• Rory (10/5): Iconic, tranquil, and luxurious city break! - Perfect location, super friendly and helpful staff. Really tasteful interiors, especially the bar area and the restaurants. Breakfast was phenomenal, especially when you can grab one of the windows seats on the canals! Little bit pricier than expected based on similar hotels, had to typically ask the front desk for a bartender for the bar as it was often empty, but honestly it's hard to pick faults with this place.

• Klindsay13 (10/5): I Left my Heart in Herengracht: A Magical Stay at The Ambassade - My husband, daughter and I spent a truly magical, wonderful week in Amsterdam at The Ambassade. The central location—along the beautiful Herengracht in a row of converted canal houses—made walking to all the many museums, shops and restaurants very easy and delightful. I requested two rooms close by, which the hotel thoughtfully provided. All the rooms appear to be unique, and both of ours were attractive, comfortable and well-appointed. We were on the top floor, so we got soaring ceilings—with a skylight!—and a rooftop view of the charming homes surrounding us. It was very quiet on our floor, so we slept well in our very cozy beds. Housekeeping was always done efficiently and everything was very impeccably clean. The front desk staff was warm and welcoming, answering any questions and ordering transportation when we needed it. This was my first visit to Amsterdam and I sincerely hope it will not be my last. I would stay again at The Ambassade in a heartbeat and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a first-rate experience.

• Scenic41350218460 (10/5): Wonderful from A to Z. - Absolutely wonderful. After our Honeymoon in 2001 we came back to the Ambassade again 25 years later. And it was fabulous. The Ambassade managed to keep the wonderful, quiete and luxurious atmosphere but also be up to date when it comes to design and amenities. As well all staff: Super friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful room with view to the channel. Quite, sunny and with nice details along the historic buildung. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent and here as well the service was absolutely perfect.

If walking not possible, the tram only 2 blocks away with easy on/off with a credit card. The boutique hotel staff is fantastic and the hotel bed very comfortable (with a foam pillow as a second option if the bed pillows too soft). The hotel is charming & was quiet during our stay. Bathroom updated and water pressure good. We would absolutely recommend both the hotel and restaurant.

• CGBRID (10/5): A Simply Sublime Stay - From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by such an amazing team including William, who seemed to have magical powers and appeared instantly with a warm smile and answers to all our questions. After a less than stellar transatlantic flight, we were grateful to have requested the car service offered by the hotel. It was a seamless transfer with wonderful service. The Ambassade team made little haste getting us into our room early (thank you!). The room was divine and had an exquisite view of the canal, but with no noise issue from the street below. We melted into the luxury linens, towels, robe and slippers, but first gleeful to notice the heated tile floor in the luxurious bathroom. After experiencing an unexpected medical issue, the hotel swiftly provided amazing service and once again, magical William appeared at our door within moments of calling. Shout out to the Brasserie for the incredible food and service. Plan on an amazing breakfast with a dreamy view of the canal. It’s a must see. The Ambassade is truly a rare gem in a world of routine and lackluster lodging. We will be back and certainly encourage others to make special memories here. You won’t regret it!

We always have a canal view room and love people watching with a glass of red, watching all the boats go by. As soon as we get to the Hotel we are on Ambassade time, we’ve returned to our happy place. Great breakfast too - although this time it did seem to have been streamlined quite a bit. • sirtravel (10/5): Can’t wait to return - This is one of my favorite city hotels in the world. I have been staying at this hotel since 1990 and it continues to impress. The hotel is a literary and arts hotel and is classy and quiet. The hotel is a conglomeration of a number of canal houses that are charming and unique. The rooms are old world but fully modern and if you’re lucky enough to have a canal view room just open the window and sit back. The linens and toiletries were very high quality and the bed and pillows allow for a perfect nights sleep. But maybe the best part is the excellent service. Whether it is Wim and Eduardo as porters, Hannibal as a server in the dining room and bar and everyone else — too many to name — you will be treated as hot only a guest but as a friend. We can’t wait to return. PS The breakfast is delicious!

• mickc850 (10/5): A great hotel in a great location. - I stayed in the Ambassade hotel for two nights in mid January. Everything was really good, the staff were very all really professional and they all seemed to have a great sense of humour, always a good sign! The location was perfect for getting around and it had a lovely view out over the canal. The room was perfect, the bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was very spacious. My room was accessed through a separate door which gave the feeling of it being your own place. I did not eat in the hotel but the it looked really good. Thanks again to all the staff for a great stay.

• VictoriaK402 (10/5): Highly recommended for business, friends or solo stays - My friend and I had a wonderful weekend stay at the Ambassade. We stayed in a lovely room overlooking the canal which was surprisingly quiet and peaceful for sleeping. Our bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable; we particularly liked the beds and bedding. The staff were friendly and attentive. All together it was just the experience we were looking for!
• Eleanor (10/5): Excellent hotel but not quite what we expected, and a bit pricey. - We had a larger room, and the location in Amsterdam was excellent. We could easily walk to everything we were interested in. The room was extremely quiet. All of the amenities in the room were top notch, but I'm not convinced they were worth the price. We had a large room and it was actually located a few doors down the street from the hotel itself (where the lobby, restaurant, all other rooms were located). The entrance was private, but was below street level with windows looking out on the sidewalk. If I had known this ahead of time, I would have requested a room in the main hotel on a higher floor. All of the amenities in the room were top notch, but I'm not convinced they were worth the price. We were contacted about extra taxes after we booked (in addition to the taxes we were expecting) and this contributed to the disappointment in the price.

From the very first moment, the professionalism, warmth, and genuine hospitality of the entire team — especially at the reception — were evident. The rooms are generously sized, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully designed, offering a warm and serene atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at ease. Every detail contributed to an experience of true comfort and understated luxury. I extend my sincere gratitude to the entire team for such an outstanding stay. • 435annec (10/5): The very best of Amsterdam! - We had a lovely stay at the Ambassade, and I will absolutely be staying here the next time I visit Amsterdam (and recommending it to everyone). After a week in Amsterdam on business, the Ambassade was the perfect launching point for exploring the charms of historic Amsterdam. Location & Facility: Perfect location within an easy walk of the Jordaan, the red light distirct, the 9 streets area, and the central train station. The converted canal houses make for a gorgeous, history-infused stay and it’s absolutely worth getting a canal view room. Some of the photos I took of the canal from one of our room’s three windows are among the best canal photos I took the whole trip! Service & Amenities: I emailed ahead of my stay to arrange additional details of the stay, including changing the number of guests and requesting specific beds. The prompt, helpful email replies were an early indication of the excellent, personalized service we could expect once we arrived. the hotel staff made an effort to get to know us, including escorting us to our room, phoning later to make sure the room had everything we needed, following up to ask how specific activities had been when we returned later in the day and checking in on our experience, etc. Food: We only ate at the restaurant for breakfast, but I had superb Eggs Benedict and the inclusion of a variety of crepes to the more expected egg offerings made for a nice variety. The buffet portion had beautifully flaky croissants and a pleasing variety of meats, cheeses, and fruits, in addition to an elevated yogurt and cereal station. Take away: We would have enjoyed our stay here for the comfortable beds, finely appointed rooms, and ideal location alone, but the standout service and thoughtful touches elevated it to a super fine, 5-Star experience.

Great staff and service, Beautiful Hotel, Great Location. Entire hotel is immaculate and quiet even though it is right on a beautiful canal. Great restaurant. I give it 10 Stars!

We stayed for three nights in a canal view room - watching the canal boats go by from the comfort of our sitting area became our evening routine. Enjoyed morning breakfast to start the day and the Library bar for evening refreshments. Easy street car ride to hotel from Centraal Station. Once at the hotel we mostly walked everywhere but street cars are close by if so desire. Highly recommend this hotel.
