Just 3 days before we were due to be in Florence, we received an email saying our reservation was canceled. We called the hotel, sent an email, and called Marriott headquarters, and no one could give us answers or offered to help us. Mind you, we are Bonvoy members and had our wedding block at a Marriott. We are so disappointed in the way things have been handled and will no longer be staying with Marriott.

• Sam (10/5): Honeymoon at the Sonetto! - We stayed at the Sonetto for the first 3 days of our honeymoon and we were very happy to start it there. The rooms were a very good size with a proper double bed, some places in Europe have 2 x single beds pushed together, a small thing to some but we were very impressed with this. Alongside the location being perfect for exploring Florence the views from the front of the hotel were brilliant with a view of the Ponte Vecchio and the Piazza Michelangelo. The staff were also incredibly helpful and welcoming, a staff member called Paul was great at giving us recommendations for food and these did not disappoint, starting our honeymoon off in the best possible way! Would definitely stay again!!! Nothing.

Breakfast was also good / better then expected. Two negatives would be (a) do not like over-head shower and fact that this must come on before you can turn on the hand shower, and (b) our room, though very spacious, did not have a chair or sofa only a separate single bed which had never been requested.

Die Zimmer sind extrem hellhörig. Man hat alles vom Gang im Zimmer gehört, auch wenn im Nebenzimmer der Wasserhahn aufgedreht wurde oder im Stock darüber jemand auf die Toilette gegangen ist, hat man das Wasser sehr laut gehört, das war vor allem in der Nacht ziemlich nervig.

The atmosphere feels more like an apartment building with a manager at the front rather than a typical hotel, which almost lacks a personal feel—but that seems to be their style, and whether it is appealing will depend on personal preference. However, the air conditioning in the room was too weak to properly cool it down at night, making it uncomfortable for sleeping. The check-in process is done through an app, which was frustrating. I ended up checking in four times, each appearing successful, only to receive more emails saying I hadn’t checked in, with my booking disappearing each time. It was nearly impossible to reach anyone by phone for help.

• ElGordoGringo (2/5): Marriott Integrates With A Trainwreck - I booked this hotel at the last minute for a stay at the start of June via Marriott. I believe Sonder had just integrated with Marriott following a tie-up at the beginning of the year and their rooms were just starting to be loaded into the Marriott system in the summer. If you're expecting consistency of a big global brand, this hotel isn't for you. On check-in, there were bugs in the ceiling of the room I was in. The room itself was poorly furnished. In addition to the bed and TV, there was one hard chair to sit in and one 1800s looking wardrobe in the room. The bathroom sink was small and there was a leak in the shower door so that the floor flooded every time you turned the water on. If you want to experience checking into your nona's guest room, this was it. The most unpleasant part of the stay was the billing. There was an extra 77 Euro charge on my card on file on the day I checked in. When I asked the associate at the front desk on check-in, they said this was done in error and would be taken care of by check-out. On check-out, I asked again and the new associate said it would be resolved and refunded in a few days. When I didn't receive the refund a few days later, I contacted the hotel via their official WhatsApp number and was told by the rep that their manager needed to figure out why the charge was made. The manager then "initiated a refund". Two days later, I noticed that instead of a refund, I was charged another 77 Euros. The manager again said this would be corrected and that I would need to wait two weeks. Fast forward two weeks, I received two 77 Euro refunds on my card - and a new 154 Euro charge. I tried contacting the hotel again and now I am getting the cold shoulder. This whole experience put a bad taste in my mouth. I've never had problems working through erroneous billings with other Marriott hotels in the past so this was eye opening. I looked up the Sonder brand and it looks like they specialize in running hostel like accommodations. At the same time, this hotel is positioned on the opposite end of the spectrum to that. It's at a price point where it's comparable to a major brand hotel in the city center in Florence. If you're looking for big hotel group consistency, you won't find it here.

Very little room to hang my cloth ans the space was actually not at all to the standard i was expected for my cloth. It s pretty much free service and no specific room service as in other hotel. I did not bother with breakfast as many other places for that in Florence. The worst is the customer service. You email them and get ignored for days ans weeks - Mariott and Sonder: i thought they had higher standart. An Ibis is quicker yo address your needs…

Nice outside seating for a morning coffee. The air con was ok not the best but it was cooler than the 38 degrees heat out side in the Florance streets

From the apartment both sides of the river are extremely accessible which is a handy trait for first timers with a dynamic itenerary.

• Megan (8/5): Chill home base in Florence riverfront - Fabulous location! Riverfront, out of the tourist crush but a quick 10 minute walk to Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. Older building with a new, clean renovation and contemporary design. The bed was firm and comfortable, the room was cool and dark owing to being slightly underground in the back terrace, and overall was great for sleeping. Little touches elevated it from a basic stay to a very pleasant one: we loved the "essentials" cabinet with extra bottles of water for the room, free Nespresso pods and supplies. The room was generously sized for two people, and daily housekeeping was much appreciated. The towel warmer in the bathroom was a welcome touch, even in a warm climate. Davines products in the bathroom. Easy checkout in the app and great customer service end to end. For a low maintenance holiday where the focus is outside the hotel and you don't need amenities like spa and fitness or restaurant, this was a perfect stay. The WiFi was not very reliable in the rear terrace where our room was located. The shower had a slight defect and it was nearly impossible not to douse the bathroom with water during each shower. Wasn't a big problem, we just felt sorry for Housekeeping. :(

• Guest (9/5): Ottimo soggiorno nel centro di Firenze - Ottima struttura sul Lungarno, a 8-10 minuti massimo da tutte le attrazioni principali. Struttura curata e stanza dotata di tutti i comfort. Ottima colazione dolce e intercontinentale, curata nei dettagli. Complimenti a tutto lo staff, siete stati impeccabili e gentilissimi.
• Guest (10/5): Perfect accommodation at short notice and I was looked after very well by the hotel staff. - I came to the hotel in urgent need of a room for my last three nights in Florence after having a horrible experience at previous accommodation. As a solo traveller I was very anxious when I arrived and was immediately put at ease by Paul at reception. They sat me down with water and showed me by room before asking me to book. They even gave me free breakfast the following morning. The room was just what I needed for my last few nights. The staff were so kind. I would definitely stay here again. The walk down the river every morning was lovely. Due to the urgent need for a room and the last minute nature of my booking the only room left was a single bed room. If I came back I would definitely book a bigger room, for comfort. However, the room had everything I needed.

• Elizabeth (9/5): - Well maintained. Good clean facilities. Nice that the hotel was low key, but also liked having 24h concierge available for possible concerns. Walkable to all major tourist attractions while not being directly in them. I would return back to The Sonetto again in the future.

• Chris (10/5): Memorable Visit! - Our room was spacious and beautifully appointed. Cleanliness was paramount and the staff went out if their way to assist in anything they was needed.
• Adrianacasas2000 (10/5): Wonderful stay in Florence - The first thing that stood out to me about this hotel was the exceptional hospitality and the kindness of the staff—always smiling and eager to help. The hotel itself is small and cozy, which I absolutely loved, and our room was surprisingly large and spacious. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Florence, and we have no doubt that if we return to this wonderful city, we’ll stay here again!
