- mike (3/5): Do a bit more research. - It was close enough to downtown. Staff was friendly. I booked a double room and when we got there after a full day of travel, they said they didn't have it until the next day. So, our first night, we shared a bed in a small room. (Family of 4).
On the hotel ad, it says airport shuttle. One of the reasons I went with them. It's not. They call a cab for you. $80 Euro.
I just figured they were lying about it all.
It ran out of hot water many times as well.
Our flight got canceled and they said they had no room left, so we left our bags, did the colosseum and picked them up afterwards which the new clerk said our room was available. Hassle. We already booked a luxury hotel for almost the same price as Best Roma.
New hotel is 10 out of 10 in comparison.
- natalie (6/5): - Hotel was clean and breakfast ok.
Very poor customer service on arrival.
Ignored at check in and unwelcoming.
Delay on room being ready.
First impressions count!

- J6756JOdavidc (4/5): It’s Ok but not 4* - The room was clean and the bed comfy, but overall it’s feeling quite tiered.
Unfortunately our room had no hot water and we had to use a different room to shower in, for the first morning. We then had to change room for our second night as still not fixed when we got back. This would have been fine, other than we weren’t informed and had to complain and ask to speak to the manager in order to get it changed.
Location great about a 30min walk to the colosseum and 90min to the Vatican.
In summary, ok for a short break, we were there 2 nights, but wouldn’t liked to have stayed longer.
- snoopy445 (8/5): Pleasant surprise - Stayed for a few days with friends. The hotel is a bit dated but the beds are comfy, the staff are lovely and helpful. The location was good with bars and restaurants in close distance. The only downside I found was the shower in our bathroom. It wasn't the best and the cubicle was small.
- SarahC7246 (4/5): Not 4* and not worth the health risk - I use trip advisor regularly to look at the hotel before I book! But I wasn’t ready for the quality of the room.. damp, cracked walls, dirty areas outside that don’t get cleaned at all in our 4 days, cracked patio window, sink with no plug and only hot water on the bathroom, shower like warm at best after running for over 5 mins and dangerous switch that was broken for the large shower head! Having asthma damp is very detrimental to me and yes I spoke to the staff on arrival who did nothing f about this! This is NOT a 4* hotel and as a surprise birthday present for by partner it was extremely disappointing. Plaster fell during the night onto the bed which was dirty and damp.
Room is very small with steps in and out of all areas which are very hard to see! No room for 2 to use wardrobe, safe not fixed so if you use it you can just lift it out, no room to out any tea & coffee facilities, you have to live out of your suitcase and edge slowly around the bed to actually get in! It is a shame as it isn’t the cheapest option in Rome and as a 50th birthday present it was a disappointment. Yes I informed hotel and EasyJet straight way but nothing either could do… I travel quite a bit and I live to give positive feedback! Unfortunately I couldn’t with this hotel.
- Skalidis9 (6/5): A Decent Stay with Room for Improvement - My wife and I stayed at Hotel Best Roma for three nights. The location is quite good – about a 20-minute walk to the Colosseum, with a metro station less than 10 minutes away. There are plenty of restaurants nearby (at least seven within five minutes), and the three we tried were excellent. The staff were generally friendly, the continental breakfast was decent, and our room was clean and tidied daily.
However, there were a few issues that took the shine off our stay. We booked a standard room, which had no drawers at all – meaning we had to live out of our suitcases. The wardrobe only had four hangers, and despite requesting more on both our first and second nights, they never arrived. One day we also returned to find the room had been cleaned but completely lacked toilet paper, so we had to go down to reception to ask for some.
Overall, this hotel has potential and offers a decent base for exploring Rome. With a bit more attention to the small details, especially in terms of guest requests, it could have easily earned four stars from us.
- Michelle (10/5): - The hotel was a little hard to find coming directly from the airport but once we found it, overnight street parking was convenient and safe. Staff were so pleasant and helpful. The patio area out back was perfect to decompress after walking all day. Breakfast was nice and everything we had was fresh and tasty. Highly recommend this hotel.
- leet579 (8/5): Hotel Best Roma , ROME - The hotel itself is old worldy but has everything you could want. The rooms are clean with mini fridge and well set up bathroom.
The rooms are cleaned daily.
Well situated and only a short walk to the colloseum. 20 mins direct on foot but as already said good public transport links.
The only downside for us was the external door to our block did not open properly and we could constantly hear the bang and clang of the metal as people just pulled it open.
Other than that it was Great!
The breakfast is continental only with some hit eggs.
Highly recommend.
The staff are lovely and attentative.
Great stay.
- Laima (7/5): Good -
- Allen (3/5): Not a 4 Star ! - Clean sheets, clean room That they rate the hotel 4 star ?? No way!!
I was expecting a hotel much nicer ocourding to the pictures and rating advertised.
- აზა (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emilia (10/5): - Excelent hotel it’s near to the Metro that connects you to all the attractions. The food was really good
- Ahmed (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jelena (3/5): Overrated pricely -
- Ayad (10/5): - Very clean, cool, Great customer service
- Sandy (8/5): Roy best service received - Rooms were spacious. Roy was an amazing helpful staff member with no Italian attitude towards tourist. It had lifts which was helpful with luggage. Up the street you had a laundromat. We switched rooms often to be placed with our group. The shower door was broken and toilet seat was loose. Lady cleaning up or setting up breakfast was very abrupt if you were still sitting there a minute after 10 ( or whatever time it was meant to stop being served ). You not welcome to linger in that room. Not too close to the centre as expected but there was bus stop 2 blocks up
- SandySpice8 (8/5): Our first place in Rome - best service - Roy who manages the hotel on a lot of the shifts that we engaged with him was very service orientated and extended helpful. We booked 3 rooms and with my elderly parents it was a ping pong of rooms but finally came right. Hotel is deceptive from the outside but can accommodate a lot. Clean and comfortable beds with working air con and amazing pressurized showers. Breakfast is continental which was adequate. Had public transport a block away and Roy booked us taxi’s whenever we needed it which took a lot of stress from coordinating everything. They have a map (complimentary) which they show you all the tourist sites as well as shopping. And conveniently there is a laundromat just up the road along with a super market. It’s also 2 blocks away from the best and oldest gelatario Gassi which is a must stop for a visit place.
- Smallks73 (4/5): Not 4 star - How you review this hotel depends on how you rate it. This was not a four star hotel as awarded by any of the accredited bodies. If you compare it to a "proper" 4 star hotel you will be very disappointed. If you compare it to a 2 star B&B then you will be quite happy with your selection. It's location isn't great, on a major road miles from the city centre with no tourist bars, restaurants or shops anywhere nearby. The pictures on the site are well out of date, it didn't look anything like that when we visited. I don't think this hotel have done themselves any favours rating themselves as 4 star, i understand why, it makes you look good, but it sets expectations that this hotel cant deliver on.
- J9399UMmelissah (6/5): Some good some bad - We stayed during an exceptionally hot visit in August.
Upon arrival, the hotel is about a 10 minute walk from main Roma Termini Train Station. It’s not really in the best location; lots of graffiti and rubbish around, as well as a very noisy tram line that goes by through the night outside.
The bed was incredibly uncomfortable. It was hard (and our double was two twins pushed together, which I never like). My partner and I ended up putting down 2 duvets to make the mattress softer. The rooms were also very small with quite unusable spaces.
The shower did not drain. It backed up constantly along with the bidet which made the bathroom smell. Hot water took a long time to heat up.
There was 1 working plug socket in the room - there was a hole in the wall where another was which obviously did not work.
The breakfast was mediocre. It was stale and very sugary croissants, low quality yogurts, and cold meats and cheese which I did not try. It is served in a glasshouse. There is a coffee machine which doesn’t make particularly nice coffee, and a juice machine offering sugary fake fruit juices.
One particular gripe I had was that there were no tea/hot drink facilities in the room. I appreciate this may be a culture difference, but I would have liked to have had a hot drink perhaps in the afternoon, and the breakfast area which appeared to be the only place to get this was locked and shut off after 10am. There weren’t any cafe type places near by, more restaurant, which made it difficult to buy a tea out even. They give you 2 bottles of water in the fridge, but there are no facilities to make hot drinks so bear this in mind if this is important to you.
This hotel is not really central to the main tourist attractions. It’s about a 40 minute walk to Trevi, half an hour to the Collosseum. There is a Metro station about 8 mins away, but we were unable to use this during our visit due to exceptional works, which resulted in us spending over €200 on Uber, so if you’re not a fan of public transport you will have to factor this into your budget unless you want to walk a lot.
Bear in mind also we were asked to pay in cash for our Tourist Tax upon leaving which we weren’t informed about beforehand, and we hadn’t any cash euros which made for an awkward departure. We did pay by card payment in the end.
Housekeeping replenish towels and clean and tidy room once a day which is nice. The air con worked perfectly.
The reception & cleaning staff were friendly. Our room was clean but a little worn out looking; lots of scuffs on the walls, cracks in plaster, mould in shower etc. The rooms are very noisy, walls very thin.
All in all, this hotel is absolutely not 4 stars. It is 3 stars at a push. The breakfast isn’t good enough, the bed is not comfy enough, and there are no facilities enough to justify a 4 star rating. I would not stay here again.
- Sandy (8/5): Rome accessible for a reasonable value - Hotel is close to the Manzoni Metro and bus route. Across the way is a supermarket and a laundromat. The hotel looks onto an industrial motor company. Roy was exceptionally helpfully and a tremendous asset to hotel. Beds comfortable, room spacious, breakfast European but fresh (yummy custard doughnuts and croissants) down the street is the oldest Gelataria (ice cream) store in Italy which was a daily visit from us. Free WiFi Broken shower door and first room had a swimming pool (mini) shower without a step or rail to get into it which was dangerous
- Shanquetta (1/5): The hotel looked good online . But in person it was a hard no for me . - I liked that it was walking distance from termini , First off as a solo female traveler , I did not feel safe walking to the hotel. The areas around the hotel look super abandoned and unclean. The hotel itself breakfast was terrible you got stale breads and no selections of food to eat . And worst of all I had someone try to get in my room the first night there. Scariest thing I have ever had happen on a solo trip . Do not recommend this hotel for solo female travelers.
- Ian (6/5): Pleasant - Breakfast provided, close to transport, hotel has nice private area for guests Noisy area with little noise insulation
- 414bethanieb (10/5): Fantastic little hotel for the money! - Me and my husband had such a lovely stay at hotel Best Roma. When we arrived we were shown a map of all the locations of the tourist spots, best ways to travel and useful information, the staff were so friendly and helpful! Our room was clean, roomy and perfect for 2 people. Air conditioning worked perfectly. Room cleaned daily with fresh towels provided! We walked most places as enjoyed it more, but it’s very local to train station (10 minute walk) metro line (10 minute walk) and trams. Breakfast was a good variety we never left for the day hungry! Overall we loved our stay at Hotel Best Roma.
- 541olegsf (10/5): Best Hotel Roma is is perfect for family vacation - Wanna say just good words about this lovely place ! Super kindly and friendly staff . They will give you a map with all best places in Roma and will explain you how easy is to get there . Really nice location to get to any tourist’s place . Fantastic hotel for family vacation. It’s worth your money.
- Karine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ismael (8/5): Very good cost benefit - Very good location, simple hotel with all you need to explore Rome in a quick trip Simple breakfast
- Lazywalker (6/5): Pleasant - friendly staff, clean rooms. location. breakfest.
- Eleana (1/5): Very dodgy - There was no record of our booking when we arrived even though it had been booked for 8 months and confirmed by the hotel. We were offered a room with a leak and I was told I had to accept the room before I would be told the price. I refused to accept before knowing the cost so the man at the desk called someone else, possibly the manager. He mentioned the room was €120 per night on the phone (in Italian) but once off the phone, he told us it was €140. We pointed out that we understood what he said on the phone and we knew he had been told €120. He then tried to charge us an additional €20 per night for city tax. We advised we knew Rome city tax was not that high.
Given the above circumstances, we decided not to take the room and opted to leave.
- Pankaj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tina (1/5): Bad location and unfriendly staff. - The property is not in the best location. A lot of homeless nearby the area. The property was old and outdated. Be advised that the room you book and the size may not be what you are given when you arrive. Staff is condescending and insulted my intelligence about the size room. I was in and what I booked. Not very friendly or accommodating. I will not return to thllis location again.
- Jacob (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was great and the staff were very accommodating.
- Traveler40867071238 (4/5): My experience/ My class’ experience in the Hotel Best (Worst) Roma - The receptionist was unwelcoming to me and my class. He would not let us walk around the Hotel at night, saying that we couldn’t leave our rooms. Not only that, if we did, he would start chasing us, saying stuff like “Mister, come here”, and “What is your room number”, in a very disrespectful tone. As if that was not enough, after running to our rooms, he would start BANGING on the door and ringing the bell, screaming for us to come outside. In the event that we did in fact come outside, he would burst inside our rooms, acting as if that was normal, which made us really uncomfortable. Nonetheless, the breakfast was OK. There was not much variety, but it was decent. The location of the hotel is not that good, seeing as you will not be able to walk to most famous places, seeing as you’re not really in the centre. However, there is a metro station close buy, which helps with the logistics of travelling.
PS: The decoration was a bit off putting, but I personally didn’t have any problems with cleaning, quite the opposite. We had fresh towels every day and the room was cleaned every morning.
- Deborah (8/5): Very good - Lovely breakfast
Great location No kettle in the room
- Kathryn (10/5): Rugby weekend in Rome - Lovely clean and convenient hotel No tea or coffee making facilities in room
- Helen (9/5): Rugby - A group of 10 of us stayed. Lovely hotel, ideally located for our trip. Staff very pleasant and arranged our taxi back to airport. Will definitely use again. Showers a bit of a tight squeeze to get in and out of if you are a bit larger built. Breakfast was pleasant but could do with a little variety.
- romerosabine0 (6/5): Average - It was alright. Definitely not 4 stars.
Tiny room. A bit dusty in the corners.
Not the best area but easy to walk to most places.
The 2 breakfast girls were standing in the corner smoking and then re arranging the breakfast buffet. Not the most room for sitting and enjoying a breakfast.
- Tatevik (2/5): Overall it was awful. - The staff was very helpful. The location and everything, specifically facilities didn't meet our expectations, breakfast was awful , old food was given every morning and it was not clean in the hotel. We stayed outside of the hotel which was in another building.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - The room was clean and beds very comfortable. Staff were nice and friendly and arranged a taxi for our very early departure. Breakfast was great, fresh and filling. Would stay here again. Nothing
- Olti (1/5): dirty rooms, uncomfortable bed, very bad experience - nothing everything is terrible
- Ross (8/5): Nice little hotel - Nice rooms and breakfast. Staff were friendly. Nice restaurants close by. The location is a little out of the way. Only stayed for 1 night as a stop over. We should have checked distance to Roma Termini.
- Alan (7/5): Generally good and commensurate with amount paid. - Front desk staff were excellent, accomodating and helpful with mapping out the places we wanted to visit providing a good size map with notes. Breakfast was good. Staff smoking and eating in the breakfast room doorway was a big negative. Not sure how many were staff or friends just hanging out. Staff member taking all the salami to presumably make a sandwich with half an hour to go and not replenished was another negative.
- Lorraine (8/5): - We were a bit concerned with the negative reviews before we went. The rooms are basic but clean and cleaned every day. Breakfast is what you would expect in any hotel in Italy. The staff were helpful and accommodating to requests for additional tea and coffee in the garden area. There is graffiti on the walls in the street but you see that all over Rome. The hotel was close to a supermarket and dining options and a couple of blocks from the metro.
- Andres (4/5): An acceptable hotel for a night or two, without kids, if you need to be near Roma Termini - Breakfast was good and the location of the hotel was a quick tramway away from major railway/metro station Room (and hotel in general) were old, poorly maintained. Fridge didn't work, there was no hot water, bathtube was broken, room was extremelly noisy.
- Andres (6/5): The hotel is nice, but should do really good maintenance - Located near Termini All rooms, bad maintenance
- Chun (1/5): Rudest reception guy I have ever seen. - Breakfast is alright
Location is alright but you have to walk through some dodgy/unsafe streets to get there. Staff's attitude:
When we were checking out, the reception guy asked us to pay for the Rome City Tax (~€120). Although we are so surprised by this fee as no reminder have been given beforehand, we are still very HAPPY to pay this tax.
I need a physical receipt for this payment to get reimbursement from my company, thus we insisted that we need to have a proof. It is acceptable no matter a print-out or hand written, as long as it is a physical receipt.
But the reception guy got so angry and refused to provide any receipt, not even a single word.
He even insulted us (e.g. saying we are the weirdest family he had ever seen) and threatened us he would call police if we dont pay (Well, we emphasized we WOULD PAY THE TAX, just we need a hand-written receipt)
Since we needed to catch the train leaving in 30 mins, we compromised and we paid even without any physical receipt. The reception guy claimed he would email me a receipt on the same day, but its already 5 days I still haven't got it!!!
- Roberto (7/5): Good - Staff was very accommodating and room size was decent. Breakfast was good and included several food options. Room A/C was being worked on when arrived but front office staff not aware. Hotel has 2 elevator system with one taking you down 1 floor where you then climb steps for second elevator to room. Elevator size makes it tough to accommodate 2 adults plus luggage. You learn to work around this.
- Idsal (9/5): Good value for money and nice staff - Nice newly renovated rooms with good standards. The hosts are very friendly and helpful Was further from the train station than expected.
- Salvador (3/5): Too dangerous the facility for people like me - Air conditioner I ask for a disabled room…and they didn’t give it to me…
They confirm they will have it for me…and at the end…they gave me a regular one
- Antonia (7/5): Good -
- Debbie (8/5): Our week in Rome - We liked the hotel as it was near the centre but not too far. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Clean towels daily. The selection at breakfast could be more varied. Maybe a selection of more fresh fruit such as sliced melon etc.
- Lisa (4/5): - Hotel is very dirty. Location in bad area.
- joaquin (2/5): - Area isn’t good the hotel looks much better at the internet . It’s need a lots of maintenance
- Donna (7/5): Great for a night or two and access to Termini - While it is close to Termini, it is some distance (particularly for wheelchair transit) to major tourist place.
It suites us fine for a transition venue for a few day before flying out of Italy.
- Nakic-vojnovic (8/5): Pretty good hotel for value - The room was quite small, but nothing too bad. It was actually kind of nice. Breakfast was okay, no scrambled eggs or sausages, but good choice of ham, cheese, spreads, cereal etc...
Very helpful and understanding staff, clean room and comfy bed, actually decent TV that has all working programs Surrounding buildings were ''deteriorated'', didn't feel particulary safe walking around the hotel, could see a shady character here and there. The general area is a bit ''weird'', you could say I felt ''uneasy'' but generally just ok
The bathroom shower was very small, could barely fit.
- Alexa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deirdre (8/5): Staff went above and beyond and price was excellent - location is good. - Staff were excellent and nice breakfast selection. Location was good. Everything was clean and comfortable. General area was a little run down
- Larišová (9/5): Superb - Though the breakfast buffet didn't offer a lot (for example we really missed fresh vegetables), the rooms were great, spacious with beautiful decor. Everything was clean and smelled really nice. There is some noise from the street but it gets more quiet in the evening/at night, we didn't have any issues. The staff was lovely and we really enjoyed our stay.
- Arsh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dikla (8/5): Trip for two - Good place with nice staff. Bedroom was nice and nearby metro line Metro only runs until 9 sometime less and all bars are further away so unless you dont mind walking back, the location is ok. Also the breakfast was lacking. Really no options.
- Andra (9/5): Superb -
- Brendan (8/5): really clean and friendly - Reception staff very helpful and really nice
thank you Being Irish we like or tea/coffee would have been nice to have a kettle with some tea and coffee etc but it didn't upset our stay in any way.
- Denis (8/5): Very good - Nice hotel, quite good location. Good breakfast. Very small room!
- Patrick (7/5): Good -
- Georgios (1/5): Bad - The overall expirience from the Hotel was really bad. But the worst thing tha happened was that we forgot a jacket in our room that never bothered to return to us. They just told us they never found it.
- Anne (8/5): friendly and very helpful staff, clean and comfortable, 25 minute walk from station - very nice friendly staff, room very clean breakfast included but not much choice as vegan
- Jacques (10/5): Exceptional -
- Naidoo (5/5): Passable - Rohit at reception was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Firstly the water to shower was every night ice cold. The lady that cleaned up at the breakfast was exceptionally rude, will just yell at you if you asked her for something,no way to treat your guests. And the hidden cost of the city tax €12 per night for what cold water. The rooms had no tea making facilities like other hotels..Wouldnt go back there.
- Melody (5/5): Passable -
- Gabriel (10/5): hotel best is the best - the property is located in such a perfect lo action. close to everything you wish and the metro.
convenience store is right next door and thus you can get what you need with ease.
Rooms are so comfortable and the staff super nice and friendly The breakfast is so diverse and you can eat your heart out. there is nothing negative to say. it was a really wonderful time!
- Stefania (8/5): Very good - for a four star we didnt have a lot it facilities in the room such as tea/coffee making facilities
- Andrei (9/5): Superb -
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Gyuryal (7/5): Good -
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Graeme (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (9/5): Superb - The location is great when traveling by train from Roma Termini. It has a modern, yet old world, charm This is the second time I stayed st the hotel. I like it!
- Nisha (10/5): Best Roma Indeed - The concierge was excellent..Room was beautiful and clean .. Whenever the lady saw my daughter she either gave her a fruit or a pastry .. Hospitality was amazing The neighborhood looked a bit dodgey ..but all was safe. There were no windows in the room.
