Guest Reviews
- Peng Hai (10/5): - Strategic for food, spot for liesure and travelling around Bangkok n public transport.
- tung ba (8/5): - great location , walkable to close by attractions . Staffs are friendly but should be able to speak English to support or help customers when needed . Breakfast may need to improve .
- Thanh-phat (6/5): - Property should be renovated
- John (10/5): Gaining weight - A hotel so close to many places to eat good food
- Peng Hai (10/5): - Excellent. Like All.
- Vincent (10/5): - Hotel is near the night market and close to most attractions. We especially liked the location as the hop on hop off bus stops in front of the hotel.Staff was very nice and helpful.
- Vilasinee (10/5): - Close to everything.
- Peng Hai (10/5): - Simple spacious and cleam
- CRAIG (8/5): - I stayed at this hotel mainly because of the location. I enjoy walking and it is a walking distance to Flower Market, Grand Palace, River City, etc. Also, you can walk to the Ratchawong Pier and hop on the Chao Phraya Tourist Boat. From River City, you can take a crossing ferry to ICONSIAM. Also, River City is a meeting point for many local tours. For instance, I took the Railroad and Floating market local tour and it was a short walk (10 minutes) from this Hotel to River City in the morning to meet my tour guide. This hotel is also at the heart of the Chinatown night market. I will give 5 stars for the location. But do understand this is not a 5 stars hotel. It is dated and I would give a 2 starts for the property condition. However, the beds are clean and the staffs are friendly and their services are great.
- Debra (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Older hotel but kept up nicely.
- Peng Hai (10/5): - Good
- Hoe beng (10/5): - Very good
- Roger (8/5): - great location, a bit small but we weren't there a lot, very clean and helpful staff
- Boon Gek (10/5): - Comfortable, no-frill and reasonable priced hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location and helpful staff. Much better than expected. Clean room, quiet location despite being in the heart of Chinatown. Evening street food market lines the streets outside hotel.
- Pitt (6/5): Saved by the close proximity to good food and MRT - Very basic, for the price paying so good not short stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - 24 hours you can find good food surrounding the hotel. A plus point with the opening of Wat Mangkon MRT Station which is only 5 minutes walk from the hotel; a excellent link to other part of Bangkok. Shopping you have a wide range of products from clothing, household items, fruits
etc.
- Itti (6/5): - Good location but building condition need to be improved.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice budget hitel in Chinatown - Convenient location, comfortable room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, center of china town.
Comfy and clean bed.
Staff is available all time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice stay - too short! Very impressed with Bangkok!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Rooms are small and toilet tiles all stain, toilet door full of cobwebs. No hot water from the basin. Only shower.
- Heather (8/5): Definitely worth a stay - A smart, clean and comfortable hotel with the best shower facilities we'd had during our stay in Thailand. Be warned that you'll be asked for a 1000 baht deposit for your room key - this was the last hotel we stayed in before our flight home so this was money we didn't have! A peaceful nights sleep was the real bonus here and I would recommend you try this hotel.
- DD (8/5): - Central to our needs! Very clean , friendly staff and nice breakfast.
- Chan (10/5): - Abundant of food 24 hrs, market products & very cheap clothing etc
- CAMAD (10/5): GREAT - COMFORTABLE
- YONG (10/5): - Everything was good aircon super cold out from hotel is night market and food street
- Chan (8/5): Pleasant hotel surrounded with street shopping - Breakfast in hotel is convenient. Can find everything you need from food, clothing, market products around the hotel. The many bus services right in front of hotel & the Hua Lamphong MRT can bring us around Bangkok. We end our day with a late supper just around the hotel before we return to the hotel.
- PORNTHEP (8/5): - Good location. A lot of food selections
- Tanya (8/5): Short trip - This is a budget hotel. The staff are very helpful, friendly and welcoming. The rooms are very tired and the hotel would benefit from a refit. However that said the housekeeping staff do a very good job. The bed was comfortable and the room was a decent size but sparsely furnished. Breakfast is very basic but adequate. I would not wish to stay more than a couple of nights.
- Holly (8/5): Chinatown on a budget. - Staff was a little unfriendly but might have been mostly due to language barrier. I love the central location to river boat or tuktuk to most anywhere. Busy run down area but felt safe. Terrible view. Menu items and laundry over priced compared to other areas in Bangkok. Overall Great value for the cost.
- Chan (8/5): - A pleasant stay. All up to my expectation. Locality suits me. Public transport convenient.
- surya (8/5): nice hotel and in the center of chinatown - nice hotel and in the center of chinatown, the only one i wanna stay in bangkok..
easy access ti shopping center.. near MRT.. easy access to hotel
- Louisa (4/5): Amazing Thailand we see such ! Omg - Do you believe the housekeeper threw the garbage bag from the Dustin on TOP of our travel pouch with our amenties . The trash include used disposable underwear . What would you have done to compensate the guests ? A one night free stay in the next booking ?
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel in Chinatown - Friendly staff, great location for food, super comfy bed.
Connecting room has two bathrooms, two large double beds and one single bed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I needed a room, and it served it's purpose. Slept well, warm shower, felt secure. Good location if you want to be in Chinatown and had a little restaurant on the premise.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Close to many points of interest but very noisy - You must ask for a room not facing the main street if you would like to choose this hotel. The main street is very noisy during the night. I had to go to the front desk asking to change room at 2 am and the guy was not willing to change because of the trouble. he promised to change room for me on the next day when I asked for a refund.
Generally, the hotel is good because of the location. It's close to most of the places of interest. There are also a few good pubs around
- Chee Eng (6/5): Eating street at night - Taxi not so willing to take from the airport, extract money to pay, reason is heavy traffic once get in this area.
- Winnie (6/5): Good location in Chinatown - Fantastic location right in the center of Chinatown Bangkok.
All the great street hawker food right at the door step. The night is busy and full of life.
However, you need to bring your own toiletries as the hotel don't provide. Anyway 7-11 is few minute walk away. The room is clean. But it is old. Luckily aircon is working well, so ventilation is not a problem. Good value for money for the location.
- Tan (8/5): Forget about WIFI in rm. - WiFi in rm was terrible.
- Gerry (6/5): Good location - Good location. Close to everywhere especially sidewalk eating place at night.
- Joshua (8/5): Great place if you don't pay full price! - The rooms are too small and the property top cluttered for them to charge their rack rate, but with a nice Hotels.com discount, this is a good choice in Downtown Chinatown.
- CHAN (10/5): Perfect Choice - We have a amazing holiday in China Town. Hua Lum Phong MRT station which is walking distance from the hotel bring us to many other attractions in Bangkok.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Location - Hotel is close to lots of food especially at night! The staff are friendly!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent Location. - Excellent Location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent Location - Excellent Location. Other then Monday(No street market) there is lots of food in Chinatown. Do expect lots of tourist as well.
- Eng-Kiat (8/5): - The only problem we have was the aircon blower too nosie and swing action not working in the 3 rooms that we have stayed.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The refrigerator and air con in the hotel is very noisy
- c h (8/5): - The location is good and the staff willing to help to call for taxi given clear instruction to the driver note down car no. Help to explain how and why.
- Craig (8/5): Great location, cheap prices, clean facilities. - The title says it all. The staff were very friendly. I felt lucky to be staying there on such short notice for such a cheap price. I got all I paid for, and more. It's an excellent value, especially since it's in the heart of Chinatown.
- Verified traveler (4/5):
- alot of things need improve, service, toilette items etc.......
- Andrea Christabelle (8/5): Clean and comfortable stay - Very professional staff tidy hotel rather expensive breakfast and facilities. Good location although my single room was very well laid out with towels and clean. To with enough channels including world news, the view from my window was not great. The bed was the most comfortable I have slep in for some years
- Victor Lim (8/5): - Pleasant stay, cosy look in the room and friendly staff. So happy that they helped to fix my internet connection speed promptly which shows that they are very customer oriented. It is so much value for money and mum says we should come back to stay in the same hotel in the future!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staffs at the counter are friendly and helpful.
The air condition was not well operated (not cold enough and noise) even after the technican has serviced it.
- paul (10/5): China town - Great, right in the middel of china town
Illbe there on my next stay
- Kristin (6/5): Family room is spacious but standard room is small - We like our family room which is a connecting room at the end of the corridor. It is good for 2 adults and 2 young children. The other room is a standard room which is rather small and noisy due to the construction outside the hotel. The breakfast is very simple. The bellboy's service is very good. Bring your own toiletries for the toothbrush and paste are chargeable.
- charles (6/5): Falang leave your money at the door and get out! - Food service food was nasty and cold. Wanted to get breakfast and was told no 9am Tried dinner and the whole order was wrong. Asked them to remake and i was accused of stealing food. WHAT! Manager yelled at me and literally ran away. Front desk girls were great and helpfull Laundry service cost four times anyplace else. Room was very small, walls very thin. Dirty run down halls. Good location for center of town. However I found the ppl in China Town to be rude, yelled at all the time by them. Dirty food. I ate all over Thailand with no issue Got bad food poising my first night in China Town Only place I found safe to eat was 7-11 and I'm a chef of 30 years I know good and BAD food
- Chang (8/5): Will come back again - My family's 1st trip to Bangkok, a wonderful stay in Chinatown Hotel. We love the staff here, especialy my elderly mom, though doesnt speak much English but the staff are still able to catch every requests she made & all are fulfilled. Xie xie ni.
- Diana (10/5): Bangkok Chinatown vacation - Bangkok too busy but sightseeing on tours were interesting
- rl (8/5): great hotel in the middle of china town - staff was good, check in quick, the food at the hotel very good
- Charinne (10/5): perfect - very good service.
- Suntorn (10/5): Nice hotel in Chinatown - Hotel was renovated recently. Nice and clean room and bathroom. Freindly and helpful staff.
- Debarata (6/5): Great location .. but small rooms. - Rooms are small...location is spot on. there is no buffet spread unlike other b&b. its a fixed menu. hotels staffs are very polite. overall a good place to stay in Bangkok in this budget.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This is hardly a two stars hotel. It needs a major face lift. A little vacuum cleaning could do a lot of good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Room is clean but facility sucks - Smelly carpet. Water tape for the bath tub is not working. Only 1 electrical point in the room & it's connected to TV.
- Aik Ping (6/5): chinatown hotel - Great location, plenty to eat around the area , basic accommodation for the price , rooms are dated
- Verified traveler (2/5): Room looks real bad. - Room is dirty and uncomfortable. Photos shown on the site are totally different.
Eventually I didn't stay here, no refund was given though but that is ok, I couldn't stay even for another minute in the room.
Avoid this hotel.
- wakiki (6/5): Chinatown Thailand - It suits my short stay for a day. May go back for the next time.
- Henry (8/5): Here I’m back again for staying - Here I’m back again for staying at the same hotel Pleasant stays, again, on-and-off for 6 nights for this trip!
Why wouldn’t I??? Love seeing and interacting with the staff here, from Nina, Sureeporn, and many others, I could always count on seeing Big Smiles! The only thing that I hope to see the improvement is the Wi-Fi in guests’ rooms, which has the tendency of dropping off very frequently and that makes any Wi-Fi calling a huge challenge besides bothersome when listening to the news back home through the net, and surfing.
I missed seeing a few familiar facers from the past trip; yet, the new staffs seem to fill in just FINE! Thank you to Nina for going the extra mile in making sure my stays were pleasant, Sureeporn for her always big-and-pleasant smile, the wonderful gentleman who has always a big help to me and greets me in Chinese; last but not least, the restaurant waitperson (female, I didn’t get her name, sadly!) for helping in stuffing all the gifts in my carry-on for bringing home. :D
Take care, all! Feel like that I should go ahead and make reservation for next year!
- tomcam (8/5): The Location Makes Up For Anything - I was overall very pleased with this hotel experience primarily because of the absolutely ideal location in Chinatown and the friendliness of the staff. I was not pleased with the breakfast every morning. Although the dining room opened at 06:30, the food was never all out until around 7:00. There was a very small selection of food items everyday and was mostly repetition. The coffee was always so dreadful I switched to tea after the third day.
Although the staff in the dining room seemed to be trying, they just weren't up to the standards of the staff in the rest of the hotel. One waiter habitually groomed his Mohawk cut hair by running his hands through it as he moved about in the dining room. He generally arrived on time but not in uniform. He would gradually get into the proper gear as he went about his duties. He was an extremely nice guy and tried his best to serve my needs but I wasn't comfortable with him handling my food.
The lobby has been renovated and has a wonderful, far eastern feel. Even the Chinese music going in the lobby is perfectly suited to the environment. As you step out of the lobby onto Yaowaran Road you feel immediately that you are in the heart of the action of Chinatown.
The room was not what you would get for a comparable rate in Sukhumvit/Silom/Sathorn but I expected that because of the super location of this hotel. Overall I was very happy with the 18 days I spent here.
- Steve (6/5): Chinatown Hotel - The hotel met our requirements for the Chinese experience since my wife is Chinese. It is located in the heart of Chinatown/Bangkok and had access to all shopping of Chinese items. The room was very small, clean and the beds were typical for Chinese people (Very Firm) and not to my liking. The staff were very friendly and helpful with all our inquires and assisted us when needed help. If you use the elevator, only large enough for two people with luggage.
- Mae See W. (6/5): family trip - Not convenient to city shopping area , Everytime need to take taxi to go . Cost about 100B to 200B .
- Bee (6/5): In China Town easy to get around - Room need hot water and need to have more choice of Breakfast
- Verified traveler (6/5): pleasant but the taxi, tuk tuk price high. - will recommend to friend overall the room is clean but a bit small. Convenient to move around such like city but need to take tuk-tuk. MRT a bit far.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Average - old hotel new renovation, good location, busy street.
- Ting (8/5): that street have a lot of food - friendliness of the staff, very nice because help us translate when we face trouble in communication problem
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Chinatown night market just infront!!! Good service!
- Carmen (8/5): A nice hotel that it's close to all foods & market - This is my 3rd time staying here again.
This time I came with my sista and her family, and a friend. This is a nice hotel that it's close to all foods & markets. This hotel is located in the middle of yaowarat. its just so convenient to get foods & its near to sam peng the wholesale market. good place especially for those who cant speak thai language.. here alots of the thai speak chinese & english. I'll definitely come again.
- wong321 (10/5): Good location - every night can go to eat Chinese food and desert good taste, at noon can go to shoping at sampeng , phahurat market
- Gina Ang (8/5): Location is good - Overall is a pleasant stay, especially your staffs are very courteous, helpful and friendly. One suggestion, if only the hotel is fully air-conditioned it will be 100 per cent best
- Devapriya Fernando (10/5): Great Location - The hotel reception being the most impressive, as the girls who were there very helpful not only on the first day but whenever approached them for some assistance during the stay. Anyone who seeks a pleasing welcome, this hotel is the best, as well as situated in good location.
- Henry W (10/5): Great Leadership in Nina, the Hotel Manager - While in college, I worked for a few hotels in Seattle, Washington such as the Four Seasons Olympic, Hilton, Sheraton; thus, my experience enable me to recognize 'Great Service' in this industry. On and off for the past few years, I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for about 2 months, and I just couldn't thank the entire staff enough for the service I received throughout my stay in all aspects!
Just an example here; If you're a fan of the NFL, you'd know the feeling I had when scrambling to search for a place to watch my Seahawks playing in the Super Bowl by which the pregame started at 3am; so, local sports bars, restaurants and even other adjacent hotels all were very inconvenient not mentioning those safety issues that due to the political demonstrations; Nina, she was kind enough to go way out of her way to have the channel that showed both games Conference Championship and SB in My Very Own Room without any additional charge!! Thank you, Nina! I'll definitely see you again on my next charitable trip and more!! :)
Yours, truly,
Henry
- Verified traveler (10/5): Second Visit During our stay in Thailand - When we arrived back at the Chinatown Hotel for the second visit to the hotel, the staff recognised us straight away, welcoming us back. We where then off to the Cambodian Embassy to organise our visa, they called the embassy to make sure the address and opening hours where correct and organised a taxi to take us. We can not fault the staff and their attitude to the guests staying at their hotel
- latvia (6/5): location is good - I feel the room need to do some reno, aircon oso not cold
- Reggie (8/5): Still Going Back Here - We stayed at this hotel a number of times when a travelled Thailand over 6 years ago. We like staying here as staff are friendly, rooms are clean. Breakfast is basic but aceptable. We can walk to where we eat at night. TV is not good, only Thai channels and BBC world news, would be nice to have more channels so you could chill after a hard day sight seeing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Perfect for seafood lovers. - i have stayed there twice. and would definitely go back, as it is convenient for me to have my seafood treats!
- D (6/5): - Service: Basic, Sufficient, Door staff were good; Cleanliness: Clean;
Would stay here again if in China town
- Paul (8/5): Good hotel, perfect Chinatown location. - Situated right in the middle of the Chinatown hustle and bustle, so lots to see and do nearby, also not far from other major attractions such as grand palace (50-100 baht in tuk-tuk).
Hotel is quite nice, clean enough, basic but has everything that is required. For the price of this hotel I can't say much bad about it, also breakfast here is good and varied (breakfast pad thai was delicious!)
- Rgloria (6/5): Good if you need to catch a train - Room was OK, bathroom could be better ; in the middle of Chinatown, quick 5min ride to the train station
- Abri (10/5): - Great value for money, centrally located close to historic quarter and river.
- Paul (6/5): A nice simple place away from the backpackers. - If you have stayed in Khao San Road before, and want a genuinely new experience, stay in Chinatown. The markets are much better and more interesting. The Chinatown hotel is know by all taxi and tuk-tuk drivers. It is 10 minutes from MBK and Khaosan Road. Very few westerners, so the experience is different in a good way.
Rooms are clean, if in need of a little touch up. Staff are friendly. Having a bath was nice in the heat.
Food and drink in the restaurant were great. I ate 2 lunches (thai food) and it was delicious. Cold beer on tap was nice in the evening too.
- lakshman (8/5): lakshman guruge - Its was a good business trip for me.
The girls in reception was very helpful. Its worth for the money I paid , the room charge was very reasonable. I love bangkok and specially girls.
- Hedley (8/5): Reasonable budget choice in Chinatown - Nothing fancy, just a comfortable, clean hotel in a good location, if you want to be in Chinatown. My room was basic, but a good size, good lighting, comfortable large bed, a/c and a window that can open, lots of outlets, a small desk. When I was there, the lobby was undergoing renovation, but I was not disturbed by any noticeable noise. The elevator wasn't working one day, due to the renovations I assume, so I took the stairs to the sixth floor. Apparently there was a second elevator somewhere, but I didn't see it, but I usually take the stairs anyway so I wasn't bothered.
- Joanna (8/5): - Facilities: Bathtub was awesome; Value: Reasonable; Service: Courteous; Cleanliness: Pleasant;
for its location it is pretty good
- sasiren (8/5): Chinatown hotel - I stayed sola and found it to be a nice hotel in a nice location. The staff was friendly and kept my luggage after checkout. The room was clean, adequate in size. The tv did not have many English stations but that was OK.
- chloe (8/5): Friendly Staff - Friendly and helpful staff
- Capt. Rex (8/5): Good enough as budget friendly! - I think the hotel needs to upgrade the water pressure of the shower head and transfer the location of the shower head a bit higher as it is too low.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great Location - Situated in the heart of China Town. Congested but plenty of dining restaurants. Room is ok.
- RAJ (10/5): Love Chinatown Hotel! - I would sincerely like to thank the entire Chinatown hotel staff for being so co-operative in all respects.Special thanks to the manager Ms.Nina.I was in bangkok for about 4 days following which i had to travel to Phuket. All the arrangements including the booking of flight tickets was done by the hotel...the location is amazing as well..
- JQ (6/5): street food is abundant - It is a simple hotel...a bit spartan but it is understandable. It is old but close to the action at Chinatown...street food is abundant
