Guest Reviews
- JULIO (8/5): - Check and check out, took longer than needed because front desk people did not Stay at the front desk or were on personal calls. Once paid attention, they were nice and courteous. Parking was easy if you go before the restaurant opens, but once the restaurant open my parking spot which is on the inside of the gates was given to a restaurant guest by the valet guy who told me it would hold my spot while I stepped away to take my friend to the airport, and I was forced to leave my car overnight outside the property which did not feel safe. Also, the room did not have a television or radio, or any speakers to connect to so if you’re looking for any kind of entertainment, this is not it.
- Kelsey (2/5): - They accept bookings but are really closing down so you can’t stay here. They won’t tell you that until the day you arrive and can’t contact anyone . When I finally got to speak to someone after calling for 4 hours they said they put my reservation to another hotel Selina river miami , but when i called there they never heard of me . I got charged for one night plus tax for “missing my reservation” and then had to pay almost three times the amount for another hotel since everywhere else was fully booked. Can’t get ahold of anyone to get my money back .
- DARNELL (10/5): Comfort level 10! - Very nice!
- Patrice-Alain (8/5): - Good experience
- Donald (6/5): Better than most hostels w similar price. - Better than expected. The area in general is just ok
As hostels go its average. Looks like they are trying hard to improve.
All the desk people were exceptionally polite and helpful. Helped me w 100lb bag. Put food i left out in fridge w o me asking. Allowed another desk a convenience even after he checked out. One of the things hotels should grant but most do not.
I d suggest upgrading hostel room beds by adding 30 dollar memory foam toppers and also by adding a sqishy pillow in addition to the firm ones. Plus a microwave in lobby or by pool. They have restaurant bar nightclub. I didnt yet visit. Pool big enough for laps and looks clean.
- Debora (8/5): - I would stay again at this property since the location is great and prices are reasonable for Miami.
- Daniel (6/5): - When I saw this property and its listing, I thought to myself, “Oh, a renovated motel could be cute!” The pictures looked great and I saw that it was a part of a chain of hotels under the same name, so I took a chance. I was only staying a night so if it wasn’t great, oh well. But I was so disappointed, as I pulled up to the property. The renovations that they had done were all cosmetic and it looks like they definitely photoshopped the pictures on the listing. I thought that the price was a little too high for what I was getting. My bed had strands of black hair (my hair is bleached all over so it definitely wasn’t my hair), there were some markings and holes on the walls where something was drilled in and taken out, and the laminate fake wood floors felt like they haven’t been mopped clean in a while. Also, because it was a motel, the walls are thin and I could hear people talking outside and cars driving on the street. I think what bugged me the most is that it lacked a certain quality for the pice. The vibe is cute but if they’re charging over $125 a night (I paid almost $200 for the king deluxe room) but you’re getting a literal motel with a paint job, wouldn’t that irk you too? I will say, the front desk guy that checked me in was nice and friendly.
- Ricardo (10/5): - Great staff. Very clean property
- Rocio (10/5): Love it! - Fun quite safe and lovely staff i will definitely be going back!
- Cassandra (10/5): - The bed was very firm & comfortable unlike most motel beds. I saw other reviews mentioned hearing people walk around on floor above & noise from the club. I didnt feel bothered by it. It was mostly just loud rhythm i could hear but it wasnt much louder than AC. Check in staff were so very helpful & courteous. The pool area was very nice & relaxing atmosphere as well. They have their own parking lot, no charge for parking. the lot is gated & I also saw & chatted with a security guard
- Ricardo (10/5): - The property is very convenient and there are alot of near by stores and restaurants nearby. Also, it's a straight shot to Downtown Miami.
- Sandra Eileen (8/5): - Was a pleasant experience overall. Ignatius was an amazing person at the front desk
Just as pleasant as can be with hreat customer service skills and a pleasa t look about himself. I would' e appreciated fresh facecloths everyday but one day housekeeping forgot to resupply my facecloths so I had to use the end of a lTge towel insead to shower with, et . Other than that the air conditioning unit was working but it kept turning off at night so I had to get up to turn it on which wasn't cool at all but not the worst thing in the world. Overall, I was pleases. When I told the front desk about the two drawbacks he was very apologetic a d said he'd pass that on to the staff to fix. I loved my stay. Would re ommend it over staying dow town with all the congestion. I will def lodge at the Seli a Gold Dust again when I come to Miami!
- Tylan (10/5): - It’s a wonderful vacation if I want to bicycle or take a car to places like Normandy Circle or Wynwood, even the North Beaches.
- richard (4/5): - The rooms seems clean, as well as property but the smell of pinesol was over bearing had to keep the door open to get the smell out.
Also after getting there they charged a fee for accommodations,
Next day we went to breakfast at the restaurant and was not told that we could have paid an additional fee to have breakfast there at no charge from the restaurant
- Ricardo (10/5): - Dominik at the front desk was great. The whole staff was good exactly. I like staying at Selena.
- Caron Rose (6/5): ? - The check in staff member was friendly. However, he asked me for a code and maybe to pay again since the code from Expedia wasn’t good. I booked in Hotels.com with a gift card that I have never had problems using. I refused saying I had paid already and that was a matter between them and Hotels.com. So it was a bit time consuming and nerve wracking. He said he would have his boss deal with it.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Awful!!! - This place is far from everything!!!
There were no curtains on the bunk beds like promised. I asked the front desk about it and the guy told me he would bring a blanket, which he never did.
You can hear the people upstairs walking around and the club next door so it's nearly impossible to sleep.
They charge 10$ for renting a towel.
The fridge was jam packed, like they haven't cleaned in out for a month... then I put my food in at night and in the morning it was no longer there. I asked the front desk and they said there is nothing they can do (there aren't cameras in the kitchen) and didn't even bother asking housekeeping, didn't offer any reimbursement for the food I had to go buy again... just awful!!!
I ended up leaving early!!!
- Ricardo (10/5): - Dominik at the front desk is awesome and deserves a raise.
Actually, the entire front desk staff was great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I enjoy staying at Selina. Its very convenient whether traveling to the downtown or the beach. Transportation is reliable. I would definitely stay again at this property if I am in town
- Heather (8/5): Cute motel! - Hotel was cute. Our room wasn’t as decorated as the photos but the bed was very comfortable. A tv would have been nice. The pool was great. The restaurant was delicious and we had a great time. No complaints. The front desk agents were very nice.
- Osman (10/5): - The hotel was nice for my comfort
- Ambraysha (10/5): - Loved the retro decor!
- Nancy (10/5): - The area around this property is dangerous. I was speaking with a Miami detective and he was like,Lyft it out of here pronto.Hence, I split minutes later.
- Ali (10/5): - The best
- Chandler (2/5): - You pay 180$ for a noisy room. The staff is terrible and won’t help. When we checked it they told us the room was over the bar that played music. This was a club not a bar the bass shaking the floor til 3 in the morning! People crowding the parking lot. Don’t stay here!
- Brittany (10/5): - I would recommend this hostel above others in the area. I got a deluxe room and I enjoyed the privacy of my room combined with the social atmosphere of the property. The room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and comfortable. The pool was very clean and fun as well.
- Ashley (8/5): - Friendly staff, nice and clean but simple rooms. No mini fridge so couldn’t store leftovers. Nice pool area and a diner and bar/club on premises! But you will need to Uber/Lyft to get to places you want to go, like the beach, design district, downtown, etc. Great price and option for budget conscious travlers!
- Benjamin (2/5): - Arrived at 01:00 a.m. Receptionist was speaking in spanish with his buddy for 15 minutes while I waited. He then proceeded to tell me that he booked me a room above the dive bar they have there. He said I could cancel now or if he walked with to the room he’d charge me half. He then proceeded to charge me a $100 dollar deposit and $20.00 msndatory for coffee and water even though I wasn’t planning on uses any of it. He said the music would be done at 02:30. It went on way after 03:00 p.m. All the while I was walking 2 my room and approached by 3 gentleman asking if I needed any substances. Upon heading ip tye stairs the smell of Pot was so thick it almost made me pass out. Couldn’t sleep til’ 05:00, because the club patrons were honking their horns in the parking lot and brandishing what looked like to be handguns. This place is a total dump, is unsafe, and the receptionist was as shady as it gets. I wouldn’t recommend my anyone stay here. It’s awful!
- Sheshan (6/5): - Nice curtains over bed. Good ac. Stores close by.
- Shabin (8/5): - Very basic for the price but it had easy access to transit and food, and everything worked like a charm
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very calm, peaceful, quiet, no frills, clean and modern
- JOHN (10/5): - Friendly staff.
- David (2/5): - Only thing unique was the bar however if ur close to it is loud. If the price is low its because u share a room with other people.etc
.. the list goes on
- Justin (6/5): - Clean room
- Quennella (10/5): - The property was very nice and clean. Staff was great. Everything was convenient.
- Stephanie (10/5): Super cool spot! - The place is so cute! The staff were super nice. The man at the front desk gave us a free upgrade to a deluxe room when we arrived! Pool was cute and clean. Parking lot had security which was awesome. Overall a good experience! Wish we could have stayed longer to take advantage of the fun activities they had!
- christopher (2/5): - No one at the front desk to check me in. I waited for 45 mins. No call back, nothing. Nada. My reservation, time and cost of transportation to come here all for nothing. Shame because I normally like Selina properties but this is a joke. Don’t waste your time.
No volveria o recomendaria.
- Kristy (10/5): - The customer service overall (Don's Diner co-located is a must visit, front desk staff, housekeeping staff, etc.) was spot on. Communal kitchen and other spaces were enjoyable to use for functionality and relaxation. Fun classes available-most free: loved the yoga. Refreshing and clean pool-I enjoyed doing laps there. I felt safe in the location and had plenty of amenity choices. I look for quality at a great price and this hits the target! Selina in Miami was a consolation respite after the bad quality for the price choice when buying VIP Rolling Loud tickets. THANK YOU SELINA AND DON'S DINER for making my first visit to Miami a welcoming one.
- Samuel (10/5): - Great spot and great people
- Kristy (10/5): - I ate at Don’s Diner every day they were open and had a great dining experience every time with Dominique’s stellar service and the delicious food! Everyone I encountered working at Selina were friendly and professional. The pool was clean amd refreshing. Great yoga instructor and class. I wish I would have had time in my schedule for the guitar lessons. Only complaint: take off the deadbolt on the dorm rooms please. It caused a problem.
- juan (10/5): - Pool
- Victoria (10/5): - I loved this girl
- Heather (8/5): Wonderful Room! Just Hot. - I went for the shared woman's dorm situation because I was on a business trip and just needed a bed and a shower each night. That went great! I had a bunk bed, so even with roommates I had privacy.
The issues I ran into was that there were no outlets accessible to the bunk beds, even though there were cutaways for them. They also get really hot because there is no airflow in them, even with the curtains open. I think that putting outlets in the cutouts would help both situations, because then a small fan could be mounted in the corner above the tiny table thing.
I also had trouble securing parking each night because the public would come in to park for the restaurant. I don't really know what to suggest to fix this though.
Otherwise my stay was great!
- Gregoire (10/5): - Staff was king and hotel offered a lot of amenities
- Robert (10/5): Great place. - First impressions were a little concerning. But the staff was super friendly. The whole vibe of the place was fun and welcoming.
- Diana (10/5): - I love
- jarek (10/5): Spring Break 2023 - Great place, location and people. Will respete the trip.
- Zachary (10/5): - The staff here are great. I've been to a lot of places with this kind of environment around the world and Selina Gold Dust's staff are just great vibes.
- Jason (10/5): - Everything was great
- Leon (4/5): - I actually made a mistake with my travel dates by one day and thought they would have some flexibility to accommodate their guests but I lost my booking
- Stacey (10/5): - The pool area was adorable. They also held our bags for us so we could go explore Miami as we got off our cruise in the early morning and couldn't check in until the afternoon.
- Thomas (4/5): Clean, loud, nice decor throughout. But... - We were told that all 'systems' were not working when we arrived for check-in. Internet, booking info, and phones were down. They had no record of our reservations and I was told to provide proof of my reservation. Then they told me that I had to give them my credit card and ID, which is standard...however because their systems were not working, they had to write down my ID number AND my credit card number/expiration-date/3-digit-authentication#. This was on scratch paper that contained at least 8 other guests private info who checked in prior to me.
Then I asked to take a picture of the info they wrote down and was surprisingly allowed to do so...the other guests credit and iD info was not covered or safeguarded in any way.
The room was acceptable. No TV. Ear plugs provided on bedside table for our room which was poolside, however surprisingly we were not disturbed by guests at the pool. BUT the room above us was up all night and the lack of insulation or sound barrier between the 1st and 2nd floor was unbearable.
Overall I would recommend that you request a room on the top floor (no elevators) to ensure a pleasant stay. For the price it was acceptable - clean, safe, nice pool, and charming decor. Hopefully our experience was a fluke rather than the norm.
- Anita (4/5): - It definitely was not like the Miami river location, was extremely disappointed with the lack of cleanliness especially the bathroom. Rooms had no storage etc
They advertised laundry but there was none
- Stephan (10/5): - Very nice staff!
- Maribel (8/5): - Just check the way the ac work
- Bala (2/5): - The bed is terrible. The outside noise from the bar is unbelievable. They should not be renting these rooms with the poor amenities. Want the amount to be refunded.
- Martha Isabel (6/5): - I had to pay $89 because I didn't arrive on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, so that didn't seem to me because I called to let me know my problem to move.
Pagar 89 dólares no me parece justo cuando yo deje todo pagado para llegar directo a descansar a mi habitación.
- Gerardo (10/5): - Very nice place
- Roy (8/5): - Overall I like this hotel. Would be great if this hotel have Lift.
- Gilberto (8/5): - Tx
- Wayne (8/5): - The vibe of the motel was quite special - a bit hipster, but in a chi way. My room was unable to access Wi-fi, so I requested a new room that had access. There's a DJ that plays music through the afternoon, so if you're looking for a totally quiet experience, I'd go elsewhere. They hosted some live musicians in the later afternoon on the pool deck, they were excellent. Restaurant had good food but seemed overpriced. Overall, a good experience.
- meredith (8/5): - I liked the vintage feel to the place. Very nice pool and loved the VW bar.
Didn't like that there was no TV and no bureau or other furniture.
It was clean.
- Karen (8/5): - Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The pool area is lovely and charming, and so are the shared spaces. Pool is very clean. The room we had was adequate and met our basic needs. More linens for the bathroom and bunk beds would have made our stay nicer, as well as a fridge in our room. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
- Angela (10/5): - We booked this motel for one night. It isn't our typical booking option, however due to a last minute change in our schedules, we needed a decent place to stay. The area wasn't great and the nearby guests were very loud. There wasn't any microwave or fridge in the room and the clothing rack provided only fit a couple articles of clothing on it. Aside from those cons, the bed was comfortable and the cafe was VERY neat and cute.
- Robin (8/5): - First, the bad: the room did not have a TV, just an outlet and a large blank wall where one should be, opposite the bed. Not only was it a bit of a bummer, but it really felt bare.
When we went to check out, the man at the front desk couldn’t find any record of my reservation, despite being checked in the previous night. Pretty disconcerting.
The good: if you can survive without a tv, and without frills, this spot was a pretty cute place to crash. The parking lot was gated, which was a huge plus. There was a pool that seemed inviting, and it’s located along a canal, which is picturesque. The restaurants in the area are great and plentiful, and it’s within a 15 minute drive to a lot of cool places.
- tomasz (2/5): - Extremely bad experience
I booked this place , 1 bed 1 person.
Upon arrial i was told that they dont have a room for me and they can only offer shared romm with few people !!
I declinec and suddenly they were able to find a room but i had to pay extra . Double the price location is dirty , nothing around in walking distance
- Ashley (8/5): - I enjoyed my time at Selina! It was very cute, very clean little renovated motel. I stayed in a standard suite to myself by myself. I never felt unsafe and it was a very quiet and enjoyable stay.
- Jennifer (6/5): - This hotel was fine. It wasn’t dirty. It wasn’t loud. The bed was comfortable. The room was a very basic accommodation- bed, bathroom/shower, small table and chairs. We were able to park inside the small gated parking area each night. No TV, no fridge, no coffee maker, no microwave—all of which would have been useful for a week long vacation. The room did not have beautiful art in it as shown online. It was a fine, basic accommodation for a week vacation with my daughter.
- Karen (4/5): - Very disappointed!!! Dirty !!!! Only could get WiFi in pool area. Did I mention Dirty. Pictures on web site inaccurate!
- Verified traveler (6/5): It was eh.. - It was ok. The best thing about it was the little cafe that's behind it, Cafe Kush. What I didn't like was the bugs in the room, as I'm showering I see a little roach crawling on the wall... I was there before check-in as I arrived earlier than expected (check-in is at 3pm) I was there at 2:10 and was told that it would be maybe another half hour before I could get into my room. Went to check and see if it was ready after said 30 mins, was not. I did not get into my room until 4:00, that was a little disappointing. You can hear people talking through the walls, so if you're a light sleeper, I would not recommend.
- Joseph (2/5): - cafe kush was cool , free drink ticket was nice , wasnt allowed late check out the place was empty bad part of neighborhood
- Carrie (6/5): - The check in process was lengthy. First pre check in was required online. Upon arrival our room was not ready. The reception staff said nothing was available, then a woman from the cleaning staff stepped in and got us a family room that was ready. Restaurant next door kush is yummy and great staff. The rooms say soundproof but are not. That shouldn’t be advertised on Expedia as it is not the case. Rooms and beds are comfy and clean but it is a noisy location. We-we’s bakery down the road is wonderful - great coffee and food. The parking is also tight the hotel provides. Not enough spaces in the lot by the rooms but on the side street.
- Divya (2/5): - Poorly maintained property, rude and unhelpful receptionists and located in a sketchy part of Miami. Stay away!!!
- Nicole (10/5): - Everything was wonderful and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Not in the greatest area of town but as a single female traveler felt very safe with security onsite. The exterior needs sprucing up but don’t let that deceive you. The inside was very nice. I would definitely stay there again.
