- Famousfourtravellers (8/5): A surprise upgrade - Arrived very early to Reception expecting to drop off cases and return after lunch for check in however the very kind Reception ‘manager?’ not only gave us an upgrade to a junior suite suite but also had the room immediately available and we checked in and up to the room and this was all before 10 am!….. Fantastic!! Beautiful room although the jacuzzi bath was not working which we reported. Many thanks for making our trip extra special!

- Explorer051978 (8/5): Nice clean hotel well placed in the centre - Overall a good stay comfy room however priced on the high side. Breakfast was just under €20 per person so we ate in a different cafe daily for under €15 for both of us. Hotel bar on the roof was closed but the area was very nice to sit in the sun. Gym is great. Sadly no one told us you needed to book the sauna so we didn’t get to use it. We drank in the bar which is nice but again expensive. However the hotel is placed in the centre with a plethora of places to eat and drink in. Staff were not friendly and didn’t provide a friendly feel or any additional information unless asked. Overall we had a nice time and hotel was clean and comfortable. Air con in the room was great and coffee provided (but no milk). I would recommend the hotel and have stayed in their chain many times. However if you are on a budget this is not the hotel for you.

Didnt use lunch or diner. Perhaps its possible to add some more English tv stations or (even better) Dutch or Belgian TV.
- U5852IMmichelk (10/5): A warm welcome after a late flight and delay due to car hire issues - We were given a lovely room with a wonderful surprise of complementary cava which was welcome as the bar had closed as we arrived after midnight due to unavoidable delays in our travel arrangements.we wish we could have stayed longer but our pre prepared schedule with secret escapes did not allow this.We had been scheduled to stay on our last night but this was changed to an alternative venue.I am glad that we had the opportunity to visit the hotel .

- 188mirellav (10/5): Perfect for Malaga City break - Fabulous hotel in a great location to discover the city and coastline of Costa del Sol Malaga really is a perfect getaway location within easy reach of the UK. Hotel is spotlessly clean. Rooms have full bathrooms with robes and slippers included . Spacious rooms. Excellent selection at breakfast which is buffet style with egg station for freshly cooked omelettes and pancakes. Top floor has a small pool and sunbeds, perfect for when you need to relax after exploring the city. The bar by the pool was not open (in feb) but they were chilled about you bringing drinks up there. Restaurant bar on ground floor has a good selection of food and drinks and not crazy London prices. Hotel is located next to the Maria Zambrano station which connects you to anywhere you need to go. Also small shopping centre at the station and larger one (primark, Zara, mango, dunes) 300 metres away. Can easily walk to the centre or get the C1 (one stop). 3 stops to yeh airport so no need for cabs.

- 886catha (10/5): Fabulous - We went for my Husband 60th, just for three nights, and what an amazing hotel with fabulous service, the place is immaculate, the rooms beautiful, and we received a bottle of bubbly and some chocolate strawberries on our arrival as I had informed them of my Husband‘s birthday, then yesterday on the day of his birthday when I had put his birthday cards up, they again provided another bottle of bubbly and his own little cake with a candle, and a lovely message, lovely little touches like this is what makes this place amazing, breakfast lovely, and location really good, would recommend to everybody!
- KenzUk (10/5): Classy hotel in central location - Staff at this hotel were all so friendly and welcoming and efficient. Parking on site was fantastic and at €22 cheaper than other cities. A very straightforward flat 18minute walk into the old town where we can highly recommend a visit to the Central Market what an incredible place fantastic experience. The hotel has a giant slide from the first floor which was great fun.

It has amazing staff who are always willing to help you whether that be by providing hotel services or providing information about the location. It is in a great location with easy access to transport links for the metro, buses, local trains or intercity trains. The services provided by the hotel met all our expectations and more. Excellent value for money. The nicest thing is that many of the staff have been there a number of years and they make us feel like family when we arrive. It is our Málaga home.

- 320globetrotter (8/5): Ideal Short Break - We stayed here for a weekend break in January. The hotel is clean and conveniently located with a direct link to the station. The station has lots of shops and eateries including a supermarket. The location is approx 20 mins walk away from the old town but there are numerous buses going to the centre from directly outside the hotel and the fare is very cheap so ideal if walking is difficult. Everything iin our room was modern with a large shower, coffee machine and fabric steamer. The staff are polite and the breakfast is plentiful with lots of options. We would stay again.

The hotel reception was welcoming and relaxing with a small modern bar area. All staff were friendly and pleasant I would recommend this hotel. Malaga is a beautiful city at Christmas time the lights we're spectacular. Our room was modern abd immaculately clean the black out blind was great for a good night's sleep comfortable beds.

The location is really good, as just next to the main train station and easy to get everywhere in city. A walkeable distance (30mins) from the historical centre, but not if walking it with kids. Despite all, our little one enjoyed the big slide in the entrance hall. Highly recommended

- HKS72 (8/5): Decent hotel in Malaga - I stayed at the Barcelo Malaga for five nights with my wife in a king bed superior premium room. The hotel is in a good location attached to a train station. It was just a ten minute train ride from the airport and cost less than a couple of euros each way. It is also a 15 minute walk from the old town and a similar walk time to the beach. The room was a good size, great shower and comfortable bed. View we had was of a large flat roof but that was fine. Some signs of wear and tear such as cracked sink and slight damage to window. The set up with the safe, fridge and coffee machine was not thought through and awkward to use but otherwise ok. Overall the room was decent and good to stay in for a few days although two things frustrated me. Firstly, they do not provide an iron or ironing board. The provide a steamer in your room. I was told by house keeping that there was no iron or ironing board in the whole hotel buy surprisingly I managed to secure one from reception. I ended up carrying the ironing board to my room on the third floor. Not a good look for a hotel. Secondly, they only provide one bottle of water per stay. That is ok I can live with that however housekeeping only refreshed the room amenities on the first and last day of our stay so each day I would have to go to reception to get coffee capsules, sugar and stirrers. I am sure that is not how it should work. I have to say this would have been an issue however the team at reception were great and resolved all my issues when I raised it with them. Overall, despite these minor issues, this is good hotel in a good location and priced reasonably so I will use it again when in Malaga.

- snowboardgirl2015 (10/5): A very well appointed hotel - This is a really well appointed hotel right next door to the station so it makes transfers from an airport a breeze. We found the room to be really well equipped with a Lavazza coffee machine and all the toiletries you could need which was useful especially when travelling with hand luggage. The bar service was excellent and really friendly. The gym was well equipped and the pool was heated which made a December swim possible. If I could give any constructive comments- the check in process was not the most friendly although all our other interactions with staff were great. It would have been appreciated to have more information provided in the room about breakfast times/room service/the spa. We ate a snack in the hotel one evening which was delicious however it would be appreciated if there were a few more simple options for snacks on the menu- a few types of sandwhich for example as after all the rich tapas in the town you sometimes would prefer something simple to eat. All that sad, this was a fantastic stay and we would definitely chose to return. Do note it’s 1km to walk into the old town, and a shorter walk to the beach.
- HSE (10/5): Perfect in every way! - We stayed for one night on the way back from Cordoba before leaving the next afternoon and have stayed at this hotel before. The location is just perfect for travellers coming to and from train as the hotel is located within the station. Nothing better than coming in by train and being in the hotel straight away! The bed was so comfy actually the best bed we have slept in and the sheets felt very soft and luxurious. The amenities in the room were excellent including a fridge, kettle, safe etc and a fantastic shower. We walked out and about on the evening and next day and found the centre to be 10/15 minutes away. The roof top on the 8th floor was excellent for relaxing in the sun although the bar was not open at the time we were there (December) A bottle of cava was delivered as we are repeat guests which was a very nice touch. If we return to Malaga we will definitely be booking the Barcelo for it’s location and comfort.

The taxi rank at the station was so handy for times when we didn’t want to walk. A bottle of cava was delivered to our room on our first day too as I had mentioned we were celebrating a birthday when I booked. A lovely touch. AND the bed was amazingly comfortable.

We were equally as impressed; the staff were friendly and kind (particular thanks to the gentleman on check in who was patient whilst I practised my poor Spanish!), the breakfast was amazing and on learning it was a special anniversary for us, the hotel arranged a lovely gift for us delivered to our room - which was so unexpected and generous. The hotel is a little further out of the historic centre than some of its competitors, but having stayed in another closer hotel later in the week, the quality of the Barceló is worth the extra distance. Would highly recommend and we hope to stay again someday! Thank you.

- Poliwhirl (6/5): Nothing special in my opinion - I saw lots of previous reviews where guests described an amazing hotel and exceptional service. After staying I wondered if I had stayed in the same hotel as those other guests. Don’t get me wrong, the hotel is pretty decent but I wouldn’t describe it as exceptional in any way and I didn’t receive amazing service during my 3-night stay. There was nothing really wrong with the customer service, I would describe it as business-like and functional, not personal. I had two significant issues that affected my stay. Most significant was the very poor air conditioning which made the room very uncomfortable. After the first night I asked the hotel staff to check if it was functioning properly. I informed the front desk I was going out and would be out all day so they could do what they need to do during the day. The engineer came to the room just after I arrived back after a full-day sightseeing when I was showering and changing - not ideal. There was a fault with the air conditioning which was apparently fixed. However, the room atmosphere was still uncomfortable, even though I could reduce the temperature it still felt stuffy/humid making it difficult to sleep. The other problem was the very weak WiFi in the room: it really was inadequate. I have a lot of other minor niggles, and whilst none of these are significant in their own right and I might be accused of not-picking, when added all together they equate to general dissatisfaction: - some noise can be heard from guests in the next room - There is a lack of TV channels for UK/American guests - The coffee making area is a disaster, a coffee maker, kettle and all the supplies all packed together in a tiny space; not functional - Shower door made a horrible screeching sound every time it opened. - Mood lighting options are very poor - either too dark or too bright - Minibar with no prices, but nothing to suggest the items are complimentary. Are they free or not? - Bed was a bit soft for my liking - The bathroom soap dispensers are frustratingly restricted so you have to press them numerous times to get enough soap to wash I stayed in a Superior Premium room - to be honest I thought this was pretty standard and didn’t feel there was anything premium about it. Sorry to be a moaner, but I just didn’t feel there was anything special about this hotel. Breakfast was OK - good choices and the location is extremely convenient for the airport as the hotel is right at the Maria Zambrana station where the train goes direct to the airport in about 10 minutes

- Krisepooz (10/5): Great comfortable stay - My husband and I have returned today from Malaga after a 4 night stay for his 40th birthday Hotel is easily located from Malaga train station which is a great and affordable way of getting to the city centre and also close to the seafront and a shopping mall which was convienient. I was able to do a nice run along the from on a couple of mornings from the hotel. Room was comfortable and clean with toiletries, coffee and drinks in the fridge which was a lovely touch. Blackout blinds were great and ensured a peaceful sleep. We used the rooftop pool and lounge area which was quiet due to the time of year but great that it was still open. Hotel is located slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the old town. We walked in daily and took around half hour. This may not bother a lot of people and it didn’t bother us as we needed the steps to walk off the delicious food that all the restaurants had to offer. Due to this we did not eat at the hotel but the restaurant looked nice. People wanting to stay nearer the centre may wish to consider other options. Hotel area felt safe at night with shops and restaurants nearby. I would recommend this hotel and would certainly stay again. Missing Malaga already.
- AdrianJones91 (10/5): Fantastic hotel, unfortunately we will never return to Malga - If you are looking for a hotel in Malaga, this is the one. I won't repeat all the previous compliments but you will enjoy your stay at this hotel. The problem came when trying to depart from the airport. It was absolute chaos. Nobody seemed to be going through passport control and we were fortunate a Jet2 rep was there to help us through. I didn't see one other travel company rep or anyone from the airport taking control of the debacle. No information being given out on the public information system. A lot of people in tears because their flights had departed without them. I spoke to a couple who had a holiday home there and said it was a regular occurrence. By the way, before the Brexit brigade start, their queue was longer than Non EEU. Great hotel, but I wouldn't risk the airport chaos. The worry would spoil the holiday in a beautiful friendly city.

The rooms are of a high standard and equipped with all necessary amenities. The location is excellent, with the city center and most of the sights within walking distance. The hotel is directly accessible by train from the airport. A train station is located right outside the hotel, offering connections to nearby towns such as Fuengirola, Marbella, Cordoba, and Seville.

- Candjo9173 (10/5): Fabulous hotel - Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Really nice decor and attention to detail. I dare you to try the slide that leads from the first floor to the reception area! Rooms were spotless and spacious - we chose a basic room and yet it was still lovely. We didn't have breakfast on this visit but others said it was lovely. If I had to mark it down there would be 2 things: one is that Saturday is clearly a busy day for checking in and out. When we arrived there were about 5 or 6 people waiting. Because this hotel's check in procedure is very thorough, even though there were 3 staff on the desk there was a queue leading out to the door of people waiting by the time that we had been registered. The other thing that I have to mark the hotel down for is the availability of the pool. We were told on check in that it was open 9am to 9pm and the sign outside the pool area confirmed this. However, we went one night at 7pm and the pool was in darkness apart from a couple of lights that were on the patio but some distance from the actual pool. It didn't feel safe to swim so we left it. Otherwise a really lovely hotel which we'd recommend in a heartbeat.

- PearlyPotter (10/5): Brilliant Barcelo - This was our 3rd stay at the Barcelo Malaga and again we had a great holiday. We booked a Junior Suite for 8 nights, room 816, and it was just as excellent as our last stay. We received a complimentary bottle of Cava and a welcome note indicating that they knew we had stayed previously. It was my birthday during our stay and we were surprised by another bottle of Cava and some cake. These little touches create the feeling of being valued guests. The room was great. The bed was so comfortable, the shower excellent and housekeeping standards were high. Breakfast was most enjoyable with a wide variety of food. The Barcelo is our go to hotel in Malaga.
- claireo367 (10/5): Wonderful - Stayed here last week with my husband for 4 nights and it was great. 2 min walk from the train station which was only an 8min journey from the airport. Loads of taxis outside the train station and only €5 max to get to the cathedral which was a very central point to explore the city from. Hotel was very comfortable, we had a deluxe double room, bed was huge and comfy and ac was excellent. Great shower too. Bar staff in bar downstairs were so friendly and polite, breakfast staff the same. Breakfast was delicious, plentiful and fresh. Only complaint was the bar person at the pool on the day we arrived, Enrique, he was most unhelpful and in fact very rude when we ordered some food and drinks. The rest of the staff for the rest of our stay made up for this. Great location and Malaga is a beautiful city, compact, clean, safe and overall an excellent vibe. Would highly recommend
- BobandMaggie60 (8/5): Great base for Malaga visit - This hotel is great for sight seeing in Malaga, with options to walk in or catch the underground easily from nearby in the shopping centre. Equally easy access to the airport too. The superior premium room has very comfortable beds, is very clean and quiet. Towelling robes and slippers are included too and a vertical steam iron!! There are free drinks in the fridge but we weren’t aware of this until we asked at reception on our last day.. and then had to go and get a bottle opener from the bar..they aren’t replaced free of charge once used. The Lavazza coffee machine was excellent. Not in the centre but there are a good selection of restaurants nearby to enjoy if you don’t want to go back into the centre for an evening meal. The pool is smaller than it looks on the photos and towels are only available once you have paid 20e at reception . Plenty of sun beds but obviously the sun isn’t always on them so choose your time of day to enjoy them wisely or just enjoy the roof top bar and views.

It is beautiful inside with georgeous rooms and a fantastic buffet breakfast which is second to none! The staff are such a wonderfully, friendly people who can't do enough for you to make your stay one to remember. You will want to come back time after time like we have done. Luis the bar man and all rounder is just super friendly and a great credit to the hotel. So is the technician Thomas who dealt with our tv channels superbly! - clarkangela73 (10/5): Great stay at Barcelo Malaga - Well located hotel with good transport connections. Great room and helpful, friendly staff. Only issue was inconsiderate noisy neighbours at 4am! (Not the fault of the hotel). It did not spoil our stay - we would definitely return to Malaga and hotel Barcelo!!

- tandt6691 (4/5): not worth it at all - only 2 things good for this hotel, the mattress and it's above the zambrano main train station. for the rest it's not worth it, when the room cost 400 $ and they you have to pay for your bottles of water in the room!!!! that tells you how stingy cheap they are on all other things. there is a million hotel around the train station, for cheaper.

- Sehem (10/5): - We had a great stay at Barceló Hotel Málaga. The hotel is very clean, check-in was smooth and easy, and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The terrace pool is a nice bonus for relaxing after exploring the city. Two things to keep in mind: parking is €22 per day, and while the location is convenient next to the train station, it’s about a 12–15 minute walk to the old town and around 25 minutes to the marina. That said, the walk felt safe and was easy to do even with young kids (ours are 5, and we managed fine without strollers). Overall, a comfortable, modern hotel with good amenities and great service.
- Michael (10/5): - We had a fantastic stay at the Barcelo Malaga. Despite having an issue with a pipe leaking into our room during our stay, the staff were incredibly helpful and proactive in getting this sorted. They kindly upgraded us to a different room as compensation. Their friendliness, kindness and help was outstanding with a particular mention for Nacho who was just the best. We would definitely stay here next time we are in Malaga and have already recommended it to family and friends. Thank you!

Nice location - This hotel is connected to the train station and a bunch of shopping, About a 15 minute walk to the main tourist areas, 20 minutes to port area. Our biggest complaint was crummy wifi--no bars on the roof and kept dropping in the room. Also, we asked for firm pillows and they put them in the room, but the pillow cases didn't fully cover the pillows.
- N3213IFfionam (10/5): Excellent hotel and lovely staff - Fabulous hotel next to the train station and taxi rank. Arrived Monday at 11.20 which meant breakfast had finished but they accommodated us to our room immediately. First night I managed to get myself stuck inside the bathroom because the sliding door got stuck. Maintenance were here in less than 5 minutes to sort it. Next day when we came back from sightseeing there was a chilled bottle of wine in our room and two bottles of water apologising for the inconvenience!! There wasn’t really any inconvenience but how kind of them. Breakfast buffet is a little expensive but there is cava next to the orange juice for no extra cost and the omelettes and the fluffiest I’ve ever had!! In the station next to the hotel there a number of fast food restaurants but the drinks in the hotel are really good value for money. We were expecting to pay London prices but they are cheaper than our home town in England!!! I would definitely recommend! My only criticism is the pool is tiny with loungers really close to each other but the beach is only five minutes in a taxi. To be fair it’s a city hotel not a resort so you can’t expect a massive pool. I would still recommend staying here though

- akdamani (10/5): Barcelo Malaga stay - Excellent place to stay with young children. Amazing staff and very confortable and clean rooms. My 9 and 10 year old loved spending time on the 8th floor pool👌
