When we went to the breakfast room at the prescribed time, we were told they don’t offer breakfast. This is something we look for when choosing accommodations. Also the toilet never flushed entirely. The shower door was missing and the substituting shower curtain was hung with zip ties.

I didn’t have cash for the city tax and they expected me to go do a cash advance at an ATM, for huge fees to get 14 euro in cash and save the payment fees processing it on CC that at most would be 35 cents. After talking I told them I would not. This was 12th day in italy, I know the tax well. Not you one place ever acted like this. She said, we told on expedia. No you did not say you only take cash. They didn’t understand. If a hotel ever, goes this far to save cents from a paying customer clearly they will do anything for money. Issues: * No Hot Water for 3 days * Upstairs 2nd floor smelt like sewage. * Can hear everything! Some rooms must be shared bathrooms, you will hear every trip they make. Overall: It was a stay… Don’t think I would return.

• Frauke (4/5): Not clean, not comfortable and not recommended - I would not recommend this for a single woman traveling- the alley leading to hotel is not lighted. I did not feel safe there at all. The bathroom was dirty. The room smelled damp. The shower was tiny. I left a day early because it was not a clean, comfortable place to stay. I travel a lot, and this is the first time in years that I’ve been compelled to change hotels.
• Sunny (6/5): - The best things about this hotel is the location. Just next to the most famous square in Venice, next to the water bus stops. Super convenient. However this hotel loses on a couple fronts so please consider these before booking. 1. The bath shower had mold along all corners. It just made everything look poor and unhealthy. 2. This is a very very very basic hotel with not enough amenities. No body lotion etc in bathroom. The bath towels are super thin. 3. The manager forced us to pay the city tax in cash which was weird since the person. George is paid with a card. All other places in Italy accepted cards. 4. Lastly, there is a common bathroom between the rooms and the door is mostly always open that creates a stinky smell all the time.

However, I believe this was a lucky shoot for us since we had more space in the hotel room (4 persons). But, I think it was strange and odd to communicate this to us the day before arrival (to be clear, we had the choice to stay in the hotel). No cost reduction offered. The app that we was reallocated to is newly renovated and very nice, the location is perfect. The shower and towels leaves more to wish for.

It was close to San Marco along the waters edge. I had a great relaxing time to stroll the Alleys and canals nearby. The hospitality of Tiepolo was superb. Very helpful to directing me as for directions. My room was perfect. Thanks to the staff!
• Vessi (8/5): It was okay - The hotel is perfectly located close to all major tourist spots, shops and restaurants. Toom was comfortable and clean and not too noisy considering we were on a main street. The obly issues were with the bathroom which seems to be a commonn problem in room 110. The shower is horrible and so is the shower pressure. Shower cabin door is broken so there is a masty shower curtain hanging there that is totally out of place and very dirty. The water is barely coming out and leaking since the shower head is broken as well... I hope other rooms are better, avoid 110 at all cost.

The hotel is in the heart of Venice which made sightseeing and dining convenient. Very close to the mall, Water bus stops, Marks Basillica and Doge’s Palace. Also guests receive a small discount at the next door restaurant, which was great. I think this hotel was s good deal for what we paid for.

The girl in the reception was really polite and helpful. She gave us directions as a professional concierge. Also, in the morning we went for breakfast late but the staff let us enjoy the breakfast with big smiles and excellent service. The WiFi was fast and on all night. The room was tiny but cute and beautiful. The bathroom was very clean but the shower was very narrow. I was barely fit inside (maybe taller people would have problem) and there was a curtain that made me feel uncomfortable. The only problem was the noise of the heating machine. It was so loud that if weren't really tired we wouldn't be able to sleep. Generally very good 3 star hotel, I recommend it for one night and if you want an appropriate room in the center of venice.

• Djruni (4/5): 2 nights - And this was 2 nights to much... when we came to Venezia we had problems to find the entrance to the hotel.. and when we did find it was hidden in the end of a narrow street. The woman behind the desk was ok, gave us the key and told us where the room was in the first floor. There is no elevator, but thats okay(just one floor) the room was ok.. bed soft.. bathroom nice.. and everything clean. But you can hear everything.. kids crying, parents yelling in the next rom.. builders knocking and sawing.. and the people outside. Shower did not have enough pressure.. so e ended up throwing water on my self.. the thowels was just paper.. the small amount of water that did get on me was not getting dryed of. And then there is the free wifi... or not.. the wifi was on and of all the time and sucked big time.. but there is one thing great with this place... location ! Everything is near.. if you can find the hotel 😉 good luck 😉 im not comming back to this place...

Easy walk to all attractions, close to the ferry, I had no issues locating as I read the directions & other reviews. Cannot understand some of the bad reviews as I really could not fault this hotel. Breakfast was nice.

Short Walk from Zaccarias boat terminal. If you read the directions on their webpage, easy to find, look for the very small alley.

• SG1087 (4/5): Disappointed Poor Value - Stayed for the second time in this hotel last week of March 2017. Nothing like our first time. We got to the hotel at almost 4pm on a Tuesday and a young lady in the front desk greeted us. She checked us in and asked for our taxes that must be paid in cash. We did and she gave us the key to room 110. The inside of the hotel was stuffy and warm. We entered the room and immediately noticed how stuffy and warm it was inside. We opened the window but it wouldn't stay open so we propped it behind the TV on the wall. The bathroom was ok except the shower. The glass door was missing so they replaced it with a shower curtain. The shower is small and dirty. The shower floor was visibly in need of a good scrubbing. The shower curtain was disgusting towards the bottom. I took pictures and posted it with this review as evidence. The sun was warming up our room quite rapidly despite the cool temperature outside and we decided that we would turn the ac on. We tried turning the air conditioning on but it did not work. The button was missing (see pictures). The young lady from the reception came up to help us and after a few confusing looks she told us that during the "winter" (late march) they shut off the air condition and therefore the customers can't turn it on in any room. She was playing naive at first by telling us that we should leave the on button pressed for the ac and when we came back the evening if it was not cool then MAYBE she could change our room. lol. It stated online that the hotel has ac and it doesn't say anything about the ac not being available in the "winter". We were a bit disappointed after that and the fact that the shower was dirty. And they still have sheets as towels. I understand they maybe trying to save money but some towels would be nice considering the price of this place. Our room 110 faces the open area (piazza) where there are restaurants and a bar. People were yelling and extremely loud until about 1 am on a Tuesday and Wednesday night. At night we could hear the people in the room next door snoring . The walls are paper thin. NO PRIVACY. And to add to all of that there was hammering and drilling going on above us on the top floor. When we checked out at 3am thursday the person at the front desk a young man was sleeping and all groggy stared at us when we gave him the key to the room. After a few odd seconds he nodded and that was all. So we left. We paid about 200 euros for two nights no breakfast included. A complete waste of money. Next time we will be going to another hotel.
• Iknow ArThou (10/5): Great spot in Venice - Hotel was very clean and had a very discreet atmosphere. Located very strategically to all main places but aside enough so you can experience Venice without tourists, especially in the mornings and evenings. Stuff was fantastic.

• italiestlambert (8/5): Bed and breakfast - The place is perfect, just a few minutes from St-Mark's square, it is a very quiet little alley, restaurants all around and just a stroll away from the vaporetto. Our room had a balcony, and at night you could see and listen to the gondolas passing, with some of the handlers signing... We would definitely go back to the same place if we were to go to Venice again. A bit pricey but worth every penny.
• hemang88 (6/5): Pricey, boutique hotel w/ a nice location. - The location is great, being just 4 minutes walking from the famous St. Mark's Square. There is a big lit sign that says "Albergo Tiepolo," but note that the door to enter is in the alleyway at the end. There is always someone at the reception area, which is modern and clean. Some rooms do have a view of the canal, but I unfortunately was unable to secure one. Rather, mine looked over the entryway. The room itself is very basic, but modern and clean. You get an open air closet, a side table, a desk and a mini fridge with waters and soda (but not free). The bathroom is connecting, modern and very clean as well. Oddly, I think the door to my shower was removed, and thusly the water from the showerhead would shoot out into the bathroom area. Daily cleaning service was lovely as well. Please note that even during November, the room rates were high (roughly $78 US a night), but the location again is very, very good. Unfortunately, breakfast is not included at this high rate (which most likely only goes up during the summer months). It is an extra 7 euros and you have to tell them ahead of time if you'd like to have it, which I didn't know on my first night there. Overall, great location & clean accommodations made me satisfied, but my wallet was a bit unhappy.
• y0urm (10/5): Best location - Can't beat the location. A little hidden, so look for a tiny alley off the main square. Close to many restaurants. Rooms are big, bathroom is big. Paid less than 100 euro per night in Nov. Staff is friendly and housekeeping was great. Only weird thing is their towels, which are similar to a tablecloth. Oh well, still got me dry. Highly recommend.
• alorahble (8/5): Beautiful Hotel in a Great Location - We booked our stay at Albergo Tiepolo the night we got into Venice, so it was very quick. You can get to it easily by taking one of the water taxis to San Zaccaria. It faces a bustling square, with many shops, bars, and restaurants at your disposal. It's also a 5 minute walk from San Marco's, so very close to one of the biggest attractions in Venice. The hotel staff definitely could've been friendlier. The woman running the front desk was middle-aged, and made me feel like she didn't want to help me. All the other staff members I met during my stay were fine, but the original person who checked us in did not give me any warm fuzzy feelings, that's for sure. The rooms are located up a set of handsome stone stairs. When you get to the top, there is a red carpet lined on the floor. We stayed in the room furthest to the left at the end of the hallway, it had 3 twin beds (two could be pushed together to make a larger bed). It was very nicely decorated, much like the rest of the hotel, with floor length drapes and hardwood floors. The bathroom was also very nice, had a great sink that I thought was very modern looking. Whoever designed the hotel did a really fantastic job of making it feel like you were not in a "budget" hotel. Our room had a window where you could look out to the street below, which was nice, though I do not believe all the rooms have this feature. It's hard to say because we only stayed in one room during our stay here. At the bottom of the stairs is a breakfast area, which has a beautiful door on the end overlooking the canals. The luggage is stored here for guests who are checking out but still exploring. It's not very well protected, but all of our things were there when we got back, so it was fine. I would definitely stay at Tiepolo again on my next trip to Venice. Great location and a beautiful hotel.

You only get one chance to have a "great experience" Just Amazing you will not be disappointed. ... They all went out of their way to ensure our stay was enjoyed. Best location, fantastic quality breakfast, and Service was AMAZING. Few steps from San Marco square, markets right at the front door, and easy to get to wherever. The place has been renovated and is very charming inside, update was a very nice touch that I have not seen before at a hotel property. Our room was very clean and nicely decorated, cute bathroom with nice toiletries and soft towels.

• Denise (6/5): Venice budget hotel - The hotel was hidden away. The window opened into a small enclosed ally. The staff were helpful when needing directions and had a welcoming smile. Breakfast was light but fresh. Very close to the grand canal and in a popular area.

• Anonymous (6/5): - Wifi: Not very strong when you start getting to the eating area, but acceptable overall. They provide just a password, so it's not very complicated. Staff: I had an issue with the ceiling in the bathroom started leaking. The staff just told me to leave for a bit so they can clean it up. They did not offer another room for me even thought I had some of my stuff wet. Hotel/Room Condition: The bathroom ceiling started leaking (from the air conditioning). The bathroom ceiling had massive water stains. Beware of this. Breakfast: No hot breakfast option. Just pastries, cold cuts, cheese and yogurt.

• Bogumila (8/5): Great couple of days in Venezia!!!' - We traveled for leisure with my husband and my son. The location was just perfect for getting around as well as commute to and from Marco Polo Intl. Airport via water taxi which drops you less then five minutes away from the hotel. The room was very basic but newly renovated and clean.

• Sunil (4/5): 2 Star Hotel - Good location but that is about it - You need to go through a dark alley to get to this hotel. Hotel itself is not terrible, and the staff there are pretty pleasant. There is no elevator, and the doors are pretty thin on the other hand, and it is definitely an older hotel. On the negative side, the breakfast is pretty terrible (just some breads and jams and nothing hot). This is a 2 star hotel in my opinion.
• Claire (10/5): 1 night in Venice - Great reception staff who were very kind and accommodating as I checked in and out. Also helped us arrange a taxi to the airport the next day. Wi-fi was strong in my room. Room VERY CLEAN and comfortable. In a little alley, close to a busy square, but could not hear any of it in the room. Great stay as this was a small hotel, but still very modern in decor and CLEAN!!

• Verified traveler (8/5): Accommodating Staff - My friend and I had a nice stay! The staff was accommodating and helped us when we needed to print tickets. They also packed us breakfast when we had to check out early to catch our train. I would stay here again. Nice hotel with good facilities.
• Michael (10/5): Hotel Tiepolo review by two Americans in Venice - Awesome stay overall in this romantic boutique hotel. We spend five wonderful romantic days and nights at the Tiepolo Hotel. The room with its high ceilings and exposed beams, had beautiful views, and the hotel offered a nice breakfast to start the day in Venice, with great Capuccino, coffee, and juice included. Best part is to enjoy breakfast while gondolas are going by the window. Being American we enjoyed the wonderful, helpful and multi-lingual staff. We got to book our evening Opera tickets convently at the front desk. We stepped out into the day and nightlife of Venice, the hotel is steps away from St.Mark's square, yet close to Castello and its cute bars and restaurants for the locals. We enjoyed our stay immensly and would have loved to stay longer. The only cons we discovered were the water pipes in Venice are small, so it takes five to ten times to flush the toilet. The hotel provided towels were rather like dishtowels than bathtowels (Tip: bring your own fluffy ones from home). Last but not least, Hotels.com does not give you the correct Venice City Tax rate to be paid at the hotel. Its 3,5 Euros per person per night! Just add that to the room rate on Hotels.com and you are fine. Overall awesome experience! We love this hotel, and will be back in the off-season, when the room rates are still reasonable. :-)

• Steven (6/5): Convenient location, but what about those towels! - We chose the Tiepolo because of its location in Venice for the one night we visited since we were staying in Florence for eight days (a two hour train ride away). Tiepolo served it purpose. The complimentary breakfast was good, the hotel is clean, and the service was efficient and kind. The rooms are very small, but they served its purpose for one night. A longer stay with all our suitcases (we were three people) would have been a challenge. The only critical notes I would make is that the shower stall has a half door, so the entire floor can easily get wet. And the towels, as noted in some of the reviews, are basically flat, white, rather stiff, tablecloths, not the fluffy cotton towels you always get, which made it challenging to feel completely dry. That was an intriguing experience! All in all, it was good for one night when traveling with light luggage, has a very convenient location, is clean and offers free wifi/breakfast.
• michael (6/5): Not impressed - Disappointing small room, sheets for towels, the cheapest basic breakfast possible. A get them in get the money get them out attitude. I couldn't wait to leave. On the plus side fantastic location and clean. But no elevators so tricky if you have lots of luggage.
