- Sue (10/5): - My second stay here, I will stay here on each visit to Venice. Amazing location, very short walk to San Marco and not much further to the water taxi for the airport. Vito is an excellent member of staff but all are equally wonderful, friendly, helpful. Delicious treats and amazing toiletries in rooms on arrival, including toothbrush and shaving kit! Love this place!

Walking distance to most attractions, and the STAFF is absolutely AMAZING! The location was quiet at night, and beds and bedding was great. Thank you Vito, and team for making our Venice trip so memorable. One thing to note...no elevator, but staff moved our luggage for us.

There is no elevator and quite a lot of steps to get to our room. However, the staff were really friendly and helped us with our luggage up and down the stairs.

We could get to almost anything, including water taxis to go to the train station, within 5 mins, including just a one or two minute walk to the beautiful nearby square. Of all our hotel stays in Italy, this was our favorite staff… I forget the girls name but she was awesome and lovely, and the guy who helped lug our luggage up the tall stairs (no elevator) was super helpful and nice. The hotel and room had charm but lacked some comforts, including a proper lobby and elevator. Bathroom was updated but tiny and also lacking, and the room itself wasn’t at the most affordable price. So, for these reasons and a few others, I would never ever even consider giving this a 5 star rating; however, the staff, location, and cleanliness bump it up to a 4 star in terms of overall value.

- Rosalba (10/5): Wonderful Hotel 100% recommended - My stay at the Hotel San Gallo was wonderful. The location is perfect, only a seven-minute walk from the Rialto station. The room was beautiful and cozy, with a nice view of the city. The service was fantastic: everyone at the front desk was eager to help. Vito's culinary recommendations were especially helpful. He was also very patient and kind with me and my daughter and speaks Italian, Spanish, and English. I recommend this hotel 100% without a doubt. We would return to the same room without a second thought.

Mini bar in room sensible prices. Beautifully decorated rooms, I was in number 1 .. small but perfectly adequate with a very good sized bathroom. Charming view of church rooftop and square below. Quiet at night. So easy to find from San Marco (alley by Olivetti, over bridge and just along on the right). Vito an excellent concierge, other staff also friendly and happy. Stairs were no issue. This is a boutique experience, cosy, charming, homely, perfect. Will stay there again.

They will take their time when checking you in to tell you about their recommendations throughout the city. The property is ideally situated near St Marks, but is far enough away that it is mostly quiet and not overrun with people. We would return here!

- David (10/5): Fantastic location, super staff, nice room - The hotel is unassuming from the front door, and you have to clime two flights of stairs (in a straight line, but it would be 2 flights in height), but it has a nice lobby/lounge area, and the staff is super-duper! The hallway has a killer low ceiling that I clobbered twice, despite the warning signs. It's a step down at the same time the ceiling goes down, so you have to watch your step but look up. The room was nice, but had no view. We were in room 8. The front door is just about 20 steps from St Marcos Square, which is really incredible.

It was on but it did not cool the room very much which made it quite uncomfortable during the night.

- Jeremy (10/5): - I have nothing but GOOD to say at all about our stay here while we were vacationing in Italy. I’ll point out what I’d say are obvious to most stays in Italy, just because I think it’s good information for Americans like us. A lot of people on these apps leave negative feedback for these reasons, but just know that we’re in Italy and these factors are just about everywhere here. 1) there are steps to get to your room, sometimes a lot of them. 2) a lot of places don’t have elevators (this one does NOT). 3) the showers are small! I’m 6’4” and 240lbs… I fit, but it’s not like home, lol. Okay now that that’s over with, here’s the positive aspects of this place. 1. Location, location, location!!! Venice is confusing! This stay is just off the square so it is very easy to find. Take the 5.1 Traghetto from the train station and get off at St. Marks square. Walk to the west and then north at the end of the square. Maximum of 5-6 minutes walk. It’s also close to where a lot of the gondolas are. Lots of food and drink around every corner. 2. Super nice and helpful staff. Prepare to spend 15 minutes with the person checking you in. They’ll tell you how to use the Traghettos, where to eat, what sites to see and how to get there, etc etc. All with a map of the city. Then, they will walk you to your room (showing you where the roof top terrace is) and help you with your luggage. 3. AC worked great! Stay here, you won’t be disappointed!!!
