Guest Reviews
- lisa (2/5): - We stayed 2 nights, First night we had air-condition. Second night (final night) no air-conditioning. Could not get a hold of staff although they said they were reachable 24/7. Staff responded 2 days later advising they were at the bank. They knew we were leaving in the morning and didn't provide the air-condition and there was nothing we could do. once they have your money they stop responding. Be wary
- John (6/5): - The pictures were very misleading. Our room was very bare and the building shown in the main picture on Expedia website was definitely not the actual hotel. The hotel was in the middle of the street, but the picture showed what looked like a restaurant at the end of a building.
- David (8/5): Locanda ai Bareteri - Great location, nice property. The only difficulties were 1. the stairs, we were on the top floor and no elevator, so it was almost 100 steps. 2. The water pressure of the sink and shower was very low. As far as the location, it was great, the host was amazing. Very easy to walk anywhere.
- Denieleh (10/5): - The hotel was very clean and felt very safe. Great location and very close to the Rialto Bridge. Staff was great and very kind, even suggested a waterboat to get to the airport which was a much cheaper option to a water taxi.
- Dominck (4/5): - Property had no elevator. No TV and coming from a 5 star hotel the accommodations were not what we expected.
- Mustafa (8/5): - Great place, very our of sight and niche. Close to every noteworthy place in Venice.
- Mary Anne (10/5): - This property was so amazing! For our first trip to Venice, it was such an amazing taste of the ‘old world’. Luca was so kind and a great host, sending emails before giving us such specific directions that there was no way we could get lost in the maze of Venice. He also gave us all of the options, private taxi, water bus and trains to get from the airport to the hotel. The hotel is centrally located and so convenient, literally four minutes from the Rialto Bridge. Luca was also very helpful in planning our departure from Venice. 100% would recommend.
- Genaro (10/5): - Perfect spot to tourist around.
- Angela (8/5): - Good/Fair stay. You get what you pay for. For example, although it states AC, if you want to turn it on, you must pay. Location is amazing! Staff is friendly and nice.
- Alejandro (2/5): - This is unsafe place, no family oriente, no working A/C inside the rooms, no tv, to small, dirty, creepy at night time. Strong smell due to poor air circulation.
- Marcelo (8/5): Vacations - Well to getting is complicated with self checking, we get a room in the 4 store is NO elevators, other thing is No TV in rooms and last thing water in the shower was cutting off so often and we have to open and closings valves.
In general place is in good shape
If you can live we all thats location is great 3 minutus from san marcos squares
- Deepak (8/5): - This is a great location, 2-5 min walk to all the major attractions. Rooms are good. You have to be able to carry your luggage up some steep stairs. Our main complaint is that we were not made aware that this is a self-check-in hotel. We arrived during the check-in window hours, but the door was locked, no one answered the buzzer or phone and we had to wait 20 mins for another guest to leave and unlock the door for us. And then your keys are just sitting on the desk. The guests who let us in, stated that they had to wait 2 hours the day before. Be aware, but the location is excellent.
- Tim (10/5): Good for the money in Venice. - Great value for the money, close to Rialto Bridge.
- Michelle (10/5): - Loved it!!!
- ALLA (10/5): - Very friendly, helpful stuff!
- Jennifer (10/5): - Amazing experience. Great room, location, and service. Amazing value too. Very close to all the sights in Venice for a very good price. Would recommend this accommodation to anyone. 10/10
- Adam (10/5): - Great location to the rialto
- Maia (10/5): - Amazing hotel! An easy 2 minute walk from the Rialto Bridge and less than 5 minutes from San Marco's square! Luca was also amazing with help with any questions and concerns. Would 100% use this hotel again if I'm ever in Venice.
- Maria (10/5): - We had a marvelous time! The hotel lixation is central and convenient. If you are looking for a quiet place, this is not the one thought - the sounds of Venice were enjoyable for us!
- Sylvie (8/5): - The property was nice , clean and in a great location. It was noisy evening because of the restaurant next door as our window was right ani w it. Other than that it was a great price-quality and the staff was very friendly
- NANDAKUMAR (2/5): - Not worth writing
- Adam (10/5): Great lodging in a great location - We had a very nice stay here. The room was nice, the hotel has immense charm, and was very conveniently located for our activities in Venice.
Luca, the manager, was very helpful and friendly, and was very accommodating for our early-morning departure/check-out. I only gave comfort 4 out of 5 because I found the mattress to be very stiff - it was in good condition, just a difference of preference.
- Hongfei (10/5): - Location is great. We could walk to all sites we want to visit. The service is great. On last day, the owner told us how to get to the VCE airport which is very helpful. The only complaint is that it could get noisy at night on the street when you try to sleep.
- Rita (10/5): - Excellent location, lovely friendly and informative staff, the only suggestion I could give would be, maybe offer water in the bedrooms on arrival. Not an exceptional cost to the hotel but would definitely be very welcomed by the guests
- Florence (10/5): - Lovely hotel situated perfectly within walking distance to either san Marco square or rialto bridge! Kind helpful staff, lovely room with small balcony but air conditioning didn’t work and the shower was very small ! Other than that was a perfect and enjoyable stay, would highly recommend and will be staying again !
- Anna-Katherina (6/5): - A nice traditional hotel in central location. Unfortunately they gave us only the overspill room „Skipper“ although we had booked 5 months ahead of time. „Skipper“ is located directly over the hotel entrance. The front door bangs all night. Clattering and shouting from two restaurant back entrances in the Calle, too. Internet: does not work in „Skipper“ between 22:00-07:00. Heating: broken. All in all: ask before you book and refuse to take „Skipper“.
- John (6/5): - The room was decent size and very clean. However the bed was very firm and the mini fridge was not usable because they make you turn off the electric in the room any time you leave. There was no TV in the room. The staff was friendly when we saw them. Beware there are many stairs to climb to get to the rooms, and the front door is in a dimly lit alley, so it can seem a bit intimidating.
- robert (8/5): - Great location close to Rialto Bridge. Room size etc was great. Had to climb 4 flights to get our room so would not be good if too elderly. No ice but they found some for us. Breakfast needs to be booked in advance. Easy checkin.
- Erica (10/5): - Located in the Rialto area of Venice, this is a quaint hotel. There is not an elevator, so if you cannot climb stairs, this is not for you. It is close to shopping and restaurants. The staff were very helpful and helped made our stay pleasant.
- Paul (10/5): - My wife and I had an amazing experience staying at Locanda ai Bareteri. Lucas and all the other staff were friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating. The location was very central to everywhere we wanted to visit. Luca’s pre-stay email outlined everything we needed to know, including how to get there. (A quick tip… use the City Mapper app. It got us everywhere!) we would definitely stay here again… and hopefully will get the chance to do so.
- Keith (8/5): - Excellent location, short walking distance to anything important! Pleasant and helpful staff! Note: no elevator, so some steps to climb, no TV, use of fridge comes with additional charge of 3 euro per day. Good value, great location!
- Jerard (10/5): - Great Location
- Vladislav (10/5): - Great property in the center of Venice
- James (8/5): - Good central location for San Marco and Rialto.
- KRISTINE (4/5): - Its not a quit place. You cant sleep at all.
- grace (10/5): - Beautiful hotel perfectly located pictures are real owners are very friendly and very helpful walked us to places we needed to go I recommend this hotel
- Peter (10/5): Perfect location to see all the sights of Venice! - Fantastic location. Hotel was very charming, breakfast every morning was very nice. Very convenient to visit all the locations on our itinerary. Luca was a great help in letting us know what's happening locally, and directions to get around town conveniently. Had a wonderful time in Venice! Hope to come back!
- Anna (10/5): - Great location
- David (10/5): Great vibes. Stay here - Great spot. Extremely helpful staff. Left a battery pack on accident and they held it till a friend could pick it up a few weeks later.
- Aron (4/5): Terrible Hotel Service - When we got there our room was not ready and we were then given a room on the 5th floor with no elevators instead of our schedules that was not ready on the 1st floor.
We gave the front desk person an ice pack to keep for us to get before we left. This was used to keep medicine cold. Tried to get ahold of the front seat the night before we left to retrieve ice pack for an early morning departure. Sent multiple text, emails and phone calls and never got a reply. Had to leave without ice pack putting medicine and therefore our family member at risk of illness.
Also no change of towels, bathrooms were small and no one at front desk when we were there, phone numbers were provided but no one responded, an email was given but no one responded and number for WhatsApp was given but no
One responded to texts or phone calls…
I would be very leary of using this hotel… our expert ice was not good and with no communication what so ever, probably not a safe place to stay.
- Boldkhuu (6/5): - The twin bed squeaks loudly every time I move. It was hard to sleep well. The shower gets cold even when your neighbor showers at the same time. The hotel charges you additional money if you use the fridge. Even if you did want to use the fridge, it smells bad that wouldn’t want to put stuff in there. No electric kettle, no microwave. If you request to change the towels, that’s an additional charge. They explain that it’s for saving the environment but ironically their toilet’s water saving mode doesn’t work. It was real nice to have an AC in the room.
- Hossein (6/5): - The WiFi was very weak but the bed bugs were the biggest problem
- Dilip (10/5): - Great experience and great host
- MAJID (2/5): - First and foremost that was a disaster and awful experience I have ever had !!! The staff were really helpless and impolite. The room was not clean and we did not got the difference between the double and triple rooms, both were the same. Actually I would say I have not seen any places like this before!!!
If you want to have a pleasant time during the time that you will plan to come to Venice I would not recommend it to you !!!
In one word I could say that was the worst one !!
- Suleman (8/5): - Easy access to all spot near by to everything you will need only air conditioning too week rest everything was fine
- Kevin (10/5): - We enjoyed staying at this historic property with modern/upgraded facilities. Excellent location with ample cafes nearby for morning cappuccino … easy to get to/from Marco Polo airport or Venice train station by water taxis, even with luggage. Luca was an excellent and gracious host quick with hospitality offers of cold drinks and suggestions. Room was very clean and the bed comfort was excellent. Greatly appreciated the robust air conditioning in the room. Also felt very safe and secure here.
- Ava (10/5): - Luca was an incredible host and was so flexible when our plane was delayed! The hotel itself does not have facilities such as lifts, however, it did not cause an issue on our trip! we had such a great time in venice and the hotel was in the perfect spot to pop in an out of. in a super safe area surrounded by the water and shops! will definitely return x
- Ellie (6/5): - Great location and fairly quiet for the spot. Bed was terrible. Felt like sleeping on cardboard. Upper level balcony was nice place to eat a pizza. Nice to be able to keep luggage here after checkout too.
- Grace (4/5): - This is not a hotel but someone’s narrow apart complex converted to accommodation. It’s 4 1/2 floors building without a lift/elevator. We had to carry all our luggages from ground to 4th floor. No bathroom once you checked out. Small bathroom without a very accessible counter space. Only shampoo and hand-wash provided yet hard to squeeze out. For $250/night, this is completely a ripoff. Expedia please source better options for travelers!!
- timothy (10/5): - The room was quiet, clean. The concierge and staff were accommodating and friendly. Location was great for walking to San Marco and Rialto Bridge, water bus to/from the city/terminal. Only complaint bed could have been softer. We did enjoy our stay very much.
- BILL (10/5): - Would stay again. Close to all attractions
- BILL (10/5): - Would stay here again, easy check in, easy access to sites around town
- LIM DAW KWEI (10/5): Cozy little hotel - Visited 11-13 march. The hotel is a little family owned hotel. The owner is absolutely accommodating and the sweetest I’ve seen for my whole entire trip. The only complaint is the massive amounts of staircase have to be walked up.
Great location and I’ll definitely stay here if I’m in town
- Lauren (6/5): Good location, subpar room - Location was great, but the room left much to be desired. The AC did not work for our whole stay, the bed was very uncomfortable with only two very thin pillows to sleep on. The hotel has thin walls so it was quite loud, but that part is not the fault of the hotel. The AC was not addressed while we were there and it made sleeping difficult unfortunately. Overall the location is great though, very close to a lot of shopping and restaurants.
- Tu Uyen (2/5): - Very poor community before checking in. I had mosquito bites all over my body from not having access to the AC because they control bases on out Side temperature. No windows screen. Extremely noisy through 1AM. No access of the refrigerator unless use order bar access. No elevator access to 6 stairs flight. Would be help to know taking water taxi from the train station to Rialto to reach the place I stead of San Marino. We reserved for two people they only gave us one bottle of water.
The only good things are the location & comfortable bed.
I would never stay again or suggest anyone to stay in this place. For what we paid for this place it is Worse than Motel 6.
- Matthew (10/5): - Lovely location and recommended place to stay. The only inconvenience is the Google Maps location is slightly off so was difficult to find.
- Noe (4/5): - The place does not have nothing that a room with a bed,
- Ja (6/5): Venezia! - Fantastic location between San Marco and Rialto Bridge. Throw away the old clothes structure - boudoir? Was musty.
- Rachel (10/5): - Very good location, and some of the more comfortable beds we slept on in Italy. Be prepared for stairs, though! We stayed on the top floor and climbed all 90 (we counted) stairs every time. Location is central to most everything in Venice and is surrounded by food and shopping.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Location good but some negatives to be aware of - The location of the hotel is great. However, some cons: they charge you if you check in later than 8pm (we didn’t, but something to note). There is no one on location after 8pm, so if you need anything, you’re out of luck until the next day. I wanted more pillows, because the one provided was basically a flat pancake, but I had to deal with it because it was past 8pm. If you want to check out early (before like 10am or something?) you have to remember to do it the night before, otherwise I don’t even know what the consequence would be. Our room was the room on the first floor next to the entry stairs, so we could hear everyone coming and going which was annoying. The rooms were clean though.
- William (4/5): - This was a one-star hotel which charged four-star prices. I couldn't even get a continental breakfast unless I paid $16 a day for it. There was no elevator so I had to walk up over 56 steps to my room which had no TV and spotty wi-fi, I don't recommend anyone staying here at ant time.
- Lynn (8/5): - The property was in a very convenient location. Lots of shopping and restaurants are steps away. Transportation is a very short walk away, so you can get anywhere in the Venice area. Be prepared to walk and walk and walk! The only transportation is by Vaporetto(water bus).
The hotel has NO ELEVATOR and 4 floors. Pack light!
- Mehzabin (8/5): - Very central location and friendly staff! Accommodated all our needs.
- Matthew (6/5): - No water in room. No TV. No telephone. No television. No AC, so open window means a lot of mosquito bites. No elevator. Refrigerator will cost if you turn it on. Weak hair dryer. No 24-hour desk. There was baggage storage, but no public toilet after check out, which was kind of harsh. Like a guest house - not a real hotel. Venice may be the cause of some of these conditions. Old city. Small quarters. Everything expensive and overpriced actually. I wouldn’t stay here again, but will not return to Venice either, so…
- Assem (10/5): - Nice place
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location, downside lot of noice from the streets where people were walking until very late in the night. Hotel was interesting in a good way. Classic italian styled room.
- Elizabeth (4/5): Not my favorite - This is a 2 star hotel but 4 star service. The hotel is in a very good location, but the bed and pillows are not comfortable and the street next to us was loud at night with pedestrians. Maybe the rooms on the other side of the building are quieter. I closed the windows at night to be more quiet but then the room was too warm and they did not give us a remote to the air conditioning. The check in process was very good and the man at the front desk was so kind and friendly, even carried our suitcases upstairs, however he left earlier both days than what was posted so we couldn’t tell him that our shower was leaking water into the room after hours. There was no response when we called and texted the whatsapp number. The bathroom was nicely updated and towels are replaced every 3 days or you can pay extra for a new towel. The hotel is clean and staff is friendly but I would not stay again unless there was better pillows and bed. You get what you pay for and I would suggest this hotel for those who don’t mind a bad bed
- Paul (10/5): - Just a 5 minute walk from rialto wayer taxi, everything is on your doorstep
- Richard (10/5): - I highly recommend this hotel. The staff is excellent and the location is great.
- Rehana (8/5): - Location is spot on, literally stones throw from rialto bridge. Its in a side street next to canal so views arexsuperb, especially on an evening. My room was on 3rd floor so bit of a trek and tiring.
The flush doesn’t work properly on an evening but rest of day fine. Shower has a good strong force, plenty of towels, shower itself is clean but the shower screen at bottom wasn’t as spotless as id like. Room has s very traditional vibe and very comfy & warm as is the bed. The only downside is the night we arrived, there were no extra pillows and no duvet for the bed so didn’t sleep well, i did message i wanted breakfast but none was provided.
I feel reception needs to be manned but otherwise pleasant stay snd for the price in prime location.
- Maryam (10/5): - I am so glad I booked Locanda Ai Bareteri for the most perfect stay. It was located in between San Marco and Rialto. Amazing location. Luca was an exceptional host, we were greeted warmly and he explained everything. Our quad room was beautiful and spacious with all amenities required. I will stay here again but will be booking with the property directly and not Expedia as they were useless when I had trouble with booking.
- Alexander (10/5): - Wife and kids love it. Staff was very helpful.
- Mark (8/5): - The Locanda is easy to find, despite being on a small lane. It is close to both the Rialto and San Marco, lots of shopping close. I really, a super location with a genial host.
- Ann (6/5): - Very minimal. Everything was extra. Cleaning staff was impatient. However the location was wonderful and the owner/manager was very accommodating.
- Rhiarna (10/5): - Great location 6 minutes walk from rialto bridge, the service was great, incredibly clean hotel
- Sharon (10/5): - Lucca and Maria Theresa were both so helpful and genuinely kind. We arrived late but they had an envelope with the key waiting at the front desk. Breakfast was presented beautifully and so fresh!
Our only caveat was no lift and we were on the 4th floor. But they told us we could leave our luggage behind the front desk and Lucca was so kind to walk our 3 suitcases over to the next hotel for us!
Lovely stay!
- Joshua (10/5): - Great time
- joseph (10/5): - It took awhile to find but could not have been a more convenient location.
- Joshua (10/5): - This place is just amazing and conveniently located in the centre of everything! Plus it’s really close to the bus boat station that goes to the Marco Polo airport. Close to st marks square and the Rialto bridge. Would stay here again.
- Mary (10/5): - Luca was so helpful. Thank you for all the advice and directions.
- Elinor (10/5): - I had an amazing stay at Locanda ai Bareteri. The location was perfect, close to everything! Staff were friendly and room was big and clean. Would definitely stay here again.
- wendy (8/5): - Great location. Friendly staff. Room a good size. Bed a little firm but enjoyed my stay.
- Sherif (10/5): - Excellent location, 5min away from Rialto bridge, st Marc square, water bus station and many nice restaurants and cafes.
Getting there was super easy from Marco Polo airport by water taxi directly to Rialto station.
The owner “Luca” is very nice and helpful, checking in and out was very easy.
Definitely would recommend staying there.
- STEVEN (10/5): - Great location, decor and style in keeping with area and my expectations. Really enjoyed the hotel and the immediate access to all Venice islands have to offer.
Expedia information I received about the local tax rate and what I was charged by the hotel were different so beware of that: Expedia said 1.50 EUR per night per guest but the hotel said it was 3 EUR per night per guest. This caused me be overcharged 15 EUR more than expected and then it was annoying having this correspondence with the hotel.
- Fernando (10/5): - Great location, confortable room and great service from Lucca
- Verified traveler (8/5): Our stay in Venice - Bed was very hard. The room and bathroom were fine, otherwise. No one greeted us at any time. When you arrive, you buzz and the door unlocks. There were several envelopes with names on them on the counter. Wifi password was a challenge. We didn't find it anywhere so called the office. He said it was on the envelope with our room key but it was not. It is written on the sign on the managers door (we saw later). Hard to find the inn, but that's just Venice.
- Ryan (10/5): - Very quaint feeling old Venetian property. Unfortunately, there was no air condition while we were there, so we slept with the winds open, resulting in me getting bitten 20 times by some sort of bug. It is also worth noting that there is no elevator, but there are four stories. Overall though, I enjoyed my stay, the hotel is a brief walk from the water taxi station and I would definitely stay there again.
- Alexander (8/5): - We stayed for 2 nights. The location is great. The room is large, clean, and comfortable. The cleaning staff are friendly. However, the AC was not turned on during our first night. It was hot and the mosquitoes had a feast. After telling the manager the next morning, the AC was finally turned on. I can't imagine without AC in June, July, and August. Yes, there is no elevator. But those who complained about this had not done their homework: You have to carry your luggage around in Venice by walking up and down many bridges, etc.. Just don't bring large pieces of luggage to Venice, period.
- Emily (10/5): - Luca was so nice and accommodating, our room was exactly what we expected, and the location was fantastic. Loved our stay.
- Gloria (6/5): - The room was comfortable enough; no extras! Charge for clean towels, no elevator, steep stairs. Most of all, proprietor stated on Expedia website that the there is limited onsite parking when it in fact there is NO parking! You need to park on the main land in parking garages and get a water taxi over. It would have been so helpful if the proprietor stated this on the website!
- Kirsty (8/5): - Spacious room, within a stone's throw of the Rialto and other main attractions.
- Maria (10/5): - The gentleman at the front desk was wonderful! He was so helpful to us for giving us tips on the best way to get around and where to go in the area. We are glad we stayed there. It was in a good area too.
- Stuart (10/5): - Authentic Italian apartment within 5 minute walk of the rialto bridge, would highly recommend!
- Samantha (6/5): - We are having a unusually warm October. I asked it the air conditioner was available and I was told that it had been turned off for the season. At night we had to open the windows. The windows do not have screens and I was eaten alive by mosquitos. The management did not care.....
- ALISA (2/5): - Never picked me up from airport, no sign walked around for hours -private house no numbers. Dirty, no fee Wi-Fi no fee shuttle , no elevator three floors up. I was so upset I didn’t even check in - walked the streets until I found a at had availability! Hotel Fontana! Amazing group of folks . Location was perfect , clean friendly, across from restaurants Roberto — also amazing . I travel Venice often - I have need had this kind of issue - total false advertising - I already informed Travelocity- horrible experience:(
- Cheryl (6/5): - The location of the Hotel is good. Walking to various restaurants and bars as well as tourist attractions is easy.
This is an old, small hotel. There are several floors and there is NO ELEVATOR. We carried luggage several floors up to our room. Also, it's difficult to find the hotel at night. It would be HELPFUL if business-size cars with the hotel's name and location clearly listed..
- Liv (10/5): - Great location, Luca was incredibly helpful and welcoming. We stayed for 3 nights and it was perfect for what we needed.
- Jackie (6/5): - Luca was very professional and good customer service but hotel is old and needs renovation. Rooms are very small
- Jessica (8/5): In the heart of Venice! - Great location and great owner (Luca (apologies if spelt wrong)). The hotel was center ally located to EVERYTHING - walked to the train station even (a little further but doable-22 minutes walk). It did have stairs to get to the rooms. Lucca was very patient with us while I was confused and frustrated about a hotel charge. He made our stay and checkout amazing. The only reason I rated the cleanliness an “okay” is because the toilet smelled like urine and there was mild/mildew built up within the shower. Great stay and would recommend while wanting to be in the city.
