• Steven (10/5): - Great little place in the heart of the old city. Access to the room took a few short stair runs. Bed was very firm, harder than we are used to. Absolutely fantastic staff, very helpful and supportive.

The hotel feels very out of date, with worn carpets, dark and dingy interiors, and a general lack of attention to detail. There’s an attempt at a shabby chic aesthetic, but it leans far more shabby than chic — tired furnishings and mismatched décor only added to the sense of neglect. The bathroom was full of cracks and questionable filler, which didn’t inspire confidence. Breakfast was limited and oddly managed by staff who seemed more focused on routine than hospitality. Coffee was offered inconsistently, with some guests served while others were overlooked — ourselves included. Practicalities were frustrating: there were hardly any plug sockets, making it difficult to charge phones or use hair straighteners. Noise was another issue — we were woken just before 8am by drilling and hammering from workmen, and the thin walls meant we could hear every movement from the rooms next door, especially in the bathroom. Overall, the experience lacked comfort and consideration. It’s not somewhere I’d return to without significant improvements.

The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the area around the hotel is also safe at night. Food options and bars are never a worry - so much to choose rrom. I would stay at this hotel again!

The staff was very friendly and attentive. There was air conditioning and an elevator. Both worked well. The rooms were a little dirty on the walls, but overall, I liked staying here and would stay again!

Staff very nice. There's a lack of storage space in the bedrooms and the breakfast was a bit grim - unless you like a lot of sugary foods.

We got a small room with a balcony as per my wife's wishes. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Location was very good. 5-6 minutes from the train station and a litt of the "must see" things were in walking distance. We enjoyed the stay very much.

• Th0rG (8/5): A Delightful Florentine Stay with an Unbeatable Location - As we continued our travels, our search for a hotel in Florence led us to San Giorgio and Olympic, aiming for a central, authentic experience. Our desire for a family room that comfortably accommodated our group of four was met, and we were very pleased with our choice. The hotel boasts an unbeatable location that truly enhanced our Florentine experience. It's surrounded by countless walking sites, shops, and eateries, mirroring the convenience we appreciated in Rome. The magnificent Santa Maria Novella Cathedral is just steps away, and the main train station is a mere 7-minute walk, making arrivals and departures incredibly easy. Major landmarks like the Duomo Cathedral and the Accademia Gallery are also within a comfortable 10-15 minute stroll. We couldn't have asked for a better spot to explore the city. Our family quad room was notably spacious and very comfortable. The air conditioning worked perfectly, a blessing during our summer visit, and the bathroom was super clean, which is always a top priority for us. We also appreciated the fast and constant free WiFi internet, which made planning our days and staying connected very easy. The breakfast buffet was a pleasant start to our days. While the cold cut selection was limited to just a couple of options, they did offer boiled eggs, which I appreciated. A refreshing juice made of A.C.E. (likely a mix of orange, carrot, and lemon/citrus, known for vitamins A, C, and E) was a unique and welcome addition. We found the breakfast offerings to be satisfying for our family. This hotel falls within the mid-range price bracket, and we found it to be well within our budget, especially considering it included breakfast for four. I'm giving San Giorgio and Olympic a 4-star rating instead of a perfect 5 due to a small, but rather perplexing, detail. The lobby featured a complimentary jug of detox water infused with herbs. While we could drink as many small cups as we wished, my son was not permitted to fill his small water bottle from it. This felt quite unusual, as we're accustomed to hotels generously allowing guests to refill personal bottles with such complimentary offerings. It felt a bit odd to have such a resource available but with this peculiar limitation, almost as if we were being watched when taking a cup or two. Despite this minor point, our stay at San Giorgio and Olympic was highly enjoyable. Its superb location, comfortable and clean accommodations, excellent WiFi, and good value make it a fantastic choice for families exploring Florence.

• Global526593 (2/5): We got attacked by BED BUGS - Two words. BED BUGS. The place was grimy to begin with, staff not friendly, outdated decor with old looking orange bedspread. Should have trusted our instincts. We woke up around 5 am and turned on the lights to find something and there was a bed bug crawling on my wife’s sheet, and then one on the wall above it. Then another one on the curtain, everywhere. And full of blood. We complained to the manager and she got very angry and defensive “it it not hotel responsibility “. Travelers being bed bugs in. What ? It is your responsibility. Contacted Expedia and they said the hotel will not offer compensation and take no responsibility. How disgusting

Killed it and then another one on the wall, then on curtain, another on the wall, etc. manager angry and defensive, not our responsibility, she said. Other travelers fault. What? Not worth it. Stay away. Waiting to hear Sure enough, next day bites start showing up. Really disappointing experience

• ARAM (2/5): - 우리는 pitti uomo 참석하기 위해 출장을 왔고, 딸도 동행해서 3인이 묶을 수 있는 숙소로 별 선택지가 없었기에 이 곳에 왔습니다. 그래도 리뷰가 굉장히 좋은 편이어서 비지니스에 괜찮을 거라고 생각했습니다. 출장에 필요한 짐으로 인해 우리는 무거운 캐리어가 5개 정도 되었습니다. 입구부터 계단이 있었지만 프론트에 있는 사람은 미안해하는 기색조차 없이 우리를 빤히 보고 있었죠. 배정 받은 룸 또한 엘레베이터에 내려서 계단 9개를 올라가야 들어갈 수 있었지만, 끙끙대며 올려야 했습니다. 전기포트가 없는 것은 그렇다치고, 다리미도 없었습니다. 욕실이나 그 어디에도 일회용 슬리퍼도 없습니다. 대체로 프론트에 있는 남자 직원들은 스케줄 정리에 여념이 없어 막상 호텔에 방문한 고객에게는 신경을 쓰지 못합니다. 도와달라고 요청해도 아주 수동적인 대답만 돌아오기 때문에 오죽하면 우리 일행은 이 호텔 프론트는 차라리 자동응답로봇이 훨씬 나을 것 같다고 이야기 했었죠. 별 하나의 이유는 그래도 아침식사를 준비해주시는 미란다 외 친절한 조식 서비스 스텝들입니다. 호텔에 들어섰을 때 커튼 고리조차 제대로 달려있지 않았던 이 사진 한 장이 이 호텔에 대한 모든 걸 설명해주겠죠. 최악의 대우를 받고 싶다면, 컵라면에 부을 물조차 프런트에서 받아올라가야 하는 이 곳을 선택하시면 된다고 말하고 싶네요. 리뷰가 괜찮아서 그래도 어느 정도 안심하고 저처럼 방문했다가 낭패보실 분들 없기를 바랍니다.

The professionalism and kindness of the staff made all the difference—they were attentive and efficient. The location is absolutely perfect: just steps from Santa Maria Novella station and within easy walking distance to all of Florence’s iconic landmarks, charming streets, and excellent dining. One of the unexpected highlights was the bath tub in my room—a rare luxury in many European hotels. After long days exploring the city, it was such a joy to unwind and relax in comfort. Everything was clean, welcoming, and well-maintained, making this hotel a wonderful home base in Florence. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to both leisure and business travelers.
• Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing - Front of house are surly. The breakfast is poor, cheese had mould and the cappuccino undrinkable. The lady serving breakfast was delightful. The hotel is so tired it needs gutting and renovating. Our room smelt but to the eye was clean and the saving grace was the good, clean bed linen. On top of that it was incredibly expensive.

The plumbing is a bit old and I needed instructions on how to flush the toilet. A little upgrade on this is appreciated.. Staff is very friendly and I like the classic touch of the keys that have to be handed in at the desk whenever you leave and the carpet on each floor.
• iammrdarren79 (8/5): Beautiful little hotel in Florence - This was a lovely little rustic hotel right in the heart of the action in Florence - 5 minutes walk away from restaurants and wine bars - 10-15 minutes from all major attractions in the city. Room was perfect, we had a balcony room that really made it! Breakfast was all you could ask for and the day staff were pleasant and welcoming. The night porter staff let the place down a little as everything seemed to be an inconvenient request, such as extra toilet paper, ice for the room for our water. Other than that I highly recommend and would start again.

I was able to scheming in early and store my luggage at no additional charge. Room furniture was old and worn but everything else was up to date. Would recommend.

The staff when I checked in was extremely rude, like an uncomfortable amount of rude and bother d by you. When I checked in they were very rude. I asked what the wifi was because the guy never told me and he says loudly and very sassy “it’s right infront of your face”. Like I’m supposed to know it was on the wall beside me in a small picture frame. I met with a friend here and we came to the hotel to drop off my stuff, and he was yelling at me and then her that she couldn’t stay here…I was dropping off my stuff, she was Italian and told him she was a friend and not staying, and he kept yelling. He was a P.O.S. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to someone I hated, stay somewhere else, everywhere I’ve stayed in Italy the staff has been incredibly friendly, this place makes you feel like a problem just for existing. Terrible place.

Came back and chilled in their lounge until we needed to take the tram at 1:30 am. Sadly the airport was closed and reopened at 4 am. Oh well that’s travel, lol. Good value and would stay again, but we are budget travellers. Not posh but did the job well.

A localização é excelente.
• José (8/5): - L'hôtel est bien placé, en plein centre-ville. Les alentours sont très calmes, il y a plein de restaurants, bars, boutiques et commerces à proximité. Le personnel est sympathique et serviable. Le petit déjeuner proposé est bon et de qualité. Quant à la propreté, il n'y a pas grand chose à dire : les chambres sont faites tous les jours (je ne sais pas ce qui s'est passé l'avant dernier jour, mais lorsque je suis rentré de ma visite de la ville, vers 19h00, la chambre n'avait pas était faite).Sinon, d'une façon général l'hôtel est bien. Je suis satisfait de mon séjour.

• Franck (8/5): Hôtel simple et propre - Petit hôtel simple, propre, idéalement situé entre la gare et le centre ville. Petit déjeuner correct. Chambre très calme. Seul bémol, le chauffage un peu faible en cette fraîche semaine de Noël.
• Guilherme (10/5): Lua de Mel em Florença - Ficamos hospedados por quatro dias e tivemos uma excelente experiência. O hotel é muito bem localizado, próximo à estação central, o que foi extremamente prático para quem chega à cidade de trem, evitando a necessidade de andar longas distâncias com malas. O atendimento foi ótimo, o quarto era amplo, limpo e bem aquecido, proporcionando bastante conforto. O café da manhã, embora simples, foi suficiente para começar bem o dia. Além disso, a localização é excelente, com fácil acesso aos principais pontos turísticos da cidade e a poucos passos do Mercado Central. Recomendamos muito para quem está passeando ou de passagem por Florença, especialmente para viajantes que chegam de trem!

• 876lisay (4/5): My 4 days/3 nights stay in Hotel S. Giorgio & Olimpic in Florence, Italy - Very dated hotel ..bad experience checking in initially as the room allocated to us had a weird smell and lighting was dim... requested for a room change and managed to get the last room available.. at least better than the first room allocated. As for the staff, I dont really have high regards for them as I find them a bit SNOBBISH. They don't allow coffee/tea in the rooms.. no kettle to boil water.. I was down with a very bad cough whilst I was there and drinking hot water helps in soothing the throat. Breakfast was included but I didnt really liked the breakfast served as only rolls/bread/croissants were served..Remember to ask for cappucino /latte from the coffee machine which is kept inside the kitchen because they will serve ordinary coffee to you if you just say you want coffee. I dare say the only good part of this hotel is its location..finally we can have a variety of Asian/Chinese restaurants to choose from and not have English/Italian/continental breakfast/lunch/dinner daily..Its very near to the largest leather market and Centrale Market in Florence and please do not hesitate to bargain as you will be able to get it at half the price or a bit higher..most of the sellers are of Indian origin possibly from Bangladesh etc.

• UrsulaR547 (6/5): Very clean with a great location and walking distance to city center and the train station. - This hotel’s location is incredibly close to the train station and the center of all the city attractions. We walked everywhere within minutes. The hotel may not be modern but I found it to be extremely clean. My husband and I stayed two nights and paid a city tax of €12 each and they only accepted cash. The reservations I made included breakfast but I was turned away from breakfast on our last day. I did not understand why and just grabbed something on my way to the train station. If you’re on a budget this place will work. If you’re looking for fancy and first class service you should keep looking. I posted a couple pics of the view from our room.
• Denise (6/5): - Only for the physically fit! 75 steps up a winding staircase to enter, no elevator. Charming rooms, great location, Staff were great in helping us orient to the city.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Great location, near train station and tram stop from airport. All attractions in walking distance. Decor a bit tired. Bathroom was very clean. Breakfast quite basic and service at breakfast not great. Reception helpful.
• oktrip (8/5): A find. - Very convenient, straight off the tram from the airport, 1.70E one way. Clean and welcoming, lovely staff. Not a modern decor hotel. I had a single room, ask for your room away from the road I did find it a little noisy. Tourist sites are all walkable.

• paulbN7130FM (4/5): Avoid if you can. - The best thing about this hotel is its proximity to the main railway station – literally, just 5 mins walk and most of that is fighting your way through the masses and crossing the roads – and how close you are to the centre of the city, with the Duomo 10 mins stroll away. That is the only best thing. It is soooo old-fashioned, but not in a cute, charming twee way. When you check in you get a sash-weight of a key fob, and you hand it back to reception every time you go out, so at least you are not lugging it around everywhere with you. And the room. Not wanting to brag but it was the worst I’ve been in for quite some time, and we do a lot of hotels. We opened the door of room 116 and were met with almost pitch darkness. There is next to no natural light, the window looks out onto the bottom floor of a tiny courtyard, smaller than the room itself, the sky a speck of light 50 feet or so up. I suppose if you really tried you could make use of it but you would need to be desperate - full of detritus, half dead plants, pigeon feathers and ‘stuff’. In short, the room was dark and dingey, you needed a light on constantly. The furniture was old wooden style and sparse, which added to the gloominess. There was a tiny old tv, mounted so high on the wall over the door that when you sat on the bed you caould barely see it. No English channels of course, and even if you could reach it, no facility to plug in a stick of movies, but being such a titchy thing it wouldn’t be worth it anyway. The bathroom was adequate, but again, somewhat dated. Oh, the shower – consisted of a tiny bath to stand in and a shower curtain which insisted on wrapping itself around you at all times – a pet hate. But worst of all, we both got bitten to death. Don’t know by what precisely, it could’ve been mossies, but I only saw one, it could’ve been bed bugs, but the bed did at least seem clean enough; while my wife does tends to get bitten on holiday, I don’t, but here I soon looked as if I had a dose of chicken pox. I overheard an extended Australian family at breakfast talking about hearing the wizz of insects in the night and showing off their bite marks to each other, but we didn’t hear flying insects in our room. Breakfast was ‘continental/American’ and was just about adequate. The cooked fayre was the usual nonsense, industrially produced scrambled egg and cut-up frankfurters; but you would be better advised to find something at one of the numerous nearby cafes. If you can avoid staying here, I suggest you do. Fortunately we were only there for two nights and we couldn’t wait to leave. Shame; Florence is lovely, just rammed with millions of us tourists and at least one fairly crummy hotel. I have no idea what the photo on this page has to do with this establishment.
