Guest Reviews
- Robert (10/5): - -
- Terrence (10/5): - It was wonderful!
- Jeanne (6/5): - Best part of hotel was the staff. Very warm and friendly. Had booked including breakfast but somehow between Expedia and the hotel it didnt carry over. Breakfast staff lovely helpful people with generous pots of coffee which is unusual in Venice. Breakfast itself not great -cold dry eggs, cold oily zucchini. Good croisanrs and fruit. However, walls are thin and i could hear a neighbor snoring and someone on a lower level kept slamming doors in the middle of the night. Overall okay and convenient
- Valerie (10/5): - All the staff were excellent, very professional. The bedrooms were absolutely spotless.
The only criticism is, paper cups in the bedroom for coffee & tea, & the plates in the breakfast room were tiny, smaller than tea plates. Apart from that, excellent plus! I would definitely stay there again. It should be a 4 star not 3!
- Kate (10/5): - Convenient,, accessible to water taxi
- Jason (10/5): JB in Venice - Everyone was very cordial and friendly and very helpful. The cotton for breakfast was excellent. Location is superb. However, we had a small issue with the water temperature twice. Each time there was minimal hot water, but they were able to increase the water pressure and we got hot water within 15 or 20 minutes. But it was annoying to happen Twice and we were only there for two nights. But overall extremely happy with everything else.
- Patricia (4/5): - Location was great but the room was very small outdated, bed and pillows very bad
- amy (8/5): - Great staff! Was a bit dated
- Younes (10/5): - Great
- Douglas (10/5): - Staff were very friendly and accommodating and we were right in the middle of everything.
- Alexandria (10/5): - Loved our stay here. Beautiful hotel, beautiful and yummy breakfast, close to everything, but still quiet. Helpful and friendly staff
- Conor (10/5): A perfect hotel for staying in Venice. - We only had two nights in Venice, sandwiching a full day between arriving and an early flight out. I am so glad we chose to stay here for this trip. The hotel is gorgeous, tucked away only a 5 minute walk from Piazza San Marco it is well situated but very much off the tourist routes leaving it calm and quiet. The walk through takes you along a high street with lots of big name brands which is fun to experience in a Venetian setting.
The room itself was gorgeous and very comfortable with an attached ensuite. My only gripe was that the air conditioning felt slightly underpowered when fighting against the 35 Celsius days we were visiting in.
Breakfast was very nice and the hotel's dining space feels very luxurious but also very comfortable. Dining out was easy with the Concierge providing great local recommendations (I would highly recommend the nearby Vino Vino of that, ask for a garden table).
And further the Concierge were all very helpful and accommodating especially of a 5am checkout. The hotel has canal access allowing for the possibility for water-taxis to drop-off and pick-up directly into the hotel which I would recommend considering for an airport transfer. It is worth the lack of hassle it provides.
- Daniela (10/5): - This is one of those beautifully maintained old Venetian hotels with gold borders and scrollwork, telling stories of Venice with the ambience.
The rooms are small, but beautifully furnished; the bathroom modern and updated.
The breakfast buffet and included coffee bar are great and have excellent choices. All the while you are sitting in a café style surrounding full of history.
The hotel also has access to a canal so you can conveniently call a water taxi to wherever you need to go, by just stepping out of the hotel directly onto a boat.
The albergo is located close to Piazza San Marco and not too far from ponte Rialto. By public transit this hotel is only about 200 meters away from Giglio (line 1 Lido vaporetto) station.
Just around the corner and over one small bridge are multiple options for choice of restaurant.
The Fenice Opera house can be seen from the back of the hotel and is just a short walk away.
The friendly staff and quiet location make this an excellent choice for your stay in Venice.
- Priyanka (10/5): - I have only positive things to say about this hotel! Between the staff (huge shout out to Antonio) and the cleanliness of the room, I can’t recommend this hotel more if you’re planning a trip to Venice
- Rosa (8/5): - Great location. Great breakfast selection, nice staff. Needs updating.
- Kevin (10/5): Great Hotel - I had stayed before and liked the location just a few minutes from San Marco. Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast. Will stay again when i next come to Venice.
- Diógenes (10/5): - Fantastic place. 100% recommended.
- RADIAN (10/5): - beautiful house, excellent location. extremely nice staff
- Michael (10/5): - It was a great experience, everyone was very nice and helpful, the Air conditioner worked great!!!
- Angela (10/5): - Fantastic location
- Christopher (10/5): - Very nice classic European hotel experience. The room was spacious and well cared for. The hotel has nice ambiance and the library bar was very unique. The staff was night and day though - 2 of the desk staff were the most helpful individuals and even mailed an item for us, 2 we snobby and stuck up and were offended that we were actually asking questions. But that for the lesson on the difference between water bus and water taxi.
- Su (10/5): - Amazing experience - beautiful view and the best service!
- Diana (10/5): - Fantastic location to walk to all attractions in St. Marks. Old world charm in the style of hotel decorations. Lovely garden tables. Absolutely amazing helpful front desk staff. They helped us find a way to the airport on our last day, which is a complicated task in Venice.
- Jeff (10/5): - Great!!!!
- Barbara (10/5): - Charming hotel and very, very nice staff and service.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Does not look like the photos, we upgraded to the nicest room and the floors and ceilings had holes in them. We booked a gondola thru the hotel they never showed up after an hour we ended up canceling it. There were spiders in the corners or the ceilings and windows. We asked for an extra pillow and they told us we would have to wait until the next day to receive it. I would not recommend staying at this hotel.
- jon (10/5): classic hotel - classic small venitian hotel...lovely building and room. great location - close to st mark's but away from the crowds. super helpful and friendly staff that give terrific recommendations. if you can take the water taxi from the airport and arrive at their back door on a small canal - great way to arrive in venice! we loved it. thanks antonio and the rest of your staff.
- Aura (10/5): - Amazing hotel, you feel really well taken care off from the moment you step in. The staff couldn’t be more nice and would go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. we stayed for a week in a charming double bedroom Venetian styled room. The hotel is really close to St Marks piazza , La Fenice theatre and all the amazing campo’s and bridges. Charming feature- the view to the canal and the singing of the gondoliers passing under your window. thank you to hotel staff from the bottom of our hearts ! Really nice unforgivable holiday !
- Brett (4/5): - I really never write negative reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience. I stayed at this hotel for two nights and woke up the first morning covered in mosquito bites—at least a dozen. I initially thought I had left the window open, but it was shut tight. Turns out, mosquitoes were somehow getting into the room, possibly through the vents or tiny gaps in the windows.
I reported it to the front desk, hoping for some understanding or even a simple apology, but the staff were fairly dismissive. The receptionist laughed and said “It’s a Venice problem.” as if being eaten alive overnight is part of the package deal. Highly doubt that’s the approach at every hotel in the city.
It’s incredibly frustrating to pay what we did and wake up itching and uncomfortable, only to have the hotel act like it’s not really a problem. I won’t be returning, and I’d advise others to think twice before booking here—especially if you value a good night’s sleep.
- Robert (8/5): - The hotel is a nice, comforting hotel. The staff was very polite, attentive and helpful. The breakfast was quite good if one purchased that option to be included. The only down sides were the water pressure of the shower, it was very weak. Also, we were unable to adjust the AC, likely user error. Unfortunately, we slept with the windows open and received many mosquito bites. However, I would recommend the hotel due to the kindness of the staff and the cleanliness.
- Olga (10/5): - Excellent hotel, location, stuff, breakfast.Great hotel in Victorian style.
- ILYA (10/5): - Great hotel. Very convenient location. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
- Elise (10/5): - An absolutely beautiful small hotel just a short walk from St. Mark's and an easy walk as well to a vaporetto stop. Friendly, knowledgeable staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We loved staying here.
- raul (8/5): - Front desk personal is amazing 👏👏
- John (10/5): - Great location for dining, shopping, sightseeing, and people watching! Extremely welcoming staff with great dining recommendations. Breakfast at the property was excellent.
- Lisette (10/5): - Location was super
- Raquel (10/5): Great location - Great location, walking distance to transportation, staff very helpful.
- Mark (8/5): - Room was a bit smaller than anticipated but not a problem since the only time I was in it was to sleep. Accommodations were neat and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. EXCELLENT location and close to Giglio water taxi stop. Overall a good experience. Would stay again.
- Dixie (10/5): - Staffs very accommodating and friendly, clean room and spacious, breakfast was amazing,I love their coffe. Their location is accessible to nearby stores, and tourists spots.Highly recommended 👍
- Steven T. (8/5): Very nice Venice hotel in the heart of the sites. - My stay at Albergo Bel e Berlino was very good. I loved the hotel and location to St Marks square. Once you understand which water taxi to get on, it was easy getting to the hotel. The Hotel was very nice, my room did not have a view. My shower was very small. I loved the hotel and would stay there again next time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay! - Great experience in this hotel! Great location, warm welcome and staff very thoughtful and helpful. Room in Venisian style, clean and warm. I felt like home!
- Olga (10/5): - Great location! Wonderful and kind staff!
- Simona (10/5): - Well maintained property. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfast.
- Stephen (4/5): Clean but run down. Needs major improvement. - Short walk from San Marco and convenience to the vaporetto are this place’s only real strengths. Like all of Venice, the prices are high- but for this money you can find much nicer places.
The rooms are generally very small. There’s not sufficient room for luggage for two people. Our room had a wardrobe but no closet. The bathroom was so tiny it was difficult to maneuver.
The real issue here, however, is maintenance. Hotels need upkeep. Walls and doors need to be painted regularly. Peeling paint needs to be stripped and replaced. Fixtures need to be kept tight. Exhaust fans need to be cleaned. Carpets need cleaning and eventual replacement. If you’re going to have fabric walls, those walls need to be cleaned and refreshed.
It should be noted that the staff, especially the housekeeping staff (linens, towels, etc.), is quite good. But they are fighting an uphill battle with the physical condition of the property.
- Tyson (10/5): - An excellent hotel within walking distance to all sights in Venice. Great staff, breakfast and service.
- Cynthia (10/5): - Albergo Bel Sito managed to accommodate a last-minute reservation, and I arrived having some mild trepidation about booking into a small hotel in Venice, sight unseen. Boy, did I luck out!!! The Bel Sito may be a three star, but the staff treated me (and each guest I encountered) like we were rock stars. There is no part of this boutique hotel that is not charming and very Venetian. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, and I enjoyed it every morning. Loved having a spritz or glass of wine in the bar or at one of the outdoor tables facing Santa Maria del Giglio. My room, a single with canal view, was small but very well appointed with a compact ensuite bathroom that had everything you could possibly need/want. The bed was comfortable but could use fluffier pillows (my only minor inconvenience). My friend, who was in an apartment nearby, was made welcome every time she came to meet me. We both felt like the staff at the Bel Sito went above and beyond to make my stay in Venice comfortable and delightful.
- Bill (10/5): - A very nice boutique hotel in a really great location. 2 minute walk from boat drop off /pick up, close to many key spots in San Marco. Only issue was weak hot water pressure. I read this on other Italy hotel reviews so it must be common there.
- Tracy (10/5): - Hotel was in a perfect location. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic. Staff was a pleasure professional courteous and really took hospitality to a level hard to find.
- Maurice (8/5): - Charming small boutique hotel. If you can deal with tight quarters and small bathroom then you will love the hotel. However things are very very small and tiny by any US standard.
- Roselle (10/5): - A charming hotel with wonderful people. Clean, comfortable, and in the best location. I hope to return many times!
- jenn (10/5): - Great location, just one minute from the vaporetto station! The STAFF is amazing!! So helpful and friendly! Best in Venice!
- Jesse (10/5): - This is a great centralized location close to all the main attractions. The hotel is surrounded by numerous stores and restaurants. Very walkable and easy to navigate .
Coming from the US, the rooms are much smaller than we are accustomed to but it was clean and had the necessary amenities.
The staff was personable and friendly! Although our stay was short we thoroughly enjoyed it.
- Zeynab (8/5): - Loved the place, staff, location. Room and bathroom small but thats expected.
- Michelle (10/5): - FRONT STAFF WHERE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. AREA WAS SAFE AND EASY TO GET TO FROM WATERBUS AND WALKING. GREAT HOTEL.
- Monika (10/5): - Beautiful place, lovely staff and is located about five minutes of Plaza San Marco
- Elizabeth (10/5): - The staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.
- Ejaz (10/5): - The property is beautiful and gives the feel of Venice. It’s in a quaint square opposite a church and borders one of the canals.
We could see gondolas passing by.
Breakfast was good, staff really amazing and the room was clean, with a great ambience.
- wasim (10/5): - All great
- Paola (10/5): - Great place, clean, friendly just 5 min from Piazza San Marco!
- Alice (10/5): - LOVELY staff who are extremely friendly, kind, and patient.
Beautiful, old-fashioned decor everywhere (in a good way).
Location is unbeatable: both convenient AND quiet and peaceful.
Great breakfast. I especially loved the grilled vegetables.
One tiny note: the bathroom floor was extremely slippery. May be worth putting in something grippy.
- Loraine (6/5): - Nice little hotel. Room a little dated but is ok. Breakfast was amazing and the location is perfect. You can also purchase tickets for the water taxi at the hotel to the airport. Would book again
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very good but grubby in places - Staff and service were excellent. Very friendly and obliging. Location is excellent. The room was very small and the bathroom was the smallest I’ve encountered anywhere. Was a little grubby in places. Dirt and scuffs on the walls and doors etc. There was a layer of dust in some areas and missing tile in the bathroom etc. If you wanted a hot shower the water would only come out in a trickle. If you wanted any pressure the water would be very cold. We did raise these issues but no remedy was offered. Another issue we had with a leaking air conditioning unit was fixed promptly. Breakfast was good, albeit a bit random with some of its offerings - such as chicken wings etc. All in all, good value for Venice in the high summer. A few small tweaks with attention to detail would make it perfect.

- Troy (10/5): - Amazing Venice experience at a GREAT price! The hotel and staff we're amazing! I would stay here again any time and would refer it to my closest friends. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The room was a little small but very clean and cozy. If you are looking for a giant suite for the kids, go to Disneyworld. If you are looking for a great experience and ambiance in Venice at a great price, stay here. Loved it!
- Catherine (10/5): - Right across from a beautiful old church. Loved location and easy to walk to St. Marks square.
- Linda (10/5): - Front desk staff made our stay an excellent one. They were always so helpful and kind with all of our questions. We have nothing but nice things to say! We’d stay again.
- ANISSA (10/5): - Beautiful old hotel, but comfortable, clean and located in a great area.
- Sun (10/5): - The hotel is close to the most of the major attraction. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The bathroom is clean and new looked like it just renovated. The bar at the hotel served good beer with reasonable price.
- Nadine (6/5): - Nicely situated
Clean
- Lesley (10/5): - Very pretty hotel lovely staff nice area would stay there again aircon the quietest I've ever known so very easy to sleep. Also was in a quiet area which always helps
- Donna (10/5): Venice hotel - The rooms were pretty and so clean. The staff was so friendly, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was great too. Would definitely recommend. Great location too.
- Robert (8/5): - Overall the 2 night stay was excellent. Really central and convenient for water bus.
- Robert (10/5): - Central. Has its own water taxi entrance. Very helpful staff. Very comfortable double room. Quiet
- Adam (8/5): - Everyone was very friendly n accomodating.
- Taya-Rae (10/5): - Convenient location. Accommodating staff.
- María Gladys (10/5): - Very nice expirence! It was a pleasure to been there. Employees are excellent! Very friendly. The hotel is an amazing.
- Michael (8/5): Overzealous clerk should use situational awarenes. - The room & bathroom were super small but clean. Cute little terrace that overlooked rooftops but the vegetation and smell of flowers made it ‘grow’ on us. Only 1 thing made our visit unpleasant and that was an overzealous, late night desk employee who lectured me about “disturbing the peace” of other guests by finishing the last quarter of my cigar before we entered the hotel on the patio out front. I am 65 years old and sat for ONE SECOND before he came outside to confront me. He was condescending and rude and I let him know I hadn’t made a sound only wanted to finish before going to bed. I told him he should use “common sense” and that I was not some, 20-yr-old wanting to “keep the party going.” Totally foolish and insulting. He said, “This is how we like it in Venice, nice and quiet after midnight.” And I swear, I hadn’t made a peep! Foolish wat to treat a customer, I say.
- Michael (8/5): Overzealous clerk should use situational awarenes. - The room & bathroom were super small but clean. Cute little terrace that overlooked rooftops but the vegetation and smell of flowers made it ‘grow’ on us. Only 1 thing made our visit unpleasant a that was the treatment by an overzealous night desk clerk. Now, before he (or they) retaliate after my comments, which I find very tacky for hotels to do, I must set up what happened: After a late arrival on our first night and a late dinner with a long walk, with jet-lag AND I walk with a cane… needless to say, we were very tired when we got back to the Bel Sito. They have patio furniture that they keep secured with a cable. Now it is midnight and I have about 1/4 of my cigar left and decided to finish it before I went up to the room with my wife. NOBODY was around. The desk clerk came out and asked if I stay at the hotel and I told him that we were, and he started lecturing me about how they believe in respecting their guests peace a quiet and this is the way Venice acts after hours… I was to leave the area or go up to my room. I sat there and looked at him… I’m like, “Dude, I am your CUSTOMER, and furthermore I’m not some 18-yr-old blasting a stereo or guffawing with friends. A cigar is made for peace and quiet and I resent your condescending attitude towards me. I mean, use some common sense man, I said if this is the way you treat an older (65) customer, I think maybe we’ll look for a new hotel in the morning-not cool. And I hobbled away to finish my cigar.
- Greg (8/5): - Good central location with a taxi/bus stop 2 minutes walk. Staff was excellent and the breakfast superbly displayed. Cute restaurant within the hotel and lovely setting for evening beverages. Elevator on property snd comfy rooms. Thank you Bel Sito
- Deborah (8/5): - I would like to give this property 5 stars because of how friendly and helpful the staff is. But the bathroom in the room prevents me. Mind you, everything was quite clean, but the size of the shower was 2 ft. by 2 ft. Seriously. My husband is 6 ft. 4. I felt terrible for him trying to clean. If it were just me traveling I would return to this hotel. Otherwise, it's a no-go.
- Lisa (10/5): - Beautiful Venetian style hotel. Only 35 rooms and so it feels very personable. The staff are so attentive, friendly and helpful and are always on hand to make you feel welcome. Our room was perfect - overlooking the beautiful architecture of the church opposite. Breakfast was good. The hotel is situated in San Marco which is a perfect base to walk to all the nearby places of intetest. The waterbus stop is one minute away, so easy to access from the airport. We went on a delightful Gondala ride that we picked up alongside one of the neighbouring bridges.
I would recommend Hotel Bel Sito to anyone and I hope to return one da
- Dominick (10/5): - Great property and very kind staff
- CEMIL (10/5): - it was great. staff are really helpfull.
- TOM (10/5): - easy walk to vaporetto and San Marco. Lots of great shopping. The church across the street is wonderful trove of art.
- Sarah (10/5): Felt So Luxurious - Amazing experience. The staff was very helpful and the stay felt so luxurious! Would definitely stay again and wish we had time to try the breakfast buffet.
We loved that it was close to Theatro Fenice. Beautiful venue! Also an easy walk to Doge’s Palace and Saint Mark’s
- Robert (10/5): - Nice staff
- Ardeshir (10/5): - Excellent experience! Would come back next time.
- JARED ROBERT (10/5): - Amazing hotel in every single way. Right in the center of everything. Staff go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The rooms are very clean and well taken care of.
- Melanie (8/5): - Perfect for a few days of exploring Venice. Location was short walking distance to all of the tourist attractions while not being in an overly busy area. Definitely recommend if you want a cute stay that won’t break the bank in a convenient location.
- Ke (8/5): - very close to the water bus to and from the airport. The Giglio stop is only 3 minutes walk. Didn't need to go far with luggage and back pack it's conveniently located. The walls of the room is a bit thin. You could literally listen to the conversations. Fortunately after 10:00 it has quieted down.
- David (6/5): - Older building,small rooms.
Staff is friendly and helpful.
Better to go out for breakfast than pay $18.00 Euro at the hotel.
Lots of restaurants and shopping close by.
- Linda (10/5): - The staff was incredibly helpful when I got pickpocketed.
- Frances (8/5): - Excellent location close to the Giglio vaporetto stop and, more importantly, no bridges to cross with your luggage. Easy walking distance to all the sights and close to high end shops if that is your thing.
Breakfast was a bit disappointing but the coffee was excellent.
- Anthony (10/5): - The staff and service here are top notch!
- Verified traveler (10/5): * Wonderful stay at this fantastic hotel! * - Our time at Albergo Bel Sito e Berlino was excellent! The hotel is beautifully decorated in ornate vintage Venetian style furnishings with a pretty lobby lovely, peaceful common areas to relax in, and small cozy bar area. There is also a delightful inner courtyard garden with tables and chairs open day and night for further relaxation after a hectic day wandering around busy Venice. The breakfasts were extensive with various special dishes that varied each day as well as daily eggs, potatoes, bacon, cereals, breads, pastries, yogurt, juices, etc and of course made-to-order delicious cappuncini. Our room was spacious and gorgeous with a view of the church opposite the hotel. The room was well appointed with mini fridge, coffee/tea maker, plenty of storage, large flat-screen tv, and excellent air conditioning. The bathroom was wonderful - beautiful, large and modern with a walk-in shower with excellent water pressure. The staff were all very professional, polite, very helpful and always smiling. Dear staff member Ashan was especially delightful and we enjoyed seeing him each day. We loved this hotel and look much forward to again returning - this is the only Venice hotel we wish to stay in! Thank you owner and staff of Albergo Bel Sito e Berlino for a wonderful, magical stay in your beautiful hotel! Sincerely, Veronica.

- Paul (10/5): - Really convenient for the water taxis and for visiting St Mark's etc. Very friendly and helpful staff. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in (and I've done a LOT) and the air conditioning etc worked well. We opted for included breakfast and that was pleasant. Not amazing but certainly good enough to set you up for the day and was tasty and good quality. We loved our stay in this hotel and would certainly stay in it again.
