• Jonathan (4/5): - DO NOT take a room on the top floor!! Specifically rooms 401/402/403. Risky in rooms 301/302/304. Even the second floor poses its risks of getting no sleep. Although this hotel has a restaurant space on the ground level, they have opted to put the breakfast room on the top (5th) floor. The reasoning is that it has a view of the city and Bosporus, which it does, hidden behind a slough of not-so-pretty rooftops. What they’ve effectively done, however, is sacrificed at least 6 good rooms, for paying guests who want to sleep, in favour of a breakfast room with tiled floors and wooden chairs with nothing to dampen the sound. People, I cannot begin to describe how loud it gets. Although the location is perfect, and the staff mean so well, the no sleep factor makes the Tan Hotel a terrible choice. Also, it you have hotels.com perks, like free drinks at the property, forget about them. There’s no such thing. There’s also a very weird protruding spout in the toilets that, if you sit “wrong” will assault and sully your privates. Lastly, although breakfast is served until 11, please see the pictures of what’s left at 10.

The view from the terrace was pretty good since is partially affected by nearby buildings. This trip truly made me fall in love with Turkey!

The facility needs a serious facelift to attract tourist and not worth the $240 a night!

The room itself was comfortable and the staff were lovely; they would help call taxis, and recommend places to eat. I was kindly upgraded to a bigger room during my stay which was very nice of the staff. My only negatives would be that the phone in my room didn’t work so i wasn’t able to use room service, i used the laundry service but the clothes came back damp (external service the hotel offers) and if you were to stay here i highly recommend you don’t eat in the surrounding area as meals were costing us double what we were paying slightly further out

They even walked us to the cafe they suggested around the corner. Topkapi, the Blue Mosque and Haiga Sofia were only a short walk. The tram was only one block away.

However it is quite a noisy location, bathrooms could do with updating, cleaning could be a bit more thorough small hairs found in bath. Based on reviews and photos we were expecting quite a boutique sort of place. However its about an average or below average type of hotel. Staff sometimes can seem a bit stand offish. Part of expedia gold never got any benefits/upgrades despite mentioning at reception desk when checking in. Its not a bad place but manage your expectation a lot of great reviews can be misleading.

The hotel itself is at the corner of multiple intersections with restaurants all around. Grand bazaar was also under a 10 minute walk away. The staff was helpful when we approached and asked for help. Other than that, they leave you alone. Breakfast at the hotel was a small buffet, mostly selection of assorted cheese and fruit. Some places outdoor offer omelettes, but overall selection is limited for breakfast in the area.

The hotel is so strategically located to Istanbul's top landmarks and 2 minutes away from the tram/trolley that can take you to more places. Lot's of restaurants and shopping nearby. The Gran Bazaar is 10 min away and a lot of Turkish baths are also nearby. The best was soooo comfy and the the bathroom was also very clean and a good size for 1 person and even for 2 people. My only "bad" comment (and it's not even bad because you should be exploring and not sitting in your room) is that there are limited English channels on tv. I like turn the TV on to help me sleep and all I could watch were news channels and some nickelodeon. Will definitely come back to TAN HOTEL when I return to this beautiful city!

The room was comfortable, clean, quiet, and nice to come back to after a day exploring Istanbul. The staff was friendly and offered good options for dining. Overall, we had a great time and Tan Hotel turned out to be a great choice. One word of advice for travelers: DO NOT use ATMs run by Turkish banks. ONLY USE INTERNATIONAL BANKS.

• Tomasz (10/5): Great experience - The place is amazing, centrally located, there are many restaurants around. Lekker is one of them and I would definitely recommend to go there (out of the hotel on the left hand side). If you are planning to stay in Tan hotel definitely visit the restaurant on the top floor and let Ibrahim look after you, he is absolutely amazing. The rest of the staff is also very friendly and helpful.

• Winnie (10/5): - Excellent hotel in a great location in Old Town Faith district. Staff couldn’t be friendlier. Newly refurbished Only criticism would be that the lighting in the room could be better.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location! Clean and good quality hotel. Wonderful breakfast view!. Only gripe, shower was noce but water was cold!! Elevator got stuck and had issues. Beautiful floor to ceiling windows but no screens! A little scsry if you have kids as the windows are fully operable floor to ceiling. Other than that was great! Would definitely book again.
• Mustafa (2/5): - The first night I arrived, the hotel assigned a temporary low grade, annoying and uncomfortable room that did not meet my booking specifications. The room was not ready to accommodate guests due to the following: 1- There was no privacy as the room (which is the only one) placed at the lobby next to the reception. 2- It lacks insulation and hence we were not able to sleep due to the noise from reception, people movements and exit door frequent opening which were all inside our room. 3- It does not reflect the photos in the reservation page of your website and It was a dirty place and lacks normal room services. As a result of the abovementioned issues, the service provided by the hotel violates the reservation specifications mentioned in their website. Additionally, I felt embarrassed and nervous. This resulted in an entire loss of one day of my costly trip.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - View from the penthouse view was stunning and the breakfast buffet was nice, a little different each day. Staff were very welcoming and polite and the cleaning lady was lovely, always replacing our water when it was finished. The location is perfect, so close to the big sites like the blue mosque, hagi sophia and topkapi palace. Will be returning when I visit in the future. If you do get the penthouse, be warned, you will be hearing the seagulls a lot.

This zone is kinda torism attractions if you have limited time i would highly recommend this place, they have such a wonderful rooftop for breakfast. The staff are very kind and helpful. One noticed is the real room facility might not be exactly same as shown in expedia website, you should recheck with the hotel.

• D M (10/5): Great place for a short stopover - Amazing location. We got a free upgrade to a room with a spa bath tub so very grateful. The bathroom is slightly gritty around the edges so could do with a more detailed clean. Breakfast options a bit limited but adequate. Great view of the blue mosque from the top floor restaurant. Beds weee super comfortable and blackout curtains worked a treat. We could hear the prayers but not enough to ruin sleep. So all in all, it’s a great hotel in the heart of the old town! Grand bazaar is maybe 15 minutes walk away and blue mosque is 5 minutes max.
