Lodging_Guru (8/5): Beautiful property, but should have been a 5-star experience - I was here for an organized retreat. The hotel is beautiful and seemed to be very clean. My room was spacious and I really liked having a shower and separate tub. The bed was comfortable and it was convenient to have a mini-refrigerator. Housekeeping staff was excellent and made sure I had plenty of towels, water, trash emptied, etc. I would have given this hotel 5 stars except for a couple of things that marred the experience. First, the group of ladies I was with (about 100 of us) attended a private dinner in the Citron restaurant organized by the hosts of our retreat. The food was not that great (it was a buffet) and the buffet was not double-sided. As a result, there was an extremely long line waiting to get food. Having worked in the hotel industry for several years, it seemed that having a double-sided buffet would have been a lot more convenient, instead of having a line wrapping through the restaurant. Just poor planning. Also, on Saturday night around 11:30pm, there were pre-teen kids yelling and running up and down my hall. The parents, of course, were nowhere to be found, so I peaked my head out the door and kindly asked them to stop yelling, as there were guests trying to sleep. While this is not necessarily the hotel's fault, it would be nice to have some enforcement of "quiet hours," especially at a $500 a night hotel.

OrrvilleRedRider (8/5): A mixed bag - I spent three nights at the JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes, in March, 2026. There’s a lot to like about this hotel, and some things to dislike. The “likes” win out on quantity, but some of you (as did I) may find the dislikes mean you’ll want to stay elsewhere. First, the stay: My wife was attending a conference, where the JW Marriott, Grand Lakes was the conference hotel. She went off and “conferenced” each day, and I explored. As it happens, the conference facilities actually connect to the adjacent Ritz Carlton, so if you’re a Ritz Carlton fan, you don’t lose anything by staying there. What I liked: - Extremely efficient valet parking operation. - Large room for a standard. Decent bathroom. - Really nice breakfast buffet, with a very generous number of staff. - Quiet, efficient HVAC. - Comfortable beds. What I didn’t like: - This seems to be a problem across Marriott’s newer hotels – terrible terrible lighting. The so-called bedside lights (as opposed to the reading spotlights) didn’t put more than 20 watts worth of light. These are LED lights, so there’s no solution. In the corner of the room there was a sectional sofa and table. But no light. So, it was worthless. You couldn’t use the table for anything (I think most people would actually want to see their food). You couldn’t read while seated on the sofa. Why would anyone design room lighting this way? - There was a desk with decent lighting for the workspace. And, there was a floor lamp added seemingly as an afterthought right next to the window (but nowhere near a chair usable for reading). That lamp saved the room, in my opinion, from being a total disaster. But, overall, this was a poorly lit room. I’m unlikely to return, due to the lighting situation. But, if you are always on personal devices or watching TV, maybe the lack of lighting wouldn’t bother you.

rxp188 (8/5): Spring Break 2026 - Excellent hotel with an amazing pool area, love the lazy river, the rooms were well appointed. Service was a bit lacking for a JW, we did go during spring break so could be why but it’s a JW so they can plan better and hire additional staff for the increased volume. We ordered food at the pool and took over an hour to arrive and had missing items. Not something we would expect at a JW. Overall, we definitely enjoyed ourselves and would love to come back.

There is a Starbucks that is really good, and the room service is great. The lazy river is really cool, and the Rita Carlton is next door, so you get access to the pool and the park that is there.

Sent a message to hotel customer service, but nobody responded. We didn't want to call and change the room because checked in late night and our kids needed to rest.

The fresh caught fish added to my salad was delicious as well as the pina coladas. The elevators were fast and efficient. There was an obnoxious family eating McDonald's at Evrbar. In a luxury resort this was inappropriate. The wagu sliders at Evrbar were dry without flavor. The pina coladas at the ritz carlton pool bar were milky and warm instead of a frozen mix of goodness.

Chewba319 (10/5): Perfect for a family vacation - We recently stayed at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes during a family trip to Universal Studios, and the overall experience was excellent. The rooms are exceptionally clean, feel newly updated, and feature a nice in-room coffee setup (plus there is complimentary coffee on the ground level in the morning). Service was a standout; the staff consistently went out of their way to please and used an efficient text-messaging system to check in with us throughout our stay. The pool area is fantastic for families, featuring water slides, a lazy river, and an aqua park (note: you must book the aqua adventure park in advance, as it sells out). The hotel also organized excellent holiday activities, including a fun carnival for Easter weekend. My only criticism is the poolside dining operations. The pool area appeared understaffed, which led to delays in simply placing an order. Once ordered, the kitchen seemed heavily backed up; it took over an hour to receive basic items like a burger and a grilled cheese. To their credit, the staff was highly apologetic about the delays, but the food service logistics need improvement. Overall, a great stay and we will be back.

We let them know prior to our arrival that we were celebrating a birthday and a graduation and they added some special touches that made our stay extra special! Loved the lazy river and water park features. Watched fireworks from our lakeview balcony! Beds were comfortable and bathroom was very nice. Had some trouble with the parking (hotel card would not scan, so we had to pay with credit card to leave lot), but service at the front desk fixed it for us and we were not double-charged. Highly recommend for those looking for a relaxing family stay.

mdmachlin (6/5): Fun Slides for the Kids But Understaffed and Lackluster Restaurants - Our family of four stayed at the JW Grande Lakes in Orlando for four days and three nights for Spring Break. The hotel is very beautiful and our boys absolutely loved the water slides and lazy river, but I would hesitate to stay at this hotel again. The hotel was extremely understaffed for Spring Break and the multiple conferences on site so there were constant waits for everything during our stay. Each morning there was a thirty minute wait to enter the breakfast buffet if you didn’t arrive before 8:30am. The wait for burgers and fries was nearly an hour Friday and Saturday afternoon and the pool chairs were all claimed by 11am each day so one day our family of four was forced to lay on the concrete because there wasn’t a single open chair. We luckily made dinner reservations each night of our stay, but I didn’t love the food at any of the four restaurants that we tried. Kitchen at the JW had great cocktails and appetizers, but the burger was not great (cheap meat and overcooked) and the shrimp po boy was bland and had tiny shrimp that were covered in too much batter. Cocktails and appetizers were amazing at Primo, especially the bread service, but our steak and the lobster bucatini were both under seasoned and disappointing. The worst meal was at Highball & Harvest. The shrimp on the kid’s buffet looked better than the tiny, overcooked and bland shrimp on my shrimp and grits. The macarons on my crème brûlée were stale. The best food was the poke bowl, fruit platter, and quinoa bowl at the pool restaurant, but the burger and the majority of the cocktails were terrible. While most of the food was disappointing I do believe that this is one of the nicest pools in Orlando, the Ritz has an excellent playground, and both the JW and Ritz have nice areas to kick a soccer ball or play catch. I would probably check out other hotels in Orlando before returning to the JW Grande Lakes.
kev1438 (8/5): Bad rooms other decent stuff - I don’t know what the JW Marriott chain stands for. Sometimes their hotels remind me of a plain old Marriott. Once or twice closer to a Ritz. Other times more like a Fairfield Inn. The name has little identity unlike its brethren. And this one is no different. The rooms may even be below a recently constructed Fairfield’s. They’re incredibly dark, with no central light and only a weak one above the bed. The lone couch had no backrest on one side of it (it was L shaped) and otherwise there really was no place to sit. The drawers were a joke. Two situated very low and they were excessively deep. If you have a bad back forget this place. The bathroom reeked of age, dressed up with a rainfall shower. Don’t come here for the room, that’s for sure. However it had a good central bar, wide open and plenty of seating with fairly good service. The lobby restaurant was excellent, again with good service and a nice wine selection. The restaurant downstairs which is the main breakfast spot was a bit dated both in terms of looks and food. The lobby itself was very open and light-filled but stained to be picturesque. Decent gym. If you’re a family the pool area is a dream. Water slide and lazy river and huge pool. If you’re alone or a couple go to the Ritz pool next door. You may even switch to the Ritz after seeing the mass of kids in the pool area and checking the rooms, and no one could blame you. The view from the lake side of the hotel is decent and more importantly that side is quiet. The other side looks over a busy road. Pay the extra for the lake side.

Freedom35966507940 (6/5): Wired sound and lack of functional furniture - We hear wired sound at night , couldn’t figure out from where. We stayed 3 nights, the last day we found it’s from the dark hole behind the speaker. We didn’t sleep well. We are 2 people and there’s only 1 chair in the room. We asked for a small coffee table or a chair so we can put one of our laptops on. I called 3 times: 1 st call, told me they are going to find something , then nothing happened; 2nd call, told me the same, then nothing happened, 3rd call, same…. At least they can tell me there’s nothing they can provide directly.

The lobby was very clean even saw someone cleaning the water fountain feature early in the morning we fly out. But the window in the hotel. The items left in the halls and the one restaurant we went to… could be better. Staff at the front desk never offered to have the case of water we ordered to be brought up to our room and when we ask for a cart they said they didn’t have one. Our room was quite a long walk from the elevator.

There were bright spots: the sandwich shop offered good quality, and I want to specifically credit the gentleman working the pool area who provided great service. The Service Lapses Despite those positives, the overall experience lacked the JW Marriott attention to detail I’ve come to expect. The service was highly inconsistent and, at times, unwelcoming: Poolside Service: While the individual server was great, the general management of the pool area was a letdown. I sat for my entire duration without ever being greeted or offered the opportunity to purchase food or drinks. The Pool Bar Restaurant: Upon arrival at the bar, the greeting from the female staff member was subpar and did not meet the luxury expectations of this brand. Whisper Creek Farm: The Kitchen: The service here was definitely substandard. For a signature dining spot, it lacked the refinement and hospitality I’ve experienced at other JW locations. Retail/Convenience Store: Even the staff at the on-site clothing and convenience store felt very unwelcoming. Final Verdict I truly trust the JW Marriott brand, which is why this stay felt like such a letdown. When you stay at a JW, you expect a seamless, proactive service culture. Here, it felt like the "human element" didn't match the 5-star physical property.

Paul C. (8/5): Nice resort hotel, however the overall experience was disappointing. - The resort is expansive and caters to families with numerous children. The accommodations were satisfactory, though not particularly distinctive. We visited to celebrate New Year's Eve 2026; the venue was well decorated for the occasion, and guests were provided with champagne and festive accessories. The service staff consistently greeted us courteously throughout our stay. It took ten minutes for staff to find our reservation. We booked for a New Year's Eve celebration but the venue was sold out after we reserved, despite being assured that there is no issue getting a table. Staff promised a solution, but only offered dinners ending at 10 pm, so we watched the fireworks from our room. For $750 per night, this was disappointing.

tlh02 (10/5): Good value for what we needed and comfortable experience - We had two rooms and stayed for one night on Dec 31st and one night on Jan 3rd. We were visiting family and Universal Studios which is a 20-25 min drive. Everything was exactly as we expected. Checkin as fast, the rooms were near each other as requested, the bed was comfortable and the hallways was quiet given we were there on a holiday. We ordered room service and the meals were basic but we enjoyed them at a typical hotel room service rate. We have stayed at the JW Marriott before the remodel and we have stayed at the adjoining Ritz. If I were here to enjoy the pools or the restaurants I would stay at the Ritz. Our rooms were approx $600 per night /per room and I find that a good value for the class of hotel.

Phil (8/5): Very nice hotel with excellent pool facilities - The hotel was exactly as we hoped - a lovely, comfortable room on a high floor; the shops were excellent, the Starbucks concession very convenient and the pool and lazy river just what we expected. We didn't use the slides or the Aquaventure but they both looked good fun and seemed very popular. Whole hotel had a nice vibe and it was pleasantly busy all the time! Valet parking got very busy and there were some delays getting our vehicle on a couple of the days but other than that, nothing to complain about!

842asadz (2/5): 1/5 – Very disappointing stay - This was a genuinely poor experience and far below what I expect from a JW Marriott. I was initially given the wrong room, which set the tone for the stay. Basic logistics also failed — the parking gate never worked properly, causing repeated frustration coming and going. Housekeeping was inconsistent as well; my room was not cleaned one day with no notice or explanation. For a hotel positioned as luxury, this is simply unacceptable. Overall, there was a lack of attention to detail, accountability, and service recovery. Issues can happen at any hotel, but how they’re handled matters — and here, they weren’t. Unfortunately, this stay did not reflect the JW Marriott brand at all.
ZuzziTravels (6/5): Would not stay here again - better places for Disney guests - I really wanted to like this hotel. We go to Disney every year, and I've stayed at the attached Ritz Carlton in the past which we loved. This one is way more reasonably priced, but too many issues. FYI we stayed in the 2-bedroom family suite. 1. They no longer offer a shuttle to the parks. Why not?! If you have a big group, prepare to take multiple Ubers back and forth. 2. On the first night there, we walked into a nearly empty hotel restaurant (Primo) and they told us it would be a 90 minute wait for food due to staffing issues. 3. Speaking of food, the morning buffet is a complete public health disaster! Nothing is covered - kids are sneezing and coughing over everything. I'm shocked they haven't taken basic precautions like food covers and sneeze guards 4. The rooms could use an update - we had a couple issues like a loud AC and our sink faucet broke (they did fix it within an hour). That being said, we did appreciate the large (albeit cold) pool and slides. We also used the Ritz spa and ice skating amenities. I just think there are better places to stay if you're going to Disney!

AFM1415 (8/5): Nice, but not what I was expecting - The JW Marriott Grande Lakes is, similar to a majority of hotels in the area, an absolute behemoth of a property. The lobby is expansive, there are multiple restaurants on-site, and there is an amazing waterpark at the hotel. This was all impressive and helped make our stay fun. If I'm being picky, the hotel does miss in a few key areas in which I wouldn't have expected them to miss, especially as a self-proclaimed luxury hotel. For example, we had an executive suite with a pull-out sofa. There was no offer by the hotel to set up the sofa bed, nor did they even have turn-down service. What's more, when I requested foam pillows for the sofa bed, I was informed that they were out of pillows. The hotel was out of pillows. I'm no hotelier, but it seems like overplanning a property's pillow inventory is a no-lose proposition. My Bonvoy status was also not acknowledged or rewarded, and there overall just didn't seem to be a lot of focus on the guest experience. The JW is connected to the Ritz, so I'd probably consider staying there next time instead.

tinypunkee (6/5): Lovely Grounds and Dining, Inconsistent JW-Level Experience - I stayed at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes from December 22–25 for three nights. The property itself is beautiful and has a lot of potential, especially for families, but the overall experience didn’t quite meet what I expect from a JW Marriott. The grounds are lovely, and while we didn’t get to fully enjoy the pools, the lazy river and water park looked like a lot of fun for kids. During our stay there was a holiday ice-skating setup with fire pits, hot cocoa, and food trucks over by the Ritz next door, which was a really charming and festive touch. Dining was one of the highlights. Dinner at Primo was excellent — truly fresh, homemade pasta and great service. Breakfast at Citron was also very good, especially on Christmas morning. The omelet station and pancake/waffle station stood out. As a Marriott Titanium Elite, I was recognized at check-in and offered continental breakfast, which I appreciated. I was also upgraded to a queen room with a balcony and pool view, a couple of categories above what I booked. That said, the room itself, while renovated, felt quite small, and the hotel overall does feel dated. One major disappointment was the lack of expected JW amenities. There was only one robe in the room and no slippers, and when I called reception I was told they were completely out of both. The robe that was in the room looked very worn and dingy, which was not what I expect at this level. I was also disappointed by the lack of turn-down service, especially given that this JW is directly connected to a Ritz-Carlton. While I understand that turn-down service may no longer be standard at every JW, the proximity to the Ritz raises expectations for a more elevated and consistent luxury experience. To put this into context, I had just stayed one night at The Ben in West Palm Beach, an Autograph Collection hotel, immediately prior to this stay. They covered my entire breakfast and had both a robe and slippers waiting in the room. An Autograph property should not be out-executing a JW Marriott on basic elite expectations, and that comparison is honestly why I took off two stars. Another issue was a loud alarm going off in the room next to us at around 2:00 AM. It sounded like a room alarm, and it took security about 30 minutes to access the room and shut it off. To the hotel’s credit, they handled this well afterward and offered 80,000 points, which was very generous. Still, these are issues that shouldn’t happen at a JW Marriott. I also couldn’t get the coffee machine in the room to work, so I relied on the Starbucks in the lobby, which was appreciated. Overall, this is a beautiful resort with great dining and family-friendly amenities, and the staff does try to make things right when issues arise. However, for a JW Marriott — particularly one connected to a Ritz-Carlton — the experience should be more seamless and consistent from the start. Attention to detail and execution need improvement to justify the brand level.

As we left breakfast we asked for validation of the parking as our friends parked Valet and got a sticker and we were told we didn’t need one. As we were leaving we spoke to the Bell Desk and they said they couldn’t help and to speak to the Valet Team. The Valet Team could not help and sent us to the Check In Desk who also could not help. He spoke to a Manager who explained that they couldn’t help and that Self Parking did not qualify for Validation but Valet did. Hilarious! He told us to go to the restaurant and so we stood there for 15 minutes trying to get a validation. The point here is that none of your staff know what they are talking about and just pass you on to others. I am embarrassed for you.

Only negative is the Cristano restaurant is very slow…and the bar service is infuriating…the bartenders are unable to multi-task and will ignore you….odd for such a great place.
B540YSjohns (10/5): Exceptional Birthday Weekend Getaway! - My parents and I stayed at the JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes from December 13-14, 2025, to celebrate my birthday weekend, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding—special shoutout to Ryan at the front desk, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and ensured everything was perfect for our special occasion. His friendly demeanor and attention to detail truly set the tone for an awesome stay. We really appreciated that he gave us the 4 PM late check out and the complementary breakfast because of my dad‘s platinum status since the reservation was under my mom‘s gold elite status, which didn’t include this. We were booked in room 20027, a comfortable 2 queen room with a stunning lakefront view that provided serene vistas of the beautiful Grande Lakes property. The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and equipped with all the luxurious amenities we’ve come to expect from JW Marriott. The resort itself is a tranquil oasis—beautifully landscaped grounds, fantastic pools (including the lazy river), and easy access to dining and activities. Everything about our short stay was relaxing and rejuvenating. We truly love this hotel and can’t recommend it highly enough. We’ll definitely be back in the near future—thank you for making my birthday weekend so memorable!
mjO2608UQ (10/5): Nice attractive property with great service and a friendly atmosphere - Service is as good as I remember. Alexis at front desk comes to mind, but all of the staff is great. While we have no interest in ownership, James was fun. Still wish they would lose the Starbucks coffee, but I brought my own. Should I have to do that? Of course not. The local brew cappuccino was good at breakfast.. I think the beds were redone. I prefer a softer bed, but these were….adequate…not what I would want but adequate, barely. The staff and food at The Kitchen were great…thanks, Sydney. As usual the hotel was buzzing with business gatherings. That seems to be its bread and butter. One upside of that is more space at the pools. We would stay here again.

LISA (10/5): Gorgeous Property, Clean Room - Absolutely gorgeous property. The lobby was stunning with a fountain in the center and tall ceilings, all beautifully decorated for Christmas. The staff was very friendly and helpful at the front desk. On the day we checked out, they had a hot chocolate bar in the lobby with many toppings and that was a really nice touch and made my daughter very happy. I was under the impression that the room that I booked had a balcony, and when I arrived at the property, that was not the case. This is the second time that this has happened with Booking.com, and I'm not sure why they make the booking process so needlessly tedious when it comes to the picking the room portion at the end of the booking process (i.e., King with a Lake View, 2 Queen Bed Balcony Pool View, etc.) There should be a filter option!

When my daughter got cold, an employee named Enzo noticed right away and brought her two towels without us even asking. Such a thoughtful and caring gesture! We also tried the Wagyu sliders at the lobby bar, and they were honestly some of the best sliders I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this property for families and anyone looking for great service and great food!

I got to spend the days lounging at the pool while he was inside working. The pools and grounds are gorgeous. There's a lazy river and slides. The service poolside was excellent. Inside our room was spacious and immaculate. There are several restaurants at this hotel plus several spots to hang out and read, eat, or people watch at your leisure. Everyone here was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend.

ryanhY4419JU (10/5): Great resort - I stayed at the JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes on vacation. This resort is in a quiet area of Orlando but is still close to lots of shopping, dining, and entertainment. The resort is nicely landscaped with plenty of outdoor space and chairs to sit and relax. The pools, lazy river, and poolside atmosphere were all great. Rooms were a good size. No issues with room cleanliness or service. I highly recommend this resort for a getaway or for visiting Orlando if proximity to theme parks is not the top priority.
