- Gloriya (10/5): - It’s the obviously not a usual American hotel chain. It’s a cozy hotel with elevator. It’s perfect location and quiet. In 30 minutes we visited several famous locations while walking ( we weren’t expecting so many and so close to the hotel). Room was very small and cozy especially for American standards. Bathroom was clean. Very unique design, very French. Our room had adjoining balcony with other room with little table and chairs. Hotel organized for us pick up from airport and to back to airport which was very convenient especially when we don’t speak French language. Breakfast was available. We did enjoy the stay.

- Veronica (4/5): - Rooms and showers are too small, there are no power points for devices (we had to unplug a lamp to charge our phones). Sudenly the alarm started beeping (and were not informed why) we had to leave immediately as that was too noisy. But the worse was we stayed almos 24 hours with no WiFi. A tourist cannot survive with no WiFi. Some staff are friendly, some others indifferent.

It’s quiet, charming, and very convenient to so many attractions; the Louvre, Les Halles, Metro station, shopping, dining, My room was a good size and had all the modern conveniences necessary. - MELISSA ANNETTE (10/5): - This hotel oozes charm and character. It's not new, but I gave the property 5 stars because it felt cozy, warm and FRENCH! I live in a modern city, so for a change, I wanted the tiny elevator, the narrow winding stairs, the vintage furniture, wallpaper and velvet pillows. It was lovely. Every person I met who worked there was extremely kind, polite and patient. I even liked the old fashioned keys you leave at the desk. I was very comfortable and the neighborhood was safe. The bar/restaurant next door was wonderful. I like to walk everywhere and the location was central and convenient. I'm not a morning person so I didn't have breakfast, but it was available. You can pay for it one day at a time. I thought the price was very reasonable. I'm so glad I stayed there.

- Staci (4/5): - I am 5’5”. My head kept hitting the ceiling in our bathroom. I’m actually injured. The hotel looks nice and the staff is excellent but if you end up on the 6th floor the rooms have been converted from an attic. The ceilings are low and there was no room to put our bags down. Literally. We had to stack them on a small table when we were in the bed.

The room was much less so, the most pressing concern was spots of black mold on the ceiling in the shower, but generally the carpet was threadbare, the desk in the room near falling apart and the room had a shabby feel about it. We arrived very late so after a very thorough search for bugs (didn't find any!) we spent one of our planned two nights here. The next day my wife and I moved to a hotel nearer to the Eiffel Tower, and I'm thankful we did as the cleanliness and comfort were leagues better. This hotel has an amazing location, and could be great, but they need to clean their act up.

Our family room was on the 5th floor, we appreciated the original features of our room including beams, stone wall, traditional fabric wall covering and a beautiful vintage mural outside the window. The staff were very helpful and attentive, and we were able to leave our luggage in their care on our last day. Overall a very comfortable stay, thank you.

- charles (8/5): - This is a basic, charming hotel with an excellent staff. Good value for the location. I'd recommend a stay if you are a budget-conscious traveler who plans on seeing the major sights in Paris.
- Vernica (8/5): - The positives were that it's location was very good for walking the streets of Paris. Both the Louvre and Notre Dame were close, the Seine only a block away and there were dozens of Cafes and restaurants within a short stroll from the hotel. Metro stations were also easy to reach and covered all of the city. Negative was the condition of the room. We knew that the hotel was an old building, and had booked it for exactly that quality, but the TV faced the entry door and could not be turned in any other direction, the toilet seat was missing a support and moved, it was also chipped in three places. The shower was tiny, again due to the age of the hotel and the room available to actually position a shower, but the seals kept falling off and the floor got completely soaked every time we used it. Also a fair amount of the woodwork was scratched, chipped and generally looked beaten, an easy fix. The in-room safe also did not work as orange lights just flashed whenever you tried to set it, and the printed instructions were inaccurate. The front desk team was pretty friendly and helpful and the maid was pleasant.

- Hardik (8/5): Great location and artistic rooms - We reached the hotel around 12 pm even though the check-in time was 2 pm hoping to get the room a bit early if it was ready. We did not get the room at 12 so, we left the bags there and went out for our lunch. We returned to the hotel at 2:15 pm hoping to rest up in the hotel room but surprisingly the room was still not ready even though we were past the check in time of 2pm. This was a small negative experience. Apart from that, the room was quite spacious to accommodate 4. The room was quite nice the way it was setup and had an old-world charm to it with old wooden furniture (bar table, bar cabinet and the study table). The breakfast spread was quite minimal and one would expect to have a bigger spread in such a hotel. The dining area was also quite small and the chairs were arranged such that it was difficult to move in and out without causing a discomfort to the person sitting behind you. The shower area was quite tiny and could have been better to have a bigger shower area. The location of this hotel is amazing as there are so many places around it at walking distance. I would surely recommend this hotel for someone visiting Paris.

- Laura (10/5): Charming Paris - This was a quintessential old Paris hotel. It was beautifully decorated & made you feel like you were part of old Paris. Wood beams. Red & gold decorations. It felt luxurious. I know some people have commented on the "run down" feel. I will say if you want modern, sleek & big, youre not getting it in a 400 year old building. It did have everything you need, you just might need to duck here & there as they have made clever use of all available space. We had a balcony & we love the old world charm. Staff was friendly. I would highly recommend this place.

- Lyn (8/5): - We booked 3 rooms for three nights for a group of five, partly for the wonderfully central location and price but also for the historic nature of the hotel, which we all loved. The Superior Double room was beautiful but unfortunately faced a building currently being renovated with workmen starting at 8.00am. One of the two Classic Double rooms had the same problem but the other faced a light well. We didn't have the breakfast so can't comment on that. There are plenty of nice cafes and bars close by. Would certainly return once work on the building opposite is completed and hope the work planned on the hotel itself will preserve the quirky romantic charm which makes it so special.
- Irene (8/5): - Our room wasn’t as pretty as the pictures, but it was okay. We had a room with 3 single beds for 3 people, it was small, but enough, we didn’t really spend that much time there. The location makes it all worth it. Louvre and Notre Dame are within walking distance, and the metro station Chatelet is right around the corner, and it’s like a hub to many metro lines, you can literally go anywhere from there. The breakfast was good and convenient. 15 euro seemed a lot at first, but when we tried eating somewhere else it was even more.
- Brenda (2/5): - We had so sit and wait for two hours past check in time for the room to be ready. They kept telling us it would be ready in 15 more minutes. The carpet in the lobby needed to be vacuumed. The stairs were so filthy and stained I was shocked. They clearly had not been vacuumed in a long time. But the worst part was our room. There was black mold on the ceiling and around the vent in the bathroom. The room reeked of vinegar. There was fabric wallpaper on the walls. There were little dark spots all over the wall around the headboard that looked like mold. We opened the windows to air out the room. Outside of one window is a small landing full of cigarette butts. Out of the other there was a rod that is a pigeon perch. There was an inch of bird crap there. I was afraid to leave that window open. There were many dark stains on the walls, like splattered coffee in several areas. The beds have mattresses and two mattress toppers stacked on top of the mattresses. The hotel is in a narrow back alley. The neighborhood did not feel safe. After taking many photos and calling the company we booked through, we checked out and fled to a clean hotel in a safe area.

- Charles (6/5): - Spent a week at the hotel. What I liked: location - walkable to many major attractions in Paris Centre. 30 seconds from the metro Chatelet. The room was charming. I liked the toile on the wall and the exposed wooden beams. The room was exceedingly clean and housekeeping tidied every day and changed the pillow linens. The breakfast was copious though I grew tired of the same offering after a week. Finally the staff was very friendly and helpful. The weak points: the room that I had is in need of some TLC. While clean , it was run down and shabby and could benefit from a ‘cure’. Despite being on a very small side street, it was very noisy. It seemed to have garbage removal every single day along with other service trucks throughout the week. The construction work on the building next door starts early and lasts all day. Glad we were out and about most of the day to miss it. You can often hear people talking or listening to the television in neighbouring rooms. Finally, the room does not have individualized climate control. Throughout most of the time we were there the heat was on. Some nights we had to sleep with the window open as it reached 25C. Would I stay there again? Yes. It is good value. It is a great location. The neighbourhood appears quite safe and in proximity to services, and sites of interest. It is a three-star hotel after all and not the Ritz. If you are expecting five-star accommodation, look elsewhere. Thank you for the visit!

The location was nearby to the Marai and museums etc. like many old city’s the rooms are small and I’m ok with this. However the shower was a cruise ship sized shower and the only way to cool the room was to sleep with the window open which is not ideal in the city.

The staff is very helpful and accommodating. If you’re looking for perfectly modern, you’re in the wrong place but if you want charming (some things a little outdated) at a decent rate, this is your place!

- Alexander (6/5): Good location, OK hotel. - Good location--easy to and from the airport. i found the bed to be uncomfortable--it was just 2 twin frames pushed together. My room was clean, but very worn. it looks like some rooms are being renovated, so I did have to deal with the noise from this during the day when I was in my room. Staff was helpful, and they have umbrellas for use if needed, which I did.
- JIAN (10/5): Perfect location, great experience! - The location is so convenient! Although it is an older hotel, the tiny elevator does the job perfectly! The free luggage storage service gives you more flexibility on the day you check out, which is great! The buffet-style breakfast is also excellent,it gives you enough energy to walk for long hours in the Louvre. The mattress is great and comfortable too. The staff are all friendly, and a special thanks to George at the front desk. He is so nice and willing to help us call a cab and load luggage into the car on a rainy day.
- ruth (10/5): - Loved loved loved this hotel. Very “French” decor. All staff were friendly and helpful chose it as it was in our desired area our desired place and has a balcony. We very much enjoyed the end of the day with a cognac on the balcony.

- YOUSEF (8/5): - Overall we had a great experience. The most important thing about this hotel is location! The rooms are good size considering its location. When we checked in, we got a room on the highest floor (6th). We thought the view must be nice but the room did not have any view. Also it had a bathtub with no shower which was a pain. So we asked for another room were we could take shower! The staff were nice and friendly, they said we could switch our room the next day. So we got a room on the 1st floor on day 2 that had a tiny but nice shower. It was early in Oct and the room was still hot but the AC did not work. When we enquired, they said they turn off the hotel AC in October and that is why AC does not work. They gave us a small fan which helped a bit. The weather got better the following days and we had no need for it. I recommend this hotel if you care about location.
- Kathlynn (8/5): Love this place - Short stay @ our fav city & our long-time fav Parisian hotel. Location & hotel staff are awesome. Only drawback to this particular stay was the lack of consistent internet connection. Frustrating as we had German and Polish family health concerns that we needed to keep abreast of.
- Lisa (10/5): Charming and historic - Perfect location near restaurants, shopping, sightseeing, and train station. Charming and clean hotel with Wi-Fi and a wonderful breakfast. We loved the vibe of staying in an older building decorated in French period fitting the property. George at the reception desk was helpful and friendly. We are already planning our next stay!
- JoDee (10/5): - This is a 16th century jewel. The room was tiny, yet exquisitely quaint and charming. The staff was friendly and helpful. One man at the desk provided stamps and mailed my postcards for me. Another woman at the desk took photos of us upon seeing us try some selfies. Great restaurants are around the corner and we were within walking distance of Notre Dame and the Louvre. The hotel provides maps and umbrellas. Breakfast was very nice with excellent coffee and plenty of good food.

- Ed (10/5): - From checking in to checking out we had friendly service. Add the breakfast to your reservation as it is a perfect start to the day. Area has some good cafes and dining. With in walking distance to Louvre
- Joseph (4/5): - If you like an old antique hotel then this is the place for you. Small room with not very many amenities. They could not even replenish the coffee in the room. But I chose it for its location to The Louvre and Notre Dame. The staff was nice but didn’t like having to hand in my room key every time I went out.

- Crystal (6/5): - The property was unique and was close to many of the sights. However, it was not in a great location and our travel party had a security incident. They offer physical keys and you must lock the door behind you. After one of our visitors left without fully locking the door, someone outside of the hotel came in and stole electronics. The hotel manager was not very helpful and simply told us to take it up with the police and it was our fault for not locking the door. I don't necessarily disagree with them, but simply stating the situation so folks understand the area and the risks related to staying at this property.

- Susan (10/5): - This hotel is a lovely gem tucked one block away from busy central streets. All around are excellent restaurants, shopping, and great people watching. The Louvre is a 15 minute walk, Notre Dame is 20 minutes away, and I am a slow walker. The staff is exceptional. Each one super helpful and friendly. The breakfast is excellent. I don't think the write up on Expedia or the hotel's website makes it clear you have scrambled eggs, a soft or hard boiled egg device (DIY), sausage, multiple pastries, yogurt, fruit cocktail, dried fruit, juice, slices of ham, cheese, and a hot beverage machine. All this for 15 euros! And probably other things I've forgotten. My flight arrived early in the day, and they honored my request for early check in.
- Florian (6/5): - Rooms didn’t look like advertised, not sure if it even was the room I booked. Was supposed to get complimentary charger, newspaper and map of Paris. Got none of that. The last night in the hotel and the next day there was no hot water in the rooms due to renovations. Credit of $30 is a bit measly when you fly out on an 11 hour flight and can’t have a shower before hand…
- Noel (8/5): - Disappointed that we didn’t have a balcony we could sit on even though that was what we had requested but we had a Juliet balcony instead. The staff were amazing when my partner was unwell.
- Lori (2/5): - The rooms look nothing like the pictures on-line. We’ve stayed in Europe many times before and know what to expect but this was not good. Our shower didn’t drain and although we notified them six days in a row, nothing was done. We ran out of soap, tissues and toilet paper on different days. The room was clean for the most part but the size of the bathroom would be very difficult for anyone who is more than an average size. Our towels had holes in them and the furnishings in the room were shabby. They also informed us that there would be construction during the day so it would be noisy. Compared to other hotels that we’ve stayed in during trips to Paris, this one was not good. On a good note, most of the staff was very friendly and helpful so that was much appreciated.
- Eriq Bay (10/5): - Great little find. Súper convenient. The furthest attraction is the Eiffel Tower and even that is doable. This hotel meets all your basic needs and they are done well. Even the breakfast was nice. Almost all lobby staff were pleasant and helpful. Lastly we found some great restaurants all around this area. Would definitely stay here again

- Ron (10/5): - We stayed in the superior room. It was very nice, clean, good atmosphere with classical decor and medieval look. Room was large enough by Paris standards and very high ceilings makes a big difference. Has elevator albeit very small. Close to shops, restaurants, Metro and Seine. Would stay here again.

- Verified traveler (2/5): "Hotel De-champaigne" more like "Motel De-beer" - I visited Grand Hotel Dechampaigne on a business trip and had to book it last second. I stayed on the top floor (6) and the elevator only went up to floor 5, which was okay as I am young and healthy. It was 33 C outside, and the AC gave off an extremely loud sound every 2 minutes or so. This was not possible to turn off. Imagine trying to sleep and every 2 minutes someone starts drilling into your walls while also playing a foghorn sound. It was unbearable. Even with the AC off the sound would keep happening for hours. The room had furniture and details which looked to be at least 30-40 years old, which to me is okay since I like the 80s/90s retro vibe. Old plastic details that had turned yellow and such. Not very "Grand". It is located next door to some sort of homeless shelter or drug rehabilitation center, which I of course support in itself, and it wasn't a problem for me since I'm a big guy, but if you're a solo female this might be a scary experience. I'm not the type of person to complain about hotels or traveling, in fact I believe this is my first time ever doing so. This was the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced.
- Nicholas (4/5): - The location is great, as are the lobby and staff. The rooms are clean but very, very tired, in need of a major renovation 20 years ago. The common areas (stairs, corridors) look like they were last cleaned 40 years ago with absolutely filthy carpets. Good location as I said, but should be $75-100 less for the quality.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The ac was not working and the sink would not drain. I paid extra to stay somewhere with ac and they did not inform me of the situation at check in. Additionally they did not do anything to make the situation better at all. They took no responsibility and had an “oh well” attitude.
