip (at which point I'd already made other plans), and when we arrived and I said we had a reservation they didn't have any record or printouts. Completely disorganized (but friendly). They had to "prepare the rooms" and didn't offer juice or water, or have drinks to buy from a cooler - not pleasant in the tropical heat after a long trip. Overall you will enjoy this stay.
- keith (8/5): big old style traditional bali hotel - big bedroom / sitting area and bathroom ....what let it down was the bathroom and overall cleaning in general.. it was just a bit grubby ,,nothing that an hour or so spent with a bucket of bleach and a scrubbing brush along with new fiitings ... it would transform the room into something really nice,,, ..otherwise a great hotel which i will deffo stay there again

- Jon (8/5): Location location - Diwangkara is a friendly and attractive hotel located on the beach front. It is possible to sit in the restaurant and be about 6 inches from the beach. What else could you want? There's a decent pool. The internet isn't the fastest and you have to login in every time. Depsite it's beach front location it is located a good 10min walk from the main group of beach front hotels/restaurants and as is where many boats from it's own private beach isn't the nicest - we actually paid a little to use another hotels further along. If you want a different choice of restaurant (and there are some beautiful ones on the beach) it's a bit of a walk and parts of it are very dark which may make some feel uncomfortable, particularly as a lot of locals tend to hang round the stalls at night in this area. Anyway, you get what you pay for!

We got to our room and it was nothing like the pictures. The hotel was so run down, not very clean and I was only thankful we were only staying one night...the next morning we went down for breakfast; it was disgusting! I watched a member of staff picking up various bits of food then putting it back...very very poor. Not the first impression of our first time in Bali we had hoped for...I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

There was no allowance for cases hence, once placed on the floor, there was no room to move. Bathroom was very small with no natural light and little ventilation. Generally the place needs money spent to bring it up to expectations. One thing in its favour was the restaurant; breakfast facilities were good and right on the beach.

Last year i couldn't come here and went to Tasmania instead. 80's motel rooms for $100-$200 a night, Average hotels and appartments $300-$600 a night, all charging extra for internet. Some exceptions but generally poor and indiffererent service. Put Diwangkara in Lorne, Sorento, Phillip Island NSW, QLD. Upgrade the rooms by $5000 on each. At 300 - $600 a night it would be a bargain..

- Victoria (2/5): Supreme budget - We simply booked this to nap before a red-eye at 2am out of Denpassar. It felt more like a hostel and/or permanent living situation for expats. I knew we were in trouble when the front desk guy asked if we were staying three nights based on the fee I paid via hotels.com. As we were leaving at midnight, our neighbors were watering the plants from third floor as it were. front desk person had a very old woman carry my 50 pound piece of luggage up to the room where she pulled a plate of "fresh" fruit out of the refridgerator. I understand it is the culture, but my stomach upset the entire six hours we were on property and I like to think I am a fairly flexible frequent traveler. NOT RECOMMENDED
- David (2/5): Avoid avoid avoid - Would never go back to Bali again..mainly because of bad experience in this hotel,we stayed 7 nights and the hotel was overpriced,we booked a room and the room was old fashioned and non functional.room in serious need of updating,in fact I'd rip all the dysfunctional and uncomfortable furniture out and start again,air conditioner was loud despite it being good,bathroom old fashioned and smell of sewage emanated from room every morning,tv and stations were good,plugs were in the most difficult of places to use,mini bar was overpriced as was all the food in the restaurant,breakfast came with price and was good but the service was comical,coffee was the worst I have ever tasted in 25 years of hotel use.the best thing about the hotel was the garden,no surprise the gardener won emplyee of the year last year and he'll win it again hands down this year,pool was small but good,beach side area is not private and one gets constantly harassed by hawkers,banana and fruit people and the guys in the lime shirts who annoy the he'll out of you if you show any interest,they are also overpriced and Tip best advice is to take local boat for 10 dollars to lembongan,information desk is a joke .twice we asked for a wake up call..none received,info around lobby is poor ,tip for hotel ..put the taxi drivers outside the hotel as they are extremely annoying and rude..not in the lobby hawking for business...but as I have written this will probably fall on deaf ears...there is also no chance of any food.ie room service once restaurant is closed.beers ordered beachside are very expensive...and always remember that the hotel must add 20 percent to all bills..govt tax.wild dogs occupy the beach front area and are to be generally to be found under the sun loungers...flea ridden and dangerous...keep well away...sun loungers are wooden ,uncomfortable and old fashioned there is a cover from pool boy and free towels...tip....cood beers and delicious corn on the cob can be bought cheaply on the beach at the much cheaper rate.the spa has a neat way of inciticing you in with a free 15 min massage. Avoid the spa as just outside the hotel there is a much cheaper massage and manicure/pedicure shop...about quarter of hotel price.we endured this zero star hotel for 7. Nights....but never again

- L.R. (10/5): Good value for the money really nice little place - This is a very nice little hotel in Sanur. Its clean and the staff are extremely helpful. If you're looking for a 5 star facility - then this isn't the place - but you will be hard pressed to find a comparable place for the money. Breakfast was included and consisted of a full buffet with a very nice selection - and believe me - I like my food and it passed my test. The hotel sits right on the beach and boardwalk. Lots of foliage and garden space to the point that you almost felt that you needed a machete to get to your room - which was actually very nice. The pool (while small) wasn't used but it looked clean and laid out nicely - other guests seemed to enjoy it during the time I stayed there. The rooms were reasonably large with a decent sized bathroom and front porch. The room was clean and confortable and the a/c unit cranked out plenty of cold air - and believe me, with Bali you need that. I used the spa and it was pretty basic - but adequate. For me the question is whether I would want to stay at a particular hotel again - and the answer for this place is a resounding - YES. I didn't know this joint from adam when I booked it and I was simply looking for a cheaper place to stay in Sanur close to the scuba dive shop that I was using for the three days of diving before I shifted to the Bali Conrad at Nusa Dua for some real pampering - and a boatload more money. Maybe these folks at the hotel should pay me for my A+ review - but its the truth. I'm being redundant here - but for the price, its really a neat litlle place.
- Carrie (10/5): Sanur Treasure - We stayed here the night we arrived at the airport after 19 hours of travel from the US. We arrived at the hotel around 1 am (close to airport) and were quickly checked in to a huge room that was very quiet so we could sleep. The breakfast was included and was in a nice garden setting just steps away from the beach. Food was good and service attentive. The hotel is located right on the beach and has a "boardwalk" that you can walk and visit 3 traditional Bali Markets for souveniers as well as see fishing boats or take a trip to Nusa Lombogin (a must! - this is the real Bali you don't want to miss). The best part of this hotel and Sanur is the many CHEAP spa services. We (teenage daughter and I) had two+ hour treatments each including a traditional Balinese massage, full body scrub and then a flower petal bath while being served cool delicious tea at the hotel! This is the way to start a Bali trip! We were so refreshed and relaxed after our long trip getting there. We then hired a driver right at the hotel to take us to a silver factory, batik factory, Hatten Wine ("Cellar Door" - local Bali wine tasting room) and then to drive us all the way to Candidasa - about a 2+ hour drive from Sanur. He drove us around for about 6 hours and we negotiated a payment of $30 US. This hotel has everything you would want in Bali! We will return!
- Paul (8/5): At the end of Sanur - Advantage: The smile of the staff The staff is helpful taxi service and spa inside the hotel Weakness: -Small and dirty swiming pool. -Location at the end of the north of Sanur -white girls in bikini was anoyed by indonesians from the neighbour island. They insisted to take pictures, which was very annoying. -No fun

- Anthony (8/5): Diwangkara Holiday Villa & Spa (Bali) - Excellent location on the beach. Gardens and setting exceptional. Staff and service excellent. Restaurant good with excellent breakfast , dinner good but small choice,drinks expensive. Plenty of other restaurants along the beach. Room basic but clean. Pool small but good. plunge pools excellent.
