• Vacation44339626271 (8/5): Good location and good value - We stayed here for a couple of night prior to catching a cruise. It is on the 4th floor but there is a small lift, we used the lift going up and the stairs going down. The room was clean and functional. We were in the economy room which was fine although there was no security box in this room which may be important to some. The bed was comfortable and there is air con. Its not a big room but this was not an issue as we were out for most of the time. Staff were very helpful in suggesting things to see, routes etc. Breakfast is basic and healthy. Whilst there we did not hear any noise from outside nor inside. Location is only 200m from the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major (which is worth seeing). If you are mobile and just have a couple of cases then its a 10 to 15 min walk from Roma Termini station. I cannot comment on transport links to the various sights as we walked everywhere. There are some OK (for Rome) restaurants nearby.

• Siham (10/5): Voortreffelijk! - De duidelijke communicatie met de hostess en de instructies en de vriendelijkheid. Ook was alles heel schoon! We kregen zelfs voor 1x een gratis ontbijt aangeboden. De medewerkers super vriendelijk, behulpzaam en meedenkend. Er was genoeg ruimte in de kamer. De airco werkte heel goed! De locatie is ook top! Alles is op loopafstand, de apotheek en supermarkten, eetplekken andere winkels zijn in de straat zelf en eromheen. Het is super levendig ook. Niets.

Lift u zgradi, smještaj je na 3. katu. bilo bi dobro imati vješalicu za ručnike za lice i ruke, nažalost drugi stanari ne rukuju dobro liftom pa smo 2-3 puta morali pješice na 3. kat što može biti problem za ljude s problemima s kretanjem, kao ja:)

The hotel is located on the 3rd floor but the lift didn’t work mostly. My sister had to walk up 3 flights of stairs just to ask for help on arrival,no fun at age 72! Same thing when we needed to leave, the staff had to visit all 6 floors in the building to find the lift and send it down. Tried to have a shower and the handle came of in my hand. Workman came but couldn’t fix till next day. So no shower. Complained to hotel in writing and they offered a discount off a future stay!! I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole and suggest you do the same. Lynne

• Brid (6/5): Ask for a room off the Main Street - Good location and staff are great. My review is negative aside from the fantastic service offered by the staff. We were in a room at the front of the building. Although we had a lovely balcony and nice view, Unfortunately it was impossible to get a nights sleep due to the traffic noise. I mean the room was literally vibrating. I did ask for a swap and, to be fair, they were fully booked so couldn’t accommodate this. But I feel like they should let you know if you’re going to be kept awake by traffic noise. Additionally, although the property is very clean, everything is a little outdated. Not good value for money given the lack of sleep.

• sharonlS2169RU (10/5): Rome was difficult but our hotel hosts were amazing. - This place deserves all their great reviews. Enough cannot be said about how wonderful their hosts are. My husband became ill on our vacation and without Karen's help I shudder to think of what our story would be like. To the owners of this hotel, your hosts at the front desk are indispensable. I hope they are paid well.

• Yuliya (10/5): Amazing place - stayed in Rome for a couple of nights and choosing Merulana Inn Hotel was the best decision. The location is perfect, the facilities and rooms are great, and the breakfast was excellent. What made the stay even more special was the reception administrator, Karen. She was incredibly kind and helpful, always ready to assist with anything we needed. I would definitely recommend this wonderful place!

It's a relatively easy walk to the Colosseum and a relatively easy walk to most restaurants in the area. The property is not fancy but location wise it is worth the stay. The complementary breakfast in the morning as a bonus and will save you a few dollars on your vacation.

• KHOI (10/5): - Merulana Inn is a small "guest house" in the Esquilino neighborhood of Rome. Located just a few feet (meters) down the road from St Mary Major, it is a convenient stay if all you're looking for is a place to rest in between your explorations of the Eternal City. My family and I stayed here during the Jubilee (2025), and found it quiet and cozy. There are plenty of dining options around the neighborhood, and there is daily mass at St. Alphonsus (around the corner) and St Mary Major (down the street). Be aware that being a guest house--there are only 6 rooms from what I can tell--staff is only onsite during specific times. If you need to get a hold of the staff, who are very friendly and helpful, they can be reached via Whatsapp.

Because it is a B&B and not a hotel, the sign can be easily missed. Also, odd and even number addresses are on the same side of the street. Do not confuse with the similarly named Merulana Guesthouse.

The was complimentary breakfast every morning and the location was very close to major attractions (only a 15min walk to the colosseum). I felt very safe here as a solo traveller. The hotel is in a fantastic location — walking distance to major sites like the Colosseum and Santa Maria Maggiore, and surrounded by charming restaurants and cafes. The room was spotless, quiet, and comfortably furnished with modern touches like USB charging ports and strong Wi-Fi. The bed was cozy, and the air conditioning worked perfectly during the hot summer days. What really stood out was the exceptional service. The staff were welcoming, helpful, and always available with great local tips. They made me feel truly cared for. Breakfast was simple but fresh and satisfying, with good coffee and a nice variety of pastries and fruit. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was peaceful and well-maintained, giving it a boutique charm. I highly recommend Hotel Merulana for anyone visiting Rome. It’s a perfect blend of comfort, location, and outstanding hospitality. I’ll definitely return on my next trip to the city.

You couldn’t find a nicer and more helpful person! The room is quite dated/worn out and basic for the price you pay. We spent most of the days out so it did not bother us that much. Aside from that, the facilities undeniably show their age, and the breakfast is fairly average. However, since location and front desk service are crucial factors for travelers, if those are your top priorities, this hotel is definitely a recommended choice.

The breakfast was very good with a lot of cold cuts,cheeses , fruits and pastries. The staff is very professional, helpful and kind. They went above and beyond to make us feel home.

The only thing to be aware of when booking a hotel in Italy in March/April is that it may be warm and AC is not turned on until later in the season. We ended up buying a fan to help and it worked out perfectly. Highly recommend this lovely place!

• Stacy (10/5): - Not a traditional hotel but extremely pleasant! Just a door along a busy street near the Termini train station, but once upstairs and buzzed in, the staff spoke far better English than my rudimentary Italian deserved. The rooms and bathrooms were large and clean. We were able to have two rooms (#s 5 and 6) which closed off from the main hallway. And most importantly, they let us check in at 10am! We were only going to drop off bags, but instead got to have a 2 hour nap before heading out to sightsee. Always a huge plus when you get off a plane after an overnight flight. The rooms have shutters to keep out light & noise. Breakfast was delicious- they had scrambled eggs, warm croissants, cereals, breads, meats & cheeses, good coffee and the best orange juice I’ve ever had. A wonderful start to our trip.

• wrobbins (10/5): Great location, helpful staff - It is a small guesthouse on the third floor of a building on a busy street. I took the tiny elevator with my luggage but used the stairs otherwise. The neighbourhood felt very safe even at night. It is a short walk to the train station and the Basilica of St. Mary Major with one of the holy doors is a few doors down. My room overlooked the busy street but I slept well - it was pretty quiet. The staff was very lovely and helpful. Laura was in touch before I arrived to insure easy entry. I wanted to try artichokes and Laura found me a restaurant and made me a reservation. The breakfasts were simple but just what I needed to get the day started - Elena (?sp) made cappuccinos and took good care of me. I would stay there again. I enjoyed the personal touch of a smaller establishment.

• Andres Adolfo (10/5): - The host is very kind and helpful. She gave us many suggestions for our trip. The room has a decent size and is very functional. Great area for walking or using public transport!
• Jacinta (10/5): Convenient location. Clean and comfortable. - This hotel is fantastic and the staff are wonderful, especially Laura. It’s in a perfect position. Close to the termini and walkable most sites. The room was extremely clean and roomy. The bed was comfortable. There was a kettle, coffee and tea available I. The room. As a bonus there was free breakfast on offer that was lovely.
• Dejan (9/5): Superb - Good location, close to main attractions and main transport hub. Clean, quiet room (room #6), breakfast to get you going every day…
