Guest Reviews
- Amelia (6/5): Good but need to know - If you are looking for somewhere to stay it is perfect location close to the centre and room cleaned each day! However I would like to advise they do require you give your room key back everytime you leave the property which made us feel a bit uncomfortable (this is for security reasons)
- Joseph (2/5): - Water was brown.
- Olivia (10/5): Great value for money! - It was great, the staff were lovely!!
- Harry (10/5): - good
- tina (2/5): - Just a place to rest your head. More basic than a motel. Second day we did not have running water. We were told the pumps needed reset. We still did not have water by the next morning. We were told to email the manager and we never heard back. We never got a partial refund.
- Banymaday (8/5): - When out to the store to find some milk for my 2 year old and it felt very unsafe. Also the room didn’t have anywhere I could store the milk after I purchased it.
- James (8/5): - Tiny room, but normal for central London. Great value for money
- Stephanie (2/5): - This house is old, out dated, run down and has no amenities. The stairs... there is a lot of them. Be prepare to climb 4 flights of narrow dangerous dirty carpeted stairs. I climb the stair master for a work out, and this is still rediculous. The showers have zero water pressure, they're tiny and it takes 5 minutes for the hot water. Speaking of, hwow! its hot. No ac, no fans, windows barely open. But they do, just enough to hear the late night homeless crowd out your window, and all of the construction going on inside and outside the building. Spend the extra $50 and go stay somewhere more updated.
- Barbara (2/5): - It was very run down. Warm weather called for open windows, this was a problem because of the noise from other rooms across the hall. Also listed breakfast which was not true. The shower leaked every time you used it. And the doors did not open wide enough for my walker to get in the shower. There were no extra towels, soap etc. I am disabled, and had to go up 3 stairs and then down another 3 just to get to my room. I slept on springs in the matteress. I could not cancel the room because they had a no cancellation policy. hile we wre checking in a saw 2 couples that were not staying after looking around. Now I know why!!!
- George (8/5): - Very old building in good repair. Our room was small, very clean and quite.
- Raghu (4/5): Unbearable noise all night - Very noisy room. Could not sleep much and had to work the next day. Was given a room on the back and when I left the keys and came back room was changed to the noisy one. Will never go back again
- Ryan (8/5): - Parking was a bit far away and it was a 10 minute walk to pubs. The front desk staff were wonderful, but the stairs leading to the rooms were pretty dirty. The room itself was clean. For a quick one night stay before flying out it was ok, close to airport. Location didn’t feel like the best part of town.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Rough Place - Be Careful - A drunk guy stumbled into my unfortunately unlocked room at midnight. The staff shows drunk people to congregate in and speak loudly in the hallway even after you might decide to go out and ask them to be quiet around 1130pm.
- Stephen (6/5): - Parking was a bit of a challenge
- Elizabeth (2/5): - This property was a huge disappointment. Luggage storage was unsecured. Sketchy folks were sitting on the stoop and loitering on sidewalk. Leaving key at front desk was required when leaving for any reason. Man at front desk was rude and appeared under the influence.
We left and booked elsewhere
- Jordan (10/5): - .
- Stephanie (10/5): Friends getaway - Very warm room. No aircon or even a fan apart from that Staff are lovely. Very central and a good price... Will come back
- John (6/5): - Not worth the money
- Joanie (2/5): Dirty, loud, and unsafe - Unkept persons smoking weed and drunk on the entrance stairwells. Forced to move rooms and was made to pay 15€ for cleaning of a larger room. Bathroom was filthy and toilet paper dispenser placed so poorly you had to slipe onto the toilet like sliding into a booth. Loud neighbors in and outside place. NO PARKING. Had to park in garage down the street if space available and it costs 32€ a day. Only positive is the location to the city center, but I wouldn’t feel safe walking at night.
- Rao (8/5): - Good
- Michelle (6/5): - Did not feel safe and the shower leaked everywhere.
- Carter (8/5): - Comfortable accommodations. It was just what we needed. Use of luggage storage was very appreciated!
- Anu (8/5): - Good
- Binson (8/5): - Everything ok but car parking charge is taken (14euro) not fair.
- Colin (4/5): - Terrible place blood on the curtains, room stank of smoke, junkies outside of b&b at night, will not return
- Tasma (6/5): Average - A basic place, slightly below average. Small areas beside the bed, shower that works but only has one place to put it (which is right on your face), flies around the bathroom, not very sound proof (could hear the man snoring next door and when he put his plug in the outlet).
But it was a fine place to sleep and cheaper compared to the rest. It did the job we wanted.
- Patrick (4/5): - I did not stay there. Information from business incorrect. There is absolutely NO PARKING near business.
- Thomas (4/5): - Rooms were small and noisy.
- Lana (10/5): - After reading so many negative reviews, I was extremely worried before getting to the B and B… Our flight was delayed and I wrote them an email to let them know. When we arrived at 3am, the staff was there to greet us and let us in. Checking in was a breeze and so was the check out. The staff is just lovely. The rooms are small but we had expected that (we chose a cheap option and so didn’t need more than a bed, a bathroom, tv and coffee/tea). It was very comfortable and clean. It is walking distance from everywhere and we were very lucky. The only thing that I’d mention, and it’s not the fault of the hotel, is that it is a common area for party goers to hang out before getting on the busses home… so it was common for us to be woken up between 2 and 4 am.
- David (10/5): - Convenient location, easy check-in.
- Jemma (8/5): - B&B was within walking distance to a lot of tourist areas. B&B was clean, and all the staff were friendly. Only thing I disliked was that the room was quite dated, and a piece of the bottom of shower was coming off. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay. Fairly quiet location and had no issues with noise even though we had the window open all night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely people and a great help in terms of where to go and how to get there and assistance in using car park space
- Aaron (10/5): - Great, great staff, very friendly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Okay for short stay - Was okay for what we needed, but no frills location near downtown Dublin. Window to street was small and let in little ventilation but lots of street noise.
- Ximena (4/5): - I was extremely disappointed with this B&B. The price was too high for the experience. Avoid it if you can.
Location is horrible, right on a very noisy, dirty and unsafe street. The rooms have no air conditioning and we had to keep the window open to be able to handle the heat, so it was terribly noisy ALL day and night long, either by passing cars or by noisy drunk people walking on the street.
The neighbourhood promised convenience, which it fulfilled, it is located on a walking distance from the city Center, but it is not a pleasant walk. Streets were dirty, smelly and ugly.
There are other better places were to stay, equally walkable, like the dock lands.
The room was very small, it fit 5 people in the tiny beds, but there was no room for comfortably handling and leaving luggage. It felt cramped and ventilation was an issue, so again, window had to be kept open. The room was clean when we arrived but they do not provide housekeeping services during your stay. Toiletries are not provided besides a very low quality hand and body soap foam. There is also no hairdryer. The shower was small with broken shower doors.
The only good part was the staff, though not all of them. The 2 Latino receptionists (a Bolivian girl and I believe a Mexican boy) were extremely helpful, nice and pleasant.
We did not try the breakfast, we didn’t want to add any more disappointments to our stay in Hazzelbrook accommodation.
- Martin (6/5): - Room and installation need to be renewed. Staff is very friendly and helpfull.
- Vivienne (6/5): So-so - We booked two rooms here, but they were not able to give us two rooms close to each other. In fact, we had a room on the very top floor, with no elevator, and we are not young folks any more! And our family had a room on the ground floor. Dublin is expensive, so this place was fairly well-priced for Dublin, but was really pretty basic---not sure why it's called B&B. Our room had no chair, no desk surface, so rather hard to do any computer work, which we needed to do. So, overall, okay, but not outstanding, and we probably wouldn't return.
- Barbara (8/5): No frills but great location, comfy and safe - While it was very basic and no frills, it was perfectly fine for our 2 night stay. It was clean, not too noisy, great location. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had a quad room #1 downstairs. The only things that we found lacking was lighting in the room and no hooks or shelves or racks in the bathroom to place anything. There is no breakfast included but they do have a kettle with tea and coffee in the room. You are just steps from dozens of cafes, pubs, shops, and restaurants Seems to be a neighborhood where people actually live. 1st timer to Dublin here and I never once felt unsafe
- Julie (10/5): Cheap and cheerful - Basic but all we needed nice and clean, bed comfy and very clean and nice hot shower. Lovely helpful and polite people on the reception. They also allow you to leave your cases with them free of charge. We will stay again. Thank you Hazelbrook House
- Laura (6/5): - Room was adequate, beds comfortable, shower challenging, location good for our needs.
- Omphile (8/5): - I liked the quietness
- Anders (8/5): Very good hotel with friendly staff. - It was exactly what I needed, a clean room in the city centre for 1 night.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, even though I was a bit stressed not getting a taxi to get to the airport.
Very positive feeling from them.
The room was a standard, clean with en-suite. The house is older so you could hear the neighbours a bit, but I slept good.
Of course there are a few small tips that can improve the stay; a bottle of water in the room would be nice since the tap water is a bit bad tasting. Perhaps a local free magazine/newspaper in the room to read and check what’s on in Dublin.
But over all, the hotel is price-worthy, and to be that centrally located very good value for the money.
- Jerome (10/5): - Inexpensive and clean
- Brian (10/5): - Friendly staff and very convenient location
- Ian (4/5): - Good price good location. Staff very variable. Really friendly to downright rude. Our ferry was cancelled and we arrived late so we rang to inform. But the message was not passed on
- Ed (8/5): - Very helpful and efficient staff. Location was walking distance to everything I wanted to see. The neighbor is safe but I felt uncomfortable. I would recommend
- John (6/5): - Clean room and nice bathroom.
No elevator to get to fourth floor.
Creaky floorboards. No fan for the heat.
- Verified traveler (2/5): No star luxury ??? - The area was very poor as was the welcome. I was moaned at as I had the wrong reservation number on my print out, the room on the 'ground floor was small and smelly the 'shower room' was a shower !!, the hand basin fitting were loose, as well as the water being only tepid, the toilet seat moved when you sat on it, it did flush quite well but after a while water appeared on the floor around it and neither of us wanted to use the actual shower due to it's state. I must admit that the mirror worked ! The towels supplied - 2 hand & 2 slightly larger were semi reasonable The tea making facilities were there albeit the cups needed washing. We also had to be back in our room by 1200 midnight ?? What added insult to injury was the noise from not only the rooms upstairs but having to have the only window in the room open, was the loudness of the foreign language coming from the 'unit' next door that went on until 0230/0300 am.. No I would not suggest to anyone that they stay here. It's put a very bad slant on B & B's although in was in Dublin near to the shopping areas - nowhere near worth what was charged. A very bad choice on my part - it WILL NOT happen again
- Joep (8/5): - Considering this was the cheapest room at the time of booking it could have been much worse. Staff is very friendly and helpful, the room was clean although the bathroom had some weird stains on the ceiling. There was lots to do around, and it was located not even 500 meters from the Spire
- Jules (8/5): Good value but no AC - Decent accomodation - very clean. The only down side is that there is no AC so it got pretty got in the afternoon.
- Lawrence (8/5): - Very comfortable
- Stephanie (8/5): - Room was spotless.. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room. The rooms were lovely and warm as it was bitter cold outside..love the fact that we have to buzz at the front door and they see u in camera and let u in...
- David (10/5): - The staff were very helpful!
- James (8/5): - A place to lay your head after touring Dublin and a quick trip to Dublin airport. Friendly staff arranged a taxi 🚕 for us.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Could be cleaner...
- Maria (8/5): - Good location.
- Ella (6/5): - Hotel room clean, but was cold in rooms (heating didn’t worked). when we bought B&B no one told us that breakfast won’t be available. We just found it while we checked in.
- Alan (8/5): - Ideal location for a anyone in Dublin for a few days. Bang in the city center. Everything in walking distance.
- Stephanie (8/5): - Great location, walkin distance to Henry Street and o connell Street.. Nice cosy warm rooms nice friendly staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice easy to find spot. Near all attractions to see in city centre.Comfortable room. A little noise in the hallway but this is to be expected in a old city building and cheap hotel.
- Grenie (8/5): - it was good
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location was great! Walking distance to everything. The bus to airport.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - You have to turn your key in every time you leave the facility, and sign back in to return to your room. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it can be inconvenient. Staff and friendly and helpful, the price is very reasonable, and the location is fantastic -- very central!
- M.E.Wieringa (6/5): - Not very clean
Dated
Beds are not too good
Very poor breakfast
Great Location
Easy connection with the airport
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I asked for a double room with my fiancé but we got given the twin room. Upon questioning I got told this is the only room available. I thought nevermind we’re 2 adults and we’ll be fine.
However we just got so unlucky with this room. It was right next to the smoking area. We had to have the blinds closed all day as people kept walking by constantly. I was woken up several times in the middle of night as other loud guests kept walking outside of the room. But the worst thing was that the door to the outside had to stay open all the time meaning it was absolutely freezing in there.
I also didn’t appreciate the cleaners going through our personal items. First day our passports had been moved and both days our clothes (including underwear) were being moved from the bed or the floor into our suitcase.
The only positive thing was that it’s at a great location. But then again the street is filled with similar places, it’s not worth the hassle.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - First I was given a room that felt like I was sleeping in a corridor. It was a complete match box and there was no cupboard to put your clothes away. I was then changed to another room where the shower didn’t work. I had to shower in someone else’s room, which had already been used. All night I could hear the sound of ratteling pipes. The receptionist was unhelpful and rude
- Teresa (8/5): Fantastic experience - We had a great experience. Staff friendly and helpful.
Room was comfortable enough. Shower room quite new and modern. I would book again.
Very close to city centre. Bus from and to airport just outside the hotel. So convenient and fast journey.
- Martin (10/5): Wonderful and Fully Recommended - A pleasant surprise. Very happy with room 21. Left luggage storage very handy. A microwave would have been handy. I repaired the plug chain in the basin.
- Christopher (6/5): Not really happy - The staff was not helpful
They lack competence
- Verified traveler (8/5): - While the lobby was underwhelming, I was very pleasantly surprised by the size of my room and comfort of the bed. The bathroom was very small but fine for one person, but overall the bed was very roomy and the room was very comfortable.
- c.lynnes (4/5): - Very quiet - except hearing someone snoring loud from the next room.
Morning shower no hot water
No face clothes
Very minimal. Kettle in the room was good for my tea.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a good spot to stay close to a lot of things in Dublin. They also lock the premises and have someone on site 24/7 which is convenient for coming and going. For 7-8 euros they also have full breakfast available. The condition of the facilities is not spectacular but it was clean so overall fitting to the price. Note that there are quite a few stairs so if you can’t carry your luggage for some reason you may want to contact them in advance about staying on the ground floor (I had 4 flights of stairs to my room).
- Yohannes (8/5): Nice place. Mold smell needs improvement - Nice place overall. My only reservation is smell of mold and stinky carpets. Maybe better without carpets. Otherwise, nice place to stay. Friendly staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good location, lovely building and roonm- a little small though. All the staff were 5 star exellent. Memorable visit to a remarkable location - Dublin. Something that will stay with us as a really good memory for the rest of our lives. Thank you
- Verified traveler (8/5): Practical - Breakfast was good. All very clean. Room small
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value, handy location - Our room was away from the street so relatively quiet. The bathroom had been recently refurbished so was immaculate. The room had also been refurbished, with new carpet, furniture and paintwork.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Coszy place to stay - I found my stay to be quite comfortable, and the staff were very polite n helpful towards my needs..I really enjoyed my stay
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not a B&B - would NOT recommend! - This is not a Bed and Breakfast! It is a very basic hotel. The rooms, although clean, were very small and sparse feeling. I checked in and after seeing the room, immediately found another hotel and checked out.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - You had to hand your keys in when you leave each time, but felt secure being buzzed in and out and verified each time. Luggage storage was also handy.
- Oliver (8/5): - Quiet clean and comfortable
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very professional staff and clean, bathrooms are a little small
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We were able to book two rooms at a location that was close to places of interest to us and our guest.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very basic - Our flight was delayed. When we came to the hotel at 2am totally exhausted we were knocking the door and ringing the bell for about 15 min cuz nobody was at the reception at that time. We were given the room on 4th floor with no elevator, so if you have a heavy suitcase It could be challenging. Hotel hasn’t been renovated for many years, everything is worn out. It’s clean but bathroom has a smell of some chemicals similar to insects repellent.
- Wendy (8/5): Tiny but clean near train station - Very convenient to train station but the neighborhood otherwise is a bit sketchy. Room was clean, new bathroom fixtures but so tiny you can open two suitcases at once.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Overpriced! - The stay was fine, but this place was incredibly overpriced. Very basic, full-sized bed, tiny room for an astronomical cost. Breakfast wasn't even included. It's a completely fine B&B for a no frills stay, but they charge much, much more than they're worth.
- Beverley (2/5): Parking cannot be booked or guaranteed, not free - I chose this hotel because it appeared to have free parking. It has two spaces, very inconveniently situated behind the hotel, you have to be let in and out and it costs 10 euros a day. Hotel is OK.
- chris (8/5): - If you want a very nice old fashioned B&B then this is it. The room we had was clean and comfortable and the elderly couple that own it are quite charming. It's a victorian house. Don't expect anything else. Saying that, the bed was comfortable, clean and the shower was good and hot. The village has a very good range of eateries and a couple of pubs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hazelbrook is a gem! Safe, very clean, helpful staff (even printed off our flight boarding passes). Great location, within walking distance to many attractions, and Airlink bus stops a few doors down. The only drawback was the noise of the washer early in the morning. That said, I would definitely stay at Hazelbrook again!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Price was good and cheap. My room was in the far back of the hotel in a corner with dim lighting and little natural light. The place advertises itself as a BnB which implies breakfast is part of the price. It's not, breakfast is separate
- Verified traveler (2/5): - There is no lift and if you have a room in 2nd/3rd floowr hard time to take luggage at so high. Bathroom is so small and bedsheets and towels are properly clean.
- Cheryl (8/5): - Convenient location by bus station. Lights in hallway and outside off and on all night long.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Worst night ever - We have stayed in a double room in the “B house” which is a separeted area in the back of the building. The room was literally a shoebox and we could barely move without bumping into the bed.
As we were only sleep here I could have been fine but this was the worst nigh in my life. The room was icing cold despite having a radiator, the walls were paper thin and we could hear the neighbour snoring, no joking.
every time someone closed a door nearby the bed was shaking...I can’t write the price on the review apparently but wasn’t price for the quality of the room
we couldn’t sleep there one more night so we checked out one day in advance (no refund policy).
We told the man at the from desk that we were checking out one day earlier and he didn’t even ask why or if there was any problem.
- Chris (8/5): - Nice and clean and close to city centre. On bus route from airport, quiet area
- Louis (8/5): - This is definitely a budget hotel and if you’re not particularly picky about decor or ambience you’ll do OK considering the price they charged. I stayed there just one night before my flight home. I booked a single and the room was quite small but it was clean all though the room showed signs of wear and tear as far as the paint job and there were some signs of wear and tear on the bathroom. The room was quiet and well heated with good hot water, The bed was comfortable and I had a quiet night and slept well. The location is excellent with the bus to the airport practically right outside the door. O’Connell St. is about a five minute walk away If you’re looking for a budget option. They are security conscious and do not allow guests in the rooms. Again if you’re looking for a budget option this place is a Great choice particular considering the price here
- Michele (10/5): - Lovely hotel on street very close to city centre. Staff was fantastic, especially Pat, he was extremely helpful always willing to make our trip better!! Thanks Pat!!
- Heather (8/5): - The room was close to downtown Dublin. It was clean and simple
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean and a great location Staff were very polite and helpful
- Justin (6/5): - Great location, but didn't like not having an elevator. And we felt forced to have our roomed clean as we had to leave the key at the front desk.
- dave (8/5): - Descent hotel bit pricey but close to centre.cant realy comment much on hotel as we only slept there
- Paul (10/5): 1 night in town centre hotel - Lovely place - billed as three star, I'd call it a four - room very comfy, lounge a pleasure to sit in. But main attraction was the genuinely-friendly staff, who couldn't have done more.
