Guest Reviews
- Beatriz (10/5): - The place was walking distance very clean and quiet stuff very friendly a plus including breakfast
- Enrique (8/5): - Maso
- Wendy (8/5): - Walkable
- Pedro (4/5): - Staff was to noise, we could sleep well, you can heard staff talking loud from our room.
Bathroom smell like urine, shower bad condition .
- Amanda (4/5): - Bathroom horrendous. Clean sheets and towels. Staff helpful.
- Masoud (8/5): - Clean place, friendly and helpful staff. Wish they had elevators.
- Duda (4/5): - The front desk staff were great, but the room wasn’t clean, the bathroom looks totally different than the photos and unfortunately we found a bed bug in our bed. We couldn’t even sleep, it was our last night at the hotel. Although we only found one bug, we felt uncomfortable and we are afraid we’ll have to deal with laundry and drying all of our clothes and bags mid trip. Wish I could get a partial refund, as we couldn’t sleep during our last night there.
- Cristina (8/5): Fair for the price - Good location to several sites. Must carry luggage up a few flight of stairs. Staff friendly, but Housekeeping was terrible. Forgot to restock our room with soap and TP. Dusty ledges and tile that haven't been cleaned in a while. Room needs a good cleaning.
- Shahrokh (8/5): - Old furniture
- Gauravkumar (8/5): - Hotel property condition is quite old but staff is super helpful. Room size is also good.
- TIBOR (10/5): - I like all
- Sangkyu (4/5): Not recommended hotel - Noisy due to next door sound and door closing sound.
Terrible in shower area.
- Fiona (2/5): Don’t waste your money - If you like toilet seats with tape, pillow cases with cigarette holes in them and lack of proper lock, then you must stay at this hotel!
- Joseph (8/5): A diamond in the rough: - This place starts on the 2nd floor although the front desk (check-in) is on the 4th floor. There is no elevator.. Breakfast is the best I had in Italy for a hotel, customer service was great. It is obvious to me that that this hotel is trying to deliver great customer service, they had a kitchen in which you could go get hot water, coffee, hot chocolate, etc.. for free 24 x 7. They also had vending machines. For the price of these rooms, the rooms were very comfortable. The rooms were decent sized and clean. The hotel had been upgrading the bathrooms, which were more modern. When we needed a cab, we used the hotel to call us one, they came within a few minutes. We stayed here for four days, it was a great visit.
- Michele (10/5): - Nice staff. I think their were stairs
- Johanne (10/5): - The staff are friendly. Area is close to nice places. Breakfast is nice. The only thing i didn't like was having to go up the stairs (4th floor) to the reception and room
- Aileen (10/5): - Weve been to paris, london, roma and this is the first time we got bigger room and we are happy about it.Euri and Juan has been a great help to us.Euri did help us to carry our luggages since the hotel doesnt have a lift.Best hotel in Europe so far.
- Alexander (8/5): - Excellent Staff, very efficient and friendly.
The room is too small, the bathroom is very small and the room does not have a rewfrigerator.
- Randy (6/5): - Hotel d'Aveglio staff was WONDERFUL and the breakfast was generous and had good variety. The room was okay. Due to high ceilings the heater and A/C did struggle. And for me the bed was quite hard. Being on the third floor means, 0,1,2,3 ... Americans would say "4th floor ... it was 59 long steps to transport our suitcases (no elevator). The location was pretty good but due to steps I have so say "inconvenient". Staff helped my roommate with her bag. It's a very good choice for younger stronger clients.
- Alexia (4/5): - While the staff was kind, the property was unpleasant. There were bed bugs in my room, and when I approached the staff to check out early and ask for a refund, I was told the reason I had bites was because I didn’t have my room cleaned the day before. I stayed 2 of my 4 nights and was only refunded for the nights I didn’t stay. The property is a decent walk away from the heart of the city, so there were not many redeeming qualities about this hotel. I appreciated the manager’s sincerity in her apology, but unfortunately this experience put a damper on my experience in Florence.
- FRANCISCO (8/5): - Friendly staff
- Michelle (6/5): A mixed bag. - The hotel is set in a quiet area a small walk from the city. The hotel is very basic, and on the second floor, up two and a half flights of stone steps. No lifts. Not for the weak!! We were told, on arrival, that we were being placed in an apartment, 15 minutes from the hotel, and that we’d have to walk to the hotel for breakfast (come rain or shine). The ‘apartment’ was shocking. A pull out camp bed, and shower/toilet in a closet. After a lot of walking too and fro, we declined and were given a room in the hotel. The room was spotless . The mattresses didn’t fit the bed base, but we were comfortable. And the bathroom was good with very good shower. The breakfast was ok, (although the seating arrangement was chaotic to say the very least), the coffee was really good. Generally a mixed bag, but I’m pleased we managed to get a room inside the hotel, as the ‘apartment’ would have been untenable.
- Michelle (6/5): - 54 STAIRS. It is on the "second" floor, no elevator, but it's not the second floor, it's the second hotel. After a long day of travel those stairs are a killer with suitcases. Their website does say no elevator, but it also says 2nd floor. Room was nice, big, a little tired looking, but clean. The shower door only opens about 12 inches so if you are overweight, no shower for you. Breakfast was a good continental spread, cappucinos were awesome. If you can avoid room 6, you should. It is between the top of the stairs and reception and right across from the kitchen, and therefore gets quite loud at times. Overall pleasant experience
- Martin D. (8/5): Florence on a budgett - The room is dated but clean! The staff was helpful and friendly. The price was right!
- Tatiana (8/5): - Property very conveniently located near historic district-walkable distance. Safe neighborhood. Good breakfast. Staff was very nice and helpful. The building itself is in need of remodel.
- Yogesh (8/5): - Perfect for our needs, especially for the price. Clean, comfortable environment. Nice breakfast and very friendly accommodating staff.
- Yolanda (10/5): - People are very friendly and good breakfast!
- Phaniraja (8/5): - Friendly staff
- Sonja (6/5): - liked central location. Parking was supposed to be available, but we never got the info. Really is a cheap facility. Works to stay for a night, but not much to write home about.
- Elisabetta (8/5): - If you would like to experience Florence as a local, this hotel is perfect for it! Walking distance to the main piazza (Duomo and shopping) and many restaurants near by serving phenomenal food.
- Viviana (4/5): - The apartment was not in the building announced. They sent us to another location. The outside looked terrible and the building in the inside too. It was very small. It was late and we didn't have a choice but to stay because it was not refundable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Too old. - Old app.
- Madina (2/5): - It was really damp in the room, the bathroom was super small, no lift, I fell on the floor bcs the bathroom floor was all wet after the shower, because there was no proper draining, it smelled awful like mold, it just totally ruined my impression about the stay(((
The lady the owner was nice though, but they definitely need to do something with draining, smell, the damp.
- Dominique (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay in the hotel - it was clean and close enough to get to the Duomo and museums. The room was air-conditioned (bonus) and the breakfast was simple but quite delicious. The building and facilities were a little on the older side but it offered my family a room to accommodate 4 people and it was positive experience overall.
- art (6/5): - Good clean hotel. Friendly staff and nice breakfast. The only problems were:
You have to go up 54 steps to get to the hotels and it is a long way from any of the attractions.
- Zachary (2/5): - Do not stay here. They overbooked and were out of hotel rooms when I arrived so I got moved to an appartment a couple blocks away. I just went with it because I was only staying a couple nights and didn't want to look for somewhere else, this was a mistake. Appartment had bugs of some kind, woke up with lots of bites. Also missing certain promised amenities including Wifi.
- Gohar (10/5): - The staff was friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast.
- Raza (8/5): - Very nice place for the value. The property needs a bit of upkeep. There was a plumbing issue which was sorted out during my stay. The host Margarita was excellent. Most helpful and friendly with good advice. Older people or those with heavy luggage may not book because they may have to walk up 2/3 flights of stairs to get to the hotel reception and rooms.
- Hortensia (8/5): - I loved Mararita’s customer service.Always willing to help and very pleasant. The hotel needs to update the bathroom too small and falling apart. Besides that the location and breakfast was good. I’ll use this hotel again if the faculty gets an update.
- DIEGO (10/5): - The property is well located near the center of the city. It takes only 10 or 12 minutes to all the main attactions. The staffs are bilingual and super friendly and super nice. Very safe area where is located specially for families.
- Alireza (2/5): - Terrible smell inside the room. Toilet flash doesn't work properly. So dirty
- Natarajan (4/5): - Good breakfast
Good service. The staff speak English which was very helpful for us.
Good location.
Clean room
Unfortunately the bathroom smelled so bad. It's the raw egg smell you get when water is stagnant for a while. The shower area is designed such that the water seaps onto the floor where the toilet is and drains back. Water gets stagnant in that process and honestly not bearable.
The pillows were so overused that i had trouble sleeping, but the beds were good.
- Doran (8/5): - The hotel was OK but we booked too late and ended up paying close to $250 a night which was much too much for what we got. On the plus side the staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was simple but nice with some excellent torts and cake. It was clean. The location was good - about a 15 min walk to the center. On the minus side, it's in a converted older apartment building and the entrance is 54 steps up on the third level with no elevator - not for the infirm with heart conditions and/or heavy luggage. The room was on the small side with inexpensive but not uncomfortable beds. I think there was a mirror, but nothing else on walls - even Italian prison cells get a crucifix ;-) Bathroom was an add-in and very small. In short, if you can get this place for a decent price and all you are looking for is a place to stay, then this place is fine.
- Michael (8/5): - Truly great staff. Run by the owner who is very personable. Breakfast is standard continental. Building is a little run down, and there are no elevators. You have to haul your luggage up three flights of stairs! It is just outside of ZTL, so one does *not* have to worry about that, and they have a parking garage about 5min walk away, again, outside ZTL.
- GEORGE (8/5): - With qualifications, this is an ideal 3-star hotel (great staff, location, breakfast, etc). However, be aware of several challenges: 1) Couldn’t find our reservation for 4 or 5 worrisome minutes, before mentioning that there was “another hotel” on the 3rd floor (i.e., It’s on the 3rd NOT 1st floor); 2) ALL the rooms are on the 3rd floor. It’s a 54 step climb; and there’s NO elevator; 3) It’s a15 minute walk to the garage and a 20 drive in heavy traffic.
Because, I’m in my70s; I might not stay here again, unless I could be sure someone like the young man, who was eager to haul ALL 75 lbs of our luggage up the 54 stair steps, would be available.
- TERENCE (8/5): Very helpful staff - The staff were very helpful and pleasant and I had a very comfortable room. I found the situation of the hotel very suitable for me. On the negative side the hotel is on the second floor but this involves 54 steps. The hotel is modest and probably could do with some refurbishment.
- Edward (8/5): Friendly and clean but not comfortable - This hotel was alright. The staff was super friendly and the breakfast was good. The beds and pillows weren't very comfortable and it was a bit overpriced.
- Rosa (10/5): - Happy with the hotel and the service
Clean and quiet area green!
- Beverly (8/5): - The breakfast was good. Air conditioning worked well. Good location. Lobby on 2nd floor with no elevator. Reasonable room for the price.
- John (8/5): Modest, Clean, Friendly - Highly personable and friendly staff! Rooms are clean though modest. It is on the third floor of a building that houses another hotel on the ground floor. The courtyard is only accessible to the other hotel. Great little breakfast.
There is a city tax of 4.5 Euros per person per night, payable only in cash, which surprised us, but is apparently standard. It was the only time we needed cash on our trip.
- Allen (2/5): - It was dirty and had bed bugs, it was up three flights of stairs with no elevator. No parking.
- EFREN (4/5): - Everything was fine
- Andrew (2/5): - Bed bugs. Refused a refund and to fund the difference of another hotel after promising to do so. Will report to local health authorities.
- Robert (2/5): - Very little security. One thin sheet on the bed. Had a chemical smell. Definitely not worth what I paid for
- Trail (8/5): - This is a nice property for the area and the proximity to walk.
- Mehriban (8/5): - Love the staff and hotel
- Anthony (2/5): - Terrible and dirty
- Pankaj (10/5): - Great breakfast! The front desk staff is very helpful.
- Alex (8/5): - Great spot, very quiet. Easy walk to downtown.
- Evelyn (4/5): - The property had one person waiting to hand us the keys to our rooms at night when we arrived, it was a late arrival and then he left. No one available to bring you needed at night. The room tile was broken but the room was clean. I had to walk with care in order not to cut my feet.
- Renee (8/5): - Excellent staff, breakfast had lots of selection. Coffee was not good. Rooms were clean and air conditioning was excellent. No elevator so 50 steps up to hotel.
- Angelica (8/5): - We loved the hotel, the room was very spacious and clean, staff was wonderful and very helpful, breakfast was decent, please be aware that you need to climb 4 sets of stairs to get to the hotel, the staff helps with luggage but if you have mobility issues this is not the best location
- Lucero (4/5): - There was no one at the reception for check-in or check-out. You have to look for him.
The hotel is on the “second floor” but to reach the 2nd floor there’s a lot of stairs (not recommendable if you bring luggage, it’s really a lot of steps).
Breakfast is included, but it’s really light (you can make yourself a sandwich, there’s cereal, sweet bread & coffe/hot chocolate/milk/tea/water and flavored water (not juice)).
There’s no laundry as it says in the amenities.
The room was big and spacious, but the light is really low.
- 535kelseyf (4/5): I read a step up from a hostel & now, I would agree. Reviews are not accurate to current conditions on this one. - If you are looking for a budget stay, this is it, but just beware.
Great location.
Super kind and helpful manager/owner.
Very outdated.
Not super clean feeling.
Our AC leaked.
You can hear everything due to being super thin walls.
Our bathroom smelt pretty bad when you would use the sink.
Pillows were basically flat.
Our room was so small we could barely move around with our luggage in the room.
TV didn't work.
The bed was terribly uncomfortable, and we were sore after sleeping on it.
It just needs a lot of updating, maintenance, and upgrades to furniture.
- Sandra (6/5): - The bathroom was dirty and the pillows on the bed smelled like dirty greasy head and the floor was dirty as well.Breakfast was good but
- david (10/5): - Precio-calidad, muy bueno. Gente muy amable. Apartado del bullicio pero a la vez cercano a las maravillas de la ciudad.
- Evelyn (10/5): Nice, boutique hotel close to city center - Great location; Yuri was amazing. He welcomed us and helped us get settled as well as recommended several places to visit. Breakfast is provided; decent continental fare with plenty of coffee. Hotel is on an upper floor, so be prepared to walk a few flights of stairs. Florence is a walking city, so par for the course.
- Pihla (8/5): - We had a good stay here. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely. The location was excellent. There were quite a lot of building works happening in the street but that is not something the hotel can control. A good stay thank you!
- Sheila (4/5): - It was ok, no door or curtain on shower, bed hard, limited breakfast , staff were nice. No elevator, carried luggage up 3 flights of stairs, but staff carried down
- Tasha (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay here ! Modern room with new upgrades , clean and in a great location for walking all over Florence ! Wonderful price.
- Blaine (8/5): - The property is a little rundown, probably because of what Covid has done to small businesses like this the last few years. The woman at the front desk was amazing and so friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.
- Adam (10/5): - Great stay here for a few nights in Florence. We had a free upgrade when we arrived which included a private bathroom instead of shared. The lady couldn't of been more helpful and welcoming. Bathroom was modern and breakfast was adequate and had everything we needed. Coffee machine with options for hot chocolate and warm milk too!
Would definitely stay here again when in Florence
- Carol (8/5): - The Propert is about a 20 minute walk from the Duomo. There is a bus stop at the end of the street that can connect you to any area in Florence. The room was spacious and clean with a working AC unit. The breakfast was good and plenty, and the staff was very helpful. It is worth mentioning that the property is run-down and needs major renovations. The hotel is in the third floor of a building, with over 50 stairs to climb to reach the entrance of the hotel.
- Dario (8/5): - It was a very happy and sincere happy place we loved it
- Roberta (8/5): - The place was very simple but very comfortable. The staff, Mr. Yuri, was very friendly and helpful. The location is great. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was small and the air conditioner was not so cold but wasn’t bad as well. The property was on the third floor. Even though, I enjoyed staying there. It was great!
- Yunuen (8/5): - It is located on the 2nd. floor. No elevator. Friendly staff. They allowed us to left our luggage on the hotel after check out. Breakfast has the basic: coffee, bread, cereal, ham & fruit. Near from Galleria dell'Accademia (15 min walk).
- Zaira (10/5): - Very centrally located, good location. Clean, spacious room and bathroom.
- Jiangtao (10/5): - It is one very nice hotel to stay. Hotel staff is very kind to provide flexible check in and check out and also provide breakfast with our special requests.
- Steven (10/5): - The receptionist was very helpful and always with great attitude. I liked the fact that the A/C was great because in June is very hot and humid there. The freshly baked croissants was a nice plus ;)
- COLO_USA (2/5): 1 step up from a hostel - 1 step up from a hostel. Room was old and tired. Pillows and duvet needs to be replaced. Didn’t feel clean. Rusted everything in the extremely small bathroom.
This “hotel” 🙄 is 4 flights up with no elevator.
Breakfast is fine but breakfast room is very hot. No a/c in there.
Positive. IT HAS A/C!
- Connie (8/5): - The owners had a problem with our room when we got there to check in but he put us up in another hotel and paid our taxi ride there . They were very accommodating and hospitable.
- Osvaldo (8/5): - Great value stay. The neighborhood has many restaurants and it is close enough to walk to all major attractions.
- Vacation728484 (2/5): DO NOT trust the ratings on this hotel - So my family and I are in the midst of a whirlwind trip through Northern Italy and during our stay in Florence we attempted to stay at Hotel D'Azeglio, a hotel I had booked though my Expedia account. It had good reviews, was affordable, and allowed dogs which was all we really look for in choosing a hotel. However the reality of it once we got there was pretty awful. Starting with the smell of cigarette smoke when I walked into the dank stairwell that led up to the hotel (on the 3rd floor), to the broken AC unit in our room (in 90+ degree weather), to the guests that kept smoking cigarettes outside our door (keep in mind this place is listed as a smoke free property) and ending with the fact that there is barely any electrical outlets this was truly one of the worst hotel experiences we've had in a long time. And trust me we are far from hoity toity. We actually sacrificed a night that we had already paid for (and they wouldn't refund) in order to go stay elsewhere. The only saving grace of this place is the lady that runs it was very nice, relatively apologetic (although she kept saying that she already knew about the smokers and there was nothing she could do about it) and that the breakfast food she made for us was pretty good. Perhaps we just had bad luck with this place but I feel it is my responsibility to warn people that this place will most likely not look, smell or feel like it is purported to be.
- AG (10/5): - Very nice place, very reasonable pricing, great staff, within walking distance to a lot of attractions, and in the square for shopping and dinning.
- feanshus2019 (8/5): Sweetest owner/manager from my entire europe trip - The rooms were nice + the breakfast was good.
Just a heads up that the hotel is at the second floor of the building without lift but the manager/ owner was extremely kind enough to carry both our bags of 24 kgs each to the 2nd floor. Also, he offered us to take away some breakfast otherwise i would have missed my bus.
- Hasegawa (4/5): - We have reserved and paid gor this hotel two moths before but when we get there they said no room available .but he gave us a another good hotel by his payment .how ever I totally lost four hours and my plans at florence cancelled due to the delay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice and comfortable stay. Walkable distance from the train station Campa De Marte. The host Margareta was very welcoming.
- 367javierm (2/5): A big disappointment - My room was totally different from the photos.
the worst room I've ever been in my life.
To be fair, I must say that it was clean.
The floor of the shower unit was a platform of wooden
I don´t recomend it.
- Mary (6/5): Adequate but not quaint - The picture on the website is deceitful. There is a 4 flight walk up and no lift. The rooms were adequate and breakfast was pleasant enough. The location was not convenient to car rental or train.
- David (10/5): Nice hotel with good service. - The stay at the Hotel D'Azeglio was good, the room was a family room for 2 of us so was plenty big enough. The check in was quick and easy with good service. The shower room was good with a good hot shower, but i suppose if you wanted a bath you would be disappointed but luckily we didn't need one. The breakfast was good if basic but was a good start for the day. Breakfast is my favourite meal and it was good enough for me. My only disappointment was that the air conditioning system in the room was not very good and didn't cool the room and it was warm in Florence at the time. All in all for the money a good hotel bearing in mind Florence is not cheap to stay in. Florence centre was a 15min walk from the Hotel which was nice as you walked through a local part of the City.
- Mingfeng (6/5): - Mosquito, sheets not change daily, location is bad , no elevator so you have to bring everything to 3rd floor hotel
- VERONICA (8/5): Family trip - Great staff and good budget hotel. Great location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location. Very clean. Fast checking. Shower too small
- Laurentiu (4/5): - We arrived early at the hotel, spoke to the person at the reception who told us the room number but since it was too early in the morning we left the luggage with them and went to the city to return at the regular check-in time. We came back around 5:00 pm, so 3 hours after the regular check-in time and this time we were told that we can't stay in the original room that was communicated to us in the morning for some unspecified reason. We were offered another room for two people which we didn't accept since we were three guests and they finally offered us a room after that could accommodate 3 people after 7 pm. We were extremely tired from the flight and roaming through the city but they didn't seem to care and didn't offer us any explanation of why this happened.
- edwin (8/5): Nice budget hotel - Nice quiet location but no elevator and dated interior & toilet, otherwise will do for sort stay. Breakfast was good too.
- Dorothy (8/5): - Staff are positively wonderful .... friendly, helpful and accommodating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Absolutely loved this hotel. My kids said it was the best one we stayed at on the whole trip. It included breakfast, which was delicious and the staff we delightful.
- OyaS46 (4/5): old and cold - my family and our friends stayed at this hotel for 2 nights; we arrived hotel at about 11:00pm and after a long drive from Turin we had to carry the all heavy luggages up to third floor because the hotel entrance is on the third floor and no lift; no bellboy to help!
we had a quadruple and our friends had a triple room; rooms are very simple with high ceilings; I realised a bit of smell in the room but for the night of 12pm we stayed in the room. For the bathroom; you have to be really slim fit to fit in the shower in order to get shower! because it is really small and useless. Shower and bathroom should be updated. Aircondition was not working and we got cold in the room; no heating.
During our stay of 2 nights there was only one guy at the reception, at the breakfast and there was no one except him; he was very helpfull and was the only man working at the hotel.
Overall I do not recommend this hotel.
- Michael (8/5): - Clean and friendly, with a good breakfast spread and a spacious area to have tea and coffee during the day. The walls could use repainting but the staff keeps the place well run. Water temperature could get uneven at times but generally comfortable. On a quiet residential street near a neighborhood park where locals walked their dogs. Up a few flights of stairs and about a 15 min walk to most sightseeing areas. Make sure to budget time to pay the cash-only tourist tax of 3 Euros per night per person charged upon checkout.
- Jeanna (10/5): Quiet and accommodating - Very quiet and tidy, easy walk to the central attractions of Florence. The management worked with us for early check in and check out to accommodate our travel schedule. Breakfast provided a range of buffet items, and hot beverages. The hotel is up 3 flights of stairs with no elevator. The rooms could use an update but were clean and comfortable. The water temperature on the shower took some cautious adjustment for the desired temperature.
