Guest Reviews
- Olga (9/5): - Wonderful location just 10 min away from San Marco Square. Hotel with history and beautiful details in rooms and dining area, marine theme inspired, slightly old, but very charming. Amazing views onto lagoon and the sunset. Wonderful breakfast, which you can also enjoy outside. The staff was very kind and helpful. Steps away from Arsenale Biennale exhibition and a short walk to Giardini. Easy to get there from the airport with a boat - the Arsenale stop is 2 minutes away. If you want a more calm placement in the city yet still be in the center - this could’t be a better option. Really enjoyed my stay here.

- Dana (10/5): We enjoyed the stay - Location and helpfull staff Continues repairs
- Alberto (9/5): -
- William (10/5): Highly recommend. - Friendly, accommodating staff. Great view of the city. Private terrace adjoining room 501. Planter boxes on the private terrace were nice but blocked your view of the city when sitting.
- margaret (9/5): A wonderful place to stay when visiting Venice if you want to be a 10 minute walk away from crowds - Excellent breakfast
Very friendly, helpful staff and great location overlooking the lagoon
- MsThomas (10/5): Fab views and friendly helpful staff. - A lovely smallish hotel so not impersonal. Rooms reminded me of cabins and the view from our room 404 had fantastic views across the lagoon. Only a 10 minute walk to St Marks Square. Staff helpful in booking restaurants and very friendly. Would return on our next visit.
- 540ramseyc (10/5): Trip to Venice - I came with my wife to Venice for 3 nights, and 4 days.
We stayed in hotel Bucintoro in San Marco.
It was a lovely hotel, away from the tourist bomb, with a local vibe to it.
Walking distance to all the tourist attractions in San Marco and San Polo.
The team were amazing especially Paolo and Stefano Fiore.
They helped book me a private speed boat from the airport to the hotel (50 yards walking to hotel), as well as booking a couples massage, a concert in Chiesa della pieta to enjoy Vivaldi’s Quattro stagioni violin masterpiece, and much more.
The room was clean, with an all marble bathroom, attentive house keeping, and delicious breakfast.
There is a seating area outside to enjoy an early morning coffee, or an aperol in the afternoon.
When we come back, no doubt where we’ll stay.
- M2558FSalisonl (10/5): An excellent hotel - Everything about the hotel Bucintoro was excellent.
The staff were really helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. They were happy to arrange restaurant and trip bookings on our behalf.
There was a huge variety of very tasty and different food at breakfast time.
Our room was perfect. Cleaned daily and it had four windows each with a view of the water.
All round brilliance!
- Departure29633821609 (10/5): Small welcoming hotel - We chose this hotel for its location, close enough to walk to St mark's Square but away from the crowds so relatively peaceful and in addition had unrivalled views across the lagoon from our rooms. Also it was just a short walk to some excellent small restaurants in the Castello area. Attentive staff, adequate continental style breakfast and nicely appointed rooms all added to the experience. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for, would recommend a stay here.
- Bartosiewicz (1/5): - To że blokada środków nie. Wróciła na konto
- Larraine (10/5): Great stay, excellent customer service-highly recommend. - The location was in the quieter part of Venice; yet still a walkable distance to the main plaza area. Nothing! I loved everything about the hotel.
- BJL297 (10/5): 3 nights in heaven - Everyone was so friendly and helpful and the accommodation was excellent. We were well and truly spoilt
- Traveler58138 (10/5): Always excellent! - I stayed at this lovely hotel the first time I visited Venice and stay every time I come back. Great hotel, great location and great staff.
- Ulrike (10/5): - Die Lage ist einmal- Blick umwerfend. Nettes, sehr hilfsbereites Rezeptionsteam. Gutes Frühstück. Frühstücksraum etwas eng- nichts für sehr Beleibte.

- 611olgaj (10/5): good expirence - Perfect location. Welcoming staff.Recommended.
- keithwQ8691PN (8/5): Very good, but, for us, not as superb as most reviews suggested. - Just back from four nights at the Bucintoro to celebrate my lovely wife's 70th birthday, so it had to be something special, which the Bucintoro is. I picked it partly for its 4.8/5 reviews, but mainly for its unique location, on the waterfront, just a 10-minute stroll from St.Mark’s Square, with all rooms having an unobstructed view of the lagoon, which even the larger hotels nearer to St.Mark’s don't have. Even better, you can get the Alilaguna waterbus (or a high speed water taxi) direct from the airport to drop you off at Arsenale waterbus stop, just a few yards from the hotel, saving you long walks and dragging heavy luggage up and down the steps of multifarious bridges if you stay elsewhere in Venice. Better still the massive crowds around St.Mark’s Square are generally either too lazy or too time constrained to walk as far as the Bucintoro, so you have no problem finding a table in one of the several restaurants and pizzerias just around the corner from the Bucintoro for your lunch or evening meal, plus there is little noise late at night, other than occasional noisy boats passing. All hotels in Venice are expensive and the Bucintoro seems to be one of the most expensive of them all, which we would never consider for a normal city break, but for an extra special occasion, the convenience of its location, and the views from the high quality furnished rooms, do somewhat outweigh the hefty room rates, for what was, otherwise, for us, just a typical hotel experience.
I freely admit that, although my wife and I always stay in 4-star hotels in Spanish resorts, and we were aware well before we travelled of what it would cost us to stay at the Bucintoro, we are not accustomed to paying anywhere near such high room rates (€374.88 for our final night, €314.16 for our cheapest night for our Superior room), so are we being naive in expecting the highest attention to detail in return? Unfortunately, that is not what we felt we got in some respects. On arrival, just a week after the hotel re-opened after refurbishments, the one small lift was out of action, meaning the poor uniformed porter accompanied us whilst dragging our luggage up four flights of stairs to show us to our 4th floor room. The new electronic door lock wouldn't let us into the room without multiple keycard swipes and a hefty push on the door. The toilet seat came off one of its (insufficiently secured) hinges the first time it was lifted. The air conditioning didn't work (apparently not activated till later in the month), so sleep was disturbed by noisy boats passing in the night due to the open windows for cooling. There was black mould all around the shower tray, and no soap dish, or similar in the compact corner shower cubicle, into which to place the supplied toiletries/soap (all reported to Reception on the first day, but no apparent action taken). And on our final morning, the shower lever-tap decided to not turn off the water properly!
In conclusion, the exceptional reviews from last year, prior to the refurbishment, raised our expectations to a very high level, which for us, unfortunately, didn't materialise. Don't let our experience put you off booking the Bucintoro, but judge the hotel on 2026 reviews, not the much older glowing reviews that tell you everything is absolutely fabulous!
- Charlie (9/5): Enjoyed a wonderful stay made stress free by excellent staff. - The location was perfect. The hotel door opens right out onto the lagoon and is perfectly located for easy reach of main tourist locations, bars and restaurants whilst also being in a nice quiet spot. The views from the room are also exceptional and the reception, breakfast areas and rooms are very clean. Most importantly, the hotel staff could not be more helpful and pleasant. We had to book an additional night at short notice as our flight was cancelled and the staff accommodated us without any fuss and arranged our transport to the airport despite us needed to leave in the extreme early hours. The food at breakfast is very good, wide range of choice and very fresh.
- Sonja (8/5): We were very satisfied with the room and service from the staff - The design of the rooms fitted in with the sea theme. It was like being in a ship, the wood panelling was excellent. The variety at breakfast was excellent Reception area and bar was small.
Ci tornerei! Niente
- Sophie (10/5): Perfetto - Absolutely wonderful hotel and staff. Stefano is such a sweetheart and we want to thank him for being so helpful and kind. The hotel itself was in a great area and you can easily walk everywhere. Great breakfast and a cozy room. If you’re thinking about a hotel where to stay, this is the one! Thank you for taking care of us and making our stay unforgettable.
- Sstretch3 (10/5): Loved it! - Perfect location and beautifully quaint hotel. The view from our room was spectacular.
- Greg (9/5): -
- Connie (10/5): Fantastic. - Everything was just wonderful. Staff were great, view from our room was fantastic.
Hotel has old world charm with keys left at reception.
Breakfast that was included was superb. Nothing
- Deborah (10/5): Definitly the place to go for location - Location and staff are excellent.
Location convenient to the water buses yet quiet for sleeping
Staff very helpful answering questions concerning where to eat, water bus timetables, etc Only downside is the breakfast. Eggs whether scrambled or hard boiled were fine but boring toast and hard rolls. Only ham no turkey. Didn’t replenish the strawberries. Lots of rich cakes - not the healthiest of choices
- Marta (10/5): - Perfect location for the travellers who wish to visit Biennale (Giardini and Arsenale). Very comfortable room, spacious wardrobe and amazing view.
- Arturo (9/5): -
- E6606ALdanielg (10/5): Unforgettable stay! - We are staying at Bucintoro for many years and its always such an amazing place to be. Very charming hotel, cozy design, great breakfast and view to lagoon from each room. Hotel stuff (personal thanks goes to Stefano!) - very friendly and always ready to help with all the bookings, transfers and information. Always unforgettable stay!
- christopherwG3983XV (10/5): The atmosphere of old Venice - I stayed here for three nights in September, and the place left a very calm, almost homely impression. The hotel is small, but with character - it feels like every corner is thought out, nothing superfluous. We got a room with a view of the lagoon, and this is perhaps the main advantage. In the morning, you just open the window, and you can see the gondolas, the light on the water, and all that Venetian bustle, but without the crowd at the door. The interior is made with a ship theme, but not pretentiously - wood, brass, soft light, as if you were on an old liner, only without pitching. Everything is clear about the service. The staff is polite, not intrusive, they speak English calmly and without trying to push for additional services. The breakfasts are modest but delicious - fresh croissants, fruit, and really good coffee, not from the vending machine. However, the tables in the hall are cramped, especially when several couples are recruited at the same time. But the service is fast, and the feeling of fuss does not appear. The location is convenient - a quiet part of the embankment, ten minutes on foot to San Marco, while there is no feeling that you live in the midst of tourist chaos. In the evening, you can safely walk along the water, almost no one, and you can hear the waves slapping against the pier. There is no elevator, which can be inconvenient if your suitcase is heavier, but the staff helps without reminders. The room is clean, the linen is fresh, the air conditioner is quiet, nothing rattles or buzzes like in cheap hotels. The only thing that was a little confusing was that the walls weren't the thickest, and if the neighbors were loudly discussing plans, you could hear them. But, to be honest, it didn't bother, because the city gets tired in the evening, and you fall asleep quickly. The price per room is not low, but by the standards of Venice it is fully justified, especially with this view. The hotel is not about luxury, but about comfort, atmosphere and the feeling that you are not a guest, but a participant in an old sea voyage. I would have returned here without a doubt.
- Renee (10/5): - Everything! The hotel was gorgeous, comfortable and inviting. The breakfast was delicious and the amenities were plenty. Marco was outstanding. He was so sweet to me because he knew I had a sore throat. He and Stephano got me salt to gargle with, lemon tea and directed us to the pharmacy. All with smiles. The owner Gio was gracious and made sure we felt at home. Definitely returning. Ciao! Being sick
- Alberto (9/5): -
- Carey (10/5): Fabulous Venice hotel on the Lagoon - Location was fabulous for a quiet night sleep and easy on & off the Vaporetto. The staff was absolutely incredible and the owner was kind and interactive. The breakfast buffet was delicious and very well “stocked”
- BARBARA (8/5): -
- Hannele (8/5): Recht gut zufrieden - Lage Frühstück

- Rosa (10/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff were particularly helpful before and during our stay. - Location was perfect and close to a vaporetto stop. The view of the Venice lagoon was excellent and the room tastefully decorated. Breakfast was very good and served in a lovely room overlooking the water. Everything was to our liking
- JudyChris (10/5): Great hotel - Hotel was well located on the Grand Canal, away from the tourist throngs, but within walking distance to San Marco and close to a vaporetto stop. The room was comfortable and attractively furnished. The breakfast was excellent with a variety of delicious choices.
However, the best thing about this place was the charming Stefano. He arranged our transfer from the cruise terminal and was most helpful with suggestions for restaurants and other activities. We would definitely return there.
- ChrisandJudy1000 (10/5): Charming hotel in a great location - This is a charming hotel located right on the main canal. Our room (405) was quite spacious with the bonus of a separate sitting room and windows opening directly on to the canal. The bed was comfortable, if a little firmer than we would normally prefer. The A/C worked well as did the internet. The bathroom was a good size, with a shower over a large tub.
The location is ideal. On the edges of the main tourist area - just 10 minutes walk from San Marco square, and 1 minute from a vaporetto station, there were relatively few people on the footpath, so the hotel was very quiet. There are numerous shops and restaurants within very easy walk.
The staff were very helpful - they organised our land/water taxi ride from the cruise terminal to the hotel - the boat docks right beside the hotel.
The included breakfast was excellent.
- acemm (10/5): Amazing stay at Bucintoro - We had a wonderful stay at Bucintoro and recommend this hotel 400%. Stunning views, very confortable, warm atmosphere. Marco, Luca, Antony and all the staff are very nice and helpful. It’s our fifth time in Venice and maybe the best one. The hotel is not far at all from the center (6-7 min walk from Piazza San Marco) and having stayed in different hotels in the deep center, we appreciated the quietness of the Arsenal area. Thank you also to the two very kind and efficient women at breakfast time.
- B4087QYjamiee (10/5): The Staff is worthy of the highest praise and the view of the sea is beautiful - What a gem situated just outside the busy San Marco area. Fantastic views of the sea from our room and the patio where we enjoyed a spritz daily. They had a lot of delicious offerings at breakfast including the best cappuccino in the city. The rooms were spacious, updated and clean. The overall standout was the staff, especially Luca, who went truly above and beyond for us each day. He even made reservations and suggestions prior to our arrival. This little hotel is the perfect place to relax.
- karenhR3297DJ (10/5): Outstanding Service - All of the staff were exceptional. Their service, attention to our needs, and kindness were top notch. I would highly recommend them. The location was perfect, the room comfortable and conveniently located.

- kristaa254 (10/5): Beautiful - Hotel Bucintoro is a welcoming and beautiful place to stay. The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated, and offer stunning views of the water and city. The staff are warm and accommodating, making you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. A perfect spot for comfort, charm, and unforgettable scenery.

- Ili_from_Miami (10/5): Amazing stay in Bucintoro Hotel in Venice! - From the reception upon on arrival on boat taxi, to check out 3 nights later, everything was Outstanding! Breakfast resembled our breakfasts on our Celebrity cruise. We left a tip every night for our room stewards and had to leave it with reception because they did not take it! Cleanliness and although centrally situated, away from the center of Venice’s square craziness. The bed was comfortable and so were the pillows! We were told that the beds in Europe were firmer than the US, but they were fine and extremely comfortable. Our room had a lagoon view, although we only went there to shower and sleep! Highly recommend it!
- Rui (9/5): - Friendly and helpful staff, very good location, amazing view.
- DIANED548 (10/5): Perfect Place to Stay in Venice - This is a beautiful waterfront hotel that is within walking distance to Venice attractions. The hotel is very clean and quaint with beautiful views overlooking the water and a friendly staff; it was exactly what we were looking for. A delicious breakfast is served every morning for hotel quests. Stefano recommend a lovely restaurant not far from the hotel and the food was wonderful. He also offered us a free excursion to one for the Murano glass factories and we had a great time. I would highly recommend this hotel.
- Q996ZWryanm (10/5): Great energetic helpful staff in a great location - Amazing Hotel with very friendly staff and great location. First off the hotel is in a great location just over a bridge from the Arsenal stop and about half a mile to Saint Mark square. Toni greeted us with great energy and provides great recommendations and tips. they even had a breakfast box for our very early morning trip to the airport. Would definitely recommend this hotel for its great staff, location, and theme
- Bruno (10/5): Excelente! Voltaria a Veneza por causa desse hotel! - Serviço excelente, funcionários dedicados e atenciosos, localização excepcional! Quarto aconchegante! Se puderem, escolham o quarto com vista! Top demais! Nada.
- Perry (8/5): - This hotel is situated really well…not far from St Marks square, but far enough to be quiet at night…really handy for the water buses too. Although the rooms are quite small, the bed was comfortable, and the room was very clean & tidy. Breakfast had a broad choice of nice quality food. Only constructive criticisms would be toilets in the restaurant are not great, no conditioner in the bathroom and a very manly smelling shampoo, as well as not much shower gel. Could do with a few more power points in the room too. Overall a very nice stay, and would strongly recommend it.
