Guest Reviews
- LARISSA (10/5): - Hotel lindo, com excelente estrutura e quartos confortáveis.
- José Eduardo (10/5): - Todo super bien, muchas gracias.
- Jamie (10/5): Recommended stay in El Calafate - Great hotel with very helpful staff. Would highly recommend.
- Regis (10/5): - It was an excellent stayed at this hotel, beautiful surrounding, the staff where very helpful at all times, the included breakfast was one of the best I've had in hotels around the world, I would definitive stay here again, and recommend it to others.
The only bad thing, I guess it can happen to anyone, is that room service lost my expensive sleeping eye mask, reason for not leaving them any tip in the room.
- Maria (10/5): Great hotel! - This is a great hotel if you are looking for comfort and great service. It is walking distance from the Main Street which is convenient.
- Sam (10/5): - It was an incredible property! Great location! Staff was awesome!!! Highly recommend!
- Mohamed (8/5): - -
- Nancy (10/5): - Wonderful hotel. Fantastic food. Great service!
- Gabriel (8/5): - Was amazing especially given the price. The WiFi in our room on the 3rd floor wasn’t good but everything else was great.
- Tatiana (8/5): - Got double billed after paid in full from Expedia
- Anthony (6/5): Nice hotel but not 5 stars - Pros: Hotel grounds are really nice, room was also nice. Staff also helpful. Breakfast is good.
Cons: Bathroom was worn and tired. Overall the hotel is dated and tired. Probably a 3 star, definitely not 5 star. Had to wait 45 mins for room.
- Ricardo (10/5): - Excelente hotel, servicio y prestaciones. En definitiva muy recomendado
- Viviane (6/5): - A acústica do quarto é horrível. E o hóspede do outro quarto eu conseguia ouvir tossir... Terrívelmente ruim a acústica do quarto.
- Leslie (10/5): - Beautiful property, very accommodating staff, friendly and knowledgeable. We would definitely go again.
- Claudine (10/5): - The staff was beyond excellent all around, very attentive, as well as helpful in navigating our stay in El Calafate. The hotel is beautiful, safe, and very clean. We highly recommend Hotel Posada Los Alamos.
- Anthony (10/5): - Everything was great about the hotel except the restaurant (the one that serves dinner). The food was mediocre, way overpriced, and really, really terrible service. Besides that, I highly recommend this hotel. The massage service at the spa was great and priced very reasonably. The general level of service all-around was good. Excellent buffet breakfast each morning was included and started at 6:30 AM which is great for those with a morning pick-up for excursions. I'd definitely return here and do recommend it, just don't eat dinner at the hotel, it is right in the center of town anyways with plenty of restaurants around.
Ampliamente recomendado si no rentan vehículo.
- Oswaldo (10/5): - Very nice
- DIANA (10/5): Great experience in Calafate - Our stay was great. Super service and very nice hotel. Perfect location!
- Diana (10/5): - The location was amazing, great hotel
- Daniela susana (10/5): - Todo increíble vale completamente la pena
- Flor de Maria (10/5): - I like everything
- Claribel (10/5): - NA
- Fernando (10/5): - Great staff!! , I left my bag they look for me , I left my hot they leek it at front . Great staff make this posada Alamos with a spa and gorgeous hot pool a great option in this wonderful glaciar experience.
- Alejandra Nava (10/5): - Excelente atencion y muy comodo
- Heng (10/5): - Very convenient, walk to everywhere. The environment is amazing surrounding with different birds and lavender. We really enjoyed the stay.
- JOERI (4/5): A 3 stars perhaps but for sure not 4 - Far to be a 4 star hotel. Very basic breakfast and rooms crying to be refurbished !
- ELKIN FABIAN (10/5): - Excellent breakfast.
- RITA (6/5): - The hotel os ok. Needs some updates. Cleaning is ok but not great. Location is good.
- Arnoldo (10/5): - great staff, great location , the spa was just marvelous
- Barbara (10/5): - This seemed like one of the more upscale hotels in El Calafate. The grounds were very pretty, the room was an adequate size and very clean, personnel were very friendly and helpful and the dining room food (breakfast) was very good. Also, hotel was in convenient location to walk to restaurants and shopping. Would definitely recommend.
- John (10/5): - Lovely
- David (8/5): - Tom bathroom shower too small
- Cathy (10/5): - Beautiful facilities with consummate service.
- lauri (4/5): - Only issue was check in. Took a long time as had to scan code and do without assistance
- Miruna (10/5): - Best hotel in El Calafate! Great price-quality ratio, with big rooms and a very generous breakfast. The spa and fitness center are good also. Its a gorgeous looking hotel with very helpful staff thats a must if you stay in the area.
- Bruce (8/5): - Good
- Nelson (6/5): - Room 112. No A/C. No extractor in the toilet. The Room is a fish tank. If you are in the 1 floor near to the sidewalk you have to keep open your window to get fresh air.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location, comfortable beds and nice amenities.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff were very helpful and friendly. Very clean and great location.
The rooms are warm with limited flexibility to open windows.
- robert (8/5): - Service was spotty and slow although pleasant.
Restaurant was not good. Salmon was dry, trout inedible. Salad was boring. Bread was good. Breakfast buffet was more than adequate. We were four couples in total. There was a significant difference in our rooms. Not sure how or why as we all paid the same,. I suggest you request a renovated room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Windows needed to be open to let site circulate. Birds were loud at night with windows open.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great property in the cute town of El Calafate. Walking distance to town and great breakfast! Would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is very high standard accommodation. A large by Patagonian standards but doesn' t lose the personal touch. Staff in all areas are very pleasant and helpful, and make you feel welcome. Reception staff ( especially the gentleman there most days with the lovely smile) were particularly helpful. Our room was very comfortable & spacious, heating could be adjusted by turning radiator on & off (important in Patagonia where hotels tend to be over-heated) and the window opened. Hotel had an excellent location just a few minutes from town centre ( or the lake, in the other direction, and a few minutes along the road were several really good mid-range restaurants.
But book early - this hotel sells out quickly as a number of tour groups seem to use it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - good location, good restorant, good atention, excellent hotel!!"
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful hotel. Clean rooms. Excellent staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We will return.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel didn't quite hit the mark for us. Whilst the communal areas are spacious and very comfortable our room was ok but there was an unpleasant smell from a drain in the bathroom floor. We did report this and some action was taken in minimise the problem but it was never fully eradicated.
The hotel is in a great location and the external grounds were beautifully kept.
The bar staff were really friendly and we must say a special thank you to Emma for the excellent service always delivered with a smile despite the language barrier.
- Thomas (10/5): - Spent 4 nights at Los Alamos. Great place and location. Breakfast was outstanding! The staff was so polite and always helping you out
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This property felt more like a 2-star lodge, vs a 4-star hotel.
-The grounds, common areas and location are very lovely and 4-star level. Breakfast was decent.
-But the rooms and service were quite the opposite. Very dated, not very clean. The walls are paper thin so you can hear everything in surrounding rooms, including people using their bathrooms. It felt more like a dormitory or lodge, vs a hotel.
-My initial room had broken radiators leaking brown liquid and could not be turned off to eliviate the very warm temperature. It also had large bugs everywhere, (after the front desk snapped at me and said there were no bugs.)
-They moved me to a new room with 2 twin beds, of which one collapsed down when I laid on it.
-The staff was very cold to me when I shared my frustrations. There was also loud music playing from the golf club building that echoed throughout the entire resort. When I asked how long the music would last the gentlemen at tbe front desk said till midnight and then sharply said, “just wear ear plugs.”
I was traveling solo, keeping to myself and felt the treatment from the staff was cold. With the exception of the gentlman who checked me in. I wish he had been working the entire time. Iwas in tears the second night from the harsh interaction with the desk staff. I have never posted a negative review but the lack care from the staff with the issues I experienced and did not create, was very upsetting and left a lasting, negative impression.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Asador and el Pampa
Best lamb in Patagonia
Right st hotel restaurant
- Acadia (10/5): - It felt historic yet impeccably maintained. Rooms were comfortable, the lobby and entrance welcoming. The building that houses the spa and restaurant is gorgeous.
- Ireneli (6/5): - Nice central hotel
Stayed there 10 years ago and was great!
This stay fund it very dated.
Good helpful desk staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A nice hotel with a superb restaurant!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - My flights was delayed and and so I never stayed there. It looks great but I won't ever know.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic, charming ,excellent service , the place is in a quiet zone, I liked it very much
- Andrew (8/5): Solid hotel with friendly staff and nice spa - About 5mins from the main street of El Calafate. The hotel has the feeling of a log cabin, which excellent spa-swimming facilities. The hotel is spread over 2 sites, opposite each across the road. Friendly staff and a nice place to stay for 1-3 days. Solid 4 star hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Walking distance to restaurants, Lago Argentino, museo Centro de interpretacion
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nicest hotel in town. Food was really good in Restaurant. Staff was helpful. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxccc xxxx xxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxcccccc
- Beverly (4/5): Beauty is only skin deep! - The exterior of the complex is lovely. Great landscaping and area is lovely. The rooms are very basic - the bathrooms are tiny. The “free WiFi” continuously got cut out. Very disappointing!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Needs a facelift - I stayed at this hotel as it was the launching point for a vacation. However, my room (385) was not clean, the room was exceptionally hot even with the windows open and the constant noise from traffic and other guests prevented a restful sleep. I would not want to stay here unless I brought a fan to cool down the room.
- annie (10/5): Lovely setting close to town - The staff were extremely efficient and friendly .
Thank you
- Private (10/5): Friendly, capable staff, clean, good food - Overall an excellent experience. Good staff, professional, helpful. Beautiful grounds. Very nice décor, rooms clean, etc.
Only one problem is the wifi was slow.
- Ben (8/5): Wonderful hotel, great location - Myself and two coworkers stayed there during a weekend trip to Calafate. It was in a really great location, walking distance to everything you need. Breakfast was good, the hotel staff was fantastic (very welcoming), rooms were good enough for what we needed. Highly recommend.
- Ana I (8/5): Great location - This is a beautiful property and conveniently located. Beautiful lobby area, spacious and clean. Friendly staff. Too bad bedrooms are small and as I had read, a bit noisy considering residential neighborhood nearly, could hear dog barkings in early mornings. Bathrooms are small and a bit unconfortable. But if I had to go again, I would pick this hotel because of it's proximity to town, airport and shopping, all within walking distance.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Surprisingly well run for the back of beyond - Good clean facility with competent friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A great hotel very well located in the center. The facilities are outstanding, the rooms are rustic on the small size. The new Hummus Bar Restaurant has a great ambiance and outstanding food and service.
The breakfast is superb a bit on the sweet side.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotel but noisy - Had to change rooms due to early morning noise at front of hotel so we were downgraded to a small room
- Verified traveler (4/5): Hotel abut dated - Pretty setting but it all goes away when you get to the room. Needed re painting, internet did not work in room, incredibly hot with all heat turned off. Opening windows to get air just lets the noisiest street inside. I would not choose rhis again.
- cologirl (8/5): El Calafate vacation - The hotel, the breakfast., the location , the pool all are great. The staff was always friendly and they speak both. English and Spanish. I forgot a cell phone on the bus and had to deal with non English speaking travel agency. The staff immediately took over and helped me to call the agency. They found my cell phone in the end!!! Very nice hotel, I would recommend to anybody.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A great location in Patagonia near the Glaciers. - Located near the center of El Calafate and we drove an hour to the Perito Moreno Glacier which was truly amazing.
- Michele (10/5): Large hotel with central location - Posada Los Alamos was a great hotel. It was larger than we realized, but it had a really homey feel and the staff was very attentive. The front desk helped with anything we asked for - from calling us a taxi to calling car rental places to find an available car. The pool and sauna areally wonderful ways to relax, especially if you have just finished a long hike! Breakfast had a nice selection. Plus, the hotel is within walking distance of the bus station and plenty of shops and restaurants.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Noisy stay - The exterior, lobby and grounds of this hotel are beautiful but the rooms are dated and small. As a light sleeper, I got very little sleep due to thin walls, slamming doors, banging pipes, barking dogs, mufflerless cars/motorcycles. We stayed two nights due to a flight cancellation and so was in two different rooms and had the exact same noisy experience in both. Only book if you are a deep sleeper or have noise cancelling devices.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient location, nice hotwl - Great location; hotel is one of the best in the area, great facilities
- Luis (8/5): Nice Hotel, good restaurant - Nice facilities, not so professional staff. Good location
- Grace (10/5): It is extremely cozy and comfortable. - It is one of the best and most ideal hotel for vacation. The hotel is very convenient, walking distance from the downtown of El Cafarate, away from the noisy street. The hotel is surrounded by tall trees and golf court, very very green and quiet. The hotel room is very clean and toilet is spacious, with bath and shower. The breakfast is reasonable, and good. Hotel staff is very friendly. Even if we do not dine at the cafeteria, they provide hot water. The decoration inside the hotel is very tasteful. Internet connectivity is excellent, in comparison to other hotels in Argentina. I would highly recommend this hotel to my friends. Good value for money.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I would like to preface this review by stating i've stayed at 5 star hotels and econo lodges so I hope this just comes of as honest and not as stuck up or snooty. We stayed during the peak of summer in Patagonia - doesn't get super hot, but some days it's pretty hot. There's no AC or fans in the rooms. Only way to cool of the room is to open the window - that wouldn't be so bad but there are no screens in the rooms so bugs would fly in the room at night and my wife actually woke up coughing because something flew into her mouth. The bathrooms were kinda gross. Spiders in the bathtub and water bugs in the toilet.
In all fairness, the free breakfast buffet was pretty good and hotel is well located close to everything else. If we were to go back, I would try to find a better hotel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Incredibly bad room and bed. - Worst bait and switch on a room in recent memory. Prepaid and emailed a month ahead of time for queen bed. Was actually given something smaller than American double bed. Room was tiny, almost unbearably small for two normal sized (if tall) adults, with a paper thin walls so we could hear the person at the adjacent headboard coughing all night. Tiny and illogical bathroom setup (6 inch deep railing and low shower head so one crouches while rubbing against the curtain). Front desk offered to switch rooms to the one I actually paid for...second and last night of stay on our way out to a dinner reservation. I passed on that as an hour of repacking was too much to ask. Hotel grounds are nice and the property has good curb appeal. Breakfast was mediocre at best (worst we had during 3 weeks in Argentinas best hotels). Last time using hotels.com and definitely do not recommend this property for value or luxury travelers.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not even close.. - This hotel is very appealing from the lobby, and the property is very green and lush. That's why I was so surprised to find that the room I was given looked out on a dirt lot where three of the town's many free-roaming dogs were congregating. Since there was no air conditioning, the window would have had to stay open all night. I went back downstairs and asked for another room. The second room faced a more appealing part of the property, but was very small. There was no outlet to charge my phone so I had to get down onto the ground, pull out the tv stand and unplug the tv to use that outlet. Even so, my phone did not charge well. The bathroom sink had no counter on which to place any toiletries, and the only shelf available was so small, that when I tried to pull out the soap, the towel fell into the bidet below the shelf. The furniture was very outdated and scratched, of donation quality.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Exceptional staff with service mindset - Nice big hotels with good facilities, 2 blocks fron the main shopping street and great breakfast. The staff, especially Jessica, went an extra mile to help me with a trouble I had with the tour agency. I really appreciated her help with sincere willingness and understanding from what I could observe.
- Richard VanderHorst (8/5): Great hotel in El Calafante - Stayed in El Calafante to join a trekking group in Patagonia. The rooms were comfortable and pleasant. They had a workout facility and beautiful grounds.
- Richard (10/5): El Calafante superior location - Stayed there for one night before starting our Patagonian trekking adventure. Neat, clean, well maintained. Nice restaurant and workout facilities.
- david (4/5): I don't recommend this hotel. - Hotel facilities is excellent but not worth for the price.
Though I made a booking through Expedia, hotel staff didn't find my name. Also, tour agent did let the concierge know the time of pick up for the tour, but there is no appropriate communication within the staff and I haven't heard from them....
Terrible..z
- Max (2/5): disappointed - I have no idea how their rating is as I high as I read. This is a 2-3 star hotel, not a 4 star. It is tried with weak service.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice & quaint hotel with good location - Needs better, more friendly & helpful staff.
Breakfast buffet was very good
- Isabel (8/5): Nice hotel. We would go back. - We spent two nights. The hotel is in a very convenient location, so we were able to walk around town when we got there. No main complains or issues.
It is kind of odd that the pool is in a separate building from where the rooms are, you need to cross a street to get there. I don't think there is much they can do about it now, but a warning would be nice. We loved going to the pool and relax after our big walk on the Perito Moreno Glacier. We also got a massage. My husband really liked his, I didn't like mine so much which makes me think that it really depends on who you get and not so much on the place you get it. We got our "lunch box" from the hotel for our hike in the Perito Moreno and we thought it was OK.
- Kristopher (8/5): Nice location; great staff - The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the center of town. We stayed in November, so the weather was warm. The hotels have radiators for heat, but no air conditioning or fans. Ask to stay on the second level or higher. The trick everyone uses is to have their blinds closed and windows open. The windows do not have screens, but bugs were not a problem. Since the hotel sits a 10 minute walk from town you can sleep with the window open and not hear any noise.
When the hotel is busy, the WiFi can get very, very slow. There are 3 computers in the hotel lobby that you can use and the network connection is faster. There is no printer, but the staff is very nice. If you save what you print as a PDF you can e-mail it to them and they will print it for you.
Since the flight for our last day was at 3:30 PM we were able to extend our checkout to 1:00 PM. The staff checked our bags at the front desk and ordered us a taxi for 2:00 PM. We had exactly enough time to walk into town, get lunch, come back, and hop in the taxi to the airport.
- Notallthatwanderarelost (10/5): Cosy retreat in good location - Just excellent. From the welcome and nothing is too much trouble attitude of the staff, extremely comfortable rooms, the fantastic leisure facilities to the varied breakfast this hotel was perfect for our needs. The other real benefit of this hotel is it is just two streets back from the Main Street, so close enough to walk yet far enough away to have little traffic and street noise.
- RLM (10/5): Great Place - Wonderful hotel with friendly staff and very accommodating to our needs for a late checkout
El Calafate is a great place to visit in the winter....breathtaking!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice surprise - We travelled with two young kids (4 and 6 yrs). We found the location of the hotel to be excellent (an easy walk to the main tourist strip (restaurants, shops) and the hotel ground and facilities were great (green space for the kids to run around, heated pool, cosy hotel restaurant across the road). Will definitely recommend it to all our friends!!
