- Hazeldine62 (10/5): Stop trying to decide which hotel to stay in and book this one. - I had some trepidation about staying at Hotel Palazzo Stern because I thought from the photos online that the rooms looked a bit "long in the tooth" and not very modern. Having stayed, I am thrilled we booked this hotel. It is WONDERFUL. The rooms are traditional, but it matches the vibe of the grand canal. Sitting on the terrace of the restaurant having coffee in the morning or wine in the evening and watching the boats go by is magical. The hotel is in a great location to easily walk to many of the main sights as well as next to a vaporetto (public water taxi) stop. We hope to one day return.

Room was large and bathroom lovely. Breakfast was great, we had continental, lots of fresh bread, fruit and yoghurt, but cooked available too. Very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful from front desk, porters, hosekeeping and breakfast staff. The location is great for bars, restaurants, bridges to cross to other side. I could not recommend this hotel enough. We will definitely be back. 5 plus stars.........

The room was very clean, comfortable. The staff were very helpfully and knowledgeable. We Really enjoyed breakfast over looking the canal.
- Travelpro56V (6/5): Beautiful but imperfect - The hotel itself is gorgeous, inside and out. And the water taxi stop is right outside, which is super convenient for getting around Venice (although at €10 a ride, not cheap!). It's also a lovely, quiet area to stay in. The rooms are not modern, but spacious, and the housekeeping is immaculate. The bathrooms are large, but be careful as the bathtub-shower is very difficult to get in and out off, as the mosaic tub is about 2.5 feet high on the side. Also the water pressure in the shower head is inadequate for anything but the most cursory rinse. The dining room staff are gentle and kind, which makes having a meal there a very enjoyable experience, service-wise if not culinary-wise. That being said, the staff at desk, though solicitous, is not on their A game. Leave yourself ample time to arrange any service, including checking out, and do it way in advance.

- charlessJ7760VJ (10/5): A Great Spring Stay at Palazzo Stern - The four of us (my wife and I, and our children aged 10 and 8) had a fantastic 4-night stay at the Palazzo Stern. The building is spectacular: a 15th-century palazzo that has been remodeled but preserves a lot of elegant Venetian charm. such as marble floors in the common areas, Murano glass chandeliers. and intricately carved woodwork (note the lion newel post on the stairway). The rooms themselves were large, airy and bright, with high ceilings and luxurious decor---again in Venetian style, but not "old" seeming. My wife and I stayed in a Junior Suite at the front of the building, while our children shared a room at the back that overlooked the side canal and a garden (belonging to another palazzo). All of the spaces in the hotel felt large, but the overall feel was of a pleasantly small establishment. As far as location goes, the terrace and several of the rooms overlook the Grand Canal, which is incredible to experience---and our room was surprisingly quiet (very little noise from boat traffic) with the windows closed. The Ca' Rezzonico vaporetto/Alilaguna stop is only about 50 feet from the hotel, so you can very quickly be on your way around the city. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the complimentary pick-up service from Piazzale Roma in the hotel's own water taxi was a particular treat!

- 350adrianw (10/5): Great well located hotel with helpful staff. - My wife and I have just returned from 4 nights at this wonderful hotel. We were apprehensive before we went because my wife is in a wheel chair following a stroke last year. We needn’t have worried, despite steps into the hotel and in parts of the ground floor the staff were very helpful in helping us in and out and even put ramps down in some areas. We were also grateful to receive an upgrade to a junior suite which was very spacious and had amazing views of the grand canal. In addition we were given a number of maps showing accessible areas of Venice; really helpful. The hotel itself is an amazing building dating back to the 15th century. The location is right on the grand canal next to a waterbus stop making it easy to travel around. It also allowed for an easy journey from and back to the airport. Overall we had a fantastic break in Venice and look forward to returning in the future. We would heartily recommend palazzo stern to anyone.

Not to mentions having an afternoon drink or Prosecco there

On arrival we were given a free upgrade to a junior suite overlooking the Grand Canal. It was our 9 years old daughters fist time in Venice and she loved it. The hotel is in a great location, the Alilaguna jetty is right outside, and it has a lovely outlook over the Grand Canal. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We stayed on B&B board and the breakfast options were excellent. Highly recommended!

- P6627FNjamese (10/5): An almost perfect visit to this wonderful city. - We had a fantastic 3 day jet2 city break in Venice. Its location was perfect right on the Grand Canal. Our shared water taxi from the airport dropped us at the hotels private jetty and the bell hop was on hand to sort out our luggage so neither us or the luggage got wet! The room oozed characters and the staff were amazing! Breakfast on the terrace overlooking Academia bridge was magical. Two minutes walk from Campo San Barbara and two more from Campo Santa Margherita where there were reasonably priced restaurants as near to student quarter. I can’t think of any negatives!

Nous avons été très déçus par le petit déjeuner, non par le service, mais par sa qualité. Pour 20€ par personne, on s’attend plus qu’à des tranches de pain et un croissant, pas frais le mardi matin . Fort décevant, ce qui ne nous a pas encouragé à essayer le restaurant. À la réception, à part, la jeune femme souriante qui nous a accueillis , le personnel semblait peu impliqué et peu aimable. Quant aux chambres, elles auraient besoin d’un sérieux rafraîchissement.

Ich wurde upgegradet in das DZ, so dass ich nicht umziehen musste, sondern von Beginn an im DZ war. Die Lage. Die Duschoptionen in der Badewanne (veraltet). das Frühstück. Das Buffett wurde leider abgeschafft. Es gibt jetzt a la carte. Wenn man nicht das „full cooked breakfast“ für ca 30 € wählen möchte, ist die Auswahl für auch immerhin 20 € übersichtlich.

- airblue1 (10/5): Our Absolute Home Away from Home in the Heart of Venice - This was our third year staying at this truly amazing hotel and it consistently provides everything you could possibly look for while staying on the Grand Canal. Located perfectly between the Rialto Bridge and San Marco the Palazzo Stern offers the ideal balance of being close to the main attractions without being trapped in the middle of the frantic tourist action. This year we moved to room 201 which was absolutely perfect for our small family of three as it felt like our own private little suite tucked away for quiet but still close enough to the main hub of the hotel. The front desk team is incredibly knowledgeable approachable and accommodating and they truly go out of their way to ensure every request is met with a smile. The logistics of travel are made so simple here with various options for airport transfers and the convenience of having a Vaporetto dock practically at your doorstep for easy access to the train station or other Grand Canal destinations. A tremendous highlight of this location is the proximity to Campo Santa Margherita where you can escape the crowds to grab a fantastic bite and enjoy the authentic local atmosphere. What truly makes this place feel like a home away from home is the wonderful staff who treat you like family including Sabina, Gabriele, and Gionata, at reception along with the exceptional service from Joel (Above and Beyond), Junior, Rani, and Muhammed at the bar and breakfast and the meticulous care of Aliona and Paola in housekeeping. We thank you all so very much for another unforgettable stay and we cannot wait to see you again next year so stay well and live adventurous :)

Over the years we have built a strong relationship with the hotel group as a result of our many stays at Locanda Vivaldi. As fate would have it, Locanda Vivaldi was in the midst of construction during our annual scheduled visit. We learned of this when someone in the management group contacted us and informed us that we had been rebooked at Palazzo Stern and that the room and accommodations would be in keeping with what we have come to expect at Locanda Vivaldi. We were not disappointed. Palazzo Stern is a fantastic property. It is stunningly beautiful in structural detail but the staff there was the true heart of our experience. The staff far exceeded our expectations. Thanks to te front desk team and bellman who welcomed us on the steps when our water taxi arrived; that arrival can sometimes be stressful. Jonah (Jonathan) welcomed us upon our arrival and made sure that we had all of our initial questions answered. JORDAN happened to be the person with whom we had the most engagement. If we had an inquiry, he had the answer, or, the very next time we came in or out, he had all of the specifics whether or not we decided to follow through. His knowledge, attention to detail and his genuine interest in our experience was remarkable. Sabina referred us to a restaurant that is now on our Italian top 10 places to eat; we went there twice. The dining room staff, evening and breakfast were wonderful. Weather conditions were very rainy during our stay and we appreciated the accommodations for dining in our room and, in the hotel. Our little dog Salvatore fell in love with the staff. Thank you for allowing him to stay at your property. During our stay I did ask to speak with a manager and was told that there was not one available at Palazzo Stern or elsewhere. That was concerning; however, we will reach out using the contact information that we have. Our genuine thanks goes every member of the staff that made our visit so very memorable. I’d like to call out Paulo Trevisson, who was one of the main managers and wore a lot of hats. Personable and charming, he embodied the spirit of palazzo stern as much as anything there! P.s. this place has an amazing chapel on premise and the decor was more beautiful than the pictures give credit to! I would recommend the palazzo stern to anyone without hesitation! I could have booked my whole damn vacation there…live and learn

- attillathehun (10/5): Another very nice stay at a historic hotel - This was, approximately, our 10th 3 night stay at Palazzo Stern. As usual, the room (junior suite) was comfortable and well maintained (also, given the cold January weather, it was warm). The location is great….walk out the door and you are at the grand canal and a few feet from the #1 Vaporetto landing ….a few stops from st. Marks or the Rialto. The neighborhood is very convenient in terms of shops, restaurants and access to some key sights.

The hotel lobby was beautiful and our room was well decorated with a nice big bathroom. The staff was extremely helpful in arranging a boat trip and water taxi ride when needed. Perfect location, it's a magnificent small hotel and lovely staff who you see at each visit and are friendly in a very genuine way, none of that gushing nonsense , which suits me very well. I don't need to be told to "have a nice day" as every day in Venice is a dream day.

Our only concern is that there has been no reversal to the formerly excellent self service breakfast which has been replaced by a more limited continental/fuller menu. Stlll - we expect to be back again next year.

- jorgevV7070KY (10/5): Palazzo Stern: The perfect place t stay in Venice - What an amazing experience! I stayed for two nights with my wife and son, and we were not disappointed. The check-in process was smooth and effortless thanks to the professional and courteous staff. The building itself is gorgeous, filled with artistic details that made us feel like we were stepping back in time—such a unique part of the overall experience. Getting to the hotel couldn’t have been easier. There’s a vaporetto stop just to the left of the entrance, only about a one-minute walk away, and the property also has a private dock if you’re arriving by water taxi. Our room was extremely spacious and comfortable. The beds were great, and we all slept well. My favorite spot, though, was the terrace—perfect for enjoying a meal or a glass of wine while overlooking the Grand Canal. I also loved the location. The hotel sits near several charming little plazas filled with restaurants and shops, and we were only about an 18-minute walk from the Rialto Bridge. It never felt like we were far from anything. Another fun perk was the complimentary private boat shuttle to Murano. Yes, it’s organized through a glass company hoping you’ll shop there, but it’s still a free round-trip boat ride. You can choose to stay on the island afterward and return on your own via public or private transport. We opted to ride the private boat back right after the tour—but honestly, if we’d bought a €3,000 chandelier, I’m pretty sure they would’ve made sure we got back too! LOL

- Freedom00081654794 (10/5): Family weekend in November - We spent a pleasant family weekend at this hotel. The location is excellent for all destinations, and the staff is professional and friendly. Upon arrival, we were even offered a room upgrade, which we were delighted to receive, as we found ourselves in a suite overlooking the canal. We enjoyed both the cocktail bar in the evening and the excellent and generous continental breakfast in the morning: everything was perfect. I highly recommend this hotel for a truly memorable experience.

The staff were brilliant and so friendly and helpful. The views from the terrace were amazing and the building is stunning. We thought the hotel was great.
- Sherpa07861378948 (10/5): Wonderful stay at Palazzo Stern - Palazzo Stern has a perfect location right by the canal, offering a genuine Venetian atmosphere. It was easy to reach the hotel by airport water bus. The outdoor terrace is beautiful and peaceful, and ideal place to enjoy breakfast in the morning. The rooms are spotless and comfortable, and the staff are friendly, attentive, and very service-minded. We truly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.
