• Gaybrielle (9/5): Convenient to Royal North Shore Hospital - The Mercure at St Leonard’s is located about a 5-10 minute walk to Royal North Shore Hospital and about a 15 min walk from St Leonard’s station. If you have poor mobility or fitness it might be a challenge to walk the steady incline from St Leonard’s station to the Mercure.

• Kimbilee (9/5): Great location for last minute emergency. - Had an emergency with my 19 year old son, this was the closest place to RNSH and I got there late and stayed 2 nights. Was nice knowing that if he needed me, I could be there walking in 10 minutes. Gave me a lot of relief knowing he wasn't alone. Lights in room are very bright, and the property is dated, but that didn't matter to me given what I was going through. Staff were lovely, accomodating and helpful.

Due to the accommodation of Asian tourists and their ways of living, the place was nosy. In the middle of the night, 12 o'clock they scream, bang the doors and the same happens 5.30 in the morning.

Room was freezing and heater/air conditioner didn't heat up, even though it was set for heat at 25deg C.It was blowing out cool air. Had to request an extra blanket. Curtains didn't pull forward - had to move the beginning along, then move them forward and keep doing that until they were closed (had to get help from Reception with that. Not enough Lighting in the room - a bit too dark. No instructions on using the phone, calling reception, etc.

In contrast to a colleague’s room on the floor above, the traffic noise was clearly audible and, on several occasions, significant enough to disturb my sleep. I would recommend investigating the window seals or insulation in this specific room.

• Bushgypsy3 (7/5): Large room, close to st. Leonards transport. - The room was large and had a good sized outside area. The fridge was the smallest I have ever seen. There could have been some plants in the courtyard too...it looked bleak and un inviting.

• Adam (8/5): Cool comfortable and welcoming with great transport options nearby. - Staff were great. The SURE restaurant on the ground floor is terrific!! The room was quiet and away from the road, but being on the Pacific Hwy gave us several easy transport options. Noise from other guests!! Maybe somewhere in your written notices (bookings confirmation and in-house notices) you could politely remind people that they are sharing the hotel with OTHER people and that they might think about confining early morning and late evening conversations to inside the rooms instead of in the corridors/hallways!!! Also slamming doors is a bit unsociable.

However it was located on the side of the building close to the Pacific Highway so I could hear a lot of traffic noise. I ordered room service for my dinner and the food was cooked and delivered to me within 15 minutes which I was very happy about. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I would recommend this accommodation for people that need to visit a patient or attend appointments at The Royal North Shore hospital as it is very close by. This hotel is close to public transport which is very helpful if you do not have a car like myself.

• Louise (7/5): - The staff are nice (I think they are mostly still the staff from Hotel Urban days.) The location is convenient. I enjoy the cafe/restaurant. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. I'm disappointed to see that what was formerly Hotel Urban has been taken over by the Mercure chain. Hotel Urban was very good value for money and had a lovely, friendly feel about it. I travel monthly to visit my parents so affordability is a big factor. I went to re-book and noticed that prices have suddenly increased now it is a Mercure hotel. Unfortunately I won't be returning. I don't think the rooms reflect the new pricing. Previously, I was more than happy to overlook the "tired" decor and not-so-great air conditioner because the price was so reasonable. However, I think I can now find better value elsewhere.
