Guest Reviews
- Lily (4/5): - Liked the view - Villa is on a hill and you can see the city and the ocean. Didn't like pretty much anything else. The 3-person room was tiny, with really steep and unsafe staircase leading to the attic area, where the 3rd bed was located. Our teen managed them, but they definitely would be treacherous for a younger child or an older adult. WiFi accessible only via special crazy long code, different for every device. We had to choose our breakfast at the time of check in and to commit to a specific time in the morning to get them. There was absolutely no food available during the day, and the hotel is really far from everything. Bathroom hand soap was just a jar of a cheap industrial stuff, etc, etc.
- philip (6/5): Could be great - The hotel has an amazing view overlooking Malaga, I would have thought that this would be the main focus of everything in the hotel.
However when we asked for our breakfast to be served on the patio we were refused because it seemed to much hassle to move a few table cloths and that other guest may request the Same.
Breakfast was at best average, I small rasher of bacon, a hot dog and scrambled egg microwaved, and store bought orange juice.
Because of this we decided not to eat at the restaurant.
This place could be so much better, I hope the management takes my review in good faith and wish them success.
- Barbara (10/5): - Lovely property with the art of the owner. Quiet, perched on top of a small mountain. Windy road to get there but they have parking on site-a plus for us.
Delicious dinner overlooking Malaga
- Francine (10/5): - We had a lovely stay at this boutique hotel. Lester at the reception desk was exceptionally kind and attentive to our needs.
As we arrived hungry in mid afternoon, we were disappointed to learn that the dining room was closed until 7pm. Lester came to our rescue. The cook agreed to open the dining room just for us and Lester acted as our waiter. We had a fabulous meal, with delicious food and a beautiful view of the city. Well, this is what I call a 5* service!
With respect to the the room was small but very well appointed.
I highly recommend this hotel; it earns a 5* across the board!
- David (10/5): - Beautiful property on the hill above Malaga. Fantastic view over the city. Excellent restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff. Our second time staying here and would definitely stay again.
- Gustavo (10/5): - This is an amazing place. It has gorgeous views and the staff is incredible. It requires a car and trips downtown are 10-15 mins but that’s part of the charm. We had a nice dinner at its restaurant!!
- P3798PXangelad (10/5): Hotel Guadalupe August 2024 - Stayed at Hotel Guadalupe August 10th 2024 for 3 nts. Small boutique type hotel. Only approx 10 rooms. We were on 2nd floor. Amazing view of city from balcony.
Staff ( Jesus, Alex and Cuba).very friendly and helpful.
Room was a little small. Could use some updating but it was fine.
Has a salt water pool. We generally had it to ourselves most of the time. Well maintained. Lounge chairs around pool and a few tables and chairs with umbrellas.not the best view. Bushes cover the view of the houses in front.
Each day we walked from hotel to streets below. Very steep hills. Approx 20- 30 min walk. A little longer to walk back up. Great exercise.
The hotel has 1 restaurant. Beautiful set up for meals with amazing views.
Same foods offered for lunch and dinner. Not much variety. Suggest they offer a different lighter lunch menu.
We chose to walk to main street for meals. Only ate at this restaurant once.
We would recommend a short visit here. Very quiet and peaceful.
- DisneyNorwich_UK (10/5): Beautiful hotel up above Malaga - Only 15 mins from the airport up narrow residential roads in the hills above Malaga. We were lucky hotel was quiet so could park right outside the entrance otherwise not much parking space. Fantastic views night and day out to sea above Malaga. Our room was lovely, underfloor heating in bathroom, great shower, nice large balcony. Breakfast very good, you choose the night before which option you want from 3 offerings. Restaurant overlooking Malaga, very good, delicious paella, very reasonably priced food and wines. Delicious pineapple dessert! Rustic feel in rooms and would most definitely stay again if we go back to Malaga. Although you’d need a car or use taxis/Uber. Staff all helpful and friendly.
- Robert (10/5): - The entire staff made me feel like "familia!" And it was sincere from each member of the staff.
Bravo y gracias Villa Guadalupe! Muchas gracias.
- Jeff (8/5): Very nice. Great staff - Really nice little hotel outside of the busy city center. Great view of the coast from high atop a hill. Very friendly staff and excellent restaurant. We had a rental car so we were looking for easy, free parking. Only complaint would be the hard mattress but that wouldn't stop us from staying again. If you’re looking to get out if the city for day trips this is a great option.
- Jinguo (10/5): - Situated on the top of the mountain which makes the location unique. Nice view.
- Michael (4/5): not really balcony room - Booked double room and believed the photos showing the rooms but at the end they only have small amount of rooms with balcony
- JOSEPH (10/5): - Great views, beautiful restaurant. Super clean, and very friendly and helpful sraff. A 5 stars hotel for me.
- lavenderjoh (10/5): Great place to stay - We had a wonderful 11 night stay here recently and enjoyed the entire stay. Service is good, property is clean and well kept, beds comfortable, bathroom a good size and the balcony is huge. We would walk down to the bus stop but take a taxi back up after a day of sightseeing. I don't manage hills well and it is steep so after a day on my feet it was easier to have a taxi. Nice location in quiet residential area. Restaurant is first class. They even did some laundry for us. Host surprised me by speaking Dutch which isn't a language spoken much outside Holland. My background comes from the Netherlands so hearing him speak the language was a nice surprise even though I myself don't speak it well. We enjoyed our entire time in Malaga and recommend this hotel without reservation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It’s just a magical place, lovely location overlooking Malaga in the hills and gorgeous restaurant, would go back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic hotel, clean, great customer service, good location. If your going to Malaga this is a wonderful place to stay. The hotel and Malaga was great!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice clean rooms, wonderful stuff and very good food at the restaurant.
- travels039 (10/5): Loved it! - Great hotel and restaurant. Our room had a good size balcony and amazing views of Malaga. Bathroom was a good size, the bed comfy and wardrobes a good size (we asked for more coathangers and these were provided straight away). Would be good to have a mirror in the bedroom as the only one is in the bathroom.
Breakfast was great with a nice variety and served to you. The restaurant serves wonderful food and it was good to see so many people travelling eapecially to this restaurant - it clearly has a good reputation with the locals too.
Having read some other reviews we thought the road would not be suitable for walking to the bus stop but it was fine. Yes it is steep but very quiet residential area with not too much traffic on the road. Taxi's are very easy to source and reception are very happy to help with this.
On a couple of ocassions during the day we walked to the small town down the hill and had coffee, food and tapas at various establishments.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and restaurant.
- Verified (10/5): - Great styling of the facilities, wonderful staff and immaculately clean. There not much to do in the surrounding neighborhood, but it is very near to both the airport and train station.
- DDTMd (10/5): Wonderful hotel with amazing views! - The Guadalupe Hotel has an amazing location and breathtaking views of Malaga, both from the restaurant and each room. It's a bit far from the center of the city, but that offers quiet sleep, a calm environment and parking. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and each has a wonderful balcony that must be wonderful during summer. Breakfast is great with plenty of choices, including local food and plenty of fruit and pastry. Will definitely recommend and would love to come back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Located on a hill on the outskirts of Malaga, this place is more like a Bed and Breakfast. The room and bathroom were clean. The view from the room and the terrace was nice. Our room had a loft with a bed for the third adult. The front desk staff were courteous. Unlike many other hotels in Southern Spain, this one offers four set breakfast menus to choose from. We had the continental breakfast which was nice. Parking was free and was right in front of the property on a gravel patch. A good stop on the way from Granada to Cadiz. We stopped in Malaga so that we could see Gibraltar on our way to Cadiz.
- alickh2015 (10/5): Great Restaurant For A Birthday Meal - This is the 2nd time we visited the hotel restaurant as we were impressed on our 1st visit. Our first time was during the day and this was an evening and the views are stunning either way. The restaurant is out of town but worth the trip as you have stunning views of the 'Malaga bowl' to the sea. Not only are the views stunning but the restaurant serves food to match! A wide and varied menu and the food is excellent both in flavours and presentation. The staff are attentive, friendly but not over bearing. If you're looking for something different out of town and away from the hustle and bustle you could do a lot worse than going here.
- GirlOffTheGrid (10/5): Felt like a pampered guest in a Spain Villa - Spent first night in Spain at Hotel Villa Guadalupe. Perfect choice! A short taxi ride (15 minutes) from the airport and you feel like you've arrived at a private villa. Very quiet. Rooms were very comfortable and slept well (despite the jet lag). The view of the pool and Malaga from my room were fabulous. Had a lovely breakfast in the dining room and sat out on the back veranda (by myself) for several hours taking in the view. The history and artwork is an added plus to this gem. Will definitely be back for a longer visit!
- Kastaar2010 (10/5): Lovely hotel with stunning views - Villa Guadelupe is a welcome change from traditional hotel locations and layouts.
We spent our first and last night here when doing a fly & drive through Andalusia starting from Málaga. The hotel is a 15 min. drive from the airport, located atop of a hill in a residential suburb but you can conveniently park your rental car in the hotel's courtyard/driveway.
Views from the hotel's terrace or indoor restaurant are simply stunning, and the cuisine (restaurant Amador, named after the chef) truly enjoyable.
Traveling with our 7y old, we were given room nr 2 with extra beds on the mezzanine. The room was spotless and featured similar views over Málaga as from the restaurant.
Best of all, we were welcomed and helped by friendly staff who didn't mind switching to English after we were done with the very few Spanish words we knew...
I would certainly come back here when traveling through Málaga.
- Janell (10/5): Villa Guadalupe is perfection. - Beautiful boutique hotel above Málaga. 15 minute cab ride from the airport. The views, art and restaurant are all top notch.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The aspect was stunning and its proximity to the airport was helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property was clean, staff were charming, room was comfortable. Views were spectacular and there was a lovely pool for cooling off. Breakfast was very nice.
- Robert (8/5): Ok, But Could Have Been Better - Room small but adequate. Continental breakfast the same 3 choices every day. Pool small, but nice, except for lots of flies from next door dump. Also the hotel charged 2 euros for pool towels. Great views from mediocre expensive restaurant.
- Kingpaul100 (10/5): The wedding cake hotel ! - I call this the Wedding Cake Hotel as its structure resembles a traditional iced wedding cake ! Located outside of Malaga city and with amazing views over the city and out over the Med. Family owned and operated. Surprisingly only a 3 star property on the international scale. Small swimming pool. Wonderful pink marble flooring. They also have the most wonderful restaurant which attracts many clients / non residents from Malaga city and gets great reviews. Amazing views from the terrace. Restaurant has an excellent reputation but the hotel seems to be a bit of a secret ?? Some lovely
artwork in hotel. If you arrive by car I
would still recommend taxi or bus into
Malaga City - they have beem extending
the metro/ underground to the cruise
terminal for some time know- seems like
forever !! Driving in Malaga city not really
advisable unless u have to ! It is possible to have a peacful and relaxing stay here yet still enjoy the husstle and hustle of old Malaga.
- 88AVANTI (8/5): Cozy and Comfortable - VG is a small hotel, way uphill in the western section of Malaga and everything you'll want to do is a 10 to 20 minute drive away. But that also means you are apart from the very bustling city and have pretty much uninterrupted peace and quiet. The free parking is right outside the entrance which comes in handy for (un)loading. The rooms are on the small side, but adequate. There are no outdoor public spaces, except for a small pool, which is quite nice for cooling down after a hot day's sightseeing and a terrace where you can take your drinks and/or have lunch. There are only a few staff members and they do double duty at the reception desk and as waiters in the hotel's upscale restaurant. Nonetheless, they are friendly and helpful and you never wait very long for anything. There is also a spectacular view of the city and sea that you can enjoy while eating the adequate but unchanging included continental breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Adorable hotel up in the hills with a beautiful view of the city. Room was small but setting was quaint and cozy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Having the balcony.. and a large one was wonderful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved the view from the eating area. Shower head was not the best
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Gorgeous room, gorgeous property, pool lovely, restaurant wonderful - wish we had spent more than one night here. Would be happy to stay here in the future.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was amazing! The food was amazing! The view was breathtaking. It only cost 12E ish to get an uber into Malaga. Extra thanks to the staff for helping us on several occasions. Muchas Gracias!
- Leahyrebecca2018 (10/5): Outstanding 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 - Beautiful place so peaceful. The views were amazing and the staff were so lovely and helpful. The room was very spacious. The breakfast was delicious and the restaurant attached was fabulous. The views were the main attraction and the peace and quiet.
- 324lindsayh (10/5): Incredible View! - I loved this hotel. I arrived at midnight and staff kindly made me a snack and I sat in the very elegant restaurant and gazed at an incredible view of Malaga spread out below us with the sea in the distance. I then discovered that my double room had quietly been upgraded to a junior suite with plenty of space, an attractive en suite and a large terrace overlooking the same stunning view. I had a very comfortable night and have booked this again in September. The staff were exceptionally kind.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved it! The staff was wonderful, the view beautiful, and food great
- Wendy (10/5): Great view - Our stay was just what we were looking for arrived in afternoon, hotel had lovely location up on hill, amazing view over city, restaurant was fantastic
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The view was great, the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was good and the rooms were ideal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great views! - Great hotel for adults, not so much for families with kids. Not a lot of parking and weekends can be a challenge if the restaurant is full. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Secluded and not in a touristy area. We wanted it like that. The views from the balcony are fantastic!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hotel, although not in the center, rewards you with stunning views, quiet rooms (with quiet slow closing doors), elegant decor, extremely kind and helpful staff all made my stay in Malaga special. Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Will return - The staff are wonderful. Breakfast is great. The view from the breakfast table is wonderful. Inexpensive mini bar.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel is about 5 miles from centre of Malaga, which we knew, but there is a long very steep walk to the nearest bus stop. Didn't like the breakfast. It is not buffet breakfast which is normal these days. The staff are good but its better to serve yourself a coffee when you want rather than have to ask. There are 3 set choices for breakfast. Often they include a bit of what you want and a bit of what you don't. Orange juice is only available with one of these choices. Bread only with two. Never was able to get sliced bread to make toast.
- Humz (8/5): - Lovely boutique hotel. Great views of Malaga. Rooms are quite small but comfortable. Service is great, staff are welcoming and helpful
Breakfast there isnt much choice, very simple breakfast. Location is z little out from main centre of Malaga but only 10mins taxi drive. Not far from airport either
Overall our stay was pleasant
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is amazing, really good restaurants ...best service... and I love the view to the city
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect little break - We flew to Malaga, stayed in the Hotel Villa Guadalupe and loved it. We had our daughter with us and they couldn’t have done more for her. They had a nice pool, amazing food and it was a short journey to Malaga Centre by bus
- Teddy (10/5): Lovely views and lovely.food. - Staff were friendly and very helpful. We walked down to catch the bus into town but couldn't face the climb back. Taxis are easy to come by and cost 8 euros per trip. We ate at the hotel because the food was so good. We upgraded our room on arrival for an extra 10 euros per night. Was worth for the balcony and the views.
- ken (10/5): Always excellent - Great location & always a good experience !Easy to get to airport & great views
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel however it was a bit far from the city center.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Impressive position high above Malaga.
friendly helpful staff.
Good restauant
- Sandra (8/5): Nice Hotel, situated up in the hills. - Nice Hotel situated up in the hills of Malaga, you really need a car to get around as walking up would be impossible!
The views from the restaurant are stunning, which is defiantly their USP!
The pool area is small but perfect for the amount of guests, and there is a honesty bar which is nice.
The food in the restaurant is very nice too, but quite pricey.
Rooms were basic and beds reasonably comfortable, Air con didn't work all that great.
There is a kettle but only glasses and fruit tea which was a bit weird.
I was disappointed with the room maids, cups were left, glasses were not cleaned and tea bags still there on the tray, they did the bare minimum.
most evenings we got a taxi into town, but costs varied and on average cost 12 euros each way, so quite a bit to add on to your daily spend.
I think there must of been a dog shelter somewhere, as every night and morning there was a chorus of dogs barking, lasting about 20 mins or so.
- PeterC (8/5): - Small and stunningly beautiful hotel in a remote but select location out of town. Very friendly staff, warm welcome and superb food. Incredible views. Only minus point for us was disturbance from doors slamming and people talking loudly and having sex till late at night. Still, great that hey were enjoying their holiday!
- Caroline (8/5): - Very nice hotel , rooms quite small, nice breakfast and small but clean pool. Rooms clean. Not near main tourist attractions takes about 30 mins in car. Peaceful
- CAJ (10/5): - Beautiful location, helpful, friendly staff, amazing food and great views over Malaga.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful, comfortable and perfect in every possible way. We could not have been more pleased.
- David (8/5): Serene with spectacular views - A quiet location to the NE of Malaga. We enjoyed far reaching views. Staff friendly and helpful. Food all freshly cooked
A place to revisit
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel with great views of Malaga - Loved all of the art work around the hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff, rom was a good size & very clean. We had an early departure so missed breakfast. Evening meal was lovely in the dining room overlooking Malaga.
- AMJR (10/5): Truly a gem! - What a great place to stay at in Malaga. Truly a gem! Away from the busy centro area, yet easy to get to. I walked down to the bus stop every morning to get to the centro district and took a taxi on the way back. The views from the hotel are astonishing.
- Yellowspace (8/5): Nice 3 star on the hills - Nice hotel on the hills overlooking Malaga and a distant sea view. The beds are firm, pillows ok, room nice a clean. We had dinner here during our stay, the food was nice but slightly more expensive than I would expect. Dinner for 2 with starter, main, desert and wine approx €96. Friendly, happy staff made us feel at home and were attentive.
- Cheryl (10/5): Wonderful experience - The hotel was lovely, staff are amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. Food exceptional a most pleasant experience and we cannot wAit to return.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very good experience - Great Food. Average Rooms. Very good service.
- Keith (8/5): A night in Malaga - Used as a stopover between Malaga and a week in the mountains, it proved an excellent choice. The staff went out of their way to make us welcome, explain what they could offer and ensure we had a pleasant stay. Would thoroughly recommend.
It's not, though, near the centre but therefore is ideal for peace and quiet and also for an easy getaway when leaving.
- Kathryn (10/5): Give this a try!! - High up on a hill, peaceful and serene, gorgeous view. Need a car - but that helps for the complete Costa del Sol region as well. Ask the hotel to guide you in from the airport (which we forgot to do) - it took us several wrong turns to find the right ones! Staff in dining room and front desk are very helpful, happy and accommodating. Beautiful time looking back and one of our favourite stays for sure! November is a little quieter too so that helped. Had the pool to ourselves and the weather was still hot.
- wallace (10/5): Very nice hotel, quiet,
- We were arriving in Spain from Canada , took train and taxi to hotel, We were received by Seby very nice person, helpful. Slept very well, had lunch at hotel , superb food.Room are clean view is amazing of Malaga, yes you would need a car if you stay there for many days but for us it was perfect as we move to anoher location to a timeshare on the coast. All the staff were very attentive .
- tim (10/5): Lovely location - Stayed one night on way to airport. We had a delicious eve meal, a comfy clean room and enjoyed our stay. The only criticism was the limited and overpriced set breakfast menu. The idea of three options with no choice to vary without extra cost was disappointing. Service was very friendly . Everything was very clean.
- Annette (10/5): Spectacular views over Malaga - This is a lovely hotel located high up on one of the hills on the outskirts of Malaga. The views to the coast over the town from the dining room are spectacular. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming,
- Simon (10/5): Jewel in the Crown - We had spent ten days on the Andalusia tour at a number of 4 star hotels arrived here a little early, but were treated like long lost friends. Spent a long afternoon in the great secluded quiet pool area most relaxing afternoon in years.
Made the very wise choice of booking for dinner don't miss this opportunity it is a wonderful restaurant with a very special chef. Could not have had a better ending to our tour, very lucky with this choice. This is a must booking before you climb aboard your plane home.
- Brian (8/5): Gem of a hotel - Location a little difficult to find but worth the effort. We found it a good base for visiting Seville, Granada etc. with easy access to Malaga Airport. The view of Malaga at night was amazing. We were located in a separate villa from the main hotel and whilst pleasant there were a lot of steps to climb with luggage so not suitable for everyone. If you have any mobility issues it would probably be best to tell the staff in advance and they would accommodate you appropriately.
The breakfast was a little disappointing with the cooked section cold and swimming in fat and oil. The dinners were far better but for the four days of our visit the menu was the same.
- Remi (8/5): Great Hotel - Nice hotel, great view from our room and from the terrace restaurant, reception and restaurant staff were excellent. I would recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We very much enjoyed this place. The location is great, nice view and quiet
- Carol (10/5): Excellent hotel, recommend dinner here. - Staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool area was small but great - we had it to ourselves! The whole hotel excellent as was dinner. Our table had a beautiful view of night over Malaga.
Would highly recommend a stay here.
- Steve (8/5): Good Hotel with panoramic views - More of a restaurant with rooms. The views are stunning but the elevated position make it a little remote. The rooms are perfectly adequate but the public areas are restricted because of the scale of the building. The price was very reasonable and the breakfast includes hot and cold choices satisfying most peoples requirements. The major disappointment was that we were disturbed by noise, both people and dogs, in the early hours.
- Julie (10/5): Great hotel - Very well maintained hotel with friendly staff and fantastic views from bedrooms and restaurant. I was happy to walk up and down hill sometimes twice a day to catch the bus into the city as it is a lovely walk but might be very hard to do in the summer heat. Obviously not a problem if you have a car. Staff were even happy to help me practise my Spanish! Breakfast also excellent with a choice of an extensive buffet and/or eggs every day for a cost of only 10 Euros. Beautiful dining rooms and lounge.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A little off the beaten track, but... - Great villa hotel on a hillside overlooking Malaga. The views are great, and the pool is ideal after a day's sightseeing. The staff were really friendly. I'd strongly recommend this place, and would visit again.
- brian from USA (10/5): Lovely hotel In quiet hilltop area with great view - Great stay at a very reasonable price with a delicious breakfast
- Jennifer (10/5): Superb Solo break... - In one word 'Superb'..
The rooms, the staff, the food, the wines..... Everything was beautiful and no request was every too much trouble for the lovely staff, who obviously love working there. Each meal was a treat and as a solo traveler i really enjoyed the little amuse bouche which the chef sent to my table each evening. The views were breathtaking and the rooms spotless. I will be back to enjoy the hotel again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A relaxing hotel with amazing views of Malaga - We stayed for 2 nights and had breakfast included. The room was air conditioned, spotlessly clean and had a large shady balcony with wonderful views. A fridge would have been useful. The hotel is on the outskirts of Malaga in a residential area so a car or taxi is needed as it is up a VERY steep hill. There is a small swimming pool which is well maintained and has wonderful views. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was average but the evening meal was excellent.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Ratings rigged? - Difficult to believe previous ratings are legit
What more can I say?
- jdrufc5 (10/5): Excellent hotel and worth every penny. - We stayed here for 6 days in a family room; 2 adults and 1 teenager. The children's rooms were at the top of a flight of stairs within the bedroom. Our daughter had no problem with them and she enjoyed her annex at the top of the stairs and the amazing view over the city of Malaga. The beds were comfortable, the room spotless and the staff were super-friendly and helpful.
We made use of the lovely swimming pool that is on site, to cool down at the end of our sightseeing trips. Likewise we twice ate at the Amador Restaurant which forms part of the hotel G. The food served here was exquisite and out of this world. It is frequented by visiting tourists and locals alike. We had everything from duck, to Sea-bream and Angus Short-rib, all of which were delicious. The puddings were equally as mouth-watering. It is great to eat a quality meal, full of flavour and textures and feel completely satisfied at the end - full, yet not bloated or with a leaden stomach. I would recommend this restaurant even if you didn't stay at the hotel. It is also reasonably priced with the meat dishes at about €20 to €25.
The breakfasts at Hotel G. were tasty, filling, varied and plentiful. It's a continental theme, though one could also order eggs (to one's liking) and select from a range of cold meats and cheeses. The best part of breakfast was the coffee which was simply 1st-class, my wife and I were both in agreement that it was the best part of what was an excellent & value for money b'fast.
- Libby (10/5): Malaga getaway. - Lovely hotel. All the staff are so friendly and helpful.
Nice little pool area and wonderful views from the restaurant.
- Karen (6/5): Hotel situated overlooking Malaga - Stunning location overlooking Malaga. Small hotel with friendly staff. Quite location once everyone had gone to bed and the doors stopped slamming :) Rooms clean, but basic.
- Brian (10/5): Stunning views over Malaga - excellent in all aspects - cleanliness, service + facilities.
restaurant food and service were first class.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel with a great restaurant. - A good hotel. Rooms comfortable. Staff excellent. Restaurant wonderful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice and comfort stay - The room was in good condition with a large balcony and great view of Malaga. The service was good and warm. The setting of restaurant was great but the price was a little expensive comparing with the quality.
- Peter and Mary (8/5): Beautiful hotel in a very nice location - Very pleasant personnel, excellent food and comfortable room.
Only stayed two days but could easily have stayed longer time permitting.
- Deepak (10/5): Fab hotel, fab location great staff and super food - I say that if I ever go back to Malaga it will be only to this hotel. Actually this hotel may be the reason to go back to Malaga.Incomparable views, nice non touristy location, staff all out to please right from arrival to departures.
The restaurant has great views too including the terrace and the chef goes out of his way to make what you ask for. The staff are excellent and take care of every request.
It is a fantastic 3 star property so do not expect frills normally in a five star but the rooms, bathrooms and property are spotlessly clean and decorated very beautifully. The rooms is serviced by housekeeping everyday and toiletries are well stocked.
There are some reviews which have mentioned sounds from other rooms - yes you do hear them but it is a small factor to ignore looking at the whole package.
- lunevalley rambler (8/5): we came back-for last night before flight home - Arrived to find a charming spanish family reunion lunch party with all the children dressed up and a very Spanish atmosphere. Dinner was far more international with a very loud hen type party dominating the dining room. Evening staff are very good with exceptional language skills. 20 euro menu was pumpkin soup, pork and chocolate cake so went for the a la carte which put the cost up to over 30 euro pp but suited us better. Loved the garlic and almond cold soup and the boozy cocktail sorbet in particular. Flight next morning meant we needed breakfast before 8 on a sunday but with staff arriving on a miserable wet morning at 7.45 we opted for the airport ! Views still fantastic from restaurant esp after dark
- Verified traveler (6/5): Needs thought - Although the hotel is a good one, it is far from a "coffee:" or other public place to relax and get a refreshment. The hotel does not have coffee or tea making facilities anywhere in evidence. There is no staff available mid morning or mid afernoon or late evening to do a refreshment for you. There is no refreshment service at the pool besides a nearby small limited fridge. The restaurant is excellent and the views magnificent.
- Laura (10/5): Excellent stay at the Hotel Villa Gaudalupe. - We had a wonderful stay in Malaga at the Hotel Villa Gaudalupe. The hotel is situated at the top of the mountain with a panoramic, majestic view of the sea and town of Malaga. The hotel is so beautiful & charming. Well appointed, modern and very clean rooms. The entire staff were professional, helpful and they make you feel welcomed as if you were there family. The location of the hotel is excellent with only a five minute drive to town and the beautiful beach and boat port area where there are many shops, restaurants and bars.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent resturant with wonderful views. - Difficult to find - problem with Malaga's road signs not the hotel!
Staff excellent and atmosphere great.
Our room was noisy until 1am . We were next to the toilets for the resturant and guests leaving the resturant were noisy.
- Rigidparrot (8/5): Difficult to find, but SO worth the effort! - Enjoyed every minute of our 3 days here. When we eventually found it we liked it so much we did not leave again until we checked out. Whilst our room was quite small and a little dark it was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The view, the quality of the restaurant and the pool area were only surpassed by the help and friendliness of the staff ~ nothing was too much trouble (even the hotel cat spent much of the day curled up under our sun beds)! We shall DEFINITELY return.
- CRS (8/5): very welcoming - We arrived on a very late flight to Malaga and the hotel staff couldn't have been more welcoming. They even served us a light, delicious supper and drinks which was perfect. The location of the hotel was ideal being only 15-20 minutes from the airport and we were there for one night en route into Andalucia the next day. We would have struggled to find it without sat nav and in the dark as it was in a quiet neighbourhood up a steep hill and some way from the hub of the town - suited us brilliantly but wouldn't be great if you wanted to stay and sight see in Malaga or you didn't have a car. Our room was clean and comfortable but a bit dated and pokey with no outlook, however it was perfect for one night en route. The aircon didn't work very well but again not really a problem for one night in mid Sept. Overall an excellent experience. Thank you!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very relaxing place - excellent service - The staff were incredibly helpful and the food in the restaurant is amazing. A first class establishment!
- Howie Arnold (10/5): great views and staff - loved the hotel and the restaurant
- Tony (10/5): Boutique romantic Hotel far from everything - Definitely the Hotel to remember!!! Amazing views nicely appointed rooms and facilities, outdoor pool. For those who likes romantic getaways and adventure:)
On the downside car needed to get in and out of the hotel
- asura (10/5): Wonderful view and kind staff. - A room with balcony is indespensible. With additional charge, we can upgrade our room which was wonderful.
- ML (10/5): What a gem! - Hotel Villa Guadalupe is set high above the city of Malaga with stunning views in every direction. I shared a twin room with my friend, which unfortunately didn't have a balcony, so its important to contact the hotel in advance if you want one. However the room was clean, comfortable and well ventilated - perfect for our 3 night stay. The staff at the hotel are what truly made our short break special...they were just so helpful...about everything. From recommending a fabulous restaurant near to the Cathedral, loaning a map, to ensuring I was made a delicious vegetarian meal in the popular hotel restaurant - Amador.
Walking down to the bus stop was a real expedition and not for the faint hearted! ..not so much the distance but the vertical hills you need to hike down; the local bus service is frequent and takes you right into town.
All in all we loved this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to return.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent Restaurant and fantastic views of city and coast line.
- P (10/5): Situated on a hill overlooking the city. - Highly recommended. Very helpful staff, comfortable accommodations and an excellent restaurant.
