Guest Reviews
- Paul (8/5): Happy campers - Room was great, simple and basic but the location was good, staff were always friendly and there were no issues.
- Gina (6/5): - The front desk guys are so nice and awesome. The only reason why I didn’t give this a 1 star was because of them. The room was pretty dirty when we got there. We had to sleep on top of the bedsheets, and the bathroom shower curtain had mold all over.
We dont care about small rooms and arent super picky, but being clean is a priority for us and it just really wasnt. Location is great though.
- Terry (10/5): - Good location and comfortable.
- Alita (8/5): - The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was small and clean. The breakfast was good. There was construction next door so it was very quiet at night, but there was a bit of noise if you had your windows open in the day time.
- Skyler (10/5): - The room decor was pretty
- Verified traveler (4/5): Nice room, just issues with the bathroom - The receptionists were nice and very helpful. The room itself was also cozy, a little small, but still very quaint. And the bed was comfy too.
But the issue was the bathroom. The mirror had these stains on it and and the shower drain had this green stuff around it. That itself made me drop the rating of the hotel, but we only passed one night so it was ok.
- Mark (8/5): Great Latin Quarter location - Really well located in the Latin Quarter. An easy find by RER and on foot from Eurostar. Friendly staff. Basic Continental breakfast but sufficient. Clean rooms well kept. Surprisingly quiet at night. Great budget option. Would stay there again.
- Anthony (8/5): - This is a charming little hotel in the heart of the 5e. Be advised, though, that 'little' is the operative word. The lift is so small that if both of you have cases you'll have to go up one at a time!
Otherwise very pleasant - though the insistence on leaving your room key at the desk every time you go out does get a little tedious.
- Verified traveler (8/5): near the Sorbonne - excellent hotel, central to the monuments i was visiting and staff were exceedingly helpful and friendly. But the heating system was not optimal being a steam heat ststem the room never got hot
- Leann (8/5): - Wonderful experience!
- Kirsten (10/5): - Quaint. Great location. Would stay again.
- Vincenzo (4/5): - Bathroom & toilet to small 2 people in room at same time very hard. Furniture was old and delapidated
- Carmen (8/5): - I booked a room with city view, paid extra money for it.
When I arrived they gave me a room with not view.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Truly enjoyed our stay at this property. We are a family and the room was quite comfortable and located close to the train.
- Shelley Marie (6/5): Great location, puny bathroom. - The room size was ok, but the bathroom was ridiculously small. I realize this is Paris, but better planning when constructing rooms might have been a good idea.
- Sarah (8/5): - Clean and comfortable rooms, though the carpet in the stairwell is very worn and could use a good cleaning. I initially thought the reviews complaining about the showers were dramatic, picky travelers...until I experienced it. The hotel is still a great value for the price but the showers are an issue. They are so tiny you cannot even turn around without the curtain sticking to you and bumping the water handle, changing the temperature to super hot or cold on accident. I'm not a big person and it was impossible to avoid this. My husband is 6'5" and it was a complete joke for him. We still appreciated the overall value of the hotel, but hated the shower situation.
- Aaron (10/5): - Excellent location and very friendly staff
- Elise (8/5): - Great location and a good value. Staff very friendly and helpful.
- maria (10/5): - Location
- Verified traveler (6/5): Time for spruce-up - Some great features like decent shower, lovely location and staff, good cleanliness destroyed by small, tired and unappealing room. Time this hotel was given a make over.
- Gaby (8/5): - Affordable
- Carolyn (10/5): - A lovely old classic French hotel. Steeped in history. Friendly lovely generous staff. Small rooms. In the heart of the Latin quarter. I would live there if I could.
- Manuel (2/5): - Not what was showing on the website, they give us a smelly room with with a very tiny shower that I couldn’t fit and I’m not even 6 ft tall. I understand that is a very old building and everything is small but that shower was beyond ridiculous. I asked the clerk if is possible to change the room and they said no. Not recommended at all.
- sharon (6/5): - The room was exceptionally small, no air on but had a window to open for the night. Location was great in the Latin quarter, but there were other hotels I think I would have paid a little more for and felt more comfortable.
- Tommy (10/5): - Lovely stay with friendly staff.
- FRANKLIN (8/5): - great budget hotel
- Souha (8/5): Short stay in Paris - Very pleasant stay and helpful staff in the hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked very clean an excelente ubicación
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Rimbaud’s hotel from 1872. Very simple, but great location! The manager is a very personable guy 👌
- Graham (10/5): - Great location and good value.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good service n environment. Staffs are very friendly and pro, a great exp to locate in this hotel.
- EDUARDO (8/5): Great location close to bus to Eiffel Tower. - Great location, you can take the bus number 82 straight to the Eiffel Tower (a couple of blocks away at the Luxembourg Gardens bus stop, about 30min ride). It is a simple hotel but a great budget hotel, I really like the place and the 24 doorman is awesome. The only comment is on the shower, it is a bit small. I recommend it.
- BayazidMerabet (2/5): - The reservation was another day. Expedia didn't handle it well. I made s ckaim to cancel the reservation right away but Expedia refused to listen.
I will never ever use Expedia again.
I have no problem with hotel clunny since I never went there.
- Andrew (10/5): Great location and really friendly - Excellent location, really friendly and helpful owners / staff. Nice rooms, perfect for a family trip, bathroom was small but ok, great hotel overall
- Verified traveler (8/5): - TINY bathroom! Comfortable bed. Lock was tricky. Enjoyed option to open window. Busy street, but convenient location.
- Julian (4/5): Inadequate two stsr - The elevator was far too small the shower was too small. Insufficient lighting in the common areas
- Happy (10/5): - Nice little hotel. Very c.lean, good WiFi, nice staff, great location.
- Paul (10/5): Hotel Cluny Sorbonne - Very friendly and comfortable hotel near the Sorbonne.
- Sergio (10/5): - we love our stay! staff is friendly and always available, rooms are tiny, but very clean, LOCATION is amazing if you planning on exploring Paris, Is basically near to everything a tourist would like to visit from the city. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank you! and we are looking forward to come back again
- Dana (8/5): Heat Wave - I stayed at Hotel Cluny during the Paris heatwave - had only a small fan in my room, and it would have been helpful to have another fan or one that was larger.
Room was small but provided for all my needs, a lovely place to stay.
I would stay here again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a minuscule room and bath room and both myself and my daughter are slim.
- Alan (2/5): Great location but Grubby hotel in poor condition. - Staff at front desk very nice. Building works going on in hotel. Has to be done but should have advised guests in advance..started at 7am with drilling and never stopped until 6pm for the 3 days I was there. No air conditioning. Grubby property all round. Dingy small rooms. Eating area and all round in poor shape. Barely passes as a hotel. Not in good shape outside either. Much better hotels in the same area. Sorry to say but def Would not recommend !!!!
- Allison (10/5): - Rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. We loved the neighborhood, and would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a tiny hotel in a great location. There is a teeny tiny elevator for a bag and a person. Room was clean and a good size, bathroom is tiny.
We found it within walking distance of a ton of restaurants, the metro, and within a mile a lot of historic areas. The neighborhood around the hotel is cute.
There is no air conditioning but the price was perfect for us so we were ok!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The only thing that was good about this property was the location. Everything else was terrible. It needs to be completely upgraded.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly, convenient, comfortable , love the staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very simple hotel with no frills. Staff was friendly and helpful, great location a couple of blocks from the Cluny museum.
- Trez (10/5): - The location is excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are small but adequate. It's a budget hotel, not the Ritz. I would definitely go back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location and excellent service provided at check in
- Mohanad (8/5): - Wonderful location and good price
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great budget hotel - Very clean and located close to the metro station and walking distance to Notre Dame. Our room was spotless, housekeeper guy was amazing! It is a great budget hotels- no frills, no extras, it was great. Only 1 thing: the bed was a bit hard- nevertheless, very, very clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good experience. Rooms were clean and staff were friendly. I would stay here again. Unfortunately, the lift was out of service for most of the trip, however it was a good reason to get physically active:).
- Lisa (8/5): Friendly and welcoming staff. Needs updating. - Great location - close to metro and walking distance to Notre Dame. Friendly and welcoming staff. Breakfast was lovely at an additional cost. Had the family room for four people for three nights. The beds were amazingly comfortable. The rooms and decor needs updating and the Windows in our room were very wet and mouldy but the hotel is clean and warm. Unfortunately the bathrooms are very small with the shower curtain sticking to you and leaking water everywhere. Not much room sitting on the toilet when door shut either. No tea or coffee facilities in room which would have been nice, plus no TV as advertised but this was fine as was out all day and used the free wifi for radio instead on my tablet, this was sporadic at times though. Ideal hotel for a short stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent location for a fair price - The hotel's location in the Latin quarter was perfect for us. Nice neighborhood. Easy access to transportation around the city and to nearby suburbs/airport. Plenty of shops/restaurants nearby. The rooms are small (not a surprise), but very clean. The bathroom is newly renovated, but the tiniest bathroom I've ever been in--very difficult to move around in. It was fine for us for a four day stay. The people who work at the front desk are all very friendly and accommodating. We had a wonderful casement window which opened out to the street below. We could watch Parisian life walking by below our window. Don't expect luxury at this price in Paris, but if you're interested in the experience of the real Paris, I'd recommend this hotel. We really enjoyed our stay--I'd stay again.
- Ofer (10/5): - great location. very friendly and helpful staff.
The elevator is kinda small but even so, we could fit our two extra large suitcases without any issue.
- Alex (8/5): - Nice hotel, great location, staff is very pleasant, the room and the elevator are a little bit small but manageable. Good value for the money.
- Charlie (10/5): - Very good location. The room has a private shower and toilette and a nice tv set with plenty of channels. The staff is extremely helpful and happy to help
- Lisa-Jane (8/5): - Staff were brilliant. Room & bathroom were spotless.
Rooms are Very basic, small just enough room to walk around the bed. I kept turning off the shower tap accidently when I turned around. Breakfast was very basic but fresh. The location is THE best, right in the heart of everything
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Cramped quarters for two people. Not as expected from pictures. Bathroom extremely small with shower flooding the floor every time we showered. Hair dryer very out-dated and not very useful. Elevator was minuscule and two of us could barely fit with our luggage to go to our room. Continental breakfast and breakfast room very dull and uninspired. This hotel has made us think twice about ever booking again through Expedia.
- Frederick (10/5): Enjoyed it - Enjoyed our time here. Staff was helpful, room was nice with great view of the University. Would totally do it again
- HW (10/5): Nice location, friendly staffs - The staffs are nice, and help me as much as they can. I felt cozy when I stayed there. Thank you very much!
- Gary (10/5): Traditional, welcoming and great location - For a two star hotel I would warmly recommend this traditional hotel. Staff are all very friendly and helpful and make guests feel very welcome. The optional breakfast is quick and easy and perfect if you are looking to fuel up quickly and get out.
It is close to Metro and bus links and within short walking distance of the Pantheon and the Latin Quarter, which has lots of reasonably priced eating places. Fit walkers can easily stroll to the Seine and the attractions on and around its islands. Situated on a quiet street adjacent to the Sorbonne it is a perfect place from which to explore Paris.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely Stay - My boyfriend and i had a very good stay at the hotel cluny sorbonne. The staff was very friendly and it's located in a wonderful part of the latin quarter. Despite it being very cold in Paris when we visited, our room was nice and warm.
- jill (8/5): Left Bank Paris - Lively Sorbonne area. Cafés, bars. Plenty of talk amongst friends.
- Curtis (6/5): Hotel next to the Sorbonne - I feel a little bad about giving this hotel the poor rating, it is just a two-star hotel after all. The reception couldn't have been friendlier and more welcoming. My primary disappointment with the hotel is the room. I'm used to staying in rooms where the bathroom is more of a closet than an actual bathroom, but this room was just poorly arranged and made it difficult for two people to actually stay in it. The one downside to the shower was the curtain, which would continually stick to you as you were trying to show. A glass door would have been much better.
The breakfast was adequate: a croissant and a roll with butter and jam, and a coffee--all for 7EUR. You can't get much better than this at a local cafe.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location for those wanting a quiet stay - Exactly what I look for in a two star hotel. Clean, convenient, simple.
- DC (4/5): Good location - Good location
Very small rooms
Nice staff
Close to St Michael
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location , not ideal for summer travel - Location is great, The room is small specially the bathroom may be the smallest bathroom I've ever use. Our biggest issue was that ttere is no air conditioner, so a summer night with just a fan was not fun, if you can pass the small shower , use this hotel in other seasons but not summer
- Stephen (8/5): - Great location and friendly staff. Shower was tiny, even by European standards, but otherwise worked fine. No air conditioning, but opening windows at night to let in the Paris air and kept the room fresh. Great view of the University and the Panthéon.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great choice if you plan on exploring a lot! - Great area for exploring Paris. Friendly and helpful staff. Hotel is dated but suited my needs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Right in the Sorbonne, a short walk to Rue Mouffetard, Jardin Luxembourg & Notre Dame. Basic 2 star hotel with breakfast & clean rooms.
- guy (10/5): Great location. Excellent price. - I would go back. Great deal. Enjoyed staying here. Great staff.
- Darren J H (6/5): Handy location, basic, practical. - Good and comfortable. Room size is small but that's Paris for you.
We just needed a basic place to stay for two days in Paris. We were out the whole day sightseeing so room luxuries were not important to us. Handy 5-6 minute walk from Luxembourg RER B station which is 3 stops from the Eurostar Gare du Nord station (near the Luxembourg Gardens) and 5 minutes walk to Cluny-Sorbonne Metro. 10 minute walk to Fontaine St. Michel where the walking tour departs and 10-15 minute walk to Notre Dame du Paris cathedral. This hotel is right across from the University Sorbonne and we could store our luggage when we checked out. Bathroom was a little small but suitable for us as we aren't very big. One of our main reasons in booking this was the price and location. Pillows were a bit lumpy though...
- Darwin (8/5): great value for Paris - great hotel except the shower only had a curtain so it was impossible to take a shower without flooding the floor.
- Claire (10/5): Perfect budget hotel in lovely area of Paris - Fantastic hotel. Used to live in Paris and go back at least once a year. 1st visit to this hotel and do not think I'll ever stay anywhere else now.
- penny (8/5): Always a pleasure - Second time to stay here. Love this place because of its location and friendly staff. The lift is very small. As is the bathroom but so is most of everything in France!
- Lyn (4/5): Hotel in latin Quarter. - The hotel has a very good location close to some of the sites ,metro and bus stop. We stayed there for 5 nights. The room was tiny probably 1 feet space on both sides which is fine for me since it's just a sleeping and showering place anyways. The hotel receptionist which varies every morning were all nice, friendly and helpful esp the elder guy who is so awesome. The evening receptionist (4 out 5 days) whom we have interacted most of the time since we go back 8-9ish pm was not at par with his colleague very unprofessional. He seems like watching his favorite soap opera and does not wan't to be bothered. On our check out day he just took or payment and went back to watching his soap opera not even a thank you.
- Raymond (8/5): Near Luxembourg Gardens - Convenient for getting to and from either airport and great walking area
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel right in the center of 5th arr - Very nice stay - extremely small but homey and cozy. Was clean and staff was very nice to watch our bags before and after check in. Amazing location with Pantheon right next door and a ton of great restaurants in the area.
- mark (10/5): perfect value! - This hotel is very comfortable and clean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location is super close to Notre Dame and other landmarks. For the price you pay, this is one of the best values in Paris.
- Taela (4/5): Decent location - The room and bathroom were quite small and the staff were only marginally helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): The location is great - We couldn't believe our good luck when we found a room available here, for our stay. It was about half the price of other properties nearby.
The location is unbeatable! The Sorbone is in front. The pantheon was a few minutes away by foot. The metro station was a short walk away, and so were a few fast foods, cafes and restaurants. The Luxembourg park was right in front of these eateries, and the whole neighborhood area was decent and pretty. We visited all places of interest very easily from this hotel.
Now comments on the bad part. Our quadruple room was small, bathroom tiny and uncomfortable. No air conditioning. The only night that it turned really uncomfortable was because it was hot, and even being on the sixth floor didn't free us of some mosquitoes. The receptionist graciously provided us with an electric fan, and told us to keep it with us for the rest of our stay. The window-balconies were dangerous, because the wood in the railing was rotting and flimpsy, in the need of super urgent repair!
Even with the plus of the great location and good price, our stay wasn't comfortable here and so we are not visiting this property again unless.air conditioning is added, and repairs for safety issues have been taken place.
- Richard (10/5): - Hotel is ideally located in Latin Quarter directly across from the Sorbonne. Very friendly ownership and staff, while also providing excellent value and comfort. Near many famous sights and neighborhood is very interesting to walk around, and close to numerous eating establishments. Enjoyed stay very much and would highly recommend.
- Taela (4/5): Didn't live up to expectations - The room was VERY, VERY small, as was the bathroom. The staff were not particularly welcoming; they were okay, but could have been a lot more helpful and friendly. It was far too expensive for the quality of the room.
- philippe (8/5): Very good hotel and location - Excellent. Great staff. Super location. Clean. Friendly
- James (10/5): Small but very nice - Great stay, great location. Friendly staff
- Claudia (2/5): - We had non refundable room, but left money on table and found another hotel. Room was like a closet.
- Catherine (8/5): Good hotel in the centre of the Latin Quarter - This was a decently priced hotel that was well-situated in the Latin Quarter of Paris in the fifth arrondissement. Good food around the area. The room was small but clean.
- Alain (8/5): Great Hotel! - Excellent location, near St. Michel and Latin Quarter. Very friendly staff. Comfortable, clean room.
- Jackie (10/5): Small hotel in central location near the Pantheon - We spent four nights there in August. The Latin Quarter was somewhat empty because everyone was on holiday. Our hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. We had breakfast two mornings there. The breakfast was simply but got everything you needed. The hotel was next to the Sorbonne, the square with fountains and restaurants was around the corner. Every night someone would play music in the square. Because it was in the summer we opened the window at night. We could hear the music clearly for two hours. If we closed the window, the room was quiet but then it got hot. We got used to the music after a few days--it was like to go to school and to be a student again. Very easy to walk to the major attractions in Paris.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel centrally situated - Clean, comfortable, well situated, quiet and friendly helpful staff.
- Amy (8/5): Fantastic location, clean hotel - As other reviewers have mentioned, this hotel is very well located. It's a few blocks from the Jardin de Luxembourg and Pantheon. Really easy access from both Airports since the RER train goes through the Jardin de Luxembourg station. You can walk to Notre Dame and stroll along the Seine. The staff is friendly. The room is a typical, small Paris hotel room with a decent bathroom. As other reviewers mentioned, the elevator is really a conversation piece. I've never seen one that small but it does work! I had the breakfast one day which was good, though 7 Euros. It's so convenient to many cafes that eating in isn't necessary.
- Deborah (6/5): Paris - We knew the hotel room was going to be small, so that was not a problem. The hotel was really well located, clean and tidy. The staff were helpful and we enjoyed our stay. The lift is TINY, but it works,
- Verified traveler (8/5): business trip - Friendly stuff. Great location and good connection for wifi.
- Yulia (8/5): In the heart of Latin Quarter - Everything is very tiny - the room, the shower, the lift. A little bit claustrophobic. but frankly, we came to spend time in browsing Paris. As for me, as long, as I have a clean room to take a shower and sleep in a clean bed, it doesn't matter. I am not a fan of the idea to pay for a luxury storage for my luggage, while I am spending most of my time out of the hotel. So, it's neat and clean, staff is friendly and nice. And beyond of all - the location is almost perfect from any angle of view: accessibility, public transportation, proximity to most frequented landmarks, sights, and attractions, the convenience of getting off / to both airports. The place itself is a remarkable landmark- the heart of Latin Quarter, Sorbonne, Pantheon, Luxemburg Garden and Palace, 10 minutes walk to Notre Dame, 20 minutes to Louvre and so on... In short, good value for the price and quality.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Excellent location, friendly staff, - Charming place, close to everything, great eating places.
- Robert (6/5): Just the job - Great little hotel for a base. Quiet area (I was there on a Saturday night) but only a few minutes from the bars and restaurants of the Latin Quarter.
Quick check-in, spotless room. Very small room (and lift) but if all you need is a bed and a shower, why pay more?
- Teresa (8/5): - Great location near city center and short walking distance to Cluny metro stop and Luxembourg RER.
Very friendly English speaking staff.
The best feature of this room was a USB port next to the television. I had left part of my electricity adapter at home in the US. Without that port I'd have been unable to recharge my cell phone or laptop. It was a lifesaver!
- Susan (8/5): Best location ! - Short walk to the Pantheon, Musèe Cluny, and Notra Dame. Lots of great restaurants close by.z
- Elena (10/5): Good location - This hotel is a good location, close to the sightseeing, friendly staff, very clean, quiet.
