Guest Reviews
- Rebecca (10/5): - They were very friendly and the room was clean, comfortable, and large (for Paris).
- Judith (6/5): - The rooms were ok but my room lacked tea making facilities which my friends room had the receptionist said that the other room was an upgrade - the rooms were the same so it was a poor excuse.
- Dominique (8/5): - Very good quality 3 star hotel and very convenient for Gare Nord
- Tracy (6/5): - When I checked in, I was given a room that smelled horrible. The bathroom smelled very sour and pungent like it was cleaned with a dirty rag. I never request to change rooms when I travel but I felt it was necessary this time. The room was also a lot smaller than expected with no soap or anything in the bathroom. Luckily the receptionist was able to help me switch rooms and it was much better. The new room was a little bigger and perfectly clean. I think the price of the room was a little higher than the value but I guess it was about average for the area.
- Ian (10/5): - Staff was friendly, attentive and extremely helpful.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - No air conditioning
- Roger (4/5): - Small and cramped. Staff friendly and property clean, breakfast provided was exceptionally poor. Not as advertised in addition to building work being carried out this too was not advertised. Area is unsafe, dark and male dominated streets and cafe bars.
- Sara (8/5): decent stay - We booked the room for a quick stay near Gare du Nord. It is located in a shady area and was scary to walk to at night, but overall was a decent stay. The room was not very big, but was just enough space to move around. The bathroom was a decent size. They offered us breakfast, and then informed us that it was not included in our reservation and wanted to charge us 27 euros. This was very confusing as it was not clearly communicated. The staff was overall very nice and helpful, so if you're looking for a cheap, clean, and convenient quick stay I think this is fine.
- Robert (8/5): - Nice size room with shower. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable about the area (gave us a great recommendation for dinner). Wonderful buffet breakfast. Excellent location for getting around Paris on the Metro.
- DANTE (10/5): - Great customer service
- Julien (8/5): - I like the property quietness, cleaned and staffs.are very welcoming.
- Jeannie (6/5): Area not save… - The hotel was close to train station and metro, but it’s very crowded and shady area. Very noisy at night.
The staffs were very friendly and the house keeping did a great job cleaning our rooms. Didn’t have any AC cause it wasn’t hot enough, and I couldn’t leave the window open cause I too noisy so it made it uncomfortable in the evening to sleep.
- Ho Yin Henry (8/5): - Location was superb, neighborhood wise it’s not exactly the best, and expect noises and screams from the streets at night. Staff were helpful, room/bathroom was clean and nice, but rather small
- Stephen (10/5): - A few minutes from Guard du Nord, pleasant helpful staff.
- Glen (10/5): Recommended - The hotel is extremely close to Gare du Nord and was perfect for my two night stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was modern and very clean. The bathroom was efficient and the water pressure good. The rooms are on the small side but good for a Parisian hotel. I would happily stay here again.
- Linda (8/5): - Good hotel with decent staff.
- Deborah (8/5): - Easy
- Verified traveler (10/5): Ignore the bad reviews. - This hotel was a great find! Clean, comfy and was very close to the station if you’re needing that. I travel often and this place was ideal for myself and would be perfect for a couple.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was warm, the bed was comfy and the bathroom clean. Ignore the bad reviews!
- Melanie (6/5): - Overall it was good. It was close to both stations. Please note the room is quite small so you can’t really move around. You can also hear noises outside. The sensor lights in the lobby take forever to turn on. So yiu will be in the dark for a few mins. I didn’t like it. I felt like I was in a horror movie. Lastly, I’ve noticed I’ve been itching my legs and arms since I left the hotel. Check for bedbugs!!!
- Chi Wai Ivan (8/5): - Very clean and good facilities like a big tv
Very convenient as 5 minute walk to train station (either north or east)
- Tamara (6/5): - Good location
- Lucy (10/5): - Clean, comfortable food. Very close to the station
- Chaker (8/5): - Excellent location and almost the best between Gare de l’Est - Gare du Nord
Nice property clean and confortable
- Chaker (10/5): - Excellent Hôtel
- elizabeth (10/5): Cute hotel by main station. - Hotel was fantastic!! Loved the water cooler in the lobby. Beds were comfy and usb ports by the beds. Couple minutes walk to Gare du Nord train station. Bakery around the corner Maison Bayont is amazing!! If you want wine in your room, they do stop selling in that area after 5pm. Busy area with people trying to sell cigarettes on the corner but always felt safe even at night.
- Ashish (10/5): Great for Gare Du Nord - Comfy, quiet room very close to Gare Du Nord. Staff were lovely and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lili - Loved having noise insulated room and not hearing the busy street noises. Neighborhood seems to be so so but the hotel felt very safe with 24h desk staff. Room was clean and bed very comfortable.
- Martin (8/5): - Not in a particularly nice part of Paris but the hotel was convenient for Gare du Nord and Eurostar
- Claire (10/5): Highly recommended - The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble from every single member of staff. Rooms were soundproof from the street and neighbouring rooms. Highly recommended.
- Edwin (10/5): - The area is a little intimidating but not bad, close to the train station
- Suwai (8/5): - Its near to the Train train
- Sandra (8/5): - The hotel was so pleasing, warm and welcoming. Staff at the front desk went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Upgrading us to a larger suite because we had arrived in Paris on a 5:00 am flight and check in was 2:00 pm. Breakfast every morning was lovely.
The glitch…..we truly felt unsafe in the area. The hotel is located close to Gare du Nord. Which I’m sure is great for travellers using the train system. Dining out in the evening was not an option, and choice’s extremely limited….we had to walk more than three blocks to find a suitable restaurant…..and we aren’t fussy people. If you are looking for a true Parisienne experience this is not the location…..if you are looking for accommodations close to the train stations then I recommend Hotel Appia.
- Jacques (6/5): - Clean rooms
But price too high
Aerea horrible
- Monica (8/5): - Our room was small but everything seemed pretty new, very clean. Everything worked. We were on the street side, so it was a little noisy, a little crowd talking late into the night. But I wore my earplugs, daughter tuned them out, and we were fine. It's about two blocks from Gare de Nor, a giant train station where you can catch several Metro trains as well as regional trains like the one to CDG airport. It feels very midtown Manhattan, like this is where people work. But that was kind of interesting, too. Check-in was great, staff so nice. Very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel and the workerd at the hotel exceeded expectations and were fantastic. The only issues we had was with the area outside the hotel. The streets by the Gare Du Nord were covered in trash, graffiti, and homeless people who approached us multiple times asking for money.
Once in the hotel, the experience was fantastic. But sepping in the area immedistely outside was at times uncomfortable.
- KADIATU (6/5): Unsatisfied - The bed was so uncomfortable. The bed moves. The hotel has no sound proof. The heating system was poor.
- Barry C (10/5): Best 3star Hotel in Paris - We can truly say it was the nicest hotol of itclass we have stayed in Paris .the room was big the bathroom was tiled and modern fittings in it also very clean .good lift to all floors . The staff so helpful and no charge for leaving our bags for the day .what a lovely hotel 9 out of ten well done hotel Appia La Fayette Barry Daphne Farrell
- Cristina (4/5): Disappointed - I met the young male receptionist when I came in and first he could not find my bookings. But he finally
Did after a while. I went to my room and it smelled cigarette. I came down to complain and he said I have been too long in the room and he would not change it. Luckily the nice lady manager came and gave me a new nice smelling room
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a wonderful property and so close to the Champs Elysee. We stayed in a standard room which was small, but very pretty and Parisian. The staff were helpful and welcoming and breakfast was tasty. Only one small complaint - the room was very warm and we couldn’t seem to adjust the temperature using the cooling thermostat (I’d say it is centrally controlled). We were able to open the doors to the balcony which helped, but it wasn’t ideal. We will definitely return though we would likely book the executive room for the added space if it was going to be an extended stay. Highly recommend.
- Em (6/5): - If you're looking for a good location, close to gare du nord - this is it! That's pretty much one of the only reasons I would want to stay here. Besides that, the hotel check-in was easy; the room itself is not very big at all - but I've heard this about most Paris hotel rooms. The washroom was okay - you could kind of see the grime in the corners of the tiles, etc. but otherwise - clean. This was literally a hotel room we used for less than 18 hours, mostly for transit. They do have wifi. Looks better in the photos than in person though so careful!
- Verified traveler (6/5): I was all going well until... - I stayed at this hotel with my friend for a weekend trip. Its a modernly decorated small hotel with good access to central paris via train and underground. The rooms are cleanand bedding is change on a daily basis. There were a few issues with our stay:
The room we were put in had a very small window which made the room seem dark without any lights. Therefore the photos did not reflect the true nature of the different types of rooms you could end up with. The hotel is located in quiet a sketchy area, so I would suggest to be extra vigilant especially at night.
Some staff were nice however there were 2 incidents with staff that made me feel uncomfortable to stay there:
The first was when I ask the individual at the reception for 1 tea and 1 hot chocolate and then said it again to confirm it, He then made 2 teas. He then said to me that i asked for 2 teas and he refused to change the order (he got incorrect)unless I paid for that extra tea and the hot chocolate. I don’t understand why I would have to pay for something i didn’t ask for.
The second incident was at breakfast (i had paid for the night before), I walked down for breakfast and signed the sheet I was told to do previously. As I was selecting what to eat, an employee came in with her hands folded speaking French and it seems like we were being told off and spoken down to (shown through her body language). When another couple walked in, she greeted them and asked politely. I felt like We were not treated the same.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to Gare de Nord. Friendly staff. Speak English . Good breakfast available
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location near train station. Room had large bathroom and great air conditioning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely hotel very close to the train stations. Very pleasant and helpful staff. However, the area is not very safe so if you are a girl travelling alone choose a safer area...
- Mark (8/5): - Very convenient for the two Paris stations. Small room but expected at the price. Nice breakfast.
- Ben (4/5): - This hotel doesn’t have tea/coffee set in the room. No iron in the room
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A very clean room. Very friendly staff. Would recommend
- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean rooms, excellent service. For a 1-3 day trip - It’s was a good hotel to stay at for a short trip. It was extremely clean when we arrived and our room was cleaned throughout our trip. However the room was very dark with only 1 ceiling light and the outside traffic could be heard throughout the night. Also our safe broke one morning and we could not access our money for 2 hours delaying our day, this was fixed by the hotel staff with apologies though. The bed was very hard and not very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - If you don't know about this area your first impression would be a bit scary as it looked pretty sketchy rough area. However by the time we leave after 5 days we found out it isn't that bad as we thought. Gare de nord is literary just a few minutes away from the hotel by walking and metro is also very close. Lots of restaurants of course. However we wished we stayed a bit nicer area as it was noisy. Also the facilities aren't updated. Hallway is dark and smelly. Noises from other rooms and hallways wasn't pleasant. Then again it's Paris after all.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely helpful staff. Near Gare du Nord. Good, small room.
- DW (8/5): - Hotel was updated and modern. Very clean room and lobby. Quiet , small rooms and nice bathroom. Friendly staff in the day. Close to metro station. Will stay here again. Neighborhood was busy with lots of cafes and eateries.
- Ali (8/5): - The hotel has a very good location if you would like to stay within 3 minutes walking distance from train station and tube. Excellent connection to city center from stations close to hotel. Room was extremely small. Good for 2 nights. If you are considering longer visit then check if they have bigger rooms available. Breakfast served in this hotel will offer you a choice of cheese, yogurt, jam, honey, cereals, white baguette, croissants and some eggs. Fresh vegetable or fruit is missing. 2 out of 3 receptionist were absolutely great and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great value for the money. Very clean room and comfortable beds.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Location Location Location - Steps away both to Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est which means easy access to a multitude of public transit lines. Had to keep the window open at night since room was hot, but was annoyed by the noise from passing pedestrians and cars into the wee hours of the night.
- Claire (8/5): - Day time reception staff were great, but over night staff not so much. A real struggle getting checked in late/at night.
Breakfast was good and the rooms were really comfy.
- Adelene (8/5): - The hotel itself was fine but the local area is not very nice. It is very close to a large train station that takes iou anywhere in Paris and Cafe Richard was a 2 minute walk on the way to the train station...delicious pastries with friendly service.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient and great location - Excellent location. Room was clean and nice.
- James (10/5): Perfect base to explore the city. - Hotel is great if you’re just looking for a base of operations to explore the city. Really close to Gare Du Nord station, and therefore easily accessible from CDG Airport. Local area not particularly nice, but easy to get to the nicer areas of Paris.
Room was clean, comfortable and staff were very helpful.
- Candy (8/5): Too few amenities - We choose this hotel because of the good location. It is right near the Gare de Nord and Gare de East, very convenient to travel around. However, the room is quite small and not many amenities offered in room. The hotel staff are very nice.
- Reek (6/5): Hotel near metro station Gard du Nord - Stayed 4 nights here. Check in/out was fast. Rooms looks similar to pics given. But they are really very small. There is hardly any space to walk around. Bathroom was comparatively bigger. Everything was clean and comfortable. But there is hardly any amentities given. There is only one dispenser for shower and 1soap given. No glass given to keep your toothbrush. They give plastic cups which are not good for holding anything upright. I expected much more from this hotel by seeing the photos and price. It’s a decent place as it’s well connected to airport by metro. Lots of eats around and market. Breakfast was more expensive than what we paid in Italy and Spain so we skipped it. But I doubt whether it would be worth paying that amount. Breakfast can be easily availed in walking distances nearby. Size of the rooms and dark lighting were the only issues I faced.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient - Worked for us. Breakfast was not worth the extra.
- Greg (8/5): Location - Great location, fantastic pancake restaurant round the corner on the canal
- rapinder (8/5): - very well located , close to garre du nord , just about 3 minutes walk . loads of restaurants around for food selection ...
- Michael (6/5): So-So. - The hotel was nice and convenient for the Eurostar, which was the reason to stay there. It is however not in the nicest area, but it was safe. The staff were not overley helpful, but my French was limited which can be an issue. I would next time pay a bit more and stay closer in despite losing the closeness to Gare Du Nord.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient Hotel for Paris - Hotel is close to Gare du Nord, so very easy to access metro and trains to all parts of Paris.
The hotel room we had - largest size in the hotel was fine, well decorated and clean, the bathroom was in good order and serviced quite wel during our stay, and the air conditioning was effective and not noisy.
Suprisingly the room was quiet for Paris, even though the street outside was very busy during the day and evening it quietened down at night.
On the downside there are a huge number of street people and beggars in the area with drink / drugs issues, who are a bit off putting - so we were cautious about security especially at night. This meant I was carrying my lap top all of the time as I wasn't keen to leave it anywhere.
I would stay here again, but I would b esure to leave some thisngs at home to avoid carying them all the time.

- Janie (6/5): Nice hotel in lively area - Comfortable room. Hotel provides free luggage room too which is very helpful.
Smell of drains in bathroom.
- Cynthia (8/5): - Surprisingly quiet considering how close it is to train station. Very convenient.
- Rollo (10/5): - The area around the train station is a bit tattered, but this hotel was very nice.
- Paul (8/5): - The hotel was conveniently located to the Gare du Nord train station. Very welcoming and accommodating staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful hotel small but cute - Once again beautiful small but close to everything not the greatest looking area but still full of beautiful old buildings and such a short walk to some amazing places to eat I would 110% go back there and stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient recently renovated hotel - Great location coming in from the airport or grand lignes late at night. Rooms were comfortable with excellent black out curtains and a good shower. Would definitely recommend
- Julie (8/5): Convenient location and comfortable - Close to Gare du Nord, this hotel was a short 5 minute walk from there. Room was nice and modern. Bathroom was really nice.
- A (8/5): - Perfectly nice hotel - obviously it’s not luxurious but if you need something basic it was clean and good for what it is. We stayed here for our final night in Paris to be closer to Gare de Nord early in the morning. Only took us two minutes to walk there! Staff were very friendly. Nice view! Actually, a nicer view than the 5 star hotel we’d come from! Would stay again for the same purpose.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Experience - From 5 days me and my aunt stayed here, the one and only lift is not worked for 2 days. So we used stairs to go to our room in 3rd floor and vice versa. So disappointed 😒 but overall the service and location is so good!
- Kevin (10/5): Good hotel near Gare du Nord - Overall the hotel is good. The location is good, very close to Gare du Nord, and the hotel inside is comfort.
- Charlie (6/5): - Apart from being really small was ok. They said air conditioner was not turned on as it was not yet summer but temp was 28 °C,week we stayed in april 2018. Area is also run down so suggest hotel away from Gare de nord. Breakfast was poor and little choice.
- Oscar (2/5): A Nightmare! - The area around the hotel is very dangerous. You feel afraid to go out and walk at night thinking that you might get robbed. Very noisy area, all you here is police sirens all the time. Worst experience ever!! Im so disappointed!
- Verified traveler (10/5): A great and convenient stay in Paris - We loved the proximity of the hotel to Gare du Nord. We love the canal area in general. There are great restaurants nearby. Our check in was friendly and smooth. Our room was comfortable. The mattress was excellent, as were the linens. As close as we were to the train stations, our room was quiet. We slept very well here. The room had a large television and a decent sized bathroom. Ladies, there was a good hairdryer (not that square thing that some European hotels have). The room was a good size for Paris. The wifi could be faster, but it did work. It was a few dollars more than I usually spend on hotels in Paris, but well worth it. We will definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and comfortable hotel near 2 major train sta - Nice hotel with great location. Close to 2 train station, one going straight to the airport. Funny characters around the area at night making it not the safest. But overall worth staying.
- James L (8/5): Good value and transit connections - Hotel is located between the Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est making it a good economical homebase for a Paris stay with easy connections to the airport and other European cities between the two gares. The airport is 30 mins away via a RER-B train (10,30 EUR at time of writing).
The area is decent for food, lots of fast food kebab shops, cafes, and brasseries, although I did see a few Indian and African places. For anything else besides food, you'll need to take the Metro/Bus/RER somewhere else.
The room was a bit basic and small but serviceable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice and Clean hotel - Nice bath room and bed. Very convenient area and many shop opens on Sunday.
Hotel staff was helpful.
Regarding the location (nothing to do with Hotel, hotel is very nice), if you are first time in Paris specially female, you might feel a bit insecure in some street nearby. But as soon as you speak with hotel staff then they will give you good advice and make sure that you feel safer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent hotel near Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est - Hotel is walking distance to Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est so it is convenient to travel out. Wifi is good. Breakfast is decent but not great. Surrounding area is not the best but that is expected for a hotel near a train station.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel. Just not a great location unless you need to be at Gate du Nord
- x (4/5): Close to gare du nord 3 star hotel - Overall experience - okay with a slight dissappontment. Walls are thin so can hear a person next door busting a nut . Dont expect any extras - no cotton pads no cotton buds , no kettle or teas .. just basics - wall window and bed . Room was very small. The receptionist was absolutely lovely . If you are traveling with kids or alone - avoid , as gare du nord is an absolute ghetto and the area around hotel doesnt feel safe at all. Overall price for 2 nights was €214, in my opinion this should be priced for €100 tops.
- Di (8/5): Reasonable - Very small room, shower wall was angled so not comfortable for a tall person. The bath was quite high, nothing to hold on to whilst getting in and out, not safe for elderly people.
Bed was comfortable, great to have a safe to store our passports. Also it was good that there is a lift.
I'm sure we were told at check in that breakfast was €11 per person. When we checked out, we were told that breakfast was actually €16 per person. So €10 per day more.
There was a great choice at breakfast.
- Alicia (8/5): Easy access to and fro CDG - Great location near the train station. Lovely hotel though the neighborhood is a little run down.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Impression - Hotel staff helpful and pleasant. Area was not where I would feel safe particularly at night. Mattress on bed could do with replacing. It was compressed with continual use on one side giving the feeling you were going to fall out. Turned it around and it was better. Needs to have a rubber mat for use on bath bottom when showering as it was slippery when wet.
- Jackie (8/5): Ok - Overall the hotel was kept up. Finding someone else's panties in the room was why I rated it so bad. They were next to the suitcase holder. Just a mistake for the person who lost them. Hard spot for house keeping to see.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good Value - Hotel is fine. Neighborhood is slightly seedy but good supermarket, bakery, subway, and train all within 5 minutes walk.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I booked this hotel because of its proximity to Gare du Nord and Gare de L'Est. It is very convenient to get to both stations. However, unsurprisingly, the neighborhood is not very nice. I saw police officers interrogating someone on the side of the street. It did not feel like the safest area of Paris. But we didn't have any problems, and the convenience was worth it for us!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel - Located across the road from gard du nord
Sometimes noisy at night
- Verified traveler (8/5): Value for the money - Stayed here for 4 nights, great location close to the major station and shopping .. the room was very small but clean. This is good hotel for people who is in the budget.
- Donna (8/5): Great location - pleasant room - rude staff - The hotel is well situated between Garne du Nord and Garne de L'est. The rooms are comfortable and decent sized, for Paris. The breakfast is a joke, and definitely not worth the high price of 16 Euros. Head to La Catrina, right around the corner, and have a wonderful omelet and café’ then take the metro anywhere in the city. The staff was rude and unresponsive, even though I speak French. But overall, I’d stay there again, and just not deal with the staff any more than necessary.
- Neil (6/5): - Reasonable hotel, dreadful area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Accommodations were comfortable. Breakfast was adequate. Surrounding area was not near the sights in the city. Very busy and noisy at night. Two train stations were nearby and that is how we got around.
- bjb (6/5): Adequate and near main line station for eurostar - Fair, no dining room for main meals, staff pleasant and helpful , but rather a dull spot. Excellent bistro up the road though
- Verified traveler (6/5): Overnighter only - Only good for an overnight stay while in-transit to be close to Gare du Nord or Gare de l'est. Noisy neighborhood, but with friendly staff.
- Sandy (8/5): Close to Gare du Nord - We stayed here because it was close to Gare du Nord station and we were only in Paris for one night. The hotel is good value for the reasonable price. Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was well equiped, a little small but that's quite normal in Paris.
- Shannon (10/5): Really good hotel for Paris - Very clean and comfortable room, very decent size for Paris, and great location for Gare du Nord et Gare de l'est. Very friendly staff as well.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotel in sketchy area - Everything was great about this hotel except for its location. Not a huge surprise given how close it is to Gare du nord but it felt quite unsafe walking back to the hotel at night from the station. Breakfast is a bit expensive at 16euros given the only hot items are scrambled eggs and veal sausage.. but convenient.
