ronf267 (10/5): The best hotel in Munich. Full stop. - We travel a lot as a family. We know the difference between a hotel that looks good on paper and one that actually delivers. The Charles delivers. Every single part of it. We recently spent two nights at the Charles, and not one moment felt ordinary. Leaving was hard and we wished we'd had more time. It was my first stay, and it was an intergenerational trip. My father, my son, and myself. It had to be special. My father insisted we stay here. He'd already been several times, and now I understand why. From the moment we stepped out of the car, Lena and her team were there to greet us and make us feel like we'd arrived home. There is no better way to start a hotel stay. The entire concierge team set the tone from the moment we arrived. Warm, professional, and genuinely attentive without being overbearing. Not in a showy way. Just quietly brilliant at their jobs and utterly genuine in their hospitality. Always one step ahead of any request. That kind of service is rarer than it should be. The rooms are magnificent. Fourth floor, incredible view over the gardens towards the old city. Spacious, beautifully appointed, and the kind of space where you actually want to spend time. We were limited on time and had a lot to see, otherwise I would have happily just stayed in the room. That honestly says everything. Breakfast is outstanding. A phenomenal variety of fresh, local food and wait staff who are attentive and genuinely lovely. Not performatively lovely. Actually lovely. We lingered far longer than planned and ate far more than we should have. Post-dinner drinks at the bar turned into one of the highlights of the trip. Bayern Munich was on, we settled in, and what started as a quiet drink turned into one of those unexpectedly brilliant nights that will form a core memory for our family. Great atmosphere. Great drinks. The bar staff knew exactly when to engage and when to leave us to it. The spa deserves its own mention. Beyond exceptional and one of the genuine standout features of the hotel. If you're staying here and skipping it, you are simply missing out. As for the neighbourhood, I just want to live there. Truly perfect. Close enough to the old city to feel connected to Munich, far enough to avoid being swallowed by it. That balance is hard to get right. The Charles gets it exactly right. Is it the best hotel in Munich? Undoubtedly. Is it one of the best hotels in the world? Again, undoubtedly. I have stayed at some of the finest hotels in the world in some remarkable locations. The Charles is easily in my top five.

It was our anniversary and they sent a bottle of wine and put rose petals around the room. Every request we had was professionally addressed. They even made us a large to go bag for breakfast as we left before the daily breakfast. We upgraded to a park view Junior suite and it was absolutely worth it! The view was amazing. The Irish bartender truly made our evenings memorable. The drinks were the best we ever had. He was incredibly personable and made us want to come back each night (which we did!). This stay was completely worth the expense. If you want a good place to feel truly cared for in Munich look no further.

You’re just a short walk from Munich’s main train station, yet removed enough to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere. Rooms are spacious, well-maintained. Large windows offer lovely views of the park. Beds are comfy, bathrooms feel luxurious. Be careful with the street sign at the beginning of the street—it can be confusing. Because of it, some taxi drivers stop about 100 meters from the hotel entrance.

The stay was elegant, comfortable, and genuinely welcoming, the kind of hospitality that lingers in one’s memory long after departure. The arrival experience set the tone beautifully. The welcome gift of ceramic beer mugs with pretzels, cheese, pickles, and cold brew beer was charming, generous, and instantly memorable. It felt both local and personal, and it made us feel sincerely welcomed. Our upgraded room, with its panoramic view over the botanical gardens, was another highlight. The view brought a real sense of calm and beauty to the stay, and the complimentary extra single bed was a thoughtful gesture we greatly appreciated. Daily turndown service added another layer of comfort and polish. Breakfast was outstanding, truly one of the finest hotel breakfasts we have enjoyed. The croissants, cappuccinos, fresh orange juice, made-to-order eggs, eggs Benedict, charcuterie, cereals, and homemade breads were all exceptional. We also loved the hotel’s location. It made Munich wonderfully walkable, and we especially enjoyed being so close to the park, botanical garden, and opera area. The Charles felt perfectly placed: central, elegant, and calm. Most of all, we enjoyed how the hotel made us feel welcomed, cared for, and completely at ease. Many hotels offer luxury; far fewer offer warmth with this level of polish. By the end of our stay, The Charles no longer felt like simply a hotel. It felt like our address in Munich.

The spa was great, good size pool, lovely soft dressing gowns & great massage. We felt really relaxed after a busy week working in Munich. We ate in the hotel restaurant as it was cold out that night & we didn’t know where we wanted to go & we’re so pleased we did! Everything about the restaurant Florio was just perfect, front of house, the interior design, lighting & especially the food & very importantly our lovely waitress Giulia. Giulia was the cherry on top of a perfect evening at Floria. She was friendly, funny, attentive but not over the top, just perfect. Thank you to Giulia and the team we had a really wonderful evening & stay at this hotel.
O2388TEolgap (8/5): Stay at Charles - Nice hotel, location, space staff and restaurants, but I got a room on a 5th floor where I could not sleep due to a noise (high frequency) out of the pumps or ventilation systems, when the room was changed to a 4th floor, noise was lower but still present, which disturbed my sleep. I guess the team knows about the problems but should have warned the clients in advance if a room of an higher category should be chosen to get a quit and uninterrupted sleep.
briankU5578MA (10/5): Top notch hotel in Munich - My wife and I along with another couple we were traveling with stayed at the Charles for several days. It is a fabulous hotel. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner and enjoyed it immensely. The staff were extremely competent and friendly. The location is great, within easy walking distance of the Marienplatz and other sights. I cannot recommend The Charles more highly.

vipulagarwal (10/5): Hospitality with a heart !! - In true sense, a hotel is not a 5 star , just by the bulk of facilities it offers but the it's human touch to make the stay of it's guests as comfortable & as memorable as possible. This hotel truly falls in that category. I have stayed in many good hotels in the past but was honestly amazed to see the cooperative approach of the team at this hotel. All my requests were taken care off, especially the one related to an early check (as early as 8 am in the morning). Now that's something never heard of by a hotel in Europe who are pretty adamant on the check in timings. Really, really appreciate this gesture taking into consideration the face that I reached the hotel after a pretty long flight & was really tired. Now comes the property : Rooms are quite large, spic clean & nicely designed. Breakfast decent & service nice. I would also like to mention here the names of Marco at the porch & the young lady at the reception who made the first experience on reaching the hotel & really nice one. The hotel is in walking distance to the downtown & shopping area. There are many good cafes & restaurants in walking distance, what else do you want while choosing a good property for your upcoming stay. Will definitely choose this hotel when coming to Munich next :)

robertc585 (10/5): Munich’s Best - We just completed a 5 day visit to Munich in this 5 star first class hotel. We booked a family room and a deluxe garden view room for our family of 6. You need to look nowhere else when looking for a great hotel in Munich. If traveling with children The Charles goes above and beyond for the little ones. The rooms have been beautifully renovated and are probably the best and largest in the city. Their standard room is 431 sq.ft. The hotel is located on a very quiet high end street but is also a short walk to all attractions. The entire staff exemplifies the highest service standards. You will be glad you selected this hotel for your stay.

Every area of the hotel is immaculate, very classy , sophisticated in style . The food and beverage is lovely , presentation to match. Breakfast is plentiful with a hot choice as well , made to order. The breakfast room looks very inviting with top quality offerings. The rooms are large with very comfortable beds and pillows and a lovely powerful shower . The spa is beautiful and spotlessly clean. We were sad to leave but will definitely be back soon .

In der Laufnähe gibt es gute, einfache Restaurants wie das Blockhouse und L'Osteria. Wir waren schon häufiger Gast im Rocco. Der Früjstsücksbereich ist komplett umgestaltet worden. Das neue Design soll an den botanischen Garten erinnern, ist aber sehr langweilig. Das Büffet ist jetzt auch im hintersten Winkel untergebracht. Die Maßnahmen haben sämtlich zu einer Verschlechterung geführt. Wir führen uns im Frühstücksbereich nicht mehr so wohl. Leider hat auch die einst so schöne Hotelbar gelitten. Sie wurde dem neuen Frühstücksbereich mehr oder weniger geopfert. Die Modernisierung der Zimmer hingegen ist sehr positiv. Frische moderne Farben!

At check-in, I was initially assigned a room overlooking a busy street with traffic. When I asked whether my request had been received, I was told: “Yes, but we don’t have any courtyard-view rooms — let me see what we can do.” Two minutes later, I was offered another room in the same category overlooking a very quiet street with no traffic. I was fully satisfied — but it makes me wonder why this option was not offered from the beginning. Unfortunately, there is another issue that may affect only more sensitive guests: the hotel has a swimming pool in the basement, and the pumps and ventilation systems operate 24/7. This creates vibrations that cannot be heard but can be felt through the mattress. I was unable to sleep after about 3 a.m. every night because of this. Breakfast The breakfast selection is excellent. However, eggs, tea, and coffee must be ordered separately. On the first day, the waiter forgot my order; after waiting 25 minutes, I had to remind them, and what I finally received was not what I had ordered. I thought this was just an isolated incident — but the next day was worse. I waited 35 minutes (!) for my order. A lady seated next to me ordered coffee and left after waiting 25 minutes without receiving it. The service here clearly needs improvement. Shower and maintenance The shower drainage was not working properly — water accumulated and overflowed outside the cabin. I tried calling housekeeping, but the phone was programmed incorrectly: instead of housekeeping, it connected me to the restaurant. I then sent a WhatsApp message to guest relations and received apologies and confirmation that the issue would be fixed. Later, when the room was cleaned, I mentioned the problem again and was reassured it had been resolved. However, when I took a shower in the evening, the same problem happened again, and the phone still had incorrect numbers. I had to complain for a third time, after which a gentleman finally came and fixed the issue quickly. Spa The spa team was lovely — very polite, professional, and genuinely helpful. It was a pleasure dealing with them. However, I do wonder what type of massage training the therapist had. I would strongly recommend taking an advanced course and everything will be 100% perfect!

Klaus (8/5): - Das gebuchte Hotelzimmer war sehr komfortabel. Auch an der Lüftungsanlage gibt es nichts auszusetzen. Diese ist bei den meisten Hotels in die Jahre gekommen und ist nicht so perfekt. Der Frühstücksbereich im EG ist auf Grund der Raumhöhe und der Möblierung sehr ansprechend. Wir besuchen regelmäßig Hotels der gleichen Preisklasse hauptsächlich in Wien, am Lago Maggiore aber auch in München. Wir sind daher auch hier von einem hohen Qualitätsstandard ausgegangen. Leider konnte das Frühstück in keiner Weise die Qualität dieser Hotels erreichen. Das "egg benedict" ist ausbaufähig und wer ist denn für die Croissants zuständig? Das Personal war zwar nett und sehr bemüht aber doch etwas überfordert. Etwas Unterstützung von erfahrenem Personal wäre sicher vorteilhaft.
