- gooddeal223 (6/5): Nice hotel but sense of welcoming is not here. - The hotel is nice and a couple of meters away from Dubai Mall, perfectly located. I was here alone on a business trip. However, I don’t know if the sense of welcoming I received from the staff, something like “please understand that we are making efforts to accept you in our hotel”, is the new and prevailing mood in the city. You know what I mean, Dubai has become so exceptional that, sometimes - not always - it treats people below the norm. “Our hotel is more important than you”. Examples: at breakfast, smiling attitude is inversely proportional to the time I had to wait for a cup of coffee, getting 2 by mistake in the end. Again, no smile. No WiFi in the breakfast room by the way, the network signal of the hotel is lost. I had personal effects to be delivered in the evening and requested that they should be brought to my room in my absence. “Yes of course Sir”. Upon my return, nothing was done and the bag was lying on the floor at reception, not even one message to inform me although I am a Bonvoy member from which you could expect a little more. Bonvoy? Let’s speak about it. Upon arrival: “yes sir, you reserved through a 3rd party and you won’t get any points”. What did I do so that people are so mean with me? I got points all the time. I don’t know. There is something more and more missing in Dubai: kindness, the essence of luxury. The rest is just pretentious attitude that will go nowhere. In the end, my best exchange was with the guy selling real estate for Damac projects in the hall. Smiles and professional attitude. Maybe they should hire him as a teacher.

Santa looked after our table and was excellent throughout the evening. Friendly, professional, and very attentive without hovering. He knew the menu well, made great recommendations, and made sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Service like that genuinely makes a difference. - OnAir779675 (2/5): Disrespectful treatment of a single mother with a child – no management response - I am writing this review to warn other women, especially those travelling alone or with children. I made a clear request for a rollaway bed almost one month before my arrival, as I was travelling with my child. This request was confirmed well in advance and was one of the main reasons I chose this hotel. Upon arrival, I was informed that the hotel decided to give all available rollaway beds to another group instead, despite my early request. I was explicitly told that the hotel preferred to accommodate another group, leaving me and my child without a proper sleeping arrangement. Had I been informed of this in advance, I would never have booked this hotel, nor would I have paid for additional services. The situation escalated when I tried to speak to management. I was told to wait, and I stood waiting for a long time, only to later realise that there was no hotel management available on site at all — only a few front desk staff members. No names, contacts, or escalation options were provided. During this time, I personally observed how the same front desk employee, Mustafa, spoke very politely and attentively to male guests, while addressing me in a rude, dismissive, and humiliating manner. I am a widow travelling alone with my child, and the difference in treatment was impossible to ignore. I was spoken to as if I was trying to receive something for free rather than being a paying guest. This behaviour occurred in front of my child, which made the experience particularly distressing and degrading. Most concerning, this employee introduced himself as the General Manager of the hotel, which later turned out to be untrue. He is not a general manager, and misrepresenting himself in this way is completely unacceptable. I was denied access to real management, misled about management availability, and left waiting without any proper assistance. In addition, the room was not properly cleaned upon arrival. The carpet was visibly dirty and clearly had not been vacuumed, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this category. As a result of the complete lack of response on property level, I was forced to contact Marriott International corporate customer care directly. An official corporate case was opened (Case ID: 786-517-307). At the time of writing this review, many hours have passed, and there has still been no contact, no meeting, and no response from hotel management, despite the open corporate case. This raises serious concerns about whether this property has any active on-site management at all and how guest complaints are handled. I have been travelling to Dubai regularly for over six years, and I have never experienced this level of disrespect, exclusion, or discriminatory treatment before. I strongly advise women travelling with children, single mothers, and solo female travellers to think carefully before booking this hotel. No guest should ever be made to feel powerless, humiliated, or treated as less worthy of respect.

- MichaelS991 (10/5): 2 days stopover in Dubai - I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights last week. Really good location, in the downtown area and very close to the Burj, lake and fountain, and the Dubai Mall. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms not flash but comfortable and perfectly adequate. There is a good size pool and a fitness centre. There are lots of dining options at the hotel. There is a smart restaurant, a cafe, a courtyard area and an attached sports bar (“Netz”) for food and drinks. The sports bar serves drinks and bar style meals/snacks, they give 30% discount to hotel guests and also have happy hours for most of the day which provides further discounts and makes this a very inexpensive option. I only dined in the courtyard once and the food was not great. In any case, it’s a very short walk to Burj lake where there are myriad dining options. Breakfast is included and the service was very good. The food was generous and quite good quality - and they will do eggs to order. Our price was $380 AUD per night. Where that fits in your price point is of course personal but I thought pretty reasonable for a good hotel in a good location in Dubai. Dubai is not cheap. The clincher for this hotel is that they provide early check-in. Our flight landed at 0730, but by prior arrangement we were able to drive straight to the hotel and check in - so good after a long flight. And at no extra cost! I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

- spottster (4/5): Friendly Team, but the Hotel Needs Attention - The hotel's location is excellent; the Dubai Mall and other attractions are easy to reach. The staff were consistently friendly and attentive throughout our ten-day stay. However, for a 4-star hotel, I expected significantly more overall. Our first room (221) was very worn, and the shower in particular had an unpleasant sewage smell. After three days, we moved to room 821. Although it was in better condition, the loud noise from the roof ventilation made another move unavoidable. We spent the remainder of our stay in room 735, which was generally tidier but clearly showing its age. A particularly negative point was the extremely dirty windows, which appeared not to have been cleaned for a long time. We were also alarmed to find a piece of luggage in our room that did not belong to us. We reported this to the reception and were told that a staff member had accidentally left the backpack there. Incidents like this should not occur in a hotel of this category. Breakfast was very basic. There was only a very small selection of fruit, and on one Monday, yogurt was initially unavailable due to an alleged shortage. It was only provided after we asked several times. Napkins had to be requested each day anew, and the entire terrace area looked unkempt – including the heavily soiled red carpet. Overall, I would rate the Heritage Hotel barely 3 stars. The team deserves recognition for their clear efforts to provide hospitality, but unfortunately, the staff cannot compensate for the hotel’s structural and organizational shortcomings. After all these experiences, our stay at the Heritage Hotel – which we chose based on the excellent reviews – was a significant disappointment. We now view these reviews much more critically. Finally, we would like to expressly ask management to refrain from sending standardized responses such as “We will discuss these incidents internally with our staff.” What matters to us is that the issues mentioned are genuinely addressed, so that the hotel can stand out for more than just its excellent location.

Every member of staff we encountered was super friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay as good as it could be. We were pleased our room was ready early after a long flight. I had notified the hotel it was my partner’s birthday and the room was decorated with rose petals and a cake delivered just after we arrived -the staff member singing happy birthday too! The room was absolutely stunning, large in size and with really comfortable huge bed as well as beautiful view of the Burj Khalifa. We just had to sleep with the curtains open to see the lights. We loved the bathroom especially with large bath and separate shower. Every little touch had been thought of. Gorgeous smelling toiletries as well, which I wished I could have brought home. The pool area was beautiful and really quiet which made it a lovely peaceful spot to relax in after a busy day of sightseeing. Location perfect - 5 minutes into the Souk Al Bahar or Dubai mall and plenty of restaurants in every direction as well as a handy small supermarket. If I had to find a flaw I would say the breakfast buffet was fairly small for a hotel of this size but what was on offer was all tasty and fresh. My only regret was that I wasn’t staying longer.
