The pool area was completely cordoned off, bar wasn’t open at all whilst works were going on and NO details had been sent to say this and or notification at reception given… They sent enough what’s app messages, check in was fine (she was very good) but the other staff were not really fussed..

• James (6/5): Underwhelmed in the hotel, but a lovely location - We had a room overlooking the ocean which was absolutely lovely, and the staff were friendly that we'd encountered. We didn't use the bikes, but they had four which are available on a first come, first served basis. We had expected a higher standard in the room for the money as it was tired in places. The tub was nice, but inconvenient to step over and the frosted glass window opened out to the walkway outside which was odd! The parking was extortionate and we didn't expect the cost to be this high. It was £68 for valet per night, but the car was parked in a normal looking car park that we could have easily parked in. I would recommend parking in any of the car parks nearby which are $20 dollars for 24 hours (£15 a day). If we'd known the cost and it was earlier in the day, as we arrived late, we would have parked the car elsewhere. A comfy seat to enjoy the view wouldn't go a miss, too, as there was only a dining type chair which seemed a shame considering there was such a lovely view.

• Chay (8/5): Great place and location. - The 2 bedroom suite was the perfect setup for our little family. Including views to the ocean and Malibu hills from the bedrooms. Short car trip from LAX to check in and reset after the flight from Oz. Great location and walking distance from plenty of stuff including the epic farmers market on Saturday morning which is literally on the door step. Excellent staff, made us feel welcome and looked-after right from the start. The styling, design and energy of the place is great, right down to the playlist. Highly recommend. Nothing of note. The suite we had maybe lacked a little ‘refinement’ you may expect of ~4 stars but don’t let this deter you, it was excellent and will stay again next time.

The location is excellent, the rooms were clean, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. What truly stood out was the staff — they were friendly, helpful, and genuinely solution-oriented. Every question we had was handled with care, and the receptionist gave us very helpful recommendations. Overall, the hotel exceeded my expectations, and I would definitely stay here again. The only downside was the lack of an open buffet breakfast, which could be a nice addition.

The pool are was pretty and the loungers, etc were perfect. Rooms were nice, beds were comfy & hotel is in a great location. We travelled during spring break. Although the pool are was lovely, they didn't have the bar open?! No food service either. You could get a cocktail in a can or water if you went to the coffee shop. The only bar that was open was on the rooftop. Drinks were very average, it needed a bit of updating and we didn't want to leave the pool to head all of the way up there each time we wanted to order a cocktail.

From the valet, bell hop to the front desk. The location is also really great.if you want to be basically on the beach, close to the pier and shopping, it’s wonderful. The hotel just felt very different from the pictures. It’s an older hotel, so some quirks and charm is to be expected, but it just felt really outdated and cold. The pool area deck was torn up with a couple of workers so my kids didn’t want to swim and the jacuzzi wasn’t super warm. The bed was comfortable, but the duvet didn’t seem to have a duvet cover and it had like a white sheet draped over it. I want to say all in we paid around $518 for the night, so not cheap. Again, it’s a 1930’s building, so if looking for old charm, it’s for you, but we felt a little disappointed.

The pool is a lovely little oasis, rooms are clean and comfortable, and the rooftop bar is absolutely worth it for sunset drinks. One of those spots where the setting does a lot of the heavy lifting, in the best possible way. The lunch and pool menu is the weak link. For a hotel with such a strong rooftop and pool scene, the food offering doesn’t quite match the vibe — it feels like an afterthought. A more considered poolside menu would really complete the experience and make it easier to justify a full day lounging without venturing out.

Facilities were more than we expected. We stayed in the king bed 1 bedroom apartment, which had heaps of room and fully equipped kitchen. The main bedroom was huge, the bathroom was a great size. Our 9 year old daughter slept on the fold out couch in the living room which was her own room pretty much. The room had a pretty big office room which we kept our luggage in giving us more space in the main living areas. The view of the beach and pier was amazing! The room was still super quiet even though we were next to Ocean Avenue. The hotel also has adults and kids bikes to hire complimentary to guests, we hired the bikes for a day going to Venice beach and back also stopping for lunch. We always ended the day in the pool and spa, the spa and pool are a large size but was always quiet so we had them to our selves. It was the perfect place to start our 4 week holiday, would definitely recommend and would love to return again. The only issue really for us, which isn’t an issue if you don’t plan to cook. I couldn’t get the extracted Fan above the stove working which created a lot of steam and water whilst cooking. Other than that there really wasn’t much we didn’t like about the hotel.

Very walkable location. The front desk staff is very accommodating and friendly. They also serve really good coffee in their café. The tubs are super deep and you have to climb into them whenever you need to take a shower fortunately, it wasn’t an issue for us however we were very surprised.
