Guest Reviews
- Mamdouh (10/5): - Location and location Everything fine
- Mohammad (1/5): - A dirty hotel with no internet, filthy, no room service, noisy, and the stairs are disgusting. I do not recommend it to anyone. I have already filed a complaint and no one has contacted me. A dirty hotel with no internet, filthy, no room service, noisy, and the stairs are disgusting. I do not recommend it to anyone. I have already filed a complaint and no one has contacted me.
- Ives San Diego (7/5): - It was an unusual stay. The hotel is in a beautiful old building under renovation. I had to change rooms because of some problems in the first one, but the receptionist was very helpful. I stayed in a huge room with a great view. It will certainly be a great hotel when it's finished. It was very difficult to find the entrance; I had to pay a young man to take me to the correct entrance and to carry my luggage because, due to the construction, there was no elevator available.
- Zena (10/5): -
- Georgios Iasonas (1/5): -
- Odai Saleh (7/5): -
- Oleksii (8/5): - The shared bathroom has broken locks and door handles. There is no way to lock the door from the inside.
- Daryl (8/5): - You get what you pay for and this property is cheap, BUT if you've never experienced downtown Cairo its in a great spot (once you find it). 3rd floor in the alley behind Krispy Kreme/KFC/pizzaHut. The night guy Gabriel is awesome. Dont expect a luxury resort for $20, but it had COLD AC, Drinkies is down the road for beer and they let us store it in the staff fridge. The buildings like 500 years old.
- Muhammed (9/5): Superb -
- Chaharzad (10/5): Exceptional - انصح به
- Adil (1/5): Bad -
- Samson (7/5): Good - The hotel has no lift, just stairs up to 3 floors. Staff are friendly
- Charlotte (7/5): Good -
- Hany (9/5): Superb - staff were so friendly and cooperativ,
location is so central in the middle of Downtown cairo, where many restaurants, shops, Cafes , Transport and subway station are nearby.
- Aziztraveler (10/5): Exceptional - The Gresham Hotel in Cairo is a 10/10 for price and location. The only downside is the stairs to the third floor, which may be tiring for kids or elders, but fixing the lift would make it perfect. Special thanks to Karim, Miriam, and the great staff for their excellent service!
- Rashed (2/5): Dont go over there - There is no lift .. very bad location
- Clement (8/5): Very good - Great hotel in itself, great staff, high security and clean. The access involves a small street, which may scare some, and the stairs are quite dirty, but the hotel is very safe, hidden behind protective doors.
- Abdelrahman (1/5): Most of the images I saw on Booking.com was misleading - Nothing Most of the images I saw on Booking.com was misleading they should include that they are in the third floor no elevator and the entrance is not a full on hotel but it’s almost like a motel in the third floor without any elevator and the entrance is not on the main street. It’s inside inside the narrow corner.
- Fares (3/5): Poor - The location of the hotel is excellent, and the staff are very helpful and welcoming The entrance to the hotel is very inconvenient. The hotel is located on the fourth floor, and there is no elevator available, so guests have to use the staircase. This was quite challenging, especially with luggage
- Silvia (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mohamad (9/5): Superb -
- Tranicia (10/5): A gem for budget lodging - The interiors are lovely including the artwork. My bed was very comfortable. The bed linens and pillow smelled very fresh and inviting. The staff are very kind. The building lends the wrong impression of the hotel itself, but once you reach the top floor where the hotel located, it's like the difference between night and day.
- Mohamed (5/5): Passable -
- Djamila (9/5): Will definitely go back again ❤️ - The location is very strategic. Everything was nearby.
The staff (Adham and Islam) were friendly, extremely polite and helpful. The fact that there was no lift in the building
- Konrad (8/5): Very good - It's located in an old Cairo tenement house, so the gate, corridor and elevator look terrible, but most buildings in Cairo city center look like. You may probably feel a little uncomfortable, if you would back to hotel at night. Lift does't work. But the hotel on the second floor is in another world: stylish. The staff is very helpful 24/7. Rooms are clean (we stayed twice), are already renovated, air-condition was new too.
- Muhammed (7/5): Nice and central - In the middle of the city center Not nice entrance
- Tranicia (9/5): A pristine hotel with good amenities - The interior of this hotel looks nicer than the photos. This hotel is pristine, spacious, quiet and very comfortable. The bathroom has a big shower and hot water. The design and decor in the sitting areas are minimal and quite tasteful. Miriam and other staff are very helpful and kind. I highly recommend this property! Not applicable
- Dr (5/5): Passable -
- Amina (10/5): Brilliant - There is a saying "never judge a book by its cover" this is definitely true for this hotel. Upon our arrival it looks like a abandoned building but as you climb the stairs and enter the hotel its absolutely beautiful we couldn't have asked for anything nicer. Plz do not be put of by the 1st 2 floors. Staff was also very lovely and friendly Nothing as when you reach the hotel floor you forget the rest
- Dr (5/5): Passable - location
The water pressure was fine
staff are joyful and willing to help no breakfast
no elevator, you have to use the 3-floor stairs
very very old air conditioner, very loud without actual function
no TV
the bed was fair
no fridge
the main building door will be closed by 12 PM, and you will have to call them
- Chortani (2/5): Very poor - No escalator
- Salim (4/5): Disappointing - Location (close to city center) + Ali (the guy working there) There is no breakfast (it was included when booking), no lift working (need to walk 4 floors stairs), 2 first floors down are very dirty... the room is ok. Overall, it stays disappointing!
- Jimmy (7/5): Good - The personnel have been friendly and helpful. First room , the air conditioner didn't work . But they relocated us as soon as we asked .
- Pin (8/5): Great ! - I think this is the best hotel we stayed at during my time in Egypt.
No hassle, no harassment to trick travelers, no being treated like a tourist.
The staff are friendly and sincere, especially Ali, who is very nice and kind to help us just like a friend.
The location is superb.
The room is clean, and the bed is comfy. The stairs to the hotel were kinda scary at first, but I guess this is not their responsibility.
- Muna (8/5): Very good - The staff were great, we stayed for 2 weeks. Very accommodating and friendly. The stairs to get to the hotel as it is on the 3rd floor and there is no lift! That is the only downside.
- Matteo (10/5): Perfect location in the middle of the city, big room more than I thought. Staff very kind and professional especially to -
- Mariam (7/5): Ok. - The staff is good, rooms are clean. The beds are clean. The hotel is on the 3rd floor and it don’t have lift/elevator, the stairs are very long and rounded not like normal stairs and it’s very tiring. The entrance of the building it looks scary and it looks like an abandoned building no lights very dusty, cats everywhere and trash on the stairs and entrance of the building of the hotel. It took me 30 minutes to find the hotel because it didn’t have a hotel names in the streets or the building. But you gonna. Find a very old sign inside of the building it’s says the name of the building. ( If you have elderly, babies, sick people on people with asma) I don’t recommend.
- Nehal (1/5): Awful - the location Such a very bad experience .The hotel is in the third and fourth floor with no elevator which was very exhausting with the luggage. I surprised that there was no private bathroom in my room . The air condition wasn't working.
- Muhammed (9/5): Superb - Professional customer service, thanks to Mr. Eslam for facilitating everything
- Omar (7/5): Good -
- Omar (8/5): Very good -
- Shaheer (10/5): A great place in downtown! - The building where the hotel is located is an old building with not a nice entrance but the hotel is located with separate entrance at the 3rd floor is very nice . Will decorated, clean and big rooms and perfect wc / shower.
The reception is 24 hours open with great personal. Mr. Karim with a friendly manner is great ! The other 3 persons Ali , Mariam and Islam are all trying their best.
On the other hand the location of the hotel is nice. Direct in downtown. 1 to 3 minutes walk to any required shopping or 15 minutes walk to Nile river!
- Qilong (9/5): Superb -
- Christian (9/5): Superb -
- Mohamed (6/5): Pleasant - Room Location
- Makkeyah (1/5): Bad -
- Kris (10/5): Exceptional - Great location. Very clean and the front desk clerk, Ali, was very helpful during our stay.
- Alice (8/5): good location, nice decoration, hide in the upper floors of buildings - location is very good, 15 min walk to egyptian museum and can get bus 356 to airport. the first three floors look horrible, but the hotel floors are good with nice decoration.
- Amanv6 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (9/5): Good place to stay in Cairo - The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. The facilities are clean with plenty of hot water. All the staff are very helpful. They even arranged for us to move to a quieter room at the back of the hotel, because those overlooking the street have traffic noise. As everybody notes, the entrance of the building is very scruffy and there is no lift. However, once you climb up the stairs to the hotel, everything is fine. The location is extremely good, with nearly all centred Cairo within walking distance. Nothing
- Christian (5/5): The hotel is located in an old building. The hotel is clean, but the rest of the building and the main access were dirty - Location. Cleanliness of the building where the hotel is located. Unresponsive staff. Useless internet. No hot water and they would not fix it. Noisy place.
- Elsa (8/5): Good one, definitely will recommend it - Delightful location with a rich historical ambiance. It would be wonderful to learn more about the building's history; unfortunately, no one I've asked seems to have that information. The staff, particularly the receptionist Islam, was incredibly helpful. He handled all our requests with utmost care and professionalism. Guys you have more care & clean entrance and downstairs floors, please
- Rachel (8/5): Very good - Spacious rooms with neat decor. Staff were kind and responsive. We had to ask for duvet covers as the beds were not fully made up despite arriving after 9pm. The rooms were quite dirty with clumps of hair on the floor.
- Elsa (8/5): Very good -
- Haeyoung (8/5): Good location, clean, and wifi available - Good location to the city center To go to the 4th floor without the lift
- Manyi (7/5): It is okay. - The location is not bad, but the entrance is not in the main road, and the downstairs of the building is poor. Hot water shower is very good. The hitel is on the 3rd floor, but there is No lift.
- Gergely (8/5): Nice hotel in the downtown of Cairo - Nice place to stay in the center of Cairo. The rooms are spacious and clean. The only drawback is that it could get noisy during the night, especially if the room happens to be at the first (3rd) floor. We had to notify the partying people that we would like to sleep at 2 am in the morning.
- Muhammad (9/5): Superb -
- Muhammed (10/5): Exceptional - Thanks Mr. Eslam for your kindness and support 😊 Only need an elevator
- Nour (9/5): Superb -
- Paulina (10/5): Exceptional - All the staff is very kind and helpful, they are helping you in anything you need.
The place is clean and rooms are spacious. You can hear the noise from the street, but this is what you can expect from staying in the city
- Ahmed (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lise (7/5): Good - This hotel is located right in downtown Cairo, the area is busy with a lot of stores and food options around. The location on Google maps is not correct, the entrance is in an alley. You have to go up 3 floors to get to the hotel. The first two floors of the building are very dirty and not very inviting, however when you arrive to the hotel everything is clean and modern. There is no working elevator. The bed was comfortable and the shower works with an electric boiler which you have to plug. Note that the boiler needs some time to fill up before you can have a warm shower. Staff (Islam) is friendly and helpful. Breakfast and towels are not provided. Overall an Ok options for 1 night in Cairo.
- Vamsi (9/5): Superb - Rooms were very clean and spacious No lift! Have to walk 4-5 floors on steps! Very exhausting!
- Peraven (9/5): Good price-performance ratio for what you get. - The room was very clean, everything looked like in the photos. There was enough space and the toilet was clean as well. For this price, I was happy with what I got. The staff were very helpful and a big thank you to Ali and Karim who gave me tips for my excursions and really treated me very kindly and hospitably. They were always available for a good chat and good conversation 👍🏾 The elevator didn‘t work and the way up to the hotel was a little bit run down but when you enter on the Hotel on the 3. floor, it‘s very clean and you feel comfortable.
- Mohamed (5/5): Passable -
- Muhammad (5/5): That was good experience recommend if you can use 122 stairs with your leguage - Room & outside Was very Clean With out lift 122 stairs to approach the hotel room with luggage which is very poor
Internet speed was not so Good
- Marija (10/5): Good value for money, Karim and Mariam was so nice and helpful - odlična vrijednost za novac, osoblje od velike pomoćni za bilo kakvu informaciju.
- Massimo (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel is very nice and is in a perfect location... right in the center on one of the main streets full of shops and close to the Egyptian museum and the metro.
The room had everything you needed.
The guys at the reception, Karim and Alì, were really kind and always available.
They also gave us several tips on what to see during our days in Cairo and recommended also places to eat.
Absolutely recommended.
- Clinton (10/5): Worth it - The appearance No elevator
- Kouki2056 (5/5): Passable - The staff was kind/ the location of the hotel is good. _The entry of the hotel is very dirty, old and full of cats and i have phobia of animals so it wasn't pleasant to me to stay there.
_I have taken my shower with cold water. (They have to check their equipement.
- Swayams (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful interior. You will be in a different world once inside the hotel. Very clean & hygiene. I had a late check in at 1am, it was all smooth - found the hotel easily. The staff 'Baba' was nice and very friendly. Even while checkout everything was smooth. Really recommend this hotel.
- Muhammed (10/5): Exceptional - Thanks Mr. Eslam for being so nice and helpful.
- Jintana (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Amr (6/5): Pleasant - Mattress smells so bad
Description of the room wasn't correct
There wasn't a refrigerator even a small one
- Anonymous (8/5): I have good time in this property it’s neat and clean super new rooms very welcoming staff I really recommend to stay in - It’s new and very clean No elevator
- Muhammed (8/5): Very good - Amazing staff, thanks to Mr. Eslam for being so helpful and friendly
- Carlos (10/5): Best place in Cairo - Karim the best. Best place Oasis of silence and peace in Cairo
- Coloma (10/5): Exceptional - The vibe was very Nostalgic and perfect. The staff are friendly and accomodating. Look for Mariam she is the best.
- Evren (8/5): Very good - Location There was no hot water
- Hedieh (7/5): Good - Good location. The big room. Good shower. Clean No lift for 4 floors
- Aga (10/5): Exceptional - Clean hotel in great location. Other reviewers already pointed out the fact that to get there you’ll need to go through gritty little side street and three flights of stairs with broken lift. It is a mild inconvenience for the good value you are getting. Picture of the side street you need to turn into attached, hope that helps.
On the way there you might encounter little cats, we thought it only added to the charm. This old building has a lot of character. Staff at the hotel are friendly and polite and the location is unbeatable. On the beds there’s only a bedsheet with pillow and blankets in the wardrobe. No extra bedsheets to cover yourself with. We asked for those and they were immediately provided.
- Mahmoud (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mahmoud (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jawad (9/5): Superb - Great choice, very close to restaurants and attractions and the staff is really helpful.
- Bevan (7/5): Cheap, clean accomodation right in the centre of town - The room was spacious and clean, and the aircon was pumping freezing air. The reception staff were very friendly and spoke good English. Location is very central, just 10mins walk to the Egyptian museum. The entrance is obscure on a short side street which we couldn’t find. We called the reception and they helped us arrive though. The rooms are 4 levels up without a lift so keep that in mind.
- Syed (4/5): Just ok . - On 4th floor and 5th commercial floor
Below ; noisy and loud . Elevator does not work!
Entrance is bad on ground floor and not clean or kept well.
- Zeyad (9/5): Superb - The room was so clean and the space is very nice
And it is not noisy, and the place near the important streets and metro station
I recommend this hotel
And thanks for aadham and ali
- Mohamed (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean, good management and plenty of space for family rooms No elevator.
- Hussam (10/5): - The hotel is tidy and clean .smells very nice all over ,rooms are fully renovated.
Definitely will repeat it
- Felipe (8/5): Very good - Staff super friendly as they are Egyptian. Big room No lift. You need to use the stair and it’s quite dirty and high. The location is ok but it shows the pin in wrong place in the map. It’s not in Main Street as it shows it’s in the small one over the corner.
- Khaled (9/5): Superb - Amazing location, everything is near from you even the transportation are available around the hotel. The staff were great specially Mr, Eslam and Ali. The room is big with a great view balcony. The cleaning is great. The elevator is not working, you've to make some exercise to go up and down 😂
- Ahmet (9/5): Superb - There is no elevator, the stuff is more than amazing, price is oki
- Pat (9/5): Definitely stay here. Ugly on the outside but beautiful on the inside. - Outstanding location at the centre of Downtown Cairo. It is a clean, modern and very authentically Egyptian hotel. The staff are lovely and there is a good standard of English spoken which means communication is easy. Definitely stay here if you can....and don't be put off by what you read about the entrance to the hotel......most comments are accurate and fair but don't be put off...... it's a great place to stay I am just going to repeat what many others have said But do not let anything I say put you off staying here.
The little side road the entrance is situated on is really grotty, and there are usually a number of scruffy workmen hanging around in front of the hotel. The actual entrance is equally dirty and off-putting. You turn left before a broken lift and have to walk up three flights of stairs. These are also dirty, litter- strewn, and you will probably see flea infested cats. On the two floors you pass you will come across men who are working in the other "units" within the building
However......it is actually all perfectly safe and when you get to the hotel you will be amazed at how lovely the hotel is.
- Tetsu (9/5): Superb -
