- 943coletter (10/5): Family visit to Rome - From the moment we walked through the door we received a warm welcome.
The receptionist was very helpful. Our large suitcases were taken to our rooms. My husband and I had a room next to our daughters, which was perfect.
Room and bathroom was spotless .
Good location, 15/20 walk into the main attractions.
We did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment, but had drinks at the bar. Again good service and pleasant staff.
Check out day was very smooth, received excellent service. We left our suitcases behind the desk as we had a late afternoon flight. When we arrived back , reception called a taxi for us to go to the airport , which was €55 , cheaper than when we arrived. It was €65 on arrival.
Loved Rome, lots of walking. But managed nicely.
Lovely staff at hotel Oxford, can’t fault a thing. Thank you
- 856deannac (6/5): A nice little stay - Staff very welcoming…. But when it came to night time someone was running up and down the corridor quite annoying!! Went on for hours food was lovely we ate a few times for an evening meal the breakfast was fabulous!! Disappointing no tea and coffee facilities.
- lukesK7860HS (10/5): Ideal Base for Exploring Rome – Clean, Comfy & Welcoming - Great hotel ,comfortable and very clean rooms and snug bar area to get a drink. Friendly staff who were so helpful. Ideal location for visiting Rome.

- karolinakP9085XJ (2/5): Terrible stay! - The hotel was very dirty, it wasn't cleanded in a while.
Our room was terrible, pictures are not true to what we got. Small room with no space, bathroom was so small you almost couldn't fit in there.
Breakfast terrible, every day the same with no taste.
Location was very good, you had a small 30 minutes walk to fountain de trevi, one hour walk to Vaticans.
Service was ok but very dissapointed that they could not speak english and was very hard to make them understand you.
I will not come back and recomend everyone to book some other hotel.
- jo_notallwhowander (10/5): Can't beat it for value and location - This hotel represents excellent value for money. I always review accommodation in the context of its price point, and honestly, for what you pay at the Oxford Hotel, it’s very hard to fault.
The location is central, the rooms are clean, quiet, and perfectly serviceable, and the staff are genuinely friendly. A particular shout-out to the front desk staff member (apologies for not catching his name) — the Stanley Tucci lookalike — who was especially warm, welcoming, and took the time to give us a great rundown on arrival.
Location-wise, you really can’t beat it. Close to Villa Borghese, and an easy walk to the Spanish Steps, Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain.
- Desmond (9/5): Good hotel - The staff was friendly especially Rosa, the bar staff was friendly Maria and had good selection of drinks. The room temperature was good and the room was clean. N/a

Pulizia degli ambienti, staff molto gentile, prezzi nella norma. Letto comodissimo Il supplemento di 10 euro per la colazione e lo scalino in bagno . Si rischia di inciampare

- top-table-review (4/5): Staff Great. Room Poor. Breakfast Bad - Positives: The staff are lovely and we enjoyed the location.
Negatives: The room was nothing like those online. Breakfast was truly terrible. I’m not sure if the room was meant to have a/c, the controls were there but no cooling.
Staff are the only thing that made this place tolerable.
Needs investment by the owners. It will pay dividends.
- DayTrip29690981871 (4/5): Not a 4 star hotel - Not a 4 Star Hotel, no better than a cheap budget hotel. Rooms not as shown on website. Scruffy with dirty marks on walls. Floors under bed filthy and TV covered in dust. Very thin walls can hear people in next room going to toilet. Dirty warm carpets in corridors. Loose stair carpets. Shower door doesn’t close properly therefore water leaks all over floor
In need of renovation
- Carmelo (3/5): Overpriced - Location good Was on 3rd floor. Lift only went to 2nd floor. Paid for large room. Lot of the extra room was the passage from the door
- Linda (7/5): -
- christinenU3183XF (10/5): Great stay - Lovely hotel. Room was basic but clean, all you need for sleeping in, was out all day. Only thing missing was tea/coffee making facilities but when I asked at reception I was given a kettle and cups 🙂. Very nice, friendly helpful staff. Good location for exploring
- Aimee (10/5): - Great breakfast. Nice and helpful staff. Great location. Restaurante on site. Very clean. Highly recommend.
- Robert (8/5): - Good Location. Nice Staff. Good Breakfast. Charming hotel Bar. The room could use some attention, otherwise good hotel & I would return..... but definitely compare pricing through the various hotel apps.

- Lidia (8/5): - La amabilidad de sus empleados y su buena disposición Muchos escalones
Sin acondicionador para el cabello
- Davina2010 (4/5): Disappointed. The website pictures isn’t what you get - This hotel is definitely not a 4 star hotel. 3 star at a push. It’s very tired and in need of some TLC . Small showers , broken plug sockets , scuffs and what seems like childlike drawings on the wall. However the staff are exceptional. Super warm and friendly and it’s super clean. Was I disappointed with what I got ….yes. Did the staff make me make me feel valued and appreciated…also yes. If you book this hotel thinking it’s a 4* you’ll be extremely disappointed. If you book knowing it’s 3* in need of a little TLC with excellent staff then I’m sure your stay will be excellent.

- natalliar (10/5): Highly recommend this hotel for location, cleanliness and care we all received! - I would highly recommend this hotel, in 7 min walk to bus stops and within 15-20 min walk to other places like Trevino fountain, Spanish Steps, Termini station - place where metro/train/shuttle bus is from. Hotel itself small but clean and got everything you need. Staff in hotel and restaurant is very caring and welcoming! They will really help with everything you ask for, very polite supportive and professional. I personally really enjoyed my stay . Hotel has restaurant on ground floor, and us, having full board - we had amazing food on day 2 and 4. On day 3 (Saturday) we been sent to pasta restaurant next door and were well impressed!!! it was also nice to have a little change!!! Both restaurants cater for kids as asked and my kids just loved their spaghetti and pizza. Thank you to staff in reception and both restaurant!!! we really enjoyed our trip to Rome, you all made it very SPECIAL, my Birthday treat was very special!!!
Highly recommend this hotel for location, cleanliness and care we all received!
- Mirjam (5/5): Peaceful location, but no comfy bed - Room had airco, neighbourhoud is very quiet The matrass was very soft and had a hollow/dip, so not very comfortable to sleep in.
- Gianmarco (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (8/5): I can’t anticipate this hotel will reach previous standards that we have enjoyed, we won’t return - The hotel is in a perfect location
We have stayed here before, the staff are charming and helpful. It’s a very quiet hotel, very little noise from other guests
Our bedroom was large and had great airconditioning, plenty of wardrobe space and a nice little en-suite shower room. It’s a very quirky hotel with the smallest ever lift and lots of staircases and corridors, easy to lose your way This hotel has been under refurbishment since the last time we stayed 2yrs ago
We couldn’t access our internal courtyard balcony because it was shrouded in scaffolding and plastic protective sheeting. Work started quite early and the noise was very intrusive.
The breakfast buffet had also lost a lot of quality in the last 2 years. The cereals and fresh fruit were limited in choice, the hot breakfast was poorly cooked and presented, the continental style breakfast was extremely poor in regards to charcuterie and cheeses. The pastries were sweet dense and obviously purchased in bulk
Coffee too was horrible machine made
- juliemT4702SA (8/5): A nice mini break with two of my adult children - We had a lovely stay, the staff were friendly and helpful.
Perfect location for sightseeing which was the plan for our trip.
Rooms were fine, my son's single room was very nice.
Not loads of choice for breakfast, but we did not go away hungry.
Would come again.
- Donna (8/5): - It was a perfect place for the one night we stayed. Walking distance (about 15 mins) to Trevi Fountain and bus stop a block away. Employees were extremely friendly and answered all our questions as well as gave us suggestions. We took a cab to termini stations which was convenient.
- kevingP5073FE (8/5): Would stay again. - The hotel public areas have an interesting design that adds to the personality. The room was modern looking but did have some signs of age none of which affected the stay, and gave us everything we needed. At first we thought it was a bit away from the tourist areas. But once we'd worked out the cheap bus service we easily got to any where we were going.
I would stay here again.
- Matias (8/5): Very good -
- 324AlexC (8/5): A pleasant stay. - I made the mistake of booking this hotel before reading the reviews. After reading the reviews I was contemplating cancelling the booking, but decided against it and took the attitude of “what will be, will be”. So as we pulled up to the hotel I wasn’t expecting too much. But I’m happy to say that any fears I had were unfounded.
The hotel itself is clean and tidy and in a great location for sight seeing. Below are the walk times to some of the landmarks.
Spanish steps (15mins)
Trevi fountain (25 mins)
Pantheon(30 mins)
Colosseum (45 mins)
Vatican (get a taxi)
Parts of the hotel are a bit dated. The corridors, stair wells and some of the decor could do with an update. The lift is tiny, I mean TINY. It is a 2 person lift. If you are on the larger side then it’s a 1 person lift.
When it came to the room, we had a triple standard. The room itself was fine. It was clean and functional and had all that we needed. This included air con, fridge and a safe. It also does have a tv, but there are no international channels available. So unless you know Italian, it’s pretty useless. The bathroom was very clean and of a decent size and served its purpose well. There is also free Wi-Fi which you can obtain via a QR code at reception.
Breakfast was also pretty good. It is in a buffet style with a wide range available.
Would I return? Yes probably. I would like to maybe try other hotels, but I wouldn’t be at all disappointed if we returned to the Oxford.
- Vasileios (10/5): Exceptional -
- gwarnershoe54 (10/5): Excellent hotel - The hotel is well located. Rooms are small but adequate. The staff is amazing if you ask for something they are pleasant and it’s done right away. Would highly recommend this hotel. They only have a small elevator to second floor but the have staff to deal with your luggage
- karenrees2 (8/5): Great Hotel - Lovely hotel with lovely staff. We had a twin room which was perfect. Beds were comfortable and the room and bedding was spotlessly clean. Room was cleaned daily and fresh towels provided daily.
Breakfast was great. Lots of choice of pastries too and coffee and juice machine was great.
Would definitely stay here again without a doubt
- billy010 (10/5): Great Location - Stayed via BA holidays,
Great location, close to all the sights.
Hotel, is not overly large but has a restaurant with a decent size menu and bar.
And in general hotel had a nice feel.
Staff all pleasant and efficient.
Good housekeeping.
We would definitely stay again.
Recommended.
- nathan (10/5): - what an incredible find. Loved this hotel. everyone was so friendly. Would love to stay here again
- Catherine (10/5): Staff and location are perfect as always -
- Fearless193477 (10/5): A lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff - A lovely hotel, very spacious room with an ensuite with a fantastic 'rain fall' shower, included a hairdryer and bidet. Really friendly and helpful staff. Good choice of food at breakfast time, cooked and continental options. We arrived at about 10.30 am, our room wasn't quite ready, we were given complimentary tea, coffee and snacks while we waited. Hotel staff gave us suggestions as to where to go to see great views, eg nearby Hotel Eden 5 star with a roof terrace, it was expensive but superb. The staff at the restaurant and bar were friendly and the place had a good 'vibe'. Perfect location to see the main sights, close to stops for 'hop on, hop off' buses. Staff ordered taxis for us on a couple of occasions and they arrived within minutes, even when there was a national transport strike. There isn't a kettle in the room, we took a travel kettle and a couple of mugs, no problem. Also there is a PAMS supermarket a couple of doors away which was really handy for low cost snacks, drinks etc.
- Margaret (5/5): Passable - Pleasant staff Walls in room were dirty, hallway light not working.
- Marlyn (10/5): Enjoyable and fun - The food and the staff The stairway is too tight but manageable
- KazlaJ (8/5): Trip to Rome - I was surprised our room looked a bit worn and basic. However it was cleaned daily with clean bedding and towels if needed.
Lovely atmosphere staff are friendly, happy and helpful. Breakfast was good lots of choice. Could have done with tea making facilties in our room.
- Audrey (9/5): Superb - This hotel was a great price, in a great location, and has fantastic staff!! I had a problem with my shower on the first night but I told them and they fixed it right away. When I was leaving I tried to call a taxi but there weren’t any around so a wonderful staff member named Stefano just drove me to the train station himself! They were so kind, I definitely recommend staying here
- Lorraine (8/5): Overall happy with stay …staff very friendly - Breakfast was good . Location about 30 mins to centre ok to walk in during the day but not at night needed taxi Tea facilities in the room …room with a view …
- Olybrius (10/5): Optimal choice - The hotel locates in walking distance as from Termini station as Piazza Spagna in calm district. The room had all basic amentities - AC, minibar, safe, TV. The bathroom had shower cabin and bide. The staff was helpful and provided all available information. I did not try the breakfast. No kettler
- pippafrancis72 (2/5): AVOID !!! NOT a 4 Star Hotel !! - AVOID! NOT 4 star hotel.
Dated, scruffy and limited facilities. Our room was nothing like the pictures, it was old, dated with wall to wall mirrors and no bedside tables, just a double bed squashed up against a wall. One plug socket and that was hanging out of the wall. When you arrive at 10.30pm to check in and before you've even been taken to your room and the check in manager says 'If you are not happy with your room there is nothing we can do until the morning' the alarm bells had a ready started to ring. The staff know its not a 4 hotel.
After an awkward climb up some narrow stairs and navigating a mouldy corridor with thread bare carpets I was a praying the room itself would be ok but no. We stayed just the one night and checked out the next day into an amazing 4 star apartment in the heart of Rome where we happily spent the remaining 4 nights of our trip, thanks to Booking.com!
Please do not book, nothing like the pictures 2.5/3 star at the very most!
- Smith (8/5): Very good - Location good breakfast very good
- paulabE906QD (2/5): NOT 4* dated and mouldy - This is NOT a 4* hotel I would give it a 2* at a push and only because the staff are really nice. The rooms are dated and small, the bathroom was small and covered in black mould, which my husband has breathing issues, the hotel lift is tiny and doors don't close fully which scared us everytime we had to use it. At breakfast the hot food was not hot but cold. We only stayed 1 night because it was late but paid for another hotel the very next day. Would definitely not recommend.
- Bassam (6/5): Pleasant -
- 796isabelk (8/5): the stay we had was lovely although it it definately not a 5 star hotel, overall lovely accommodation and great location - this hotel has been such a lovely accommodation to stay at in rome, the location was amazing to visit all the tourist attractions with nearby cafes and restraunts, this pictures are not fully upto date for example the rooms are not as detailed as pictures shown, me and my other half booked a luxury room which we were happy with although it didnt seem too luxury to us. one thing we would say was delightful was that cleaners would do their best job and really ensure your stay was at the top standard, staff working in reception were lovely and accommodating
One thing we were never warned about was the city/room tax you have to pay after your stay with this hotel, we stayed 7 nights which came to 105 euros which was a bit of a shock but luckily the staff told us upon our arrival which ensured we had plenty of money left over for checking out of the hotel. There is a lovley little restraunt downstairs which we didnt have time to try but did sit down with a few alcoholic drinks, i must say they were quite expensive but nevertheless it was all for the experience so money wasnt the issue for us in the moment.
- ianjB2958QS (8/5): Great hotel in an amazing city . - Had a really lovely stay , everything is close by and easy to get to by bus . Marvellous restaurants close at hand . Hotel was very clean and well kept , super fluffy towels changed every day and bed linen was of really high quality and changed regularly. Really good shower. The bed was very comfortable and slept very well . Good breakfast. Staff were lovely and very friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again next time we are in this amazing and beautiful city .
- rosie0900 (8/5): A great stay in Rome - Couldn’t fault the hotel nor the staff. I feel like some of the negative reviews about the Oxford are very nit picky - the decor and furniture adds to the authentic experience of the stay. A used hotel is of course going to have some scuff marks etc.
Every member of staff we met were so friendly and couldn’t do more to help us. We were also able to check in early which was great. The view from our bedroom window was also an unexpected delight!
Only gripe is that some of the photo’s from the hotel website are not the most accurate.
Prime location- just far enough away from the major hustle and bustle of the city centre but within walking distance to most popular spots.
Of course there will be noise from the road as Rome is a busy city but this was well shut out using the windows and terraced shutters. Enough charging points for us and beds were comfy- not ‘stone hard’ as others have expressed.
- 925jasminef (4/5): Lots of little let downs… - I booked this hotel through booking.com and we chose it for their family room as the idea was for one person to use the bed and the other use the sofa bed. When we arrived we were told we only booked a double room however I showed them the booking confirmation and payment of a family room. The room was tiny and not like any of the pictures on their site. In the evening I spoke to a different person from which we checked in with showing booking confirmation of the family room and she refused to listen saying it was not their fault and it was a booking.com issue and nothing could be done about it. I suggested they should let booking.com know of this mistake so it doesn’t happen again however as said before she didn’t listen. And I will contact booking.com to let them know of the mixup.
Unfortunately we also had an awful sleep due to the heating in the hotel despite having our window open and trying to use the aircon however we were told the next day the aircon didn’t go on until spring which is understandable but it was needed to help cool the room down from the standard heating levels it was set to.
(Also a lot further from public transport and the Spanish steps/trevi fountain than what we originally thought however we could’ve looked more into that.)
Other than that it was an okay place to use just to put your head down between busy days and I should’ve assumed with the price it was too good to be true. Unfortunately this experience did impact the overall holiday.
- ippanpeople (2/5): Don’t do it. This is a scam - People posting low rating reviews here, are NOT mean. They are telling you the truth.
This is certainly not a four- star hotel. They are lucky if they could get two. Everything was minimum. One sheet on a mattress. A bathroom with weird smell…
- Tatiana (7/5): Good -
- Ibrahim (8/5): Very good -
- Lallie10 (10/5): Definitely recommend this hotel - When we arrived the staff were very friendly and accommodating, our original room wasn’t what we were expecting when booking - it was a lot smaller, we explained this to the staff the following morning and they couldn’t do enough to accommodate us! They moved us to a new room with no hesitation and it was stunning, couldn’t fault the company in any way! Good breakfast to start off your day, hotel is close enough to all the areas we wanted to visit (bar the Vatican but even that was only a 40 minute bus journey) everywhere else is either a 5 minute bus journey or a 10-20 minute walk. Thank you the staff at hotel Oxford for making our stay so lovely! Our flights are really early in the morning - too early for a bus or train, but they were more than happy to help us pre book a taxi for us to take us to the airport. Beautiful country, welcoming staff and can’t thank them enough for making our city break
- Edel (9/5): Great location to all attractions, supermarket next door and beautiful cafes nearby - Location was good and the room size was excellent
- Josephine (7/5): A convenient and central location for the weekend wedding we were attending in Rome. - Friendly staff, characterful building. My only problem was the coffee. The machine did not produce it very hot and on one day it wasn’t working.
As there weren’t any facilities in the room to make hot drinks, apart from leaving the hotel, I missed my “ first thing in the morning “ coffee. Everything else was fine.
- Kylie (7/5): Good value, good location, comfortable hotel. - Convenient location. Hotel is clean and comfortable. English speaking. And hotel transfers were very reliable.
- ryanmH8319RF (8/5): Next stay in Rome look no further - Great place and service was excellent. Great location. Very clean and quiet rooms. All the workers are fantastic.
Front desk is very helpful and the breakfast was great. Would definitely stay here again.
Right next to a market also so whatever you need is close by.
- Jeffry (10/5): I’ve been to this hotel numerous times over the past 10 years. Gabrielle and staff are great. - Good location. Easy walk to restaurants and sites. Great staff. Rooms are small. But still good for a place to sleep and stay.
- dpatt844 (6/5): Average stay, closer to 3*. Avoid room 110 as it's beside the stairs and very loud. Also very warm with an A/C unit that doesn't - An average stay. We had a room right as you came off the stairs (110) which maybe was bad luck. But you could hear EVERY step on the stairs. Incredibly loud. The rooms are NOT sound proof at all....
The bed was very uncomfortable, even for someone like me who liked a hard bed. The rooms have A/C units in them and a temperature gauge, but turning this to cold doesn't make it cooler. I asked about this as our room was very warm and was told there is no A/C and the fan is the only option. Our room was permanently warm which was not enjoyable.
The shower was good, staff are friendly and location is nice.
But would have thought more from a 4* hotel, especially given the other hotels along that street with the same rating.
- Jaideep (4/5): Expensive and overrated -
