Guest Reviews
- Hans (10/5): Hotel Garibaldi Naples - Hotel Garibaldi Naples is a delightful choice for travellers who wish to be close to the heart of the city. The staff were warm, welcoming, and always ready with advice about local restaurants and transport. The rooms, while not overly large, were spotless and well maintained, with comfortable beds and fresh linen daily. Breakfast offered a good mix of pastries, coffee, and fruit, setting a pleasant tone for the day. The location, near the station, makes it very convenient, though a little busy at times. Overall, it’s an excellent balance of value, hospitality, and authentic Neapolitan atmosphere.
- Simon (8/5): - Facility is okay, it is close to central train station and metro.
- Abraham Fernando (8/5): Fair good nearby hotel - Fair stay, excellent staff made my life easier at every moment. Great breakfast and all in all fair to what you pay. WiFi is poor, no elevator and a little bit noisy through the day, at night quiet enough to catch some sleep. No complains though. All is bearable. Great location btw local markets around and nearby to a key metro station to go basically anywhere. I liked it in general. Hot water, you have to wait a little for it to be heated but it comes at some point and the shower is not fit for people with big butts.
- Francesco (8/5): - Tutto ottimo.
- Manfred (8/5): - all ok
- Aleksandra (8/5): Reasonable stay in city centre - When we walked from train station the streets have lots of rubbish and homeless people and lots of police. It’s like any big European city. Never felt bothered. Next to hotel there are street vendors.
Hotel itself was nice, rooms were spacious, a bit of street noise. All the staff were friendly. The breakfast was good as well.
- Neha (10/5): - Such good value for money. The night staff was very kind and helpful. I think his name was alberto, he was an older gentlemen but he helped us so much and made our stay bery relaxing. Thank you and we will be sure to visit again because of him.
- Noesli (2/5): Worst hotel - Hotel is not as seem on the pictures. There is no elevator at all. Hotel seems so sketchy.
- Hussein (6/5): - The air conditioning is not good.
- Antonio (10/5): - I’m the center of Napoli
- Dafydd (10/5): - bathroom toilet leaking when flushing
- Salem (10/5): - Good
- Jeff (10/5): - Staff was friendly. Helped us when Expedia had canceled our reservation for some reason. I suggest not to look out the balcony to the back ally. Some very bad activity but some stories to bring home. The city of Naples is not clean. Nothing to do with the property but just not nice area like Rome. It was nice that they didn’t rush us out at check out time.
- Izabela (10/5): - The hotel is close to the central train station. No lift is a serious downside.
- Michele (8/5): Clean, humble staff, cute hotel - Hotel was clean and tidy, hotel staff were very helpful and humble. Cannot fault the hotel for a basic stay, value for money.
Unfortunately, the area outside and around has become a dirty third world country due to immigrants on the streets. Homeless everywhere, human faces on pavements. They have ruined a beautiful historic part of the city.
- Bethan (4/5): Would not stay again, staff ripped us off. - Would not stay again. The walls were so thin so we could hear conversations in the rooms next door and the noise of people moving along the corridors. But the biggest let-down at the hotel was when reception staff ripped us off and charged us 50 Euro for a taxi to the airport, but the taxi driver informed us it was only a 20 Euro charge. We booked through reception as we thought this was a reliable way to arrange our airport transfer, but was amazed when the taxi driver was staggered at how badly we'd been deliberately overcharged. Very unhappy, and would not stay with such untrustworthy people again.
Scarsa. Nota positiva è stata il personale, efficace.
- Melvin (6/5): - Luidruchtige kamer, vieze rommelige beurt, wel kortbij centraal station
- Srinivas (2/5): - Air condition was not working.
- Maria (8/5): - This was an ok hotel 10 minutes walk from the central railway station. Staff was super friendly and helpful. There is no elevator in the hotel but they do have a porter that carries your bags up the stairs. Wifi access is poor. It’s walking distance from a mini supermarket and a good pizza spot across the street, Pizza Fortuna.
- Elisabetta (2/5): napoli scorretti - molto scorretti .
molto scorretti MAI PIU?
- Imogen (10/5): - Excellent hotel, great location
- Daniel (8/5): Exactly what I expected - The hotel is as advertised. It's a cute little hotel near the train station. I'd stay here again.
- Miloslav (8/5): Good for long weekend stay - The basic hotel close to the transport lines with 24/7 reception (easy access from late flights), very good breakfast and clean room. Post stay luggage service is possible.
Not very nice environment outside of the hotel, but where in Naples you can find place without rubbish and graffiti?
- Chad (8/5): Unique and Convenient. - We enjoyed this hotel for what was a needed....a place to sleep & shower. There is convenient parking in front of the hotel. driving in Napoli is crazy, so rest assured if you are driving there or have a car rental for your amalfi coast drive -- that the parking is CONVENIENT. we are a middle class american family so the area was definitely interesting but we were not worried as the people were friendly. this is not a luxury stay but the building is super cool and we enjoyed the atmosphere, also close to the airport. STAIRS STAIRS STAIRS...bad knees beware.
- Indrek (2/5): Do not go there - We booked 2 rooms, 1 double and 1 triple room. When we arrived they put us in 1 room with 5 beds. We didn't agree but they weren't cooperative. We asked to pay us some money back because we didn't get 2 rooms like we booked. They didn't do that. They said you can leave if you want. The room where they putted in was ja double room with 5 beds in because in the room there was only 2 thing of everything (exept the beds). I recommend not to go to this place. Car parking is in front of hotel in paid parking lot (20€ a night). Breakfast was okey. Other than that - horrible experience.
- lichong (6/5): - The room is too small to walk around the beds. After checking out, we asked to store our luggages, they just leave them on corner of front desk in open space. Besides, the breakfast is not much of choice. The street of outside this Hotel is unbelievable dirty and chaos. You almost thought you're in Third World Country.
- Anna Linda (10/5): A pleasant and friendly stay! - The staff was very friendly, beds comfortable, everything was very clean and breakfast very good. We always got water and the man responsible for the breakfast always gave our sons some buns to eat during the day. A super friendly employee:)
- Francesco (10/5): - Posizione strategica.... pulita... camere spaziose.. complimemti
- Davide (8/5): - zona molto comoda
- Stevie (8/5): -
- Jacqueline (8/5): Good hotel, but unsafe location - Nice staff and decent standard room. However, the area is super shady - we felt safe inside, but not in the street during the night.
Very close to Da Michele pizzeria :-)
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly staff. Close to train .front desk staffed 24/7, very nice and clean
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lack of lift was disappointing.
Great location and very pleasant and helpful staff.
- Robin C. (2/5): Worst vrbo experience ever - Reservations made months in advance and confirmed 2 weeks in advance adding 1 additional person. No room available when we got there to check in. Sent to another hotel in what felt like an abandoned building being remodeled 1 room at a time. 3 keys to get in and out to a 1st floor room which looked like a dormitory room. At which point I contacted vrbo who contacted hotel Garibaldi. A return call to me with a confirmation number assuring us a room if we returned to hotel Garibaldi. Still no room. Escorted to another hotel which was acceptable since I had been traveling more than 24 hours. If you don't speak Italian hotel Garibaldi will hang up on you. The quality suite hotel was the building with 3 locked doors to get through and no one in reception area. Hotel Garibaldi worst experience.
- Fay (8/5): Naples September 2018 - The city of Naples was under restoration and the traffic, noise and area condition was not accountable to the hotel or staff. The closeness to accessible transport was good although it was currently distressing sometimes. The room was good and internet connection worked well. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful they were wonderful. The only let down was there elevator was not easily accessible as I didn’t like stairs. The breakfast eating area was small and hot which became overcrowded very quickly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very pleasant stay. Close to train station and centre of town.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hotel Close to Train Station - The hotel was average and nice enough for one night. It's close to the Naples Train Station.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Spend the money and stay elsewhere - heat was controlled by the management. Heat was turned off from 2400 to 7 am..........and 9 am to 7 pm. It was cool and raining, which made it very uncomfortable in the room
it's a non smoking hotel; however, the front desk personnel constantly smoked at the desk and the smoke came to the 2nd floor.
internet did not work two of the four days during my visit. manager didn't get it repaired.
the gentlemen told me that check out was 11 or 1130 and my reservation stated check out was 12 oclock
there are nicer hotel in the area.............spend the money and stay elsewhere is the service is poor.
the smoking is horrible
- Verified traveler (8/5): .enjoyable - The hotel is o.k. nice, clean and for our needs was comfort. there are 2 thigs that made it a little bit un comfort is the lack of elevator and mini-bar .
- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean, nice hotel in a not so nice neighbourhood - A nice clean hotel in a not so great area.
There is no elevator and a lot of stairs so was difficult getting bags up and down.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice little hotel in a great location for doing day trips around Italy eg close to train stations and short walk to ferries. It was frustrating as we did need a hotel with wi-fi during our trip to do some organising and it didn't work for half the time. (chose garibaldi as it did say it had wi-fi) other then that staff were great! room was all we needed as was only there to sleep
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient location close to train station - Unfortunately, the train station area has become less and less appealing as timegoes by. However, Hotel Gribaldi continues to provide convenient and safe accommodations which mae connections very easy an convenient. There is no air conditioning which can be an issue for summer months, and the bathrooms have small shower stalls for those who are larger, this could prove an issue. There is no elevator, but th staff happily carries ages upstairs, and make every effort to accommodate guests. Breakfast is good and is in a nice small room which is bright and hcheerful.
- CHRIS (10/5): Help full Owner - The desk clerk and owner were most helpful .Breakfast was very good . I would stay again If I get the chance. When you stay their say hello to Garibaldi.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Bare minimum - This is a place to sleep. Teeny bedroom and bathroom. Dank smell. No elevator. Awful breakfast. Noisy congested area. Air conditioner worked thank goodness!! Nice staff. Good location.
- Verified traveler (4/5): OK place, check for bugs - Thought the hotel was adequate until we found a live bedbug in the bed on our second night. Still suffering from the bites . We advised mangement then left in a hurry!
- Nicholas (6/5): All good - Hotel is very nice and conveniently located opposite the train station and the bus stop from the airport. Only a short walk to the sights. The Garibaldi back streets are somewhat 'characterful', not the place to walk around after midnight.
- Stuff357 (8/5): Weekend Get Away - Great location for public transportation. Room was clean. Very noisey so I couldn't sleep. Recommend replacing shuttles and windows
- Verified traveler (8/5): First time in Naples - Great visit. Staff very helpful and arranged to take us to Pompeii and back to Rome for departure.
- Patrice (8/5): good place for one night - We stay only one night and we have past a very good night. The only bad think this the fact you don't find any elevator to go on the upper stage.
The Hotel is situate in the old part of Naples. I don't know if it will be sure at night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): good hotel for one night - excellent hotel pour une nuit. près des gares. personnels courtois et serviables.
- Stephen (8/5): Close to Station with friendly staff - We chose the Garibaldi because it is conveniently located near Naples' train and bus stations (w/ airport transfers). The best part about the hotel was the staff: friendly and accommodating desk clerks and a delightful breakfast hostess who provided surprisingly good coffee options in the morning (e.g. fresh espresso w/ whipped cream). The neighborhood is rough and like much of Naples is littered with trash, but the hotel is great with a decent price.
- Phil (6/5): A reasonable choice for a short stay in Naples! - The hotel is modest, but well managed and clean; a practical solution for a short stay. Rooms & bathrooms are not too large, but ok. They do not have elevators and you will have to work the stairs, two flights in our case. The hotel seems to be secure & rooms have safe boxes, but it is located in a very popular & crowded neighborhood (across from the main train station and surrounded by street-vendors and typical street activities & shops): you better be attentive to your surrounding. Even so, it is a good choice for a short stay, if you are practical and want to save time, specially if it is your first visit to Naples and you want to be in the center of the city, in order to get acquainted to distances, transportation & main attractions. The Wifi connection worked fine all the time!
- Joe (2/5): Reservation was lost - I never got to stay at this hotel since they lost my reservation. The downgraded me to another local hotel. Overall I was very dissatisfied.
- Michael (10/5): Hotel Garabaldi - Easy to get to by Rail, Bus and Metro, a family run hotel whose staff were very friendly and helpful at all times
- Kathryn (10/5): Fantastic hotel... - Wonderful hotel with very friendly, happy staff. The continental breakfast was lovely with a street view to watch the hustle and bustle of the market set up. The taxi service was fantastic, although a little on the expensive side, it was well worth the money. We were dropped off and picked up to all the main attractions of this wonderful city. The staff are always willing to help with restaurant choices and had a great rapport with their guests as there are only 18 rooms. The cleaning staff were great and we loved towel animals that we were greeted with every afternoon upon our return.
- KW Stephens (6/5): - Very enjoyable - weather very good and easy to get about. Had a couple of tours - first class. Otherwise, no problems
- 8utter (10/5): Pleasant Surprise!!! - It's very close to the Napoli train stations for both Roma and Pompeii; neighborhood is a little messy; however, the rooms are remodeled - very nice and clean, modern and refreshing!!! What a pleasant surprise to us if only looking at the outside of the building. Very friendly and helpful hotel staff. Definitely would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quaint and nice hotel - Arriving to hotel was easy and walking distance from train station.
In an alley way a bit hidden. In the heart of city but not the best area.
Still it was not unsafe once you get to know area you realize many areas
are the same. Hotel is clean, nice and rooms are clean. Beds are comfortable
and the service is good. It does have a continental breakfast. Family owned business.
The owner and family is very hospitable and friendly. They drove us around to areas
around city and outside of city. Yes, we would return despite the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Hotel in a not-so-great area - We stayed here because of its proximity to the train station. The hotel was great. Very clean, friendly staff, and nice breakfast in the morning. Naples is a rough town, and around the train station is not pleasant. There is a low-end street market right outside the hotel which makes getting to the hotel unpleasant with suitcases. But once inside, we enjoyed our one-night stay.
- MaggieLissu (8/5): Good setting off point for a trip to southern Italt - A great place to arrive tired and in bad weather, the hotel was warm, clean and comfortable and gave good directions as to where to go to eat.
- Trice (6/5): - I enjoyed the location and I also loved the bed it was so comfortable compared to the last hotel we stayed in that was in Naples also
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ah - Napoli's Hotel Garibaldi - Fantastic location across the piazza from the Central station and less than 2 km from Via Roma (tourist shopping area). Local market stalls set up outside the hotel around 9am but leave a mess when they finish. The area is quiet at night and we felt safe walking around. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are a bit small and there is no lift.
- Robert (6/5): Good for short stays - Given the busy location our room (facing a courtyard) was nice and quiet. The hotel, whilst being a little tired overall, was clean and tidy. However when we were there a flea market was operating right outside on the street, making getting to the hotel a bit of an obstacle course. In the evening the mess left by the market was shocking - for a picture imagin a post apocalyptic type street scene. that aside the hotel was definatly a pleasant place to get to considering Naples really isn't a place to stay more than one night.
- DanaQ (8/5): If you're a heavy sleeper.... - This hotel is very nice, has very helpful staff, is very clean, and is a great deal price-wise for a 3-star hotel. The only problem is the location: it is located on a street that has a lot of night noise and traffic and it is impossible to keep the windows open and manage to sleep through it all. The area around the Naples train station is also less picturesque than around say Rome or Florence train stations--it can be a bit rough looking, there are a lot of tables selling goods that generate trash that tends to accumulate in the street, and there is a ton of construction that makes pedestrian crossing an endeavor. This place is good for people without children or people who want a nicer hotel for a cheap price who won't be put-off by the location. I would recomend the hotel anyday, but personally, if I were going back to Naples, I would choose another location to stay that is more tourist-friendly/quieter.
- Sarah (6/5): Hmmmmm....could have been better - Firstly, everyone needs to be aware that this is a "smoking" hotel. Smoking was permitted in all rooms and corridors which was a problem for us as we do not smoke. Our first room was quite malodorous but the second was better. The location of this hotel is reflected in the rates which are excellent. The station area in any city is never going to be the best and it was fine here in Naples. There were lots of easy take away food places and a couple of great restaurants too.
The room was basic and we were not given a twin room (as requested in our booking) on the first night but they moved us to a twin the next day. Having been in the hospitality industry for a long time I have to say that one thing I absolutely HATE in hotel rooms is hair - especially short black curly hair. There was hair all over the bathroom in the first room and in the second room there was some too, though not as much. The cleaning was definitely not up to standard. The bathrooms had a strange sort of odour too.
On a positive, I have to say that the young gentlemen at the front desk (Dia and another whose name I don't know) were fabulous and very very helpful.
Hotel Wifi is only really available right next to the stairs or near the front desk...definitely not in the room we were in. They front desk guys were kind enough to let us sit in the breakfast room to use it. There was a free wifi link (probably owned by some poor schmuck) because this was accessable (and used) by us all.
Don't know if I would go back.
- Troy (4/5): Decent hotel, terrible neighborhood - The hotel itself is ok. The staff was friendly and helpful--they let us store our luggage the second day so we could tour the sites. We were also greeted by "Garibaldi"--the hotel's cockerspaniel mascot. The room was rather small and it had an odor to it, but it sufficed for one night stay. The area--in fact the entire town--we found to be very dirty and full of trash. Not impressed at all! Bottom line--if you have to be in Naples we would recommend this hotel, we just wouldn't recommend going to Naples!
- Anonymous (6/5): Good value - The hotel is located very conveniently in the center of Naples, and admist the noisy and not-so-clean streets all around it, the place itself is clean and friendly. The hotel's staff can help you park your car in a car park pretty near by. Must be mentioned, they could do a little better with the breakfast they supply, although it's pretty standard considering the price.
- Mark (10/5): Great city, great hotel and friendly staff - We stayed at the Hotel Garibaldi for one night and could not have asked for more. The hotel is close to the railway station and therefore also has great access to the airport via the bus. We had read some negative reports about the area but we though that it was fine. There were no unsavoury types it was just buzzing with activity until lunch time when everything goes to sleep.
The staff here were incredible, spoke perfect english and were able to give us any information we required including great restaurant and food recommendations. They obviously know their city very well and are proud to tell visitors about Naples.
The room was great, it was clean, neat and fairly modern with a great shower and air conditioning. The bed was also quite comfortable. For the price we could not have asked for anything more and therefore would highly recommend a stay here.
- Ashley (10/5): Had a great time. - Location looks a little scary but we did not see or have any problems at all. All staff spoke good English and were very polite and helpfull. Room was clean and comfortable and the Hotel was across the Piazza from the main Rail Stn. and round the corner from the Stn. for Herculanium and Pompeii. We had a great stay at Hotel Garibaldi and will definitley stay there again.
- Anonymous (8/5): Good size room and large bathroom. - Good size room and large bathroom. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was bread / croissants with juice and coffee. Unfortunately, road was being dug up during our stay (not the hotel's fault!) so was quite noisy outside during day. Very close to central station and short walk from pretty old part of Naples. Stayed with a female friend and felt safe walking to hotel from Piazza Garibaldi at night, although others may not. Would stay there again.
- Lori (10/5): excellent hotel - This hotel has a central location. the train and central station is across the street. Numerous restaurants and shops nearby for excellent pasta and ice cream. environment is busy and exciting out side the hotel. local flea market everyday with great buys on everything. hotel staff are very accomadating for suggestions. the breakfast was good pastries and coffee very tasty. quiet and clean rooms. balcony rooms are the best to look out over the busy street would return
- T (8/5): Very pleasantly surprised! - Really an excellent base for exploring Naples, as it is neat and tidy, very affordable, and very close to the Station. We arrived very late at night due to flight delays, and the front desk was friendly and assisted us without hassles. My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised.
