Twenty minute walk from gare de Lyon, and 15 minutes or less to Notre Dame. NOT a touristy area. Elevator is VERY small, but that is typical. Would absolutely stay here again.

The hotel was in a great location of the Marais, quiet and a quick walk to Sully Moreland Metro stop. There are some nice choices for breakfast and even a hotel option which is fair. I thought it was a little too expensive for what was available but if you need your breakfast to be quick then it will do. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning was working well when we were there. All of the staff were wonderful and more than willing to assist you beyond the normal check in check out. If traveling ever again with 8 of our family members, this is a hotel I would recommend. The rooms were quiet and a decent size for Paris.

- Maps33257 (10/5): Charming boutique hotel in Le Marais - Charming boutique hotel in Le Marais We just returned from a 6 night stay (June 20/27) at the charming Hotel Saint-Louis Marais. Eleven months ago we reserved the top floor room 402. This included the shuttle service (Mercedes Benz mini van) for the ride to Charles de Gaulle airport. We paid extra for the shuttle ride to the hotel, which is well worth it. Upon arrival we were nicely greeted by the concierge Jana. He advised that the air conditioning system had stopped working three weeks ago and that they were not expecting to have it fix for several weeks. The AC specialists had yet to locate the refrigeration gas leak in the walls. Jana provided our room with two fans, which helped a little. Last week was very hot and humid in Paris, so our room was very hot at night (averaging 28 Celsius). We had to keep the window open when we were in the room. With the heat and the street noise, we averaged about 3 to 4 hours of sleep per night. For the inconvenience, they gave us free breakfast and bottles of water for our entire stay. Our room was very parisien charming with the gable ceiling, old roof beams and beautiful tiled floor. The room was very clean and well appointed. The hotel is located in a beautiful area of Le Marais and is close to metro/bus lines, bars, bistros, restaurants, île Saint-Louis and île de France. The stone cave like breakfast room is delightful. The continental breakfast included, French baked goods, assortment of charcuterie/cheese, yogurts, fresh fruits, fruit salad, fruit juices and coffee. All three concierges; Jana, Sylvain and Amin were a pleasure to deal with. They all possess great inter personal skills. They were friendly, patient, professional and very attentive to our needs. They provided great assistance with respect to public transport directions and recommended nearby restaurants. Make sure you try “Le Temps des Cerises” bistro, which is steps away from the hotel. We went three times as we liked it so much. We highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return only if they could reassure us the air conditioning system is fixed. Marc and Lynn

- L2508ZXterim (4/5): Cannot recommend - Cannot recommend this place. While clean and the bathrooms are nice, one of the pillows was hard and the air conditioning was not working when it was 90 F in Paris. The AC was not working for 3 days before we arrived, and no notification was given (not that we would have been able to find another place). And while fans were provided, the customer service to accommodate the lack of AC was poor. The breakfast is not worth the additional price. The hotel, while in a quite neighborhood, it is far from any interesting points in Paris.

- marriott (10/5): - We stayed in room 10, which is the largest of the rooms - it is on the ground floor, near reception, and we were concerned that it would be noisy. It was not, and we loved the spaciousness of the room. The location of this hotel is a perfect starting point for a walking day in Paris. Reception was super friendly and helpful. Use their airport shuttle!

- LindaLouBirmingham (10/5): Great boutique hotel at a great price! - This was our second time to stay at the St. Louis Marais, which has 12 charming rooms with modern renovations. We love it and highly recommend it to anyone coming to Paris who wants an excellent boutique-hotel experience at an extremely reasonable price. Room 102 is on the floor (first floor in France) above reception with a view onto the quiet street. The room is small, but the bathroom is great with a huge shower. It’s the only room we’ve slept in. The buffet breakfast in the basement “cave” is excellent and charming. The best part of the hotel is the day manager, Sylvain, whom we’ve had the pleasure of knowing and dealing with for three years. He’s kind, friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. If you’re planning to visit Paris, I highly recommend you email Sylvain directly (marais@saintlouis-hotels.com) to make your reservation. He can also arrange airport pickup with the hotel driver. He answers our myriad of questions, makes call for us, and is generally an excellent concierge. When we arrived at the hotel before noon from our US overnight flight, he let us use the ground-floor bedroom to clean up and change clothes. He then expedited the cleaning of our room and moved our luggage in while we went out for lunch, allowing us to check in still before the normal 2:00 time. We appreciate everything about this hotel!

It's far enough from the main bustle to give you a peaceful sleep but close enough to walk to Notre Dam, the shops and cafes of the old town just across the river. The staff is very helpful and kind and the bed was superbly comfortable; we just felt very relaxed there! The room was a bit small (big for Paris!) and warm so it would have been nice to be able to open the window for some fresh air to the bedroom, fortunately the bathroom window opened so we had a little air circulation from that. We did not enjoy the in-room instant coffee but were grateful for the Earl Grey Tea option. Despite these minor details I would absolutely stay here again and will recommend it to my friends.

Terrible management, desk manager argued, insulted and blamed me for a problem of bait and switch created by the hotel. I was there for 6 days and the insults from desk manager Silvain continued until I left. Disgusting experience. Otherwise, everyone else I met in Paris was friendly and interesting and kind. Rick Steves should stop including this place in his books.

- Explorer783212 (10/5): Great stay in the Marias - We had a wonderful stay. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We stayed in a standard room - it was a little tight, but what we expected from a small boutique hotel. Room was clean and comfortable with a small closet that held our clothes and luggage adequately. Bathroom was good sized and the shower was exceptionally large. Breakfast consisted of coffee, a selection of juices, yogurts, cereal, meats, cheese, hard boiled egg and several types of pastries. Close to several Metro stations and walkable to many sights and shopping, but off main streets so it was quiet at night. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. Easy walk to Notre Dame, La Place des Vosages, Musee Carnavalet, and the Musee De Cluny.

- H7710ULalia (2/5): Untrustworthy Management. - I recently booked a stay at this hotel but realized it was an error within a day. I contacted Booking within 20 days of arrival to cancel the non-refundable reservation. According to Booking, the hotel agreed to waive the penalty and approve the cancellation. I received confirmation with this information, and Booking.com advised a 20-business-day refund timeframe. Unfortunately, despite the confirmation, the hotel never processed the refund. When I contacted them directly, they denied any knowledge of the cancellation agreement. This experience raises concerns about the hotel's communication and trustworthiness. This is clearly a bad ethic, they had to provide wrong information, canceled the booking so that they can rent it out to others during the Olympics. so greedy.

- 86calgary (10/5): We loved our stay here so much! - What a charming boutique hotel! Our room had so much character - stone floors, wood beam ceiling, beautiful lamp fixtures. But it also came with all the modern amenities you wouldn’t expect in a 17th century hotel. Huge bathroom with a great shower, good A/C plus a window that opens. Lots of storage in 2 cupboards plus under the bathroom sink, a mini fridge with drinks and snacks for purchase plus room for your own things. Tea and coffee making corner. It wasn’t a huge room but had space enough for the two of us. Very quiet, very comfortable. The friendly front desk is staffed 24/7, they kindly printed off my boarding passes for the day we left, breakfast is available but we didn’t try it. There’s a small elevator plus stairs. The Sully/Morland Metro station is a 2 minute walk away and we used it to get to the Eiffel Tower. Otherwise we walked everywhere - to restaurants and patisseries, to the Bastille Street Market, to Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre, the Vedette boat tour of the Seine River. We also booked the hotel’s private shuttle to take us to the airport. The price was added to our hotel bill. We loved our stay here and will definitely stay again if we make it back to Paris!

- LT_Kilburn (10/5): A great stay. - A very conveniently located hotel in a quiet area near the river and about 2 mins walk from the metro, 10 mins from Notre Dame, and 20 mins from the Louvre. Very friendly and professional staff. The room we had was spacious, with large windows that opened wide onto the street and let in plenty of fresh air, but we didn't have a view as such. The room had flagstone flooring, a comfortable bed and plenty of storage. The bathroom was large also, and had a huge shower that was excellent. Breakfast in the morning was in the basement breakfast room which had great stone walls, was bright, airy, and with only 4 tables, not busy or overcrowded. The continental breakfast was fantastic.
- Lee (10/5): - This hotel is ideally placed for the metro around Paris so getting around is easy, however the river is just a 2 min walk and a stroll up the river for about 15 mins you will find Notre Dame & the Louvre. The hotel staff were all friendly and accommodating, the room was lovely, with a huge bathroom and a shower that was excellent as well as big windows that opened wide so you could look out and up the street (not that there was much to see from the hotel, it is not in a viewing location). Breakfast was in a basement room and it was like eating in a cave with the stone walls (not a complaint, all very clean, bright and dry), and it was snug (only 4 tables) yet comfortable. The continental breakfast was lovely also. No complaints from us on any aspect of the room we had or the facilities we used at this hotel.

- jessicasH9985XQ (2/5): Sleepless nights - 4.4 Arrived to the hotel to find out they had accidentally checked someone into our room. They had used the shower and provided us with extra towels. We did not make any arguments because it was a mistake and we had 2 young children that needed to rest. What they failed to tell us that there was a pigeon nest with in the rooftop. One of the baby pigeons was out of the nest and making a loud slapping noise with its wings against the top of our ceiling. We had terrible sleep being woken every few hours. Made the front desk aware and they said they are fixing the problem. Second night was worse. Let the desk know that it was terrible and shared a video of this loud noise because they were thinking it was just bird noise. Again they only accommodated free breakfast which was told to us when they checked someone into our room. No other accommodations were made for us to satisfy the sleepless nights we experienced there. It was a very disappointing stay.

- 181claye (10/5): Shines a Warm Light on "Boutique Hotel" - We spent two nights here, and while we chose a tiny room, the bed was very comfortable as were the pillows (often you get one or the other, not always both), and if we didn't have so much luggage we'd had enough room to move around. The bathroom and shower were excellent, with the latter luxurious in a way we've not had in places more expensive, and certainly newer and with chains. The quality of the room/bathroom was well above average, and the English-speaking front desk people were helpful, very friendly, and made us feel comfortable from the moment we entered. Access to town was exceptional as well, and we checked in and walked back out almost immediately to begin exploring. Hope we're back in Paris in the not too distant future, and we'll stay here again. Sidenote: Continental breakfast was local baked goods, cereals, yogurts, juices and very good coffee. And even though we took their shuttle (also excellent, smoothest path to an airport we've taken in years) way before breakfast, the concierge made sure we had coffee and rolls ready for our 5:15 departure.

- Vanessa (10/5): Great place to stay. - Our flight was canceled and we found ourselves in Paris an extra night without anywhere to stay. We made this last minute reservation and were unsure of what to expect. The place turned out to be better than where we had originally stayed. The hotel was very conveniently located, the area was safe, and the 24 hour reception was a plus. Room was a good size for our family of four. The airport transport option was also a huge help as we had trouble at times finding a taxi/Uber. Can’t recommend this place enough.
- P1738FNdavec (2/5): No breakfast room - it is closed - No breakfast room. It is closed. And has been closed for months. Very disappointing. It’s an expensive hotel. They don’t tell you it is closed until you get here. The website says there’s a a breakfast room and booking.com says that too. Very misleading. So you have to find somewhere for breakfast which isn’t easy. I would never have booked this hotel without a breakfast room.
- MooMoo89 (10/5): Beautiful gem in a quiet yet central street - Room was beautiful, very old style, LOVED the stone flooring! Bathroom was lovely, and the room was spotlessly clean. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the taxi organised to take us to the airport was not only early, but charged to my account so no need to get cash out. Great, quiet area with lots of restaurants and bars in walking distance.

- BucksMummy (10/5): Fantastic staff, quiet rooms and super convenient! - My son and I visited at the weekend and couldn’t fault the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and we received a warm welcome. The air con in the room was amazing as Paris was super hot at the weekend ☀️ The location is brilliant near two metro lines and direct from Garde Du Norde on the pink metro line to Bastille. Also 2 mins from Sully metro and the River Seine. Our room was very quaint and authentic French feel. Quiet street and we slept well. Highly recommend for a convenient location in a safe location with great access to Notre Dame, Saint Germain district (lovely bars and cafes) and easy to get to Sacre Couer/Montmatre. Thank you - we will return!

- Rebourner (10/5): Boutique Hotel in Marais area of Paris - Beautiful boutique hotel of only 12 rooms, in a beautiful 17c building, perfectly situated on the edge of the Marais area of Paris, but walking distance to the Bastille / Notre Dame. Ideal for walking around the trendy Marais area with it street cafes, amazing bars and shops. Loved the area, but close enough to walk to touristy areas/ pick up the hop on/ off buses to see the sites etc. Hotel rooms are not huge, because it’s an old building, but beautifully appointed and with very charming and welcoming staff on the front desk. Breakfast is recommended and served in the ancient vaulted basement.
- 634megap (10/5): THE VERY BEST THAT PARIS HAS TO OFFER - This hotel is really one of the best small hotels we have stayed in, it is very central to all activities, a short distance from the Seine, there are great restaurants nearby, The hotel itself is beautiful, the staff are incredibly helpful, the rooms are great, the bathrooms luxurious, with the best showers I have ever used, and I have used a lot. From the start, in dealing, in English with the staff by telephone they couldn't have been more helpful, efficient and professional, they are there for the customer and nothing is too much trouble. It was our first time and it will not be the last. Well done, everyone at St Louis, Marais, you are champions.

- Kenneth (10/5): - This hotel is a gem in the Marais section of Paris. The staff was welcoming, friendly and always eager to help. The continental breakfast hearty and substantial. The location is conveniently located near the Place de La Bastille and Rue St. Antoine. Easy walking distance to Notre Dame on the Île-de-la-Cité and other Parisian landmarks. Two near Metro stops make it easy to travel to anyplace in Paris. My wife and I spent a week here and when we return to Paris, we definitely will return to this hotel.

- _P1601TX (4/5): shocking. Appalling service. - We arrived at the hotel for 2 nights. Because we were 3 people, we purchased the room that is on the 4th floor in the attic. The most expensive room the hotel has. The very first time we wanted to take the elevator down, we got stuck in the elevator for 15 minutes. We rang the elevator bell, and knocked on the doors, but no one heard us. Luckily we were able to forcefully open the doors, as a result of the push my sister was injured in the leg. When we approached the receptionist at the hotel, she was indifferent to the case, she didn't care. We asked to speak to the manager, and the manager during our entire stay was not in town. Until they let us talk to him on the phone, he told us in response you are welcome to leave. Reception service is appalling, and manager even more so In addition, throughout the stay the elevator was not repaired (one elevator in the hotel) and it was very difficult to go up and down the stairs every time 4 floors.

We were not made aware by the hotel website or listing on hotel.com that this would be the case/possible. Not great. Much better experience at Hotel St Louis - Pigalle during previous stay.

- Maria (8/5): 5th Arrondissement Hotel - This was a great place to stay if you want a more local feel in Paris. The service was good, the lobby was nice, and the breakfast was perfect. Our rooms were comfortable except that our two rooms were located in a weird spot. It was in sort an annex with no signs and right on the street. We traveled with a senior citizen who felt a bit unsafe in that location and had a very hard time unlocking his front door and shower door- both kept getting stuck. Overall great stays

- JAMES F (6/5): Great property except for the lack of hot water - Everything about this property is wonderful with the exception of one very critical item. There was frequently no hot water, especially at peak times, such as in the morning, when you likely wish to shower. In the six days we stayed, we were only able to shower on two mornings. On all the other days, the water was ice cold, and bathing was impossible. We did shower in the evening, however this is less than acceptable. The bathroom had been beautifully renovated, making it all the more unacceptable to have such an inadequate hot water heating system.
- DAN (4/5): Disappointed - After a bumpy start- I was offered a dingy room on the ground floor facing the street that was later rectified, all was good. The hotel is located close to La Bastille, one of the gathering places of the yellow vests demonstrators. After listening to the news, checking with local police forces and the US State Dept. advisory site we decided to leave the hotel one day early. We were concerned about safety and being able to make our flight. We gave the hotel 24hr notice and they refused to give us a refund for one night, claiming their cancellation policy is 72 hours. Even so, this is not right and they should adapt for emergency situations. The safety of their guests should be their first concern.
- David (10/5): Sweetest Boutique Hotel in Paris - This is one of the most charming boutique hotels I have stayed at in my travels. It is a small hotel but very comfortable. It gives you a taste of Paris. This was our second time staying at this hotel and we’d do it again.
