- naohiro (10/5): -

- Joel (8/5): - The hotel had a very old feeling about it.
Nothing really wrong with that, just had a "the shining feeling" about it. Take from it what you will. The step down from the toilet was around 30cm or more, could have hurt a lesser man stepping down from there brushing your teeth.
- Cristina (5/5): Passable - They were quick to change the room Rooms was not in great condition
- Juliet (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Olarte (6/5): Pleasant - Breakfast was good for the price and the location of the hotel is excellent, only a 15min walk from the station. There was a lot of dust on the side of the shelves. Like it hasn't been cleaned in months, my bed only had one small pillow.
- Robert (7/5): Slightly expensive for the quality of the room, though the breakfast was great. - Excellent buffet breakfast Room was a little cramped. No Netflix tv. Bed was a little hard.
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Katsuhisa (4/5): Didn't meet expectations... - It was only avaialbe from 6:30 on weekends and I couldn't have it. It would be better to start from 6:00 am Even on the 9th floor, noise from trains is too loud. Window cannot be closed tight, when I pressed it the noise reduced, and it is quite unbearalbe.
- Jitti (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Goldstin (9/5): Superb -
- chasingtheskies (6/5): Dated but clean - Ended up here due to a last minute reservation after an adjustment in my itinerary and all my regular choices were either booked or asking for higher-than-usual rates due to the peak travel season.
As the title suggests, the hotel feels like it was left behind from the bubble economy days of the late 80s but was clean and functional as a place to stay for a single night. Room size is typical for a Japanese business hotel with all the typical amenities (disposable slippers, yukata, etc.) Didn't have time to try out breakfast at Ravenna but there's a Lawson convenience store close by and a (rather quiet) mall across the street. One major suggestion is to definitely request a room that faces away from the Tokyo Monorail tracks as the line is next to the hotel.
The property itself is 10-ish minutes from Hamamatsucho Station via the East exit though it is advised that one should take the longer route via the West entrance if you have heavy luggage as the East exit route is stairs-only. Otherwise, it seems not too bad of a walk to catch a connection to/from Haneda Airport, although if you could book a hotel for the same rate that's closer to the station then go for that. It's also a 5 minute walk to Hinode Station on the Yurikamome Line that can take you to Odaiba and Tokyo Big Sight.
I can’t imagine staying here again but I wouldn’t be opposed if I were placed in the same situation once more.
- Joaquin (8/5): Very good - Great location, walking distance from several train or subway stations. The room is quite small for two people.
- Marianne (7/5): Good -
- Eugene (9/5): value for money - clean. comfortable. There was a long queue when I checked in.
- Eugene (8/5): good one night stay , interesting neighbourhood, lots to do in the area eg gardens, restaurants, harbour views - clean comfortable convenient n/a
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Joaquin (8/5): Overall it was a pleasant stay. - The hotel is located conveniently between three train stations and the neighborhood is nice. The air conditioning took a while to cool the room.
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): Outstanding staff! Outdated hotel. - Incredibly attentive and kind staff. Went out of their way to help me often. Extremely affordable. Accidentally booked a smoking room. Previous tenants have burned the walls and stained the fixtures with cigarettes. Hall itself smells as well. On no smoking floors it was cleaner and smelled nice.
I only ever saw the same cleaning woman on my floor. She was amazing and efficient. The rooms need deeper cleaning, especially on smoking floors. The hotel should consider giving their staff more resources! Bathrooms especially need a very thorough cleaning as they develop mold fast. Mine was covered in dust when I arrived.
I was provided with a clean towel, foot mat, pajamas, wash cloth every day.
The lobby looks nice but the rooms are extremely dated. A more current renovation could up the comfort and quality of the hotel.
You can hear trains but it didn’t bother me. A straight, ten minute walk from the station with covered pathway. Not wheel chair accessible for the direct route.
Near two Lawsons, one Family Mart, Doutor, McDonalds, and a pharmacy right across the street. Starbucks is on the way from the station in Plaza 111. A 15 minute walk offers loads of restaurants like Devilcraft and Chao Chao Gyoza.
There are two 100 yen coin washers and two dryers available. They are old but clean.
Would happily stay again in a non-smoking arrangement. The staff are a delight and made my stay worth while! I enjoyed my time with them.
- Richard (4/5): Hotel in decay... - The 10th floor and my room was shown as a no smoking area, it stinks to smoke and there was even an ashtray in the room. The walls and furniture as well as the bathroom were in bad shape, nothing that a little paint and care can’t fix, but they didn’t even try that.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very convenient location. Friendly and helpful staff.
- jmapar (2/5): Total Dump: AVOID - If I could I would give this hotel a zero star. This place is a total dump and does not understand the concept of hospitality business. The front desk staff does not give a hoot about guest well being and the hotel manager is clueless!
I was part of a group of 20+ staying at this hotel for one night. Our room on the 4th floor smelled like a smoker's room with very tired looking carpet and closed-off window. The room was extremely hot and stuffy so I turned the AC on to the lowest level possible at 18 deg C. But the AC was not working at all. The paint on the window sill was chipped off, the bathroom sink was discolored, and the walls were full of scuff marks. Looked like the last time the room was cleaned or updated was in 1960. As the window was closed off (locked) I could not open it to get some fresh air in. The train tracks (local train and fast trains) were about 20 feet from our room window and extremely noisy. In short, the room did not smell healthy so I went to the front desk to ask for a non-smoking room with a working AC.
The staff's response was basically this: "we're full ... don't have any more rooms ... this is all you get ... sorry for the inconvenience ... now be on your way and go away." I told the staff that we can't sleep in a smoking room but I was talking to deaf ears. I asked to talk to the manager and the only English speaking staff had to translate the issues. Hotel manager's response was non-verbal and mostly seemed to signal that he didn't understand what the problem was and very conveniently disappeared as fast as he showed up! Front desk said "we can't do anything ... talk to you travel agent ..." The response to the non-working AC was that would send somebody to lower the temp!
After returning from dinner I noticed the AC was still not working and went to the front desk. Staff told me "oh, we thought you were going to a different hotel so we didn't touch the AC." I asked to see the manager but he was hiding behind the front counter area in the back and did not want to talk to me! Guess maybe he was embarrassed!
While outside I could see that several rooms were dark possibly indicating that there were no guests staying there which is contrary to the hotel claim of being 100% full.
Bottom line: see pics for yourself. This place is a total dump; front desk staff are not helpful, don't care about guest comfort, and do not understand the hospitality business. Rooms are smelly, old, stuffy, and beds are as thin as crackers and perhaps circa 1950's Sear Roebuck era. There are plenty of more modern and clean hotels in the area so AVOID this place at all cost.
- Martin (8/5): Decent Hotel - Receptionist spoke very good English and was very helpful. The beds were toohard/firm, but pillows were comfortable. As all the hotels I have stayed at in Japan, there was no place to store clothes or luggage.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel - Affordable price and a clean room but difficult to find the hotel from public transportation.
- kenneth (10/5): Convenient - It is close to Hamamatsucho station which is a few stops from Tokyo station. Plus Hamamatsucho station has a monorail that takes you directly to Haneda airport (20 minutes).
- Kazuya (8/5): Good - It’s enough to stay only one guy or business.
- 92meghanm (2/5): Total dump. - This hotel is a dump. Outdated furnishings, peeling paint, uncomfortable bed, and worst of all - the a/c does not work in my room. I’m currently here, wide awake in the middle of the night, because it is too hot to sleep. Thankfully they provide a free fan, which helps slightly. Hotel is NOT close to train, station, as advertised. It’s a 15 minute walk from Hamamatsucho. The only positive thing I can think of is that I’m only here 1 night. Stay away!!
- Andy (8/5): Convenient location - Situated 10 minutes from Kanda station the hotel is easily accessible and the station area has many restaurants and bars.
The hotel is quite new so the room was in good condition however there was a stale smell in the bathroom that turned out to be coming from the drain, this was solved by flushing with a lot of water but surely the staff should have noticed this when the room was serviced. Rooms are small ( as is common in Japan ) but are well equipped.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
- Laura (6/5): Average! - Good service, rooms very small but serviceable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was overall just older and used, but it was also poorly cleaned, still not anything horrible though. Location was pretty fine, close to one line stop and with reachable distance to all lines which get you all around Tokyo. If you get your room facing the inner city you can see Tokyo Tower, but you will also well hear all of those passing trains and shinkansen. If your are staying just over night or location works for you well, then it's still fine place to stay at.
- Polo (8/5): - Great hotel in good location. Staff pleasant and helpful. Beautiful breakfast and extra amenities appreciated (eg coffee machine)
- Verified traveler (4/5): Skip It - The hotel is very old and not updated. I had paid for breakfast for both nights but only received one coupon. The breakfast the first morning was so bad I didn’t even bother mentioning it. My bathtub wouldn’t hold water and the bed was hard as a rock. Had booked the ‘deluxe’ room or whatever they called the best room on here but the room wasn’t nice and didn’t have a nice view.
- I8354DXmarinap (6/5): Showing its age but functional - Once you get out of the lobby, the more retro aspects of this hotel start to show, and not in an intentional way. The elevator doors will close with you in them, for example. The windows in the guest rooms all have bulky shutters to screen out the noise from all of the passing trains, but the curtains underneath are dirty and get stuck easily. The air conditioning has english buttons, but doesn't work very well. You can feel every spring in the mattresses. There's also some ancient grime around some of the windows and doors. But as a place to crash, it works, and there are english speaking staff. For two nights, it was fine.
- subwaymark (6/5): Okay room, long walk from station, but great train views - First to preface this review, I am a railfan. I booked this hotel for 2 nights for 2 reasons. 1) I knew it had view of the several train lines. 2) It was cheaper then what my company was paying for a hotel close to work so I knew they wouldn't complain when extended my stay in Japan by one day.
The hotel is about a 10~15 minute walk from Hamamatsucho station. That is not bad until you are lugging a suitcase and a backpack up and down several flights of stairs to get here. The room was tiny, but pretty normal for Tokyo. The bathroom was even small by Tokyo standards. OVerall the room looked very tired. I did ask to stay on the "train" side of the hotel. My room had great views of the Shinkansen, the Tokaido, Keihen-Tohuku and Yamanote lines, and the monorail was just above my room. I was able to open the window to get better photos and to hear the trains. Once you close the windows, it does muffle the sounds. Even with the trains I probably will NOT stay here again. But it was convenient on my departure that my flight was out of Haneda which the monorail goes straight there from Hamamatsucho station.
- Wanderlusting4ever (6/5): Good location but... - This hotel was a bit outdated and could use a good makeover. Even though I stayed in a non-smoking room, I could tell that the room was used for a smoking room. The room was tiny and the bathroom looked tired. Location wise, walking distance to the Hamatsucho station. Very close to Tokyo Tower. I wouldn't want to stay here again. Breakfast lacked variety.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable, friendly and delicious breakfast - Comfortable, friendly staff. AMAZING, plentiful and delicious breakfast buffet, though the tea cups were often not washed properly and the hot water dispenser nozzle in the lobby was dirty. Despite these things, I would stay there again because the food was so delicious.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Hotel near the Hamamatsucho JR train station - Not a bad location for the Hotel, convenience store is located on the same block and also across the street inside the office building along with several restaurants, coffee shop and McDonald's,
- Mary A (6/5): Quiet business hotel - Average businesses hotel. Even non-smoking rooms were a bit smoky smelling. The bathroom is a clumsy step up from room & or for this with limited motion. Convenience store at end of block, vending machines on floors and laundry in building. Restaurant offers essentially the same meals every morning but is satisfying.
- Jeffrey (8/5): Sleepy Hamamatsucho: - Japanese style business hotel. Small room
But clean. Staff helpful. Chosen due to proximity to rail station. Walkway from
SE exit of Hamamatsuchou most of it covered.
About 12:00 min walk. One large flight of stairs, along the walkway. Consider baggage you are carrying from station. Many small
Places to eat exit walkway S3 turn left at bottom. About 30m west. 3-4 small streets
Full of "Salaryman restaurants.
Two main alternative transportation:
Monorail to Haneda Airport.
Daimon station, Oedo subway train. E-W line.
Both are accessible by elevators.
Oedo line NW corner of train station ..walk one block west, elevator on S side. Otherwise if doing a day trip, there are escalators.
.
Monorail elevator hidden off street/alley adjacent to W side of Hamamatsuchou.
Looks like service road running N-S.
Mentioned because I was with rolling case
And Cary on. Easier than the steps.
Lastly, JR Japan rail, has two main lines
Yamanote lt green, and , Keihin Tohoku blue.
Cover most of Tokyo major suburbs.
Finally purchase a Suica card. A must for
Transportation. 2500-3000 yen for starters.
Can re load as you go.
So much to see.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice place, slow Internet - It has many PokéStop at the front door. However, slow Internet even using the room's cable.
- trevorp723 (8/5): More than 20 stays means something - I've visited Japan 11 times in the past 10 years, and since my first visit, used this hotel as a base from which to radiate around the country. During one 9-week tour, I was a guest here five different times, for 1- to 3-night stays. The breakfast is decent, the hotel is certainly located very conveniently to the Yamanote Line's Hamamatsucho Station, but it goes beyond that - it's a five-minute walk to the harbour and water taxis to Odaiba or up-river to the Skytree, a 10-minute walk to one of my favorite gardens in all of Japan, and the same to Zojoji Shrine where I pay respects to unborn children every day I'm there. And if you've got the guts for it, you can walk about 15 minutes to the Rainbow Bridge and stride across Tokyo Bay - just don't look down!
All in all, this hotel is very convenient and reasonably priced, but I agree with one other commentator, the A/C could use a serious overhaul, and the bathrooms need some updating. AND, I always get a view of the Toshiba Building and harbour, facing southeast. In spite of being deaf, and not caring about the train track side of the hotel, I like to watch the sunrise and all those people in black and white hurrying to work as I plan my day with the free coffee from the lobby.
I also run every morning, between 4-5AM, and it's a very safe neighbourhood!
