Guest Reviews
- Petra (6/5): - This was my 2nd time staying at Relais du Pres. The first time was wonderful all around. However, this time we were disappointed with a number of issues. We stayed 4 nights. Our bathroom shower door was too small and the water sprayed onto the floor. There was also a foul smell in the bathroom a number of times. Our carpet and a stool were very badly stained.
The breakfast room staff were not very friendly and we had to ask for our coffee each morning. One day, there was no fruit left at 8:45 am. The next day, there was no bread left at 8:45. A guest had to complain at the front desk and a staff member rushed out and brought back enough bread for one table of guests only.
- Liz (8/5): - Our room was better than our family’s room next door. They had issues with a smell from the shower drain and the door knob kept falling off. The door has a horrible small knob which is very difficult to turn. They didn’t have a nice mirror in their room like we did. The shower was great except the water goes all over the floor. It was noisy outside as well if you had the window open which you need to keep open or the room was very warm. Otherwise the value was good.
- maria (8/5): - Well
- Carmel (2/5): - Do not book this hotel, it’s more like a hostel, the carpet and rooms were dirty, the bed sheets clean but the room was the worst room we had stayed in, the reviews that say 10/10 are fake reviews. Don’t give them the business. The area didn’t feel safe after dark.
- Victor (2/5): - DO NOT STAY HERE. This was by far the absolute worst place I have ever set foot in. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE PICTURES. They show you glamorous shots but then put you in a room with BUGS AND MOLD EVERYWHERE. I was relocated to their neighbor hotel that they own and it was EQUALLY AS DISGUSTING. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS AREA. Pay a LITTLE bit more and stay in Les Halles, this area is much more safe and clean.
- Craig (10/5): Charming hotel in a really great location - Overall, our stay was lovely. The staff were really friendly, breakfast staff super attentive, the quality of the breakfast was great and the room was comfy. Location couldn’t have been better. Surrounded by restaurants and very near a metro station and gare du nord. I’d say the only thing that needs changing is renovating the rooms. The decor could do with a freshen up and new door handles and keys for the rooms
- Stephen (10/5): - Highly recommended this accommodation
- Glenda (10/5): - Lovely, quaint, quiet and clean accommodation with friendly and attentive staff. Great location and walkable.
- Kenneth (8/5): - Friendly service. Near transportation.
- Stefano (10/5): - good hotel
- Anna (10/5): - Great hotel value for money, very clean. Great breakfast. In the beginning upon check in the front desk overnight staff could not find my reservation and we had to wait extra time, but overall it was a great hotel for couple of nights, many restaurants around and a metro station. Also, hotel is situatedwalking distance to main attractions such as Louvre and Opera House.
- Jonnalyn (8/5): - Great location, close to Metro.
- Patrick (8/5): - The bathroom/shower area remained very wet after a shower - could've used a fan.
- Keryn (10/5): - Had a great stay at Relais du Pre. Easy to find and walk to from Gare du Nord. Friendly, English speaking staff. We arrived early in the morning and they kindly stored our bags for the day till we were able to check in. Rooms are quite basic but clean and had all we needed (except fridge). Breakfast is available for 12 euro but we slept in. Late check out around 11am is helpful. We’d stay again, close to Metro station and great cafes.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Solid little hotel near Gare du Nord - This is a great little hotel that I often use when I am in Paris for a brief period of time. It's walking distance to Gare du Nord, which is very convenient for accessing the airport by train, and the neighborhood has a good amount of international cuisine. The rooms are small and there are tubs with shower heads, not formal showers, so it could be a difficult place for someone with limited mobility. But it's a nice hotel overall and I've always found the staff friendly and helpful.
- eileen (10/5): - Hotel was very nice. Helpful staff. Room was very clean , bathroom very modern, great walk in shower and very clean as well. Breakfast had a good variety, plenty to choose from. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.
- Ssaurabh (10/5): - Very well connected and close to major landmarks. Very affordable and well trained English speaking staff
- Kim (8/5): Great location for a sightseeing break. - A great location for exploring Paris with a Metro just a few minutes walk away. A couple of very nearby small bars - we didn't explore the actual area very far as this was a sight seeing visit. Room has been recently painted, bed was comfy. Small room but fine for sleeping - quiet. Lovely continental breakfast and very helpful, friemdly, efficient staff.
- Andrea (8/5): - The hotel was clean and I can see that it had been upgraded. Staff were nice and it was a good distance from metro station. It was also nice and warm. The rooms were quite small, breakfast pretty basic but overall good value for money.
- Sameer (8/5): - Value for money if on a budget trip to Paris
- Joel (6/5): - Our room did not look like this photo. I was a very small room with a moldy carpet. The bathroom did not have any doors or curtains. They should always put a photo of the bathroom.
- gordon (8/5): - Property close to train station and an easy walk to most attractions. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms however were very small and worn out. No stand up shower. The photos provided on Expedia site were definitely taken with some creativity to enhance the room sizes. If you leave your windows open, as we did due to the lack of air conditioning, be aware that the street below can be extremely noisy.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Pros & Cons -
Staff were very helpful and they try to fulfill all our needs. We can give 5 stars for them.
No air conditioner in the room, but they have fan.
Internet (wifi) was very poor and had issues. In this internet world they need to provide faster wifi which will help visitors search and find things to do faster.
- Jannat (8/5): Good place - Good clean place, fits a good budget too, very friendly staff, l recommend
- Ebrahim (8/5): - Area was dirty but access to public transportation was great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great cost benefit - Cosy little hotel inside the 18th arrondissement in Paris.
Staff is friendly, breakfast is small but well done and staff is very polite and ready to help. I recommend. Good cost / benefit.
- Eric (10/5): - very convenient , close to Metro and train station
- Verified traveler (8/5): Bike Friendly. - Clean room but bed is not level (kind of lopsided) which makes for an uncomfortable sleep; room has a balcony overlooking street. Staff speaks fluent English. Bike is parked in courtyard of sister hotel a few doors down.
- Lesley (10/5): - Hotel immaculately clean, rooms comfortable and very helpful staff
- Alannah (10/5): - Enjoyed a fabulous stay at Relais du Pré. Room was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. Bed was super comfortable. Location was awesome and staff was very helpful. Would stay again!
- Amr (8/5): - Excellent. Room came with very good space, the bed was comfortable, very good bathroom and excellent location close to gare Du Nord. My only problem was with cleaning the room as they came late in the afternoon while I was back in the room, should come earlier while most people are out on the street. Other than that, excellent value per Buck
- Christopher (8/5): - Very well located in Paris for public transportation and it is also close to a multitude of restaurants and other attractions. The price is great for the room you get.
- anthony (8/5): No frills, just the basics - Relais du Pre was closed due to Covid-19 and I was referred to Residence du Pre, which was across the street. The service was very accommodating. The receptionists were knowledgeable, friendly and certainly get a high approval rating from me. Continental breakfast was served, not a buffet. The freshly brewed coffee was something to rave about.
The facilities need some work. My room's woodwork needed touch-up paint. There was no air conditioning. And the elevator was smaller than a phone booth.
All in all, after being there for four nights, I would return. The location was ideal; a 20 minute walk to Sacre Cour, Gare du Nord, Gare du Est and many restaurants and cafes. I felt at home.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - My flight to France was cancelled, so I didn't use the hotel room, can not say anything about it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff very helpful and friendly
Clean and comfortable bedrooms. looked like bathroom and toilet had been refurbished.
Not far from metro.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good central location. Staff very friendly. Nice rooms.
- Juliana (10/5): - Excellent location, staff and rooms. Rooms are clean and staff is absolutely welcoming. Certainly recommend!
- Jyrki (10/5): Nice stay at Relais du Pré - Despite the strike in France everything worked smooth and they managed to find me a taxi in a difficult situation. I will definitely come back again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Of the 8 hotels we stayed at in France, this one was one of the most expensive, but at the same time, one of the most basic little rooms. Functional and clean, with elevator. Nice staff. Free Beaujolais and snacks in the lobby since we were there at the time of the new Beaujolais release.
- Tesy (10/5): - It was very nice, staff was super cordial and attentive and it is conveniently located closed to public transportation. I did enjoy my staying.
- Curtis (10/5): - Perfect for our trip. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the place was always clean and refreshing. Note to other Americans: it is small and do your research on French bathing habits. Over all we were very happy with it as somewhere to rest our heads and refreshed before a quick walk to the metro to explore Paris!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staffs were kind and accommodating. Our room was always clean. The hotel was convenient and was near almost everything. metros and buses are just minutes away. Garu de Nord was 10 min on foot as well as Montmartre 15 min. I would definitely recommend this hotel most especially for couples or families.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property was in a good location. Unfortunately our room didn’t look exactly like the photographs. The photos must be of only the higher priced rooms. Our room decor was a lot older and not as clean looking as the photographs. Our room also had a faint smell of stale feet for some reason even though the window was always open.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - good place to stay close to center , excellent service
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff is very nice and helpful. The room is small but serve it's purpose.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent & friendly staff, great service & food, hotel is lovely & ideal location. Highly recommended to all.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a nice hotel close to mass transit stations. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The room were clean and nice. I would definitely use it again.
- Espinosa (8/5): - excellent location definitely recommended
- Nosaj (8/5): - Close to lots of restaurants and bistros. Metro was 2 minute walk away.
Found the bath/shower was somewhat narrow and it was not enclosed which made using the shower a bit awkward. At least the shower was flexible so it was easy to move around
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location of this hotel is great for exploring everything Paris has to offer. There's a bus and Metro stop a short walk from the hotel.
It's clean and the staff were wonderful and friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I like location near mrt poissonneire
more restaurant .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was really pretty quiet central and just the perfect place
- Verified traveler (8/5): Paris - Convenient location with friendly front desk staff. Bathtub didn’t come with a shower curtain. Balcony view was awesome and the double pane windows blocked out noises from the streets. Thin walls though, so you can hear your neighbors.
- Carol (10/5): - Very modern rooms. Nice little hotel on a side street yet close to main roads. The rooms appear to be different shapes and layout. Ours had a window in front and back for a wonderful cross breeze. The main daytime desk clerk was so nice and helpful. However we came "home" around 2 am and front door was locked. We knocked for about 5 minutes, deciding we would try to get a hotel room close by. Leaving we saw a small unmarked buzzer panel. I pushed a variety of buttons and heard a ring. Desk clerk came and let us in, appearing to have been asleep. They should have informed us about the buzzer. Now that I know about it, I would definitely stay here again.
- Senda (2/5): - Very low quality, no air-conditioning was terrible at 85+ degree, very small rooms. I would expect better stay for 3 star hotel. II had to leave the hotel asap.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Hotel, Good Location - Nice hotel, was clean. Not “fancy” but was comfortable and had everything we needed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Basic room, but in a noisy area. Staff were excellent
- K (6/5): Clean hotel - Hotel room was very clean, the shower was very difficult to use. Lift in the building. Hotel is situated in a pleasant area and the bus no 42 takes you into Paris quickly
- K (2/5): Construction!!! - The room above us was under construction, which the hotel staff did not bother to warn us about and only after much complaint decided to move us to a slightly quieter room. Terrible service.
- Mun Keong (10/5): Convenient Hotel - This is a decent hotel, not too expensive and not too far from the train station. They allowed us to keep our luggage at the hotel when we arrived early, which is good. The room is adequate for a short stay and good value for money. It is about 10 minutes walk to the Louvre, the covered markets and the famous Bouillon Chartier restaurant.
- Meera (8/5): Nice clean hotel - Nice cosy and clan room & bathroom. The location is good and in proximity with Gare du nord and Cadet station.
Found it safe and good to recommend.
There were some maintenance works going on due to which there was a strong paint smell in the corridors.
More options in the Breakfast buffet could be added as its very basic according to me.
Staff was helpful & courteous.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location near to Gare du Nord. Nice rooms, breakfast good.
- Richard (8/5): close to the gare du nord - The room and hotel were clean. It is a typical Parisian hotel room so it is simple and small. The breakfast was discounted to 7 euros which is a good deal. It is not far from the gare du nord train station and can easily be walked to from the hotel. There is a nice little street for restaurants called the Rue Cadet which is not far from the hotel.
- chris (8/5): Good value hotel - Staff were very helpful, room was small but clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Affordable hotel in great location - The hotel is located within 5 mins walk from 2 metro stations. Its very affordable, clean and the stuff are very friendly. Definitely recommended.
- Brianne (8/5): Lovely stay in paris - First time in Paris and it was a lovely trip. Hotel was quietly and clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): If you need a room to just sleep in for the night - You get what you pay for and if you just need a room to store your luggage and crash for the night, this place will do. Close enough to most places as we didn't even take the metro most days and just walked. Room had a very musty smell though
- Mike (8/5): Nice hotel - Relais du pre is a nice hotel for the price with 2 metro stations
Within 5mins of each other. Lots of very nice restaurants nearby.Gar du nord is no more than a 10-15mins walk.overall a very nice experience and will stay there again.
- Paul (8/5): A pleasant area, within walking distance of Gare d - A mostly quiet hotel situated in a quiet street. If you travel from Gare du Nord along Rue Maubege, take note of the shops and cafes that you may want later.
Take a few steps downhill from the hotel to Montholon park and Rue La Fayette (with plenty of cafes and restaurants, and the Cadet metro station).
If you like walking, Montmartre is not too far away. It is uphill to get there, but worth the effort.
- JC (2/5): Loud noises 24/7 - I would not suggest this hotel unless you can sleep through all noises. The balcony doors do nothing to muffle outside sounds. You can hear every single car go down the street. Upon first glance, you would think this is a quiet street, BUT it actually gets a ton of vehicle traffic at every hour even 3AM. Also, there is constant construction going on right next door. The drilling begins very early so there's no chance to sleep in. Beyond that, the elevator makes horrendous noises too. You can hear and feel the elevaror everytime it passes your floor. The best way for me to describe it is a prolonged grinding sound mixed with space warp sounds.
Upon check in, the man at the front desk told us we were to leave the key with them as there is no spare. Both my traveling partner and I decided to hold onto our key the 2nd day as we elected to resuse our towels for an additional day. We were surprised when we returned that day to find maid service had indeed entered our room to make it up. I am glad I did not leave any valuables around. Furthermore, on our 3rd day, a cleaning lady entered our room when I was still in bed sleeping!
All in all, I would not recommend this hotel. I do not usually post reviews even in a negative experience. However, in light of the lack of recent reviews for this hotel, I decided to make sure no future travelers suffer as I have. There are similarly priced hotels that provide much more comfort than the Relais Du Pre.
- Wendy (6/5): Nice quiet area, walk to Metro and shop. Near park - We had a pleasant stay at this quaint hotel. It was very clean and the staff was very helpful.. The room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. We felt safe during our stay at this location.
- Day (8/5): Nice hotel, close to public transportation - Very smooth registration. Very accommodating... gave me a electric tea pot so I can boil water and make tea in my room. 1 block away from the train. And 9 min away walking from Gare du Nore. Where you can get the euro star train to go to London. Or catch the train to the airport.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Didn't actually stay in this hotel, got there to be told we actually had a room in one of their other hotels across the road so had to walk up the street with our cases in pouring rain, they had obviously overbooked the hotel we actually booked.
However staff were friendly and helpful and the location was good, close to a metro station and not far from one of the main train stations where the Eurostar departs.
- Francesco (8/5): conveniently located, friendly staff, very clean
- We will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and we will try and stay at this hotel again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely hotel - immaculately clean. welcoming staff - We had a lovely stay here. The staff were always happy to help. Breakfast was tasty. Room was a little warm and could have done with a fan but I am sure they would have provided it had we got round to asking. Would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok Hotel - I liked the location (although many places were closed on Sunday). The hotel itself was just OK. We were there during an unexpcted heatwave in June. I wish there had been at least a fan in the room. Even though the neighborhood was quiet, the apartment building across from our room was loud and because it was hot everyone had their windows open. It was very difficult to fall asleep.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient, no fuss hotel - Very friendly lady on reception, clean comfortable room. A quiet, no nonsense hotel. Worth noting: they have a couple of hotels on the same road, so make sure you enter the right one. They are all "___ du Pré" so you can tell by checking that first name.
- esan (6/5): Basic hotel without aircon n its hell noisy - Its clean and provides basic facilities, good budget hotel for a one nite stay. My bad that didnt find out it doesnt come with AC and the street is noisy all nite AND construction workers start to work at the NEXT building as early as 8am. Its a reli bad experience for me as i wish a good sleep for a long haul flight the day after. Easy access to grocery n restaurant btw.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There is no A/C in the room, and the room and facilities are old. Even though the bath and toilet rooms seem remodeled recently, the design is not convenient.
- Ting (10/5): - All is satisfied except that Wi-fi is not so good
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I speak French and used to live in Paris so I didn't need much from the front desk, etc. overall, it was a great stay and the staff is polite. Again, I didn't have much interaction with them.
- GMR (10/5): Cute hotel, great location - Cute room. We had a view and love to open the shutters in the morning and let the breeze in. Walking distance to train station as well as many cafes, restraunts and shops. Park in walking distance as well, nice spot to relax. Short walk to Rue la Fayette a main street. Carpool Uber to Eiffel tower and downtown around $5-10. Would stay again , great location.
- Christopher (4/5): Customer Service Not The Greatest - Ok for a budget hotel but I was NOT impressed with two of the staff members. The guy working when I checked in kept giving me dirty looks because I arrived a little early and decided to wait in the lobby area until my room was ready. I was told by this same individual that I still owed a city tax for each night of my stay that wasn't included in my booking. That's fine, I gladly paid the money the day before I checked out. However, the morning I checked out the guy working forced me to pay this fee again. I tried explaining to him several times that I had already paid the day before but he refused to believe me and started swearing at me in French. Since I had a train to catch at Gare du Nord and needed him to open the front door so I could leave I just paid again and got the heck out of there. NOT impressed at all with either of those two gentlemen.
- Verified traveler (8/5): clean hotel, very friendly - Very nice staff. Exceptionally clean room. Neighborhood family friendly but a little run-down. Easy access to busses and trains.
- Ryder's (10/5): Love the neighborhood ! - The hotel staff were friendly and easy to communicate with, the beds were exceptionally comfortable and ,the water pressure in the shower was fantastic . Loved having use of a heated towel rack! The hotel is in a perfect location for getting around town whether walking or by transit. Only wish our stay had been longer !
- Ed (8/5): Chic Hotel - The lady at the reception is adorable. She kindly offered to offer me a different room so me and my partner will sleep comfortable (because the booking was made for 1 person I only received a double twin room)
- Jon (6/5): Basic hotel Good for a short break - Ok hotel for a short break, close to metro and 10 minutes from mainline railway. Rooms very basic but comfortable bed and Wi-Fi good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rate was good. The staff was excellent and the room was very clean.
- M3nJL (8/5): Hotel is well located, apartment style. - The staff were great, helpful and friendly. The $e 7 breakfast was a great value, but no eggs, no big deal six places within two blocks for that. Of course you do get the toilet in a separate "room" from the bathroom which h is due to the layout as these rooms are all in a old apartment building. I am a habitual hand washer after using the can so bit of an inconvenience there. They should have a tiny sink there for that reason. Also it would have been nice to have a fridge in the room to keep at least the water many of us like to drink overnight cool or to be able to buy six packs to save. But hey you are in Paris there is a place that will sell you cold water open somewhere close and like I said it is Paris, you should d not be spending time in your room wit all there is to see in that great city. We did not even turn the tv on. They had USB plug ins for your phones so unless you need some other device charges like my slr battery, no need to bring a converter. Bottom line, well located clean place, and comfy!
- Martin (6/5): - The service was good, good breakfast, but very noisy area.
There were renovations next to us. The walls are thin and you hear everything in street, from above you and next to you.
- Sach (8/5): Great location and very comfortable - Very good overall experience - great location, comfortable room and staff very friendly.
- Gillian (10/5): Lovely hotel in quiet street. - Hotel situated an easy 10 minute walk to Opera shopping district in one direction and Sacre Coeur in the other. Rooms extremely clean and appeared to be recently decorated. Rooms and ensuite very spacious. Friendly staff and good variety for breakfast.
- Pinaki (10/5): Good value and convenient location - Staff were friendly, informative and helpful,
The room on the third floor was comfortable and well equipped.
Good base for a sort stay in Paris
- remyk (8/5): Very good budget hotel. - Our 4 nights there have been a good experience. Great location, simple, clean. Great staff. Good breakfast.
A good place.
- Flo (10/5): Nice and close to tube station! - Very clean hotel and recently renewed.
Our room was cozy, good size. The bathroom was new with a large shower.
Excellent quality for the price!
We didn't try breakfast.
- Ed (10/5): 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 - Happy with the hotel and my room. Very central for the money I payed. The room was clean as well as the facilities. All the members of staff were nice and polite. I could leave my bag after I checked out and it seemed secure.
I would visit against.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel close to metro - As a solo female traveller I was worried about where I would be staying but I am so happy that I chose to stay at Relais du Pre. You get a comfy hotel room with a bathroom for the price that you pay and it is so close to so many restaurants as well as 2 metro stations (3/4 mins walking distance). The neighbourhood felt safe even in the evenings, and the hotel staff were incredibly helpful and friendly!
- Senior Citizen (8/5): Clean, comfortable, quiet, near Gare du Nord - I took pot luck on this hotel, mainly because it is very near Gare du Nord (for Eurostar). A ten minute walk. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. Our room on the 5th floor was newly refurbished. Bathroom was also new with quality fittings. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful in giving advice to a stranger to Paris and sorting out a personal problem on our arrival. Breakfast was basic but adequate and value for money. Tables were nicely laid out and service was good. Overall I felt comfortable about staying at this hotel. I thought it was good value.
- Boo (10/5): Nice hotel near the station - Helpful staff clean comfy rooms newly refurbished
- lamoment (8/5): Lovely hotel at central Paris. - I had spent a weeks here and it was so lucky that my rooms has a small little belcony without my expectation.
Rooms are clean, simple and nice atmosphere. Bathroom are clean with bathtub isn't perfect? Price are good with the location which I can't describe how convenient with this hotel location.
Most I like about the hotel was quiet enough for me to just have a comfortable sleep with their magic bed.
There's a little public park beside the hotel. It was the place I chilled with the nature and the lovely children playground. Sounds of trees and kids, what you think?
I'm highly recommended everyone for this hotel reasons good price with nice environment. Close to all major attractions and most importantly be a wise traveler.
