Guest Reviews
- FromRenoNV (10/5): A Great Stay - Hotel lvka is a lovely hotel. It is family owned, and as such on the smaller side, which we find attractive, because things are generally quieter, more relaxed, and personal. No large crowds in the dining room or at reception. The staff goes above and beyond to help you and make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Our room and the en-suite were spacious, comfortable, and clean. The lounge is a relaxing space to enjoy a drink from the bar. The breakfast buffet is excellent, and so is the dinner buffet (25 Euros). They also offer a good and fairly priced selection of a la carte items.
One thing to be mindful of is accessibility to the nearest bus stops to/from Old Town Dubrovnik. To catch the bus to Old Town Dubrovnik, the bus stop is an uncomplicated 5-minute walk away with a slight uphill grade. Returning from Old Town Dubrovnik, the bus stop is about a 10+ minute walk away, depending on your mobility, with a couple intersections to be negotiate and, again, with an uphill grade the entire way to the hotel. For the return trip from the Pile Gate at the Old Town, be prepared to wait at the bus stop for a bit, as busses fill up quickly and you might have to wait for the next one. This is especially so during peak hours, even at the end of October, which officially is the shoulder season.
Other than that, there is nothing that will keep you from enjoying your stay at Hotel Ivka.
- susanwP2823DC (10/5): Great location, staff and value - Rooms were reasonably spacious (by European standards), comfortable beds, and clean. Some rooms have a balcony which is nice. Extensive breakfast buffet which was very nice, and included in price of the room. Very good location - lots of restaurants in walking distance and can even walk to Old Town or take the bus. Very reasonable pricing and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Would absolutely stay here again.
- Mirko (10/5): -
- Dora (10/5): - Friendly and professional staff. Clean and consistent room with modern design.
Great to take the local bus to Old Town if you prefer walking.
- Barbara (10/5): - We stayed there only one night, walking distance to restaurants and the free public beach. Nice area, staff very friendly, breakfast was amazing with a big variety of food. I highly recommend it!
- 451rachelk (8/5): Great location clean - Really enjoyed our 2 night stay at the hotel ivka. As a family of 4 the room/ suite was absolutely perfect, clean nice decor. Fridge and separate beds for all 4 of us ( a must with teenagers in tow) . The breakfast was great with good selection of everything. Location wise the direct area around the hotel was slightly scruffy but within a few minutes walk you can swim at lovely lapad bay in various places and there are lots of nice restaurants there too. Also beautiful walk over the cliff top. Busy but easy bus journey to old town dubrovnik and easy walk even with suitcases to the port for our next stop. Overall I would highly recommend as it's a perfect base for a few nights in dubrovnik and for onward travel to the islands
- Julia (10/5): - Friendly staff, brand new hotel, fantastic breakfast and dinner!
- Niklesh (10/5): - The receptionist Ivania ( i think i got the wrong name ) was super friendly and very informative .
The hotel was located in the right place .
- John (8/5): - Modern hotel however air conditioning is preset by front desk. We requested to lower the temperature however it was denied and would not go below 24 c according to the thermostat.
- AMAL (10/5): - Beautiful newly renovated hotel that is very accessible to most attractions. Great service and friendly staff. Ivana was super nice and knowledgeable, she provided us with all the information we needed during our stay. I highly recommend this property.
- Rachael (10/5): - A lovely hotel with a great dining area. Huge breakfast selection, including vegetarian options. The room was small but had everything you would need. A good sized balcony with seating.
- John (10/5): - Everything was great. Totally revomendable
- Rebecca (4/5): - Mold on walls in the room!
- Trent (10/5): - Beyond my expectations in every way. Its such a nice hotel and a great location. Absolutely loved it.
- glenncarloc2025 (8/5): 4-day Hotel Ivka Stay - We stayed at the Hotel Ivka Dubrovnik for our 10th year wedding anniversary. The hotel is newly refurbished with modern rooms and en-suites. The staff were helpful and helped us navigate the Lapad area, where and which bus to take (bus 6 takes you straight to the Old Town gate). Easy 10mins walk to Lapad beach which is stone/pebble beach and other shops, the cave bar and the promenade with plenty of restaurants bars and cafe to choose from. We had a half board and the breakfast and dinner blew us away. Probably the best half board meals we had. No free drinks (water or juice would have been good on evening that you don’t want a drink) on the dinner so had to buy every time but a good way to try wine from the area. They had a local wine maker who supplied the house wines Ivka (red) and Adria (white) we liked the white wine better as we also preferred the fish dishes on the evenings. Plenty enough of options where you don’t get overwhelmed and the food feels and tastes well made. The breakfast bar had a lot of options from cooked ones, cold cuts and cheese, fruits and yoghurts. Coffee, teas and juice as per. Great atmosphere in the mornings and the sun shines at the direction of the restaurant. Rooms were new and clean, had one clean and appropriately done. Basic, but all you really need.
- Navigator218546 (10/5): Fabulous Hotel - Lovely, newly renovated hotel in Lapad. Our triple room was very spacious and extremely clean. The breakfast was great and it had a good selection of items. We also had lunch there one day and it was lovely. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from Sunset Beach and all of the restaurants and bars. There is a bus stop nearby for the no 6 bus, which goes into the old town every 10 minutes. It is also near Gruz Port. This is a wonderful hotel that I would highly recommend.
- niamhk826 (10/5): Lovely hotel - Hotel Ivka is a really nice hotel in Lapad. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Breakfast is excellent with great choice and variety. 25 min walk into Dubrovnik old town and it’s actually lovely to be outside the bustle. 10 min walk to nearby Lapad with restaurants, cafes…
Very thankful to the lady at the front desk who helped us check in late at night due to difficulties at the apartment we had booked. She was lovely and so helpful.
Would come back again!
- Velma (10/5): - The entire experience was lovely- including comfortable beds and clean rooms; excellent breakfast (exceptionally fresh food) and surprisingly relaxing music in the lobby. The staff was consistently friendly, responsive, professional and helpful. In particular, Ivanka, Rafella, Zdanka, and Ivica were welcoming. I would highly recommend IVKA.
- Maria (10/5): - After parting from a group tour I stayed at this hotel for 3 more nights. Brand new hotel (or recent remodel), very quiet easy access to public transportation. Helpful staff, good verity of breakfast items.
- SUNALINIRAMESH (10/5): Wonderful Hotel with Good Staff - We, 3 senior citizen couples would have loved to stay in the old town, but chose to stay in Lapad side as we didn't want to go up and down staircases !
Hotel Ivka was good for us. It had a lift. It is a bit away from the old town but we were 6 of us together. So we took taxis to the old town. But to go to nearby islands this is closer.
The hotel was well maintained, very clean, neat and comfortable for our 3 night stay with included breakfast that we booked through Booking.com.
It had a kettle and coffee and tea sachets.
The bedside lights were good for reading without disturbing my husband.
There was space to keep the luggage and chairs and a small desk. Our rooms had balconies facing the road.. with a table and 2 chairs . We could also see the mountain in the distance.
We did have a problem with the water mixer in the bath room and the air conditioner. But it was immediately sorted out by the staff who attended to it promptly. We really found the staff very obliging, kind and hospitable.
On the first day we walked a bit to the left of the hotel and took a staircase to reach the road. That was a steep incline indeed. So we took a taxi to the old town. He charged us Euro 25.
But when we returned back at night straight to the hotel the charge was only Euro 8.50. A good and honest man ,so we decided to go with Steve for our full day trip the next day and the following day !
We wanted to have dinner at the hotel but they had only the buffet. As it was not feasible for us at that time. We had to go out which was a bit of a bother as we were tired . We had to walk downhill to the main road where there were a few shops and a small supermarket. We bought croissant, chips, yogurt and bananas for dinner! Of course if we had walked further we would have come to the harbour side.
Then it was an uphill climb back on the road to the hotel. . Do be careful at the corners as they come driving down at high speed!
Breakfast was plenty with a vast variety of cheese, pastries, fruits, salad and the usual breads . There was choice of cooked meats and cold meats, grilled veggies and eggs.
The dining staff too was very friendly.
We only wish we could have ordered dinner there... at least allowed a choice of the items in the buffet.
But on the whole, we were very happy with our stay at Hotel Ivka.
- NY_US_Lizzy (8/5): Generally good, superb breakfast - Stayed 2 nights as part of a group tour. Location slightly off the major road so not too noisy at night. Bus stop close by to access Dubrovnik old town but stop on return is further away and buses can be very crowded.
Hotel has a restaurant but in the immediate area there's only a small shop so you need to walk further into Lapad for more options.
Access to rooms is a bit of a warren of corridors and the lift is on the old side (but did work). Room had not been refurbished but was a decent size, with a big balcony including loungers. Shower didn't look the best but actually had surprisingly good pressure and plenty of hot water.
Best thing about the hotel was breakfast. Really excellent choice of hot and cold items. Breads, cold cuts, pastries, fresh fruits, cereals, cooked items, really everything you could want and generally staff did well at keeping items replenished and tables cleared.
Would definitely consider staying again if returning to Dubrovnik.
- Koon Hoi (10/5): - Responsive staff for the most part. The room was clean and nice. The shower design could be improved as it is easy for water to overflow. A bit short-staffed at times.
- Richard (8/5): - Well located. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable beds.
- E5625SCpamelad (10/5): Spot on - Clean and convenient (no lugging bags around cobbled streets) and cheaper than it's old town counterparts. Ivana's customer service was truly exceptional. The hotel is about a 35 minute walk from the old town (we stayed here as it was closer to the bus station on a one-night stopover) but it's a short taxi back. Would recommend for a short stay.
- Benjamin (8/5): - Terrific breakfast!
- Ying-Sing (10/5): - Excellent breakfast, modern facilities, helpful staff.
- Storyteller783285 (10/5): Excellent service - The rooms are modern and comfortable, and facilities, working. Only drawback is no microwave, no beverages, or hot water kettle. However, since we had to leave early for excursions, we were given simple take-out breakfast of bread and fruit. The staff is very helpful. There's a bus nearby taking us to Pile Gate of the Old Town.
- ElizabethC5505 (8/5): There are no cheap options in Dubrovnik, but this will do - There are no cheap options in Dubrovnik, but this was a slightly less eye-watering option than the rest. The décor in the rooms has been modernised since the main picture was taken. The room was comfortable, had powerful aircon, a safe that worked and was big enough for my laptop and the products in the bathroom were paraben-free and sulphate-free. However, the bathroom was very obviously designed by a man. The only way to shave your legs in the shower is with the sliding door open as you're in your own light and the door is smoked glass, so you can't see what the hell you're doing with it shut and I nicked myself badly. Also, the shower tray overflowed when I washed my hair.
Apparently there was an option to get breakfast for €5 when booking, which I didn't recall seeing. If you buy it without having pre-booked, it's €15, so I didn't. Probably for the best as I looked into the option of having a buffet dinner one night because it was cheaper than the restaurants in the area, but when I saw what was on offer, I thought again. However, what would be worth booking is the airport transfer if you have to get to or from the airport in the evening. Lapad is a lovely part of Dubrovnik, less extortionate than the Old Town, with lots of restaurants and nightlife, but it's further from the airport than the Old Town is and when I landed around 20:30, there were no public transport links to Lapad according to Google Maps. The price for the airport transfer is on the steep side, but trust me, it's cheaper than hailing a taxi outside the airport because you didn't think you'd need one before you got there.
On the other hand, if you're going to or from Dubrovnik by ferry, you'll find this hotel ideally located. I left Dubrovnik by ferry and it was walking distance for me from the hotel to the port. All in all, a decent option to stay in a pricey city.
- Marc (10/5): - Staff were brilliant and friendly. The place as a whole was very clean and tidy. The room cleaning staff were highly efficient having cleaned our room every day in the time it took my wife and I to pop down for breakfast and back. The free underground parking was a great bonus with a space always being available. Convenience stores were within a short 5-10 min walk away. Harbour 15-20 min depending on which side you're aiming for. Bus stop 5 min away. We were very happy with the place.
- Margarita (10/5): Nice hotel - Friendly staff
- ToniT1079 (10/5): Sunset View and then a Hot shower! - Large room complete with a large balcony and partial sunset view! Clean, well-appointed amenities. Our frig didn't work but we stayed only one night. Modern bathroom and shower. Excellent full breakfast buffet, yum yum. We enjoyed a 20 minute to the beach. Walk to city center about 20 minutes or take a bus that runs every 15 minutes..
- Mai (8/5): - We got there early and the gentleman at the desk gave us an upgraded suite! We were there during a heat wave and the air did not get as cool as we would have preferred. My partner loved the breakfast!
- dcgirl79 (6/5): a tale of 2 hotels - part of this hotel has been modernized and part has not. our first room was shabby, there’s no other word for it. a light that blinked so badly we had to turn it off, an AC that ran so loudly but didn’t get the room cool, crooked drawers that didn’t fully close, no refrigerator, no plugs near the beds, and - the real issue - a shower that leaked and completely flooded the bathroom. because of that, we were moved to a different room, which was lovely and clean and modern and had all the convenience the first room lacked. so, if you book here, make sure you ask for the modernized room. personally, i wouldn’t risk it. i will say that the front desk staff was incredibly kind and helpful and quick super quick to move us without argument when the bathroom flooded.
- Meredith (8/5): - I stayed one night in a single room. The staff is very friendly. The hotel is spacious and even the single room had plenty of space. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and had more than enough options. Definitely worth the price! It's about 45 min walk to old town or a 15 minute 10 euro Uber ride
- Hristo (10/5): - The hotel staff are very polite and ready to assist. Parking place is also available.
- Pantherboy (8/5): Comfortable stay close to transport to old city - Comfortable hotel out of city centre, close to transport to old city (catch Route 6 or 9 at nearby bus stop. Very quiet and convenient. Spacious clean room. Clean bathroom, though shower a bit small (seems a common thing in the Balkans though). Good hot water and water pressure in shower. Good powerpoint and light switch locations. Balcony, room safe, lift. No fridge, tea or coffee. Friendly staff. Luggage storage. Good restaurant and bar, including outdoor seating. Only real drawback was poor wifi - slow and kept dropping out. Would definitely stay again.
- Avijit (10/5): - Excellent Staff .Spacious lobby and Dining Area.
Very relaxing .
- Jasmine (8/5): - We had a smooth stay at Hotel Ivka. The staff was kind and answered all questions we had. The breakfast was great! Our room was clean but a bit outdated, especially compared to the more obviously renovated side. The WiFi at the hotel is awful, you’re better off just using your regular cell service if possible. The TV volume is capped very low. I understand this is for other guests, but with the AC and the bathroom fan, you pretty much can’t hear anything at all.
- Martyn (8/5): - Everything I needed for a 3 day solo trip to Dubrovnik. As a keen walker, everything is accessible from here. Staff were friendly and helpful - showed me where everything was on a tourist map leaflet on check in. Breakfast and dinner buffets are convenient if you need it. Room was very clean too.
- Sidhartha (10/5): A very comfortable stay at Hotel Ivka - The stay at Hotel Ivka was excellent.
The hotel was conveniently located close to the bus stop. Very clean and tidy.
The hotel staff were exceptional and extremely helpful. Would highly recommend the hotel.
The breakfast in the morning was top quality.
My special thanks to Ivana (lady on the night shift) for her kind help to arrange our taxi for early morning.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay.
- Charlotte (8/5): - This hotel is near to a bank and a nice shopping area near to Sunset Beach. The front desk clerk was very helpful with my questions.
- Grant (8/5): - A
- grahunts2016 (10/5): Lovely rooms - I'm fortunate to get a newly renovated floor. Very very clean. Super comfortable bed. Nice linen. Great large shower with rainwater head. Plenty of hot water. Really nice bathroom. I had a private balcony which was nice. Air con quiet. Rooms very wuiet
Breakfast was very good, lots of choices and good quality.
Location was near a bus stop to old city. We found it better to use a BOLT (Like uber) to get to the old city. Bus is very cramped.
- lindacA9788KW (8/5): Quiet, clean hotel with excellent staff. - The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was excellent, great choice. Located out of town, walk to Old Town approx 40 mins but good bus service nearby which made it very easy. Room was clean, slightly dated, corner shower was a bit small. Hotel was quiet and we enjoyed our stay.
- Dr Brian (8/5): - Older
- ilovetotravel2838748 (10/5): Excellent hotel in New Town, Dubrovnik! - Hotel Ivka is a wonderful hotel all around!
Hotel Ivka is located in the New Town, 2 km removed from Dubrovnik's Old Town/city walls. Old Town is over priced and full of tourists, making this a quiet and an ideal place to retreat to after a long day of sightseeing. There are many restaurants nearby the hotel, as well as a small fruit shop (30 metres from the hotel) and a small supermarket (about 150 metres from the hotel). I could find everything I needed for a comfortable stay nearby to the hotel. I walked to and from the Old Town (just over 2 km on foot), but bus number 6 will take you to the Old Town if you prefer to use public transport. The cost of the bus is under 2 Euro, you can purchase a ticket on the bus or at a little kiosk outside the bus, and the bus ride takes about 10 minutes. The bus stop is only 100-200 metres from the hotel.
This hotel is very busy, receiving large tour groups every day. However, staff were very efficient with the check-in process. Staff were professional, courteous and were there to answer any questions you have. The reception offers a city/tourist map also.
The hotel has a restaurant and a bar. I didn't use either, so I cannot comment on the quality or pricing.
Rooms were very modern and nicely decorated. There were two twin beds in my room, which for me wasn't a problem. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bed linen felt clean, almost brand new. The firmness of the mattress and pillows were perfect for me! The rooms are on the smaller side, but, I had plenty of room to navigate, traveling only with a small backpack. The room came equipped with a desk, a chair, two bed side tables, a large luggage storage cabinet with hangers, and even had its own outdoor/private patio with a table and two chairs! The view from the hotel is nothing to write home about, but it was nice to have the option to sit outside in your own space should you choose.
The bathrooms were clean and modern! Smartly designed, with ample space to move around. Ample towels were provided - 2 hand towels, 2 large bath towels and a floor mat. Towels were fresh, fluffy and felt brand new! Toiletries and necessities were restocked every day by housekeeping, including toilet paper, hand soap in dispenser above the sink, and in shower body/hair gel. The only other amenities provided were 2 shower caps and a couple of mugs in the room. Appreciated the enclosed shower. Water pressure and temperature were both great!
There was no fridge nor was there an electric kettle, however it wasn't a problem for me. They would have been a nice perk!
Air conditioning was in good working order, but, note that it is centrally controlled. You cannot adjust the temperature in your room yourself, and so it tends to be on the cooler in the room. The blanket on the bed was on the thicker side, so this kept me warm overnight. Wifi worked, but it was extremely spotty. Maybe it was just the floor I was on, but the wifi signal cut in and out. There was a flatscreen tv in the room with mostly local channels, but I was able to find a handful of entertainment and news channels in English. Important to note also that there is an elevator for those with large baggage, or who opt not to take the stairs.
The breakfast buffet was one of the best in all of the Balkans! Breakfast starts at 7:00am, but with large tour groups being accommodated, the breakfast buffet can get extremely busy! Often times, guests won't find seating until the large tour group clear out in the morning. There are numerous staff working attentively to restock the breakfast and to clear away plates to ensure seating for new guests arriving to the buffet. There was so much variety and quantity to choose from, guests could find everything they need. On offer was: scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, bacon, sausages, fresh cut vegetables, fresh cut fruits, whole fruits for takeaway (apples, kiwis, nectarines, bananas, oranges), cakes and pastries, cookies, a good selection of cold cut meats and cheeses, garnishes like olives, muesli and multiple types of cereals, milk, juices, a variety of breads to choose from with jams, butter and other spreads. The breakfast buffet was terrific and the staff worked really hard to ensure a good flow of traffic. My only complaint is the queue for the coffee machine. The buffet has only one automatic coffee dispenser which makes coffee according to your specifications (espresso, black coffee, cappuccino, coffee with milk, hot chocolate etc.), and it was very very slow to dispense coffee. Meaning the wait times for coffee were long. Drip coffee was also on offer, but this ran empty very often with guests not wanting to wait for the coffee machine. Guests who prefer tea must also wait in the queue for the coffee machine since it's the same machine that dispenses hot water. Despite this, the breakfast buffet was one of the best I had encountered in months of traveling! Just beware the large tour groups occupying the breakfast room! Once they depart, the breakfast room is much more peaceful.
Overall, I had an excellent stay at Hotel Ivka! The hotel offers good value and a nice quiet retreat from the Old Town crowds. You won't be disappointed with your stay. There is a laundry place nearby the hotel also, though I did not use the services during my stay.
Suggestion: buy a Dubrovnik pass (35 Euro), which includes the Fort, the city walls and various other attractions in the Old Town! The pass is excellent value compared to paying entrance fees separately, and is valid 24 hours. Walking the city walls is a great way to escape the masses in the Old Town and offers amazing views of Dubrovnik! I wasn't interested in the cable car, knowing my panoramic view of Dubrovnik would be superior from the city walls. The pass also includes use of public transit for 24 hours, meaning you can take the bus free of charge by showing your pass.
- Long Sing Raymond (6/5): - Breakfast was good but buffet dinner not so. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Bus stop was only few minutes’ walk away but always difficult to board.
- olgasofiaaa (6/5): Hotel ivka - When we first came in to the room we noticed that in the balcony there was somebody’s underwear. Eventually staff cleaned it. The air conditioner was working but it could not be turned off or adjusted and it made a loud noise. We informed the staff and finally we were directed to use the air conditioning by turning the fuse on and off. Room was ok and the breakfast was good. We were able to keep our luggage at the hotel after check-out, which was nice.
- CTSince83 (8/5): Hotel Ivka - Good stay!
We were at the hotel for one night, because we had an early flight home the next morning. Yes, the decor was outdated but the hotel is very clean, which I think is more important. The staff was very friendly. The room was very spacious, enough room for our family of four.
- John (10/5): - Very nice staff and clean hotel
- Rampions (8/5): Cheery and happy to help - A cross between something quirky and something traditional, Hotel Ivka is, in the end, fairly traditional. A few positives: excellent breakfast, and helpful, cheerful, reception desk. The man there even told the hotel would pack a breakfast bag for a morning with an early tour departure. They were happy to hold onto my luggage on my last day. The woman there was so upbeat!
The room was fairly standard, and a tea/coffee kettle would have been nice, but overall I was happy and satisfied with the stay.
- AJIT (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Showed me bus directions/stops to Old town & airport. Also really courteous dining staff. Would definitely stay here next time!
- Vicki (8/5): Good comfortable hotel - Very attractive hotel. Good sized room and good breakfast. No pool unfortunately. A good one night stop in Dubrovnik
- janine (10/5): - Clean, good sized rooms with wifi and AC. They'll arrange a shuttle if needed to and from the airport. Several food options within 2 or 3 blocks, though they may be u steep hills. The only thing I'd have liked was to have a fridge in the room, or even a vending machine for a cold drink
- Eckardt (8/5): - Decent room, friendly staff and lovely breakfast and dinner options
- Ashok (6/5): - The room was fine, but the shower stall was inconveniently small and hot/cold water erratic. The walk from the hotel to a convenience store, shops and restaurants was along a the road with no footpath
- Yu (6/5): - Good location, near to bus station which takes you to old town. Free parking is nice,
While very poor sound insulation, WI-FI is unstable.
- Ronald (10/5): Super nice - Very nice hotel. Rooms good size, bathroom/shower/balcony ... Big !!
Large variety on buffet.
Super friendly staff.
I would definitely recommend this hotel
- Emily (10/5): - Very clean and lovely hotel. Great air conditioning in room, and loved the balcony!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall it was good. Not so far from bus n. 4 and 6 stops which leads directly to the old town. Beds are super comfy. It's clean and the most important staff are friendly and they allowed us to leave our luggage for 5 days until we come back which we appreciate a lot
- Barry (10/5): - Stayed at Hotel Ivka for a week with my partner. It was a lovely stay, the staff were helpful and efficient. The hotel is really well maintained and spotless clean which was great to see.
Breakfast had a great selection and i looked forward to it each day.
The only thing missing to make it all perfect was that unfortunately there is no fridge in the rooms.
The stay exceeded our expectations and i would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very pleasant stay. Friendly staff. Good location of hotel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Ivka was more like a hostel type hotel than hotel. The furniture was old and cheap and the toilet and genarl bathroom items were cheap and uncomfortable. Although the space was big in room and bathroom, it made us feel we had a private hostel room. Not at all what I expected.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel had great views towards the Adriatic and the location was convenient
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was super helpful. We had to depart prior to breakfast so they even arranged a full bag of food for us to take to the airport
- Verified traveler (8/5): - There are a lot of five star hotels in Dubrovnik and they are quite pricey. If that isn't your thing, or, more likely, if you are on a budget, then I would recommend Hotel Ivka. It is a solid choice: clean, if somewhat basic rooms, comfortable beds, a bright and pleasant ambiance, and a decent, good value breakfast built into the (affordable) price. Some rooms have beautiful views (ask for that). Location is not bad: a 10-15 minute walk into the main pedestrian street in Lapad and a 15-20 minute walk to Sunset Beach. City walls easily accessible by #6 bus or else a taxi ride (hotel can call a cab or you can Uber).
- UB (8/5): - No problem with parking; front desk not too friendly but informative enough how to get to the Old City of Grad; staff during breakfast were friendly and helpful; the food was great. The room was clean. It was false advertising on the website on Expedia, checkout time was 12noon but front desk called at 11:20am, making sure we are not staying another night & insisted the checkout time was 11am that was frustrating for us when we were relaxing after breakfast, now was being hurried up for the checkout.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bathroom is outdated but clean. Breakfast buffet was great. A little smile from the hotel staff would go a long way
- Verified traveler (8/5): - There is absolutely no sound insulation. I was waking up several times during the night when other people were coming back from parties. I also could perfectly hear how other people were taking shower in their rooms.
- Constance (10/5): A very pleasant place to stay - We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Ivka in Dubrovnik. Check in was simple, and as we were a little early, he checked, and allowed us to gain access to the room since it was ready.
Our room was extremely spacious, and very comfortable. Everything worked that needed to work, and we were very happy with the room, though it was a bit dated.
One note: Be sure to take your own shampoo and conditioner. There is a soap dispenser at the sink and another in the shower, but the shower one is gel not shampoo. #hadfuzzyhair
We ate at the dinner buffet and were extremely pleased with the quality and variety of the food, as well as the service of the waiters. The breakfast buffet was amazing for its variety and quantity. I can’t imagine there was much missing; soy milk was offered as an alternative to cow’s milk.
We chose to walk to Old Town Dubrovnik, which is 3km each way. The stroll was pleasant. A taxi would be an option though it looks as though the bus system is well organized.
Overall: splendid! We would stay here again. Thank you for your hospitality!
- Adrian (10/5): - nice hotel, excellent service and good location...
- Verified traveler (10/5): Ladies trip - The employees were very helpful— hotel was in a great location- close to sunset beach
- Steffi (8/5): Location.. location.. location - Hotel location is great for both walking (27 mins) and taking bus #6 (10 mins on the bus) to old town. The bus station is only 3 mins walk from the hotel. There are several good restaurants within 5 mins walking from hotel. Hotel breakfast is tasty and offers a large variety of selections. We definitely will stay here again.
- Fellipe (8/5): Good hotel - Nice
- PfLA (6/5): - Good location. Near bus lines to the old city. Convenient stores.
On the downside, the bathroom had a musty/rotten odor.
- rey (8/5): - close to the old town, nice patio, spacious room. free wifi
- Luis (10/5): - NIce hotel with free parking at 30 minutes walking from Historical Dubrovnic.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - 1. Toilet area in bathroom smelled like urine. Contacted staff and they agreed with odor and only sprayed an air freshener around area.
2. Air conditioner cooled room very poorly and staff said unit was working properly and left situation at that.
I'm not one to complain but I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody
- Geno (6/5): Disappointment - Stayed here 2 nights. We felt hotel reception staff was not that friendly. We did not get maid service because no one told us if you leave the key card in the room slot ( we had 2 key cards) a light will indicate you're in the room and the maid will not come in. After we complained about the room not getting maid service hotel reception person said it would get taken care of when we're out that evening. When we got back the room had not been properly serviced ( bed not made, bathroom still not cleaned). We complained again and they did give us a discount on the room rate which was nice (expensive room). I think one could probably find another hotel around same price or little more and be much more satisfied. Just sayin
- Siret (10/5): Quiet and comfortable - We were happy to stay there as we booked at last minute (night before). Good location and clean spacious rooms. Thank You!
- Anthony (8/5): Visit to Istria - A Very nice hotel, well situated in the centre of Pula, giving access to all visitor attractionsrd. It was also not too far from the Airport making the journey relatively easy. Food in the hotel was of a good standard, with other local restaurants nearby.
- John (8/5): Nice hotel - Friendly staffs and clean room. Very close to port.
- Kike (6/5): Enough to sleep for a Dubrovnik visit - Room was spacious. Rates competitive and reception personel ok. The dining room team was always in a hurry to remove the buffet 20 mins before the hour instead of serving the customers. I requested laundry service and it was denied since "we do it in another hotel" and I was sent to a dry-cleaning place 100m from the Hotel. They could have done it!! The matresses were very uncomfortable. My wife had a coffee in the terrace the first day and spilled some on the floor. It was not cleaned during my stay.
- Richard (8/5): Hotel Ivka - Hotel was very comfortable, large breakfast area with a lot of choice. WiFi worked well. Spacious room had a balcony. The bus station is about 15-20 minute walk away, the old town a bit further in the other direction. A supermarket is within 5 minutes walk.
- helena (6/5): Pleasant Stay, however...... - There was a mix up with my booking but Expedia customer service were very diligent in sorting it out and advised me in writing accordingly. On arrival I was told my husband and I would have to be in separate rooms since the booking made was a single one only. I tried to explain this had all been sorted out but at that point the young man on reception was tellling me about costs and inferring what I said was ridiculous. At that stage I said I would call Expedia and he immediately told us the number of our room which was a twin bed saying his sales department would have to deal with it. Because of this encounter and feeling very uncomfortable I accepted the room for the entire stay but it was noisy from traffic which seemed to run most hours of the day. I didn't feel rested. If I booked again I would ask for a quiet room. We heard no more about a wrong booking.
Other than our initial contact the staff were most helpful and friendly. The beds were comfortable, the air conditioner in our room was efficient but pretty noisy to leave on during the night.
The breakfast and dinner were good.
- Rob (8/5): Comfortable, conveniently-located hotel - Nothing to shout about but comfortable and a convenient base for visiting the Old Town and the Lapad Peninsula. Breakfast buffets were rather bland but there was plenty there to keep you going through the day! As the outside temperatures were over 30 deg C during our stay (with little respite at night) then we left the air conditioning on full blast throughout the nights but this was a little noisy. Staff were very polite and helpful. Booking transfers to/from the airport was easy.
- Barbara (8/5): Short stay in Dubrovnik. - Fine hotel. No frills but spacious room, full breakfast, nice outlook and good location.
- Virginia (8/5): - the hotel was in quite a good position, bus stops close and 10 mins to old town and walking distance to the yacht club and harbour and also to a really lovely area of restaurants and bay with swimming rock pools/areas, situated infront of a variety of lovely hotels. This area had great atmosphere during the day and in the evening. Our room didn't have a view and on the small size.Pleasant foyer and sitting area out the front. No toaster/ toast at breakfast.Staff pleasant.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Easy to get to Old Town, about 10 minutes on the bus. Hotel was clean, room was big, also a big balcony with the room. Wifi connection in the room was sporadic. Breakfast was not very good, most of the hot food was gone when we arrived about an hour before it was due to end.
Front desk staff very pleasant and helpful.
- jackie (8/5): Good Stay - Good hotel, friendly staff. Near bus stop to town 10 mins.
- Ed (8/5): Very nice hotel close to the Marina. - Its a great hotel and would have given it a 5, but I don't see how it's close to a beach. It is close to a Marina.
- laaiba (6/5): Not bad, definitely not great! - Spacious room and bathroom with large balcony with a beautiful view, particularly at night time. Very basic but you get what you pay for. The major downside is that the bathroom had a strong stench or urine. We did complain, however the problem wasn't fixed (leaky pipe). This made the stay uncomfortable as we dreaded going for a shower or using the toilet as the smell was unbearable especially during the day when it was hot. Location was pleasant, away from the hustle and bustle but not too far from the old town. There was regular bus access (6min walk to bus stop) to Pile Sq about 30kuna return and 10-12min. The return bus drops you at a different location due to the one way system (we got a bit lost the first time) but the locals were friendly and helped direct us to the hotel. Taxi from Pile Sq to hotel cost 88-90kuna (£10ish) and took about 7min. The hotel is very close to the port (under 5min in a taxi and 15-20min walk) so handy for island hopping. Hotel staff were helpful and let us leave our luggage after check out until the evening.
The breakfast was very basic but acceptable if you don't have an appetite in the morning and just want a quick bite before heading out.
I would still recommend this hotel, as despite the bathroom problem the pros outweigh the cons!
- Rory (10/5): Hotel Ivka Dubrovnik - I was on my own and the staff were brilliant in helping me find my way about. Also Boston and the team in the restaurant/bar were fantastic. They couldn't do enough for me and got to know me. An ideal hotel away from the beach for the older solo traveller.
- Alan (10/5): Very pleasant hotel. - Good, clean hotel in a handy location to the ferry terminal. Good restaurant nearby.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice - Close to town and free breakfast and parking, love it...
- Kris (10/5): Excellent Hotel - This hotel is only a few minutes walk to the harbour and the number 6 bus to the Old Town bus passes the door. It has free underground parking. The staff are excellent. Always smiling and helpful!! The food in the restaurant is very good. We stayed here for 6 nights and I have not a single criticism to make. It is a perfect hotel for a visit to Dubrovnik.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good views of the sea - Situated in a massive complex this hotel was not quick to find. The room was ok but nothing special. Needs to provide WIFI in rooms as the reception area is the only access point which was crowded. Food was plentiful and restaurant was nicely decorated. No food was available when we arrived late and so we were directed to the only pizza place in the complex just a couple of minutes walk. The staff of the pizza place were helpful and friendly. The staff in the reception looked over worked as so many people needed booking in and out and they were limited to 1 computer working at a time. Probably because they are WIFI limited. A lot of potential being wasted. Good views of the coast.
- Howard (6/5): stay in dubrovnik - Only stoppped for 1 night ,so adequate for our needs
- couple (8/5): Good when visiting old city. - Hotel good location. Jump on a bus or walk (25 minutes). Food basic but good.
- Hon Yee (6/5): Hotel ivka - Average hotel, cold service.
