• Frederick (8/5): - A very nice comfortable room with all the facilities up to a very high standard. Walking distance from Gare du Nord and all the major Paris attractions. Excellent value for money. Tourist tax was required to be paid in cash - I thought slightly odd that could not be paid by credit card which I have done in other hotels in Paris. Not a major issue though.
• Renate (6/5): - There is a very obtrusive smell in the common areas and hallways. Which was mentioned in other reviews. Upon entering oir room the smell seemed to fade. Until the bathroom door was opened. This new smell literally knocked you off your feet. There was a rotting log located in the bathroom ceiling with an indescribable horrid smell. Our whole family of 5 could not handle this. The cost of the room was quite expensive for our family of 5, there was no coffee or other free amenities available. The desk host was friendly and helped us find our way.

As an aircraft travel engineer, I get to travel a lot from work and never been SCAMMED like I did with this Hauteville Opera Hotel. In this case, I was in a family trip with children and we had to leave the hotel within couple hours of our arrival. The room doors DID NOT have any locks not even a safety chain. Bed sheets were dirty, smelled terrible, and the toilet was broken. THE HOTEL ROOMS DO NOT LOOK LIKE THE UPLOADED PHOTOS. Please do not make the same mistake that I did booking this terrible hotel. Please stay safe and please DO NOT take your children there, I KNOW what I'm telling you. 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

There was a lot of noise at night until early morning from the bar across the street which made it difficult to sleep. A few blocks away was little rough and felt unsafe especially with a family traveling with small children.

Malgré ces petits bémols nous avons passé un agréable séjour. Bon rapport qualité prix. Merci

• Ana M. (2/5): - I do not recommend at all. If you don't want to ruin your Vacation in Paris, you don't reserve at this hotel. The room looks like a cave, little and badly ventilated. I reserved it because it said that it had air conditioning and does not have it, it only has heating; So if you go in summer, you will die of heat. The service in the front desk is horrible. At the reception we were received by a young man who wore a open jacket without a shirt showing his chest without a minimum decorum, he gave us very bad impression. I have never lived an equal situation. It was definitely horrible.

I guess the only thing that they could improve on is to put something in the toilet to stop the water from getting out after a shower. Otherwise our overall experience was good for what we paid for.

• Verified traveler (2/5): Warning, stay away - The hotell is sub-par on every level. Firstly there is no sign outside so it is hard to find it. Odd reception with some kind of flower portal, looked really tacky. The elevator was shady with barely working buttons. Our room was tiny, filthy and smelled of mold and sewege. The beds were not cleaned and we found hair and stains on the sheets. No ventilation, only an ac unit that was so dirty that we did not dare to turn it on. Bathroom window could not be closed, severe noise from surrounding roofs etc made it hard to sleep. Bathroom was horrific and super tiny, sink was barely hanging on, showerhead was broken. Decor from late 1980’s, room door hard to open (old school key in 2023!) We paid 240Eur for one night, no refunds. I would recommend everyone to AVOID this ”hotel” it is at best a 1-star, not anywhere close to the 3 stars it currently has.

• Andreas (6/5): Fantastic service but a tired hotel - Had a fantastic warm welcoming under my check in, bigger hotels could learn from that😊. The room size was okay for 3 and a short stay but the condition of beds was not good, they where to old and uncomfortable. The bathroom had a leaking sink we reported the first day but they did not succeed to fix it. That is maybe just the charme of choosing a small family hotel. The area is fantastic and authentic, easy access with train and metro. If the rooms are heightened in quality, then we will come back😊
• Shahram (6/5): - The room was extremely small. You can’t sit on the toilet without heating your knee to the lavatory cabinet and can’t take a shower without hugging the shower curtain. No fridge or microwave. Good for short stay. Convenient access to subway and getting to main attractions in less than half an hour.

This hotel was one of the cheapest for a family of 4 on our chosen date in a great location so I was nervous how small or run down the place could be. It was a pleasant surprised that the room was renovated and pretty comfortable with AC.

• Georges (8/5): Perhaps not quite three star but still very nice - While this is shown as a three star hotel, it really is a two star (two and a half if it existed). I still enjoyed my stay there but the room was very small (pictures do a good job to make it appear larger than it really is). I was not in Paris to stay in my room so the size did not matter that much to me. Do not count on the TV to be a distraction: from the 30 channels or so, the reception on a dozen of those was very bad and all the others were in French (again not a big deal to me since I speak French). The room makes really good use of original stone walls , well integrated in the construction of the room. It is charming. Surprisingly, the hotel sits on a small street but the traffic was heavy and the noise level, especially scooters, make it impossible to open windows in the evening. Fortunately, AC worked well. I would recommend to find a room in the upper levels. However the hotel was very well located between walking distance of three subway stations, across from a great bakery I used for croissants, espressos and fresh sandwiches and in a neighbourhood that while is not touristy still has a large number of conveniences: cafes, restaurants, bars, small grocery stores, etc. I also really like the personnel at the hotel: in one week I dealt with many: they were all helpful, putting up with my many questions.
• HENRY (8/5): - Just few points on the property, very nice location and the staff it’s very nice but the room was very different from the room on the pictures and also the air conditioner was not working properly and also the elevator was not on a very good shape, this are the only 3 aspects of the property that needs improvement…

• Bjorn (6/5): - Kamer was wel wat klein, geen last om kleren in de hangen en de badkamer was zeer klein als je in de douche stond moest er niemand aan de lavabo staan want die was ook gedoucht. De lavabo de kraan kon je in de 4 richtingen draaien en als je op de wc zat kon je amper draaien of keren. Maar het ontbijt was dan wel lekker en keuze genoeg.

It was hard to find accommodation for five people without splitting us up, so we appreciated the five person room. The bathroom was very clean and nicely decorated. The fridge and fruit tea bags were a lovely additional touch. Not fancy but excellent for what we needed.

• CKN (10/5): - We got two interconnected rooms with one main door for a family of 5, a really pleasant surprise in an overbooked city like Paris. The hotel is located conveniently in one of the best arrondissements (1oth) in the city, within walking distance from Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est, and several metro stations (e.g.. Bonne Nouvelle, Poissonniere, and a couple of others). The staff is very friendly and always ready to help. Though we didn't need to be served in English (because one of us speaks French well), we observed that the staff spoke enough English to help other residents who did not speak any French. I recommend it highly! I liked everything about it, especially the modest rate, too.

The name of the hotel is not visible from the outside, so we had difficulty to find it in dark in our first arrival. The hotel building is very old, the furniture, beds, etc are also old. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
• Nash (10/5): Nice hotel for a stay in Paris - We were a family of 5 traveling with a few younger children and were very pleased with this accommodation. The location is very convenient and close to a ton of restaurants, bars and other shops and is a couple minute walk from a couple of metro stops and about 10 minute walk from Gare du Nord rail station. The staff is very friendly and speak very good English. My only knock is the room was quite crammed for 5 people - really should have only fit 3. The wifi and AC worked well.
• Verified traveler (2/5): OK if you're one of the 7 dwarves!! - Tiny rooms (3mx4m), even for Paris standards. No privacy in bathrooms and takes a lot of work to take a shower due to limited space. A lot of issues with the WIFI.
• Verified traveler (4/5): Would not stay here. - I would not even give them 1 star except maybe for location. The tiny room looked and felt like a cave with stone on the walls. A stained and dirty bed/couch, a fan when they advertised air conditioning, a desk that tilted so everything slid off. The bathroom was also the shower stall so the whole bathroom was a puddle of water with a wet toilet seat when you finished! I had to put down towels or stand in a puddle of water to dry my hair and brush my teeth. The room smelled musty and mildewed. In addition I booked a quad room for 4 people and they gave us 2 rooms at opposite ends of the floor!

• Verified traveler (2/5): - Good evening, I found my family and myself in the need of leaving the hotel for the following reasons: there was dirty underware from previous guest in the bathroom; the shower has no partitions or any courtain to divide it from the rest of the bathroom; the noise from other Room is heard in the Room provided; there is a terrible smell of fungus and humidity in the Room and specially, in the bathroom; the pictures provided in the site, were nothing related to reality; the heater is not working as expected and neither the wifi... If its necessary, I would like to send you some pictures to support my unhappiness. I am very disappointed with this booking and expect to receive a refund for the nights that we are not staying in this hotel, which are going to be 3 from the 4 nights booked. I am looking forward to your response.

A couple of things were a bit disappointing for such hotel, the bed sheets could have been cleaner, the shower curtain was a mess. The safe was in the bathroom, and had to be opened with a tiny key because the combination digit keys were broken, so we just skipped using it.

One of the rooms had carpet and the air conditioner needs to get fixed to decrease the humidity. But everything else was amazing. They are close to a principal avenue with metro stations. Was great! We had to wait outside the accommodation until a staff member heard our knocking and opened the door. The property also offered WIFI connection, however this entire trip we were not able to connect to their wifi despite trying different passcode and connections. The staff did not care that we couldn't connect and repeatedly told us that it was a conflict with our devices. Yet, waiting in the lobby, I witnessed many guests complaining that they were not able to connect to the WIFI.

• Verified traveler (4/5): - The bathroom smelled like a wet towel the whole time, the hotel is right by a street that has bars so it is noisy, the AC hardly worked, the only good thing was the beds were fairly comfortable.
• Nickalas (2/5): Don’t Stay - It was horrible, the staff are very rude and make the stay not worth it. They also gave me a surprise $250 charge when I was leaving.
• Karo (8/5): Attic room... - The staff was very VERY helpful and friendly. That’s worth gold if it’s your 1st time in Paris and don’t have a clue. We stayed in a finished attic room. It was spacious but nowhere to sit other than one chair and the beds. The bathroom was a nice size but no shower curtain which is odd to me. And there is a window in the bathroom where you can see into this persons apartment across the street. Which means he can see into your bathroom while you take a shower without a shower curtain. The bathroom wasn’t nasty but it wasn’t sparkly clean, either. I’d give it a solid 3 stars.
• Wanda (8/5): - Pleasant stay, clean rooms and good customer service. Breakfast was ok. I wish they had more options. I will stay there again.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Good location - The hotel is in a very good location to all the Paris sites. The room for two people was fine. The room for three people was too small for two beds.
• Kimberly (6/5): Not the best but not the worst - While the staff was really great, the hotel itself left a lot to be desired. The hall and rooms (on my floor anyway) are not carpeted and that combined with thin walls make for a noisy atmosphere. There was also a strong mildew smell in my bathroom which was probably caused in part by the shower. There is a shower curtain cut too short that did not keep water actually in the shower so the floor ended up being soaked despite my best efforts. The overall condition of the room was kind of shabby and not very inviting. I think some of the rooms have had a refurbish but I wasn't lucky enough to get one of those. I never had the hotel breakfast so I can't comment on that but there is an awesome boulangerie right across the street with delicious and inexpensive pastries. I liked the neighborhood a lot, plenty of restaurants and shopping. And there are a couple of Metro stops close by that can quickly get you to any spot in Paris. As I said, the staff were all lovely and helpful. If some money were spent on some upgrades, it could be a great hotel. I won't be visiting again until that happens.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Good - Good location within easy walking distance of both the Gare de Nord and the Grand Magazins. Small hotel with friendly staff and simple and adequate accommodation and facilities. Good value.
• Jason (10/5): - If you are traveling with kids and on a budget, then this is an excellent choice. Tremendous staff, clean, and a typical European Breakfast.
